10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> good morning all....
10:16 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Lcvette: I've been watching Farscape. pretty good for it's erra, it's also out of Jim Hensen TV so it is good.
10:16 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187636/
10:17 AM roycroft: i've watched farscape a little
10:17 AM roycroft: it seems a good show but i've not really gotten into it yet
10:21 AM bjorkintosh: oh farscape is fantastic!
10:21 AM bjorkintosh: it's from Jim Henson, so puppets.
10:21 AM bjorkintosh: so fun.
10:22 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> what about 'the expance'? I have heard good things about it..
10:22 AM bjorkintosh: never seen it.
10:22 AM bjorkintosh: is it any good?
10:22 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> another really, really good one it The Expanse....
10:22 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3230854/
10:23 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> skunkworks8841@: sorry, didn't see your post......doh
10:23 AM bjorkintosh: roguish, really? what would you compare it to?
10:24 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> can't really compare it .... it's just really good. good story, good characters, good actors, the whole thing...
10:24 AM bjorkintosh: I see.
10:25 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> and one more, a bit shorter. the first season is the best....
10:25 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2261227/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_6_nm_2_in_0_q_altered%2520ca
10:26 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I am kinda looking forward to 'The bondsman' with kevin bacon.. Alghouth I rarely watch anything some time will tell.
10:27 AM bjorkintosh: Lcvette, I'm watching Constellation (apple tv). it's quite intense.
10:27 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> wow - maybe I need more coffee
10:28 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> During the divorce - I found 'the mentalist' complete series was on prime. I watched it from begining to end - and it even wrapped itself up.. I enjoyed it.
10:28 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> So - I rarely watch anything new - as I don't want to commit to something lol
10:30 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> But now I sleep a bit better - so I don't watch as much.
10:31 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> on Apple tv, Silo and Foundation are pretty ok.
10:32 AM bjorkintosh: I read 6 books after the foundation trilogy thinking it was such a great accomplishment...
10:32 AM bjorkintosh: only to find out there were several more.
10:32 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> and the movie The Gorge is good. it has the actress Anya Tayor-Joy, aka Furiosa
10:32 AM bjorkintosh: I enjoyed the books, but the show was a tad slow for me.
10:38 AM Deejay: howdy
10:50 AM roycroft: i slept better last night
10:50 AM bjorkintosh: each day sounds like an improvement.
10:50 AM * bjorkintosh applauds.
10:50 AM roycroft: i suspect it will get better every night until the 24th, by which time i'll be sleeping almost normally
10:50 AM roycroft: then, on that day, all the staples will be removed
10:51 AM roycroft: and i'll probably have rough nights again for a while
10:51 AM roycroft: but that should be the last procedure, so by the end of the month i should be signficantly improving
10:55 AM roycroft: i am hoping that the staple removal will go swimmingly, as was suggested here might happen yesterday, but i'm preparing for it to be difficult
10:55 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> hope for the best, prepare for the worst
10:56 AM roycroft: i suspect that even if they use the tool that can remove the via the same path as entry, it will depend on the skill an experience of the operator
10:56 AM roycroft: it turns out that i got a rock star surgeon and team, so i'm fortunate in that respect
10:56 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> always
10:57 AM roycroft: i guess that's a benefit of living in/hear a city with a top-ranked college football team - it attracts rock star doctors to deal with athletic injuries
10:57 AM roycroft: and the rest of the population beneit
10:57 AM roycroft: benefit
10:58 AM roycroft: the orthopedic surgeon who operated on my wrist is also a rock star surgeon
10:59 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> it helps. the ortho I go to works on lots of pro athletes. and likes to do trianthylon stuff himself, so he definitely knows what he's doing
10:59 AM roycroft: when i went in for my post-op i parked next to my surgeon's car - there was a sign saying the space was reserved for him, so i know it was his car
10:59 AM roycroft: and he drives a maserati
10:59 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> wow, up into the 50's now.
10:59 AM roycroft: i would expect a neurosurgeon to drive a mercedes or something like that
11:00 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> started out early this morning at 40
11:00 AM roycroft: maserati puts him in a class above that
11:06 AM bjorkintosh: but maseratis are POS
11:07 AM bjorkintosh: I mean, I guess the more finicky the vehicle, the richer you oughta be to even think about owning it.
11:08 AM * bjorkintosh glares at Range Rover
11:14 AM roycroft: i just figure that if a person can afford a luxury vehicle then they're doing pretty well
11:17 AM Rab: Not all wealthy people are interested in luxury vehicles, but that sort of aspirational status-seeking stuff does seem to correlate with surgeon personality type.
11:18 AM JT-Cave: if he drives a GranTurismo or GranCabrio that's and expensive car
11:19 AM * JT-Cave quits looking at Maserati's
11:21 AM roycroft: correct
11:22 AM roycroft: and if a surgeon drives a toyota i don't think poorly of the surgeon
11:22 AM roycroft: but if they drive a really expensive luxury car they're probably good at their thing
11:22 AM roycroft: btw, i do not call this guy a "rock star surgeon" because he drives a maserati
11:23 AM roycroft: i call him that because he's gotten good press for his skills on difficult cases
11:24 AM roycroft: sports medicine is really big around here, as we're a city with a top-tier college football team and no professional sports teams, and as such have an almost southern obsession with our college teams
11:43 AM Rab: I generally prefer a sports medicine doctor, as the type of work- and recreation-related injuries I've had in the past map onto sports medicine pretty well. I used to have a doctor and phys therapist who were really good at pinpointing and treating e.g. a trapezius tear. Now I'm starting to need more old-dude medicine.
11:45 AM roycroft: in my experience, besides generally being rock star docs, sports medicine doctors don't automatically talk down to patients who want the full, honest story about what's going on
11:45 AM roycroft: a lot of doctors are infuriating because whenever you ask them a question they dumb down the answer, assuming you're not capable of or care to know the full truth
11:46 AM roycroft: sports medicine doctors do not do that nearly as much in my experience
11:48 AM roycroft: when i was in the other day i asked the doctor a question, he hesitated, and then kind of meekly responded "maybe"
11:49 AM roycroft: and i could see he was preparing to defend that answer
11:49 AM roycroft: so i just said "ok, maybe is a good answer when it's the truth"
11:49 AM roycroft: he lightened up immediately
11:50 AM roycroft: so may patients don't want and can't accept answers like that, even when they are the only truthful answer
11:57 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> well, 10 am ands up to 6y0now. ride time. bbl
12:05 PM roycroft: my boss just directed me to call a customer, and when i told him it's best i not be talking directly to customers because i'm on pain me he said "man up and do your job"
12:05 PM roycroft: this after his talking to me many times since i've come home and every time telling me i don't sound right
12:06 PM roycroft: i'm not unwilling to talk to the customer
12:07 PM roycroft: i just don't think it will represent our company well if i do, and the only reason to talk to her is to get her to set up a remote desktop link, which is done via email anyway
12:24 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> roguish: oh yeah thats one of my favorites, I use several of them as filler shows to watch when new content isn't available or nothing new is worth watching. my fav scifi/fantasy list in no particular order:
12:24 PM lcnc-relay: Star Trek series all
12:24 PM lcnc-relay: Stargate series SG1, SGU, Atlantis, Origin, +movies
12:24 PM lcnc-relay: Battlestar Galactica 2004 Series +Movies

02:08 PM roycroft: and i'm ok moving it around
02:08 PM roycroft: ok, as in not at all uncomfortable
02:08 PM roycroft: i don't know how it will go under power though
02:09 PM roycroft: i'll be using a tiny cutter, so things probably will be fine, but if i decide to give it a go, i think i'll start in a piece of scrap
04:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> don't overdo it.
