01:30 AM Deejay: moin
02:42 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> moin
04:24 AM Tom_L: morning
04:37 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> odrive drives me cracy, getting 'rotation losts', this fcking spi encoder
04:54 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> Morning
07:45 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> I still haven't been able to get any motion out of the DMC mail that I put that message card into, I'm sure it's something stupid simple in the config but I can't seem to get the steppers to move.
07:45 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> * minj that I put that mesa
09:50 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Well - the small remote control trainer survived 2 dead batteries.. only in a tree twice and we lost the landing gear. (In a tree)
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> Lol
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> FPV?
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> No..
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Old school..
09:52 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Nice little plane. With a bit of gyro help
09:52 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Sully was doing figure eights in the field..
09:53 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> It is a bit fast because it is so small...
09:53 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> But it is super light..
09:54 AM JT-Shop: photo?
09:55 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Give me a second
09:56 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/7V6t1sF8gSAtHGGL6
10:01 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> It works best to throw launch it
10:01 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Especially now.. lol
10:06 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I thought about an fpv drone - but he has been talking about how he likes flying airplanes.. So we will see if this sticks
10:08 AM bjorkintosh: ah that's a miniature flying machine.
10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yes - it is quite small
10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> When I was slightly into this - mostly still gas - which is a pain. It is so much nicer now with electrics..
10:13 AM bjorkintosh: skunkworks I went to a model shop looking for some parts, and the owner of the shop told me not to call them toy planes, or model planes, but to refer to them as "miniature flying machines".
10:13 AM bjorkintosh: 'cause that is what it is.
10:15 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol
10:16 AM JT-Shop: skunkworks I have an electric "foamy" which is fun to fly
10:16 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I think slightly bigger would be nicer - but it is a good start.
10:22 AM JT-Shop: https://pasteboard.co/Bev3awN2kjO8.jpg
10:22 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I bet that is a bit more responsive 🙂
10:23 AM JT-Shop: https://pasteboard.co/DXOpqA00n9bh.jpg
10:23 AM JT-Shop: that was my favorite gas plane, could fly it very slow and do wild maneuvers
10:24 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> cool - can you hang it on the prop?
10:25 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I scratch built a trainer when I was out of collage - a guy at work said - make it as light as you can.. So I did. He flew it and said.. It is a bit too light.. LOL
10:25 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I should put an electric motor on that one.
10:27 AM JT-Shop: I never tried to hang on the prop
10:43 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> sketchy 16ft ladder and I found the landing gear..
10:43 AM JT-Shop: held on with rubber bands
10:43 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> just pops in
10:43 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I should run a rubber band around it so it stays with the plane
10:43 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> if it comes unhooked
10:44 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol - The plane would instantly go left when you tried to launch from the ground.. I see the wheels are cambered - I wonder if sully put them in backwards.
10:52 AM JT-Shop: been dead calm all morning until I lit the burn barrel
10:57 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> windy as heck around here
11:09 AM roycroft: i just went out to get a cappuccino, deciding to treat myself since it's a sunday
11:09 AM bjorkintosh: how're you doing roycroft?
11:09 AM bjorkintosh: how's recovery?
11:09 AM roycroft: and almsot everything in town is closed - only the hippie bakery was open
11:09 AM roycroft: i'm doing well
11:10 AM roycroft: i'm off the oxycodone now, and every day i'm able to do more with less pain
11:11 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> Awesome to hear, push yourself, but not too much.
11:11 AM roycroft: exactly
11:11 AM roycroft: my next post-op doctor's appointement is on thursday, and i should get new instructions then on what i'm permitted to do
11:11 AM roycroft: plus i'll get a referral to physical therapy then
11:11 AM roycroft: that's what will really help, i think
11:12 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> PT will help a lot, and hurt at first.
11:12 AM roycroft: i'm already moving about a fair amount
11:12 AM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> Super important for range of motion though
11:13 AM roycroft: they're going to want me to go in like 3x/week for pt, but given where i live that's not feasible
11:14 AM roycroft: when i broke my wrist it was the same situation, and what we ended up doing was a long initial assessment with a lot of explanation of what i need to do, accomplanied by a bunch of printed intructions on the things i need to do
11:15 AM roycroft: and i did it all at home, going in once every couple weeks to see how i'm doing
11:15 AM roycroft: hopefully that will be the same with my back, and the pt won't require any special equipment
11:16 AM roycroft: i think that walking a lot is going to be the main thing
11:16 AM roycroft: and perhaps getting some nordic ski poles to use while walking
11:17 AM roycroft: and since i live in a town now that is surrounded by national forest on all sides, and has zillions of hiking trails close by, walking a lot should be no problem
11:24 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> My gal friend with the new hip is up and about on crutches. already in PT.
12:37 PM roycroft: nice
12:50 PM xxcoder: good day to you all
12:51 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> afternoon 🙂
01:21 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> on a vfd what is MA MB and MC generally used for
01:22 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> "multi-function contact output terminals" but im unclear to what that even means
01:23 PM xxcoder: sounds programmable but yeah dunno also
01:25 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> yeah i see it now, something programable
01:25 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> i was hoping it was a 485 thing, but this driver looks to old
01:26 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> i dont see a year on this manual, but there is a section about AM radio interference
01:27 PM xxcoder: wow. havent been a concern for quite a while I would say
01:28 PM Tom_L: could have been smoke signals
01:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> raining
01:55 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> 30 - 40 mph gusty wind here
01:57 PM Tom_L: hold your hat
01:59 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> power keeps flickering
02:05 PM roycroft: yay
02:06 PM roycroft: raised lettering machining is done (still a bit of sanding and background painting to do), so my bench is freed up for other things
02:06 PM xxcoder: nice
02:06 PM roycroft: and i finished setting up my accounting system and did all the opening balances
02:06 PM roycroft: so that's ready to go
02:07 PM roycroft: i'm starting to check things off the list vs. what i've been doing which is adding to the list and pushing things down the list
02:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lost the feed from the camera at the top of the tower...
02:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> re-setting it didn't fix it. So either the camera died - or the network cable is bad - hopefully something maybe ate the cable between the network box and the tower. (it is not protected there yet.)
02:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (the tuner and wifi up there still work)
02:15 PM Tom_L: not lightening?
02:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> don't know
02:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> maybe
02:16 PM Tom_L: added flash for the camera :)
02:16 PM xxcoder: 📸
02:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I would have thought it would have taken other stuff out (all the equipment is hooked into the same switch)
02:16 PM Tom_L: you gonna climb the pole and fix it???
02:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> nope. I would tip it back down
02:17 PM Tom_L: yeah i think i'd do all the ground work first
02:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I would cut the 2 trees that are in the way (now that the tower is up) and then tip it back down.
02:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> not a priority though
03:08 PM xxcoder: https://youtu.be/hJgGkRDyekU
03:08 PM xxcoder: lol just bad
03:22 PM xxcoder: I probably could build better one than spira lol
03:32 PM xxcoder: yeesh it just gets worse and worse lol. so bad
03:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> more floor
03:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/32bT5ckSjwDhgg6t8
03:59 PM * JT-Shop just came from a ride around the hood on the ebike but no one is out so can't find anyone to help put the hood back on
04:00 PM * JT-Shop thinks of how to use block and tackle to hold the hood in position
04:00 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol - I was wondering if you had options..
04:01 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I forgot dad had bought a pallet jack.. That is coming in handy
04:01 PM JT-Shop: I love my pallet jack... if it's not on wheels the pallet jack can move it except for the bandsaw
04:03 PM JT-Shop: it takes two people to put the hood on, it's not heavy just a bit awkward for one person
04:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> right - My brother inlaw brought me the hood for the vw - I had him help me put it on while he was there.
04:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> This is a bit tall - but it worked..
04:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/sU4qc5UYnBP2Lcrr9
04:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is going out side - probably getting scrapped
04:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> but it is still raining
04:05 PM JT-Shop: a hyd pump?
04:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yes - from the nc cincinati lathe. So - it is kinda odd. The pump is constant pressure and only 1000psi pressure
04:07 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it ran a rather huge hydralic motor - expecially for the z axis.
04:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/4itUMPXxALsUqDga9
04:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have 2 of those.. Almost tempted to make some sort of tank style driving machine.. lol
04:10 PM JT-Shop: that's a beast of a motor
04:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (pretty high volume - the pump is 40gpm)
04:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> 20 hp 1175 rpm
04:13 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> dad actually sold the 2nd one... I put it on facebook market place - but I am not holding my breath...
04:14 PM JT-Shop: some things seem to sell faster on fbmp
04:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is mostly all I have been selling on..
04:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it has been ok. The tractor was on fbmp - sold in about a month
04:15 PM JT-Shop: I used to use craigslist a lot
04:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> dad sold a lot of small stuff on ebay..
04:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> The silver did well on ebay.
04:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> been years since I sold anything on ebay
04:23 PM JT-Shop: it's been a long time since I bought or sold on fleabay
04:42 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> wow - it is still raining
04:56 PM rdtsc: big_kevin, MA/MB/MC are relay contacts. Generally these can be set to things like no error, or fault, or at-speed, or sometimes communications lost, etc.
04:57 PM rdtsc: re: [05:27] <lcnc-relay> <meisterdippel@> odrive drives me cracy, getting 'rotation losts', this fcking spi encoder - sounds like SPI is taking too long / not realtime
05:15 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> depends which one hes using, but im assuming its one of thos emagnetic spi encoders which kinda suck
05:20 PM _unreal_: ?
05:36 PM Unterhaus__ is now known as Unterhausen
05:36 PM Unterhausen: Paul what's his name trying to make a fuss over licenses again.
05:36 PM Unterhausen: vexatious bug reporter
06:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> paul is still around?
08:32 PM roycroft: what is the alleged license issue?
10:25 PM xxcoder: lol love this https://a.co/d/2MDS3bf
