04:26 AM Guest40: Hi guys, short q - got a china 6040 with parport box - wonder if its smarter to connect via a celeron board or a raspi 4b, got both where probably the pi would just fit into that box too. So question is, which will work more stable?
04:30 AM jpa-: pi 4 is more widely used, so it might be easier to get working; a random old PC may or may not work well, depending on so many things it is hard to predict
04:31 AM jpa-: if you don't need to run CAD or web browser on the same system, pi 4 should be plenty powerful enough to run linuxcnc
04:33 AM Guest40: Oh thx guys, got both - rpi4b/8GB - just realized on other projects pi's esp on raspian can behave a bit more beta than on classic intel/amd :)

04:42 AM Guest40: Just one more q about pi gpio-cnc box - does it make sense to think about electrical signal lvls (3v pi) and add some optocouplers? (I d assume 4/5MHz ones would do then) As i atm think i d just throw the pi with a pi powersupply in the cnc box but am a bit aware of spikes or (whatever Gegentakt issues are in english)
