08:23 PM roycroft: i have a dresser in my bedroom that i bought 30ish years ago
08:23 PM roycroft: it was an old dresser - probably from the '30s or '40s, and it was painted some hideous colors, i can't remember exactly what they were
08:23 PM roycroft: but both the individual colors were bad and the combination was bad
08:24 PM roycroft: i stripped the top down to bare wood, which was old growth douglas fir, and stained it black, which did not stain the growth rings, and then varnished it
08:24 PM roycroft: the rest i painted teal
08:25 PM roycroft: it looked really good and i kept it that way for years, but then i decided i wanted the natural wood, so i stripped the whole dresser, save the top, and put an oil finish on it
08:25 PM roycroft: it was a tremendous amount of work getting all the old paint off, especially in the corners and such
08:25 PM roycroft: so kind of similar to what that pink dresser video is about
