11:52 AM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
11:57 AM rdtsc: only retiring JT is gonna do is when the vette's tires need changed :)
12:21 PM JT-Cave: the C8 needs tires now :)
12:21 PM xxcoder: fun blondihack today
12:22 PM JT-Cave: thinking of making a qss file generator where you just pick the colors you want and it generates the qss file...
12:26 PM JT-Cave: nap time
12:29 PM rdtsc: I started to port qss-editor+, but got stuck on how to load a .ui into a StackedWidget during run-time
12:30 PM JT-Shop: for a preview just setStylesheet
12:30 PM rdtsc: thought was, user could load their .ui file and .qss file and have an interactive editor
12:31 PM JT-Shop: ahh
12:32 PM JT-Shop: you could probably do that, but I've never tried to do that
12:33 PM rdtsc: think i got a small test of it working here https://github.com/mj1911/qss-editor/tree/master/try_ui_load but translating that to the real app was proving challenging
12:38 PM skunkworks: doesn't look like it
12:39 PM skunkworks: (sorry - unrelated to any conversation on here)
01:22 PM Tom_L: seems the C8 went thru a set of tires rather quick
01:25 PM memleak: What kind of tires?
01:26 PM Tom_L: C8 tires?
01:26 PM Tom_L: jt has been rather rough on his new toy
01:27 PM memleak: gotta go, bbl
01:27 PM Tom_L: hurry :)
01:32 PM JT-Shop: 27k miles on them is good
01:32 PM _unreal_: just got the second side of my new WET jig box glued down. gluing the mounting angle brackets to the box. its all fiberglass
01:33 PM _unreal_: but its being setup to lock into the same location every time its used on the cnc machine.
01:33 PM _unreal_: cant wait for it to be finished.
01:34 PM _unreal_: My next step is setting up the CAD file for the aluminum plate. so I can have the machine MILL the internal locations that will mount the aluminum jigging plate to the inside of this box.
01:35 PM _unreal_: only thing that sucks is that everything takes time waiting for the glue to dry. also the place I got the aluminum plate from.... :( I didnt know they where going to cut the material with a shear :(. warped the crap out of my plate
01:35 PM _unreal_: I was planning on using some internal mounts as part of the jig to through bolt down to the base of the cnc machine with o rings or gaskets to keep the water from leaking. but :S ugh....
01:36 PM _unreal_: now I'll have to level the plate as well
01:36 PM _unreal_: Arg..3@#!$%@$#%^@#$%

01:48 PM Tom_L: the piston sleeves rotate on that engine???
01:49 PM JT-Shop: the whole engine rotates except for the crank
01:49 PM Tom_L: odd for sure
01:50 PM JT-Shop: https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/197466/gnome-n-9/
01:50 PM Tom_L: i'd think it would be hard to balance
01:53 PM Tom_L: interesting
01:57 PM Tom_L: my bud's dad used to restore stearmans and had a bunch of radial engine parts
02:02 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
02:30 PM roycroft: i found the baggie with the shed door hinges, so i can install that now
02:30 PM roycroft: i still haven't found the cabinet hardware baggie though
02:31 PM roycroft: but progress is progress
02:37 PM xxcoder: nice lol
02:40 PM roycroft: yeah, but now it's raining again
02:40 PM roycroft: and i'll get pretty wet installing the door
02:40 PM roycroft: the inside of the she by the door opening will no longer get wet, so that's a fair tradeoff
02:43 PM Tom_L: where was it?
02:43 PM xxcoder: at your shed tom
02:45 PM Tom_L: turboss get anywhere with the bridge?
02:45 PM xxcoder: yeah he got some images functioning without 404s except discord direct pastes doesnt even get a link
02:49 PM xxcoder: hes trying some different configs to see what happens. we have test channel
03:05 PM JT-Shop: whew the upper control arm is out
03:14 PM Tom_L: cool
03:23 PM Tom_L: tested the z retract live... much better
03:29 PM JT-Shop: cool
06:11 PM xxcoder: dang 3 hours yt video, and its not something specality like fireplace video lol
06:11 PM xxcoder: yeah not watching it lol
06:23 PM roycroft: new yorkshire workshop guy has done really long videos like that
06:23 PM roycroft: but his are worth watching
06:27 PM * roycroft just had a horrible experience
06:27 PM roycroft: i needed to go into town on three errands, all on the same street
06:27 PM roycroft: when i got there, the street was closed because there was a parade
06:28 PM roycroft: there was no signage about it until it was too late
06:28 PM roycroft: it took me an hour to get to the first store
06:28 PM roycroft: and i decided to go home after that, but it took almost 2 hours to get back out
06:28 PM roycroft: this is not counting the 40 minute drive each way to town
06:29 PM roycroft: and now it's going to get dark in 10 minutes, and i have not installed the door yet :(
06:29 PM roycroft: that's a tomorrow morning thing at this point
06:29 PM xxcoder: doh bad timing
06:29 PM * roycroft wonders what kind of parade is had on december 7
06:30 PM roycroft: i've never heard of a pearl harbor parade before
06:30 PM xxcoder: odd
06:36 PM xxcoder: https://youtu.be/aUPWfZS_uAM pretty cool. "no electrics" ebike
06:37 PM xxcoder: motor, wires, battery, and no microchips
06:43 PM Tom_L: switch wouldn't last long
06:44 PM xxcoder: yeah though its just rough prototype
06:44 PM Tom_L: iirc the reed switch may have silver contacts
06:45 PM xxcoder: he decided to just use tungsten welding rods
06:45 PM xxcoder: far harder metal so it dont erode by sparks
06:45 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/Relay1.jpg
06:45 PM Tom_L: couple of those'd do the trick
06:46 PM Tom_L: :)
06:46 PM xxcoder: fancy :) but can it be controlled by magnets passng by?
06:46 PM Tom_L: no
06:46 PM Tom_L: those are very old relays
06:47 PM Tom_L: you won't find one made that way nowdays
06:47 PM xxcoder: I bet
06:47 PM xxcoder: well looks like prototype has some issues lol lets see if he fixes em
06:47 PM xxcoder: oh he built full bridge recifiers
06:49 PM xxcoder: looks like he just turned it intp regenerator and power gen. maybe he will figure better way later
06:49 PM Tom_L: alot like a F&P motor
07:03 PM Tom_L: xxcoder, you seen his 'aircraft
07:03 PM Tom_L: launcher'?
07:04 PM xxcoder: same guy as video I linked to?
07:04 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4zTAkLKgm4
07:04 PM Tom_L: seems he likes messin with magnets
07:04 PM xxcoder: yup and coils lol
07:05 PM xxcoder: well it do look like hes having fun so thats good
07:05 PM xxcoder: gonbna love the hotdog one
10:12 PM xxcoder: artisan make uploaded correct video
