00:01 rue_house oooh I think its to read/write to a external eeprom
00:01 zhanx_laptop http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=14205
00:01 zhanx_laptop confirms that
00:02 rue_house huh ok
00:02 rue_house well
00:02 rue_house wonder if I should migrate my home automation over to modbus....
00:02 rue_house hmmm
00:03 rue_house zhanx, your sensors are sent
00:03 zhanx_laptop cool
00:03 zhanx_laptop remind me later of you paypal
00:08 zhanx_laptop ok still building my embedded built environment
00:29 zhanx_laptop ok stressed the laptop too hard
09:39 elektrinis hi
09:40 elektrinis can someone suggest a simulating software for gears? Differential for example
09:40 Steffanx ki
09:40 elektrinis torque, rpm
09:41 elektrinis I do have crocodile physics, but cant figure out how to set up a differential
13:33 aggrav8d anyone here able to convert an STL file to DXF?
13:34 Tom_itx what is stl?
13:35 aggrav8d a text based format that's really easy to generate.
13:35 Tom_itx i may
13:35 Tom_itx solidworks will import stl
13:35 Tom_itx save as dxf
13:35 rue_bed is stl 3d?
13:36 aggrav8d right, but treats it as a solid. I want to get a sketch I can use to extrude a part.
13:37 Tom_itx you want a 2d pattern?
13:39 aggrav8d yeah.
13:39 Tom_itx i could try
13:39 aggrav8d i tried solidworks load stl save dxf, it didn't work.
13:39 Tom_itx i have a few different packages
13:39 Tom_itx what did solidworks do?
13:39 aggrav8d wouldn't let me select the STL to save out.
13:40 Tom_itx maybe i could export iges and try another cad package
13:40 Tom_itx i'm trying to screw something up here bigtime at the moment though
13:41 aggrav8d you do that while I make sure fido doesn't shit the rug.
13:46 rue_bed if I understand right you want software like what I made for my machine that just takes an image and uses it as a heightmap
13:48 rue_bed I think your machine is stepper based like mine is, funny, a person would just need to rewrite the io library to use it on your machine (assuming its a cnc mill)
14:05 aggrav8d ?
14:05 aggrav8d who are you talking to?
14:25 KongfuPanda hello robotics people !
14:27 rue_house http://www.dodgycoder.net/2011/11/yoda-conditions-pokemon-exception.html <-- what kinda code do you write?
14:32 Steffanx lol @ pokémon
14:45 Tom_itx aggrav8d
14:45 Tom_itx you have a file for me to try and convert?
14:45 aggrav8d sure. one moment...
14:45 aggrav8d how you want it? too big for pastebin.
14:45 Tom_itx hang on
14:46 Tom_L try dcc i guess
14:46 Tom_L to this one
14:46 Steffanx ftp :)
14:46 Tom_itx you might zip it
14:49 Tom_itx kermit
16:03 aggrav8d Tom_itx - are you still there?
16:05 Steffanx Tom_itx is always here
16:13 Tom_itx ok i'm back
16:13 Tom_itx had to run an errand
16:13 Steffanx See :)
16:13 Tom_itx well he took too long
16:14 Tom_itx aggrav8d!!
16:40 aggrav8d hi
16:40 aggrav8d http://www.marginallyclever.com/samples/hypocycloid-generator.html
16:41 Tom_itx yours?
16:41 aggrav8d change the offset in pressure angle to 0.005, then look down the page and you'll see it generated the STL file.
16:41 aggrav8d i modified it from a script somewhere else.
16:41 aggrav8d my python skills are non-existant.
16:41 aggrav8d if you can run the py you can probably generate the DXF yourself.
16:41 aggrav8d I believe I put a link on the page.
16:42 Tom_itx not easily
20:10 zhanx_laptop so i was curious and ended up with a shaved head
20:11 Tom_itx not so uncommon in your line of work
20:12 zhanx_laptop thinking not
20:12 zhanx_laptop first time for me
20:14 Tom_itx they didn't shave you when you joined?
20:14 zhanx_laptop they did 12 years ago
20:14 Tom_itx did you lose a bet or something?
20:14 zhanx_laptop this was a hey i think i can cut my own hair since i can cut hair thing
20:15 zhanx_laptop i lost to myself
20:15 Tom_itx heh
20:15 zhanx_laptop but i kind of like it
20:22 rue_house mil, thought shaved was std?
20:23 rue_house made an oops on the plc code, mixed up links and nodes
20:23 rue_house its a recursive fn, might take me 4 hours to modify 5 lines properly
20:26 rue_house code that dosn't have temporal linearity causes me problems
21:06 rue_house kat, if your listening, I'd like you to tell me what nick your using so I can tell you all about the fun stuff I did
21:10 Tom_itx is it a secret?
21:11 rue_house no I'm abot to post
21:13 rue_house !assist projects/heatplant
21:13 rue_house !assist projects/heatplant
21:13 rue_house !time
21:13 rue_house #@$%#$%&@#$&@#$%....
21:13 Tom_itx woops
21:14 Tom_itx maybe you should work on that a bit
21:14 rue_house !time
21:14 rue_house !time
21:14 tobbor My watch says its 19:06 Sun Nov 27 2011
21:14 rue_house !assist projects/heatplant
21:14 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant
21:14 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030650-guages.jpg <-- temp guages on the exhcnger in and out ductwork
21:15 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030652-exchin-guage.jpg <-- from 2 bbq
21:15 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030653-exchout-guage.jpg <-- not expected to be toooo accurate, but ballpark is cool
21:15 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030654-flapper.jpg <-- flapper to keep rain out and to stop convection when the blower is off
21:15 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030655-flapper.jpg
21:16 rue_house :) I think its pretty good for a day when I wasn't really up till about 12:00
21:16 rue_house haha stupid camera focused ont eh ladder
21:16 Tom_itx does the pop off work ok?
21:16 Tom_itx rain guard..
21:17 rue_house yea, its carefully ballanced to just be able to fall back when the air stopd
21:17 rue_house zhanx, http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/heatplant/p1030654-flapper.jpg <-- official name?
21:17 Tom_itx exhaust flapper
21:17 rue_house fair nuff
21:19 rue_house I did more than that today, but nothing else is much worth mentioning
21:25 Tom_itx gotta find some wheels
21:32 rue_house what size?
21:34 Tom_itx for my chair
21:34 Tom_itx it blew a tire tonight
21:36 rue_house I have a 5 way set if you want, I have a 6 way I want to upgrade the chair of doom to
21:36 rue_house the 6 way is wider too
21:37 Tom_itx this is 6 i think
21:37 Tom_itx no, 5
22:46 rue_house hehe I can calculate the execution paths but I cant return them to the calling fuction :)
22:58 theBear pfft, you'll never be a micro like that
22:59 Tom_itx global?
23:14 rue_house its a deeper rooted problem, I have no data contaier that can even hold multiple integer lists
23:16 rue_house I wonder how you do get data out a recursive function
23:23 rue_house if I had an object that just went along fo the ride, maybe I couldpush the lists to it as their resolved
23:32 rue_house I hate it when this happens
23:32 rue_house I made an integer list system
23:33 rue_house now I need to make a integer list list
