12:42 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> moin
07:58 PM roycroft: if i can get this video off my phone i'll show you what's going on
07:58 PM Tom_dev: about to call it an evening
07:58 PM Tom_dev: but i'll wait a few
07:59 PM roycroft: me too
07:59 PM roycroft: it's dinner time and i still have to work on my living room
07:59 PM roycroft: but i'll give this a quick go
08:05 PM roycroft: https://roycroft.us/Halshow.mov
08:05 PM roycroft: i hope you can view that
08:05 PM roycroft: i did not have time to convert it to a more common format
08:06 PM roycroft: i can do that later
08:07 PM roycroft: if it would hep
08:07 PM roycroft: help
08:07 PM Tom_dev: what's 16 mapped to?
08:07 PM roycroft: i don't remember any more
08:07 PM roycroft: and i'm not where i can get to that mesaconf file
08:07 PM roycroft: iirc 16 is dir and 17 is step
08:07 PM Tom_dev: TB3-23,24 16 IOPort SSR 0 Out-05 (Out)
08:07 PM roycroft: but it could be the opposite
08:08 PM roycroft: that's on tb3
08:08 PM roycroft: we're on tb1
08:08 PM Tom_dev: doesn't matter
08:08 PM Tom_dev: GPIO are GPIO
08:08 PM Tom_dev: look at the readhmid
08:08 PM Tom_dev: column 2
08:08 PM roycroft: i'll have to go bac to the other room to do tha
08:08 PM roycroft: one moment
08:09 PM Tom_dev: i'll admit it doesn't make sense
08:09 PM roycroft: oh, yeah
08:09 PM roycroft: i was off by one
08:09 PM roycroft: it's 17 and 18, not 16 and 17
08:10 PM Tom_dev: is there a hm2_7i96.0.gpio.17_out?
08:10 PM roycroft: no
08:10 PM roycroft: just in and in_not
08:10 PM roycroft: ok
08:10 PM Tom_dev: the last column shows them as output in the readhmid
08:10 PM roycroft: 17 in_not and 18 in_not are ready, or whatver yellow means
08:10 PM Tom_dev: yes
08:11 PM roycroft: and 17 in and 18 in are red, which i assume means off/disabled/fault
08:11 PM Tom_dev: but why is 16 pulsing?
08:11 PM roycroft: yeah - it's not enabled at all
08:11 PM roycroft: or should not be
08:11 PM Tom_dev: it's an SSR
08:11 PM roycroft: i did not configure tb3 at all
08:12 PM Tom_dev: you don't need to
08:12 PM Tom_dev: the bit file did
08:12 PM roycroft: and there is nothing connected to it
08:12 PM Tom_dev: it's an ssr output
08:12 PM Tom_dev: something is fishy
08:12 PM roycroft: yes, i see that
08:12 PM Tom_dev: do you get any pulse on 18?
08:13 PM Tom_dev: you shouldn't
08:13 PM roycroft: no
08:13 PM Tom_dev: but you should on 17
08:13 PM Tom_dev: and 17 should be an ouput
08:13 PM Tom_dev: as well as 18
08:13 PM roycroft: i see no signal anywhere with halscope
08:13 PM Tom_dev: what about halshow
08:14 PM roycroft: that's the video i posted
08:14 PM Tom_dev: it may be too slow to pick up that pulsestream
08:14 PM roycroft: and now that i have the right pins monitored, 17 in_not and 18in_not are steady yellow
08:14 PM roycroft: it's set to 4kHz sampling
08:14 PM roycroft: i can up that
08:14 PM roycroft: er, wait - that's halscope
08:14 PM roycroft: halshow is set to 100ms updates
08:14 PM Tom_dev: you can save that show session
08:15 PM roycroft: i'll lower tha significantly
08:15 PM Tom_dev: it still may not pick up that pulse
08:15 PM roycroft: actually, setting it to 5ms shows 18.in and 18.in_not toggling when i jog
08:15 PM Tom_dev: was there any setup in the ini or hal for stepgen?
08:15 PM roycroft: but 17 does not change at all
08:16 PM roycroft: yes, i used the default for the driver
08:16 PM Tom_dev: 18 should be the direction though and it should be on or off for fwd/rev
08:18 PM * roycroft does not remember it being this hard when he did it a few years ago
08:18 PM Tom_dev: you have 5 stepgens 17 thru 26
08:18 PM roycroft: and i did not have mesact at the time
08:18 PM Tom_dev: it shouldn't be that hard
08:18 PM roycroft: main.hal has 0.stepgen.oo
08:18 PM roycroft: for joint 0
08:20 PM Tom_dev: my stepgen is likely a bit different than the 7i96
08:20 PM Tom_dev: i will post one of mine with the settings
08:20 PM roycroft: ok, thanks
08:20 PM roycroft: i think i'm done for now
08:20 PM roycroft: but i'll do some more studying tonight
08:21 PM roycroft: thanks for your time and your help
08:21 PM Tom_dev: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/configs/NEW_MILL/
08:21 PM Tom_dev: actually just open new_mill.hal
08:21 PM Tom_dev: it's all there
08:21 PM roycroft: and i hope you appreciate how on-topic i'm being today :)
08:21 PM Tom_dev: search stepgen
08:21 PM Tom_dev: :D
08:21 PM roycroft: i think i checked that out yesterday or earlier today
08:22 PM roycroft: i bet there's just one tiny thing that's missing/misconfigured
08:22 PM Tom_dev: that's where you step timing etc are set
08:22 PM roycroft: but for now, i need dinner and rest
08:22 PM Tom_dev: along with enables for the stepgen
08:23 PM Tom_dev: net emcmot.00.enable <= joint.0.amp-enable-out
08:23 PM Tom_dev: net emcmot.00.enable => hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.stepgen.00.enable
08:23 PM Tom_dev: check that you see something like that
08:23 PM Tom_dev: unless it's all changed since my 7i90
08:24 PM roycroft: i had to leave the studio - that chair was too uncomfortable, and ssh broke (something with my firewall)
08:24 PM roycroft: i'll check after dinner
08:24 PM Tom_dev: later
08:25 PM xxcoder: sorry about earlier fbomb. I was talking elsewhere and had gotten very bad news
08:27 PM roycroft: colorful metaphors happen
08:27 PM xxcoder: sure. just didnt intend it to go here.
08:27 PM roycroft: we're grownups
08:27 PM roycroft: we've heard it before
08:27 PM roycroft: and it's not a habit of yours
08:28 PM xxcoder: yeah. never saw any need to be a sailor
08:30 PM roycroft: but in the navy, you can sail the seven seas
08:30 PM roycroft: in the navy, you can put your mind at ease
08:31 PM xxcoder: lol yeah I can barely walk a block, let alone when its on moving surface
08:31 PM * roycroft makes dinner and chills
08:31 PM xxcoder: had some frozen sushi and candy for dinner
08:32 PM xxcoder: not expecially tasty but good enough
08:51 PM roycroft: i spent too much time working on the router
08:51 PM roycroft: so made nachos
08:51 PM roycroft: quick and easy
08:51 PM roycroft: and delicious, of course
08:51 PM roycroft: quick and easy does not matter if it's not delicious as well
08:55 PM xxcoder: infinity cycle too. have chips but no dip? make dip. have dip leftover and no chips? buy chips
08:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/hEkrbhjfv5FA1JTX7
08:59 PM xxcoder: hmm looks like fairly large mill
09:00 PM xxcoder: being hoisted up? hard to tell
09:02 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Yes. Moved it.. part of the organizing
09:03 PM xxcoder: cool :) yeah still lot of work I see

09:04 PM xxcoder: semi-scrapped? I see that it should have more panels
09:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Lol.. I have 0 manual mills here
09:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Home made enclosure.. not finished
09:06 PM xxcoder: ahh ok didnt think of still was unfinished
