05:10 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@discord> clear & 25F/53F here
07:05 AM acer: just started printing the second side of my dust collector in side. the hose connectors
07:06 AM acer is now known as _unreal_
07:18 AM _unreal_: then I need to print the reciver for the vacuum side
07:19 AM _unreal_: then I also need to print the reciver for the in side.
08:03 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:14 AM rdtsc: Morning. JT_Cave, is there an easy way to get the plotter to invert the colors for a white config? Example image: https://github.com/mj1911/my-linuxcnc
08:27 AM _unreal_: almost done printing
08:28 AM _unreal_: cant wait for the print to finish so I can look at the file name for the last print I did. I cant remember. and am wondering if its one of those files that suffered a win update when I didnt expect it and non saved file
08:28 AM _unreal_: o:/
08:35 AM Tom_L: rdtsc, you could set them in flexplot.py
08:35 AM Tom_L: i don't know of an external method
08:44 AM _unreal_: !!! no wonder I cant find the damn file. I drew that cad drawing on an other computer.
08:44 AM _unreal_: palm to face
08:51 AM JT-Cave: rdtsc, plotter and easy don't go together... I don't see any way to change the colors
08:55 AM JT-Cave: looks like they are defined here https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/master/lib/python/rs274/glcanon.py#L444
08:56 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ

09:56 AM JT-Cave: coming soon to a GUI near you
09:59 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@discord> *drool
10:23 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> is anyone else getting an error on startup in terminal as this?
10:23 AM lcnc-relay: USRMOT: ERROR: command 30 timeout

10:25 AM _unreal_: last 2 cad files done. sliced. and worming up the print head
10:25 AM _unreal_: cant wait for these 2 prints. when done I'll have my DIY 30gal metal drum cyclone
10:26 AM _unreal_: I have a nice cone filter as well
10:26 AM _unreal_: that mounts to the inside
10:29 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> this is shown in 2.10 but not on 2.9 from git
10:29 AM lcnc-relay: !!!emc/rs274ngc/gcodemodule.cc: parse_file() f=/home/turboss/linuxcnc/nc_files/square.ngc
10:29 AM lcnc-relay: !!!interp_error=1 result=2 last_sequence_number=1
10:29 AM _unreal_: if it works as well as I'm hoping it does. I'll get lots of run time and even be able to mill things I dont want to I.E. FRP material.
10:34 AM _unreal_: hum this monoprice delta printer does not like petg settings :/
10:34 AM _unreal_: I'm going to have to tease the low end of working settings :/
10:34 AM _unreal_: fark
10:34 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Cave: keeps getting better JT
10:41 AM _unreal_: roguish?
10:45 AM _unreal_: hum
10:46 AM _unreal_: I dont know if I'm at the limits of my PSU or the controlling hardware that is the monoprice delta printer?
10:46 AM _unreal_: psu seems to be cool to the touch
10:46 AM _unreal_: so I'm guessing its the control circuts?
10:47 AM _unreal_: printing this time AND sticking? last time it printed for 5min and just stopped like I hit estop
10:48 AM _unreal_: bed temp is holding at 46 and nozzle is holding at 224
10:52 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:58 AM _unreal_: amazing 50% done downloading 547gb torrent... downloading the eXodos abandon ware torrent file
10:58 AM _unreal_: got to love having fiber internet
10:59 AM rdtsc: JT, noticed something to be aware of when editing .qss; do not leave a trailing comma on a group:
10:59 AM rdtsc: /************** Fix for QLabels and BOLD font *************/
10:59 AM rdtsc: QLabel#dro_lb_x, QLabel#dro_lb_y, QLabel#dro_lb_z {
10:59 AM rdtsc: font: 75 20pt "DSEG7 Modern";
10:59 AM rdtsc: }
10:59 AM rdtsc: having a comma after the 'z' causes the rest of the file to be ignored
11:03 AM rdtsc: p.s. fix not really working
11:08 AM _unreal_: well my print is still going
11:09 AM JT-Shop: rdtsc, any mistake in the qss file is quietly ignored
11:10 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: when did you guys start a Flex channel?
11:10 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> is it IRC or what?
11:10 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> I see it in Discord, but can't find it here in Matrix
11:14 AM JT-Shop: a few weeks ago
11:17 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> is it invite only ?
11:17 AM Tom_L: roguish, while you were sleeping
11:17 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> how can I get it in Matrix ???
11:17 AM Tom_L: subs read from the var file now. and it's updated from the gui
11:17 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> thru Element app
11:17 AM Tom_L: and loaded on startup
11:18 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: i figured you guys would work it out. just took some effort. good.
11:18 AM Tom_L: just motivation
11:18 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> that too
11:20 AM Tom_L: inch & metric
11:25 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> well, I guess it's time for me to redo my config from scratch
11:25 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> I tried to setup qtdragon since I was tired of gmocappyu
11:25 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> * gmocappy
11:26 AM rdtsc: qtdragon, any gui really, is an involved process
11:26 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> and it complains about stuff like toplevel.py not existing (but it's not there in working sample configs) or the fact that apparently it can't find vcp_dro_button_stack
11:26 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> rdtsc: I know
11:27 AM Tom_L: unless you wait for someone to build you one
11:27 AM rdtsc: check out flex gui :)
11:27 AM JT-Cave: rdtsc, https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/ini.html#plotter
11:27 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> I somewhat know how to get it working, it's just a pain in this case
11:27 AM Tom_L: rdtsc, new probe routines too
11:27 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> because this config is involved enough I really don't want to redo it
11:27 AM JT-Cave: you can set the background color now for the plotter
11:27 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> but at the same time working on my machine is hell since it has a spotty touchscreen and no horizontal surfaces for keyboard and mouse
11:28 AM rdtsc: awesome guys :)
11:28 AM Tom_L: rdtsc, reads from the var file now
11:28 AM Tom_L: so it requires some gui fixes if you're using it
11:29 AM Tom_L: and a new set of subs
11:29 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> ah, eg, found out why it complains about top_level.py, I had it in my ini file for some reason
11:29 AM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> and just couldn't find it when at the PC
11:34 AM JT-Cave: rdtsc, https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/probe.html#setting-variables
11:34 AM JT-Cave: and https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/probe.html#getting-variables
11:37 AM JT-Cave: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/ini.html#plotter
11:37 AM JT-Cave: https://rgbcolorpicker.com/0-1
11:39 AM JT-Cave: gtk you should try flex gui
11:40 AM rdtsc: dang you two have been busy hammering out awesomeness
11:40 AM Tom_L: don't you know it!
11:41 AM JT-Cave: VBG
11:42 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> JT-Cave: what version of linuxcnc are you working in?
11:43 AM Tom_L: 12 here
11:43 AM JT-Cave: 2.9.2
11:43 AM Tom_L: read that as linux...
11:44 AM Tom_L: i'm on 2.9.3 here
11:44 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Cave:Bobby Allison died......
11:44 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> ok, which tag of 2.9.3?
11:44 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> there is something broken in the new releases
11:44 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> trying to track down where it started
11:44 AM Tom_L: -67-adjfapsdiuhfa;shnf
11:45 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> ok your pre issue
11:45 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Lcvette: I just sent an email to the user group about the buildbot failures....
11:46 AM Tom_L: lcvette: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/lcnc_version.png
11:46 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> don't update until its resolved
11:46 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> lol
11:46 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> turbos and i just spent all morning trying to figure out what broke
11:47 AM Tom_L: good to know, thanks
11:47 AM Tom_L: you can grab an older deb and use that
11:47 AM JT-Cave: they are not supposed to break 2.9 that's what master is for :)
11:47 AM Tom_L: kids these days
11:48 AM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> its broken somewhere between 2.9.3-83-g1d5d02d836 and 2.9.3-2099-g9f5a1c8f50
11:48 AM JT-Cave: nap time here while you guys dream up more awesome things to add to flex
11:48 AM Tom_L: should be possible

11:56 AM lcnc-relay: emcMotionInit: emcTrajInit failed
12:02 PM Tom_L: lcvette, use a pastebin site for that
12:18 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
12:21 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> JT-Cave: I quite like qt dragon if I could get the panels working
12:21 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> the errors I'm seeing are all related to QTPYVCP
12:22 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> qtdragon is not a qtpyvcp gui
12:22 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> it use qtvcp
12:22 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> yeah, sorry
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> was doublechecking the error message I see and yeah
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> assumed it was on qtpyvcp
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> still
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> basically every time I try to go to another panel it complains that vcpwindow has no attribute 'dro_button_stack_a'
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> and that's it
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> some panels still work (probe), others don't (file)
12:25 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> I'm assuming it's config related but I'm not 100% sure on it
12:25 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> im not well versed in qtvcp
12:25 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> I'm tempted to just redo the config from scratch
12:26 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> probably quicker than debugging this
12:26 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> and I know that it works from scratch
12:26 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> i support probe basic/qtpyvcp issues because I am actively developing them
12:27 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> I could also try probe basic but it's much more work to adapt a config
12:27 PM _unreal_: ugh... I thought the print would be done by now
12:27 PM _unreal_: 95%
12:27 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> ive not really looked at qtvcp, but my guess is you are correct and something got missed in configs
12:27 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> so I wanted to see if I could get qtdragon working easily
12:27 PM _unreal_: 3hr in it estimated 1.45min
12:27 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> testing is a bear with no vnc though
12:27 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> and I couldn't get vnc working on this machine
12:28 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> gtkplusplus@discord: yeah but not too bad as of thre latest release
12:28 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> the docs for it are pretty straight forward now
12:28 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> at that point I'd still ratehr redo it
12:28 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> https://kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/machine_config.html
12:28 PM lcnc-relay: <gtkplusplus@discord> it's a fairly messy config anyway
12:29 PM _unreal_: looks like I have one ring left to go
12:29 PM _unreal_: printing wise
12:29 PM _unreal_: making an adapter to interface into the ribbed vacuum hose and onto a reciver that directs the flow into a cyclone in the barrel
12:32 PM _unreal_: just finshed fits perfect
12:41 PM JT-Shop: lcvette please use a pastebin like paste.debian.net
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> https://paste.debian.net/1335112
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> JT-Shop: ^^^
12:46 PM JT-Shop: much better :)
12:48 PM JT-Shop: are you using a deb from buildbot?
12:53 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> we have been testing on several
12:53 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> seems to be there on everything north of 2.9.3-2099-g9f5a1c8f50
12:56 PM JT-Shop: I don't see that one what's the link to that deb page?
12:58 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> sudo apt install linuxcnc-uspace linuxcnc-uspace-dev mesaflash
12:58 PM lcnc-relay: <Lcvette> installed from apt
12:58 PM JT-Cave: ah ok
01:01 PM _unreal_: just wondering, do any of you have cyclone collection barrels?
01:01 PM Tom_L: several here do
01:02 PM _unreal_: as in home shop or business?
01:02 PM _unreal_: I'm more speaking to home
01:02 PM Tom_L: shop
01:02 PM _unreal_: nice...
01:02 PM Tom_L: not em
01:02 PM Tom_L: me
01:02 PM _unreal_: cant wait till this second print finished
01:02 PM Tom_L: roycroft does i know
01:03 PM _unreal_: the second print is the final part
01:03 PM _unreal_: I just installed the IN-lit side
01:03 PM _unreal_: to the lid
01:04 PM _unreal_: the filter mount part is already built printed. all my holes are now cut in the lid. just 2 or more hours of printing
01:04 PM _unreal_: sigh
01:04 PM _unreal_: I'm not sure if I'm good or not with the petg filiment I got
01:05 PM _unreal_: I didnt notice. it was just a hell of a deal. 9 spools for $35
01:05 PM _unreal_: .25kg spools
01:06 PM _unreal_: what is for sure is my delta monoprice does NOT like the higher temp settings
01:06 PM _unreal_: holding 224f/44f with a 225/50 setting. the bed SHOULD be 70
01:08 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, I just go so may tools from the company I work for
01:09 PM _unreal_: gave to me. a JET floor drill press $2500 value, a jet joiner $4500 value, and a hand full of other tools
01:09 PM _unreal_: they decided they were not worth recovering
01:09 PM _unreal_: nothing wrong with any of them...
01:10 PM _unreal_: and no one uses them
01:21 PM _unreal_: god PETG likes to lift
01:31 PM _unreal_: Oh ya I forgot to mention so My neighbor across the road committed suicide last week
01:35 PM acer: and there it goes again. I LITTERALLY JUST opened YT and my wifi crashed
01:35 PM acer: WHY! wtf I dont get it
01:37 PM Tom_L: a sign from the gods... stay off YT
01:39 PM Gluca: Hi all!
01:42 PM xxcoder: hi
01:45 PM Gluca: Are there any Remora expert, on line?
01:49 PM jpa-: heh, it's been three years since i assembled the machine; now i found that both X and Y axis ball screw bearing blocks were loose, causing 0.05 mm backlash
01:50 PM jpa-: apparently they were always that way
02:14 PM _unreal_: ?????????? hex chat crashed?
02:14 PM _unreal_: sigh
02:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> Lol.. organizing..

02:16 PM _unreal_: skunk tell me you DONT know where the adjustables are at least
02:17 PM xxcoder: cone of silence spotted
02:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> lol - plasma booth..
02:17 PM _unreal_: ?
02:17 PM _unreal_: the thing in the top of the second link?/??
02:18 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> yes - a aluminum sat dish used as a exhaust..
02:18 PM _unreal_: I spy a chip/dust collection barrel :)
02:18 PM _unreal_: I'll take a pic of my 30gal when I finish the last part/install
02:18 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> lol - there is probably a shit ton of stuff to spy in that photo
02:20 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, one of my latest additions is a wheeled electric scissor lift 3' lift 175 lb capable
02:20 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> Nice!
02:21 PM _unreal_: ya someone threw it away
02:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> I bought mom an battery powered wheel barrow. She loves it
02:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> I would like a bucket style truck/wheeled thing.. some day
02:21 PM _unreal_: I needed only to de-rust it and add a PSU. and build a custom wiring harness to interface the limit switches
02:22 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> oh - let me show you something...
02:22 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> give me a second
02:22 PM _unreal_: arg..... wish this print would finish. its 95-99 ish percent done
02:22 PM _unreal_: boy you take a long second. I'm up ti 7 so far
02:23 PM _unreal_: 13..... 18....
02:23 PM xxcoder: microsoft time
02:24 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, dont know if you have seen or not but the new machine https://photos.app.goo.gl/ggAPhV6uwbvr4jLs8
02:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/aeddAVdfNCaMKauFtnsVHxWt/465955956_9407281662621642_7347130881232946456_n.mp4
02:33 PM xxcoder: interesting
02:34 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> it is 10' x 4'6" and goes up about 39 inches
02:35 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> dads plan was to sink it into the floor near the door - so you could bring something in and work on it..
02:35 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> (we already have a car lift)
02:36 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> it will lift a mazak qickturn 20 lath..
02:36 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> lathe.
02:36 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> lol
02:37 PM xxcoder: so its easy to uplift yourself ;)
02:37 PM xxcoder: seriously though thats heavy duty lifter
02:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> it will lift higher - it is only half way through its sissor travel.. So maybe another foot or so
02:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/QyOEbLCJsVqPbQAUxDCYjSAV/PXL_20241110_203216589.jpg
02:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> I don't see a 'ratings' tag on it.
02:48 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> well, just finished my 31 mile ride.... and recovery banana shake.....now it's nap time.....
02:52 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> _unreal_: neat!
02:54 PM JT-Shop: 2 more gs20 drives to mount on the subpanel and I'm taking the rest of the week off
02:54 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: dang it, retire already....!!!!
02:55 PM JT-Shop: I could not pass this one up
02:55 PM Tom_L: pics
02:55 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> at least you have some nice weather right now, JT
02:55 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
02:56 PM rdtsc: SW, are those 1.5in rollers on it? Forget sinking it into the concrete... mount 1.5in rails to the floor, zip is across the shop :)
02:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> rdtsc: yes. It was run on rails in its previous life.
02:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> But no.
03:00 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> I mean.. it does kinda roll around as is.. but no
03:01 PM rdtsc: or replace with some big casters
03:01 PM rdtsc: more utilitarian perhaps
03:01 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> Lol
03:03 PM rdtsc: https://shop.servicecaster.com/Swivel-Caster-Polyurethane-Tread-p/scc-30cs520-pur-gb.htm not too unrealistic :)
03:08 PM _unreal_: Just finished putting the 30gal drum together. discovereed it doesnt seal for SHIT. so had to pound out a few areas and use a lite duty caulking for the lid. even the clamp ring does not clamp too tight at all
03:09 PM _unreal_: its really for shipping non environmentally sensitive items I.E. anchor chain. which is what was in it originally
03:09 PM xxcoder: https://youtu.be/f5wnTy_FhdM fun
03:09 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> The main problem is.... There will only be a few places it could be rolled... So not worth it imho
03:09 PM _unreal_: at this point I'd say its prob sealed. going to let the acrylic/sylicon seal do its thing before testing vacuum again.
03:11 PM rdtsc: put a thin coating of wheel grease on one part, silicone the other part, press together, leave cure overnight. in the morn, separate them and remove the grease
03:13 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/KsmzsnFKHIrYJSwCNltTYjpk/1000002556.jpg
03:16 PM rdtsc: JT that's borderline erotica for some folks :)
03:16 PM Tom_L: have fun putin that back in the box
03:16 PM _unreal_: rdtsc, I thought about doing that but the stuff I'm using is so lite duty I just put it straight
03:17 PM _unreal_: jt. LOL that looks like the typicall setup I'll install in the luxury yachts. only dealing with all of the system functions
03:18 PM Tom_L: _unreal_, i did see one down there with a helo pad on it...
03:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/24_trip/ship2.jpg
03:20 PM Tom_L: and that
03:22 PM JT-Shop: yeah I don't look forward to putting the subpanel back in... gonna need help for sure
03:22 PM Tom_L: sure don't wanna break any of it
03:22 PM rdtsc: angle the box back a bit, lift it with cherry picker, get the two bottom bolts started?
03:23 PM Tom_L: slide some boards in the bottom for the pannel to rest on so the holes align
03:23 PM rdtsc: sketchy to do alone for sure
03:23 PM JT-Shop: that might work... the subpanel weighs 50 pounds I doubt the components weight over 30 pounds
03:24 PM JT-Shop: yup real sketchy with one person
03:25 PM Tom_L: i have full confidence...
04:31 PM acer: so just finished playing POOL and air hocky with my daughter.
04:31 PM acer: one thing is for sure a 1/3 sized pool table sucks
04:32 PM acer: even if it is "accurate" per ratios and build the same
04:32 PM acer: still does not have the same feel
04:32 PM acer: pool I defeated my self more then anything
04:32 PM acer: air hocky my daughter and I were more or less 1 for 1
04:32 PM acer: matched set
04:33 PM acer is now known as _unreal_
04:44 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> we got a cheap pool table last christmas. Full sized. Isn't perfectly flat - but we play it every day. Expecially with my daughtor
04:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/tnvyVIZkGqooRjldjGaOMIpF/PXL_20240806_013205811.jpg
04:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> one of the side pockets is very forgiving.. the ball will fall towards it. lol
04:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> none of us are very good. but we certainly are getting better
04:56 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> skunkworks8841@discord: pool can be a very good physics teacher..... conservation of momentum
04:57 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> yes - geometry too
04:59 PM JT-Shop: dang upper control arm has 7/16" metal lock nuts and I can only turn them 1/12 of a turn at a time
04:59 PM JT-Shop: and they are bit hard to get to...
05:06 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: try a ratcheting box wrench
05:06 PM JT-Shop: it broke
05:10 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: you're too strong....big guy
05:10 PM JT-Shop: lol
05:10 PM JT-Shop: it's a master crap from menards
05:11 PM JT-Shop: can't get crapsman locally any more the sears closed down
05:33 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: our Sears is actually still open. amazing. I think they are literally down to about 20 stores in the country. very sad
05:41 PM JT-Shop: ours was a hometown sears and the owner complained about not being able to get crapsman
05:41 PM JT-Shop: shortly after that he closed down
05:42 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> ours is partially shut down. the auto service is closed. was pretty good for simple stuff like batteries....
05:46 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> it's a bit early, but time for a rum and tonic on the deck...... see ya tomorrow.....ciao.
05:49 PM JT-Shop: anyway I got the nuts tight so time to call it a day
05:50 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, no ACE hardware?
05:50 PM Tom_L: they have them as well
05:50 PM Tom_L: here anyway
05:50 PM JT-Shop: hmm, yes we have one
05:50 PM Tom_L: limited selection
05:51 PM Tom_L: 8oz steak and i almost feel too full since my diet
05:52 PM Tom_L: i'm kinda stoked with flex lately
05:52 PM JT-Shop: mahi mahi and scalloped tubers
05:52 PM JT-Shop: I'm super stoked
05:54 PM Tom_L: having the vars not named probe_ works great too... alot handier
05:54 PM JT-Shop: cool
05:54 PM Tom_L: still locks out the actual probing
05:54 PM JT-Shop: what does?
05:55 PM Tom_L: the probe button
05:55 PM Tom_L: the safety button
05:55 PM JT-Shop: as it should
05:56 PM Tom_L: yup
05:56 PM Tom_L: it's nice to be able to make adjustments on the fly now too
05:56 PM JT-Shop: no need for special tool numbers like other gui's
05:56 PM Tom_L: with the vars
05:57 PM JT-Shop: like qtmouse
05:57 PM Tom_L: testing the metric i had to make a few adjustments and it was quick and painless
05:57 PM JT-Shop: sweet
05:58 PM Tom_L: at first i thought it was the sub itself but once the parameters were dialed they worked as expected
06:02 PM Tom_L: i was just looking at the examples and, i have a rpi_mill_3 version here with probe included i may update and push. i need to look it over
06:03 PM Tom_L: it's not in the examples yet
06:03 PM JT-Shop: ok sounds good
06:03 PM Tom_L: i think those would be the only 2 that use probe afik
06:09 PM JT-Shop: time to call it a day
06:23 PM Tom_L: later
06:23 PM Tom_L: i may have this in the am
06:24 PM Tom_L: forgot what the 'info' dialog was called...
06:24 PM Tom_L: found it
06:59 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:01 PM rdtsc: Anyone try opening a .png in flex? https://paste.debian.net/1335138 Axis spawns image-to-gcode to do this apparently. Was able to manually `image-to-gcode FlexGUI-whitebg.png > FlexGUI.ngc`
07:11 PM Tom_L: is that a bug or a feature request? :)
07:12 PM rdtsc: heheh dunno; was hoping it would just work magically :
07:12 PM rdtsc: JT is so thoughtful, was thinking he probably already envisioned it
07:25 PM rdtsc: if not, shouldn't be hard to spawn image-to-gcode... running it a few times, can take a looong time to convert the image though (with no feedback as output is piped to the file.)
07:26 PM rdtsc: sounds like a tomorrow concern... gotta hang out with the missus a little today lol
07:26 PM Tom_L: updating the rpi example here
07:28 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
08:25 PM roycroft: are you about, xxcoder?
08:26 PM xxcoder: yeah
08:26 PM roycroft: i got a power supply for the book scanner today, and it powers up fine
08:26 PM xxcoder: awesome :)
08:26 PM roycroft: i've not installed the software yet, but i'm sure it will work just fine
08:26 PM roycroft: do you know any of the history of the delta printer or small router?
08:27 PM roycroft: as in, do you know that they worked, and if something happened to make them not work any more?
08:27 PM xxcoder: cnc router was bought by me, and I bought electrics system too cheap as I was in tight money budget back then
08:27 PM roycroft: the delta printer has some wiring issues that should be easy to get sorted, but the router looks pretty complete
08:28 PM roycroft: do the drives and motors work, do you know?
08:28 PM xxcoder: it worked fine but I couldnt get it to always move smoothly, probably due to steppers being underpowered
08:28 PM roycroft: ok
08:28 PM xxcoder: spindle psu is missing
08:28 PM xxcoder: couldnt find it anywhere
08:28 PM lcnc-relay: <knoxmachining@discord> Having issues remapping M8 and M9
08:28 PM roycroft: well there's a 24v power supply for the motors, and they can handle up to 42v
08:28 PM lcnc-relay: <knoxmachining@discord> I'm using standard ngc code.. just adding a timerdelay for M8, and M9 turns of the timer..
08:28 PM roycroft: i have a 48v power supply that i can turn down a bit - probably to about 45v, which should be fine
08:29 PM xxcoder: yeah. psu was seperate for spindle and it was larger to handle up to 400w
08:29 PM roycroft: power supplies are easy to come by
08:29 PM roycroft: as long as the drives and stepper motors work it should be easy to get it going
08:29 PM xxcoder: you should have blue sensor, it was for detecting spindle rpm, it has 2 magnets embedded in fan part of spindle
08:29 PM roycroft: thanks
08:29 PM lcnc-relay: <knoxmachining@discord> M9 throws a fit because after setting the timer to 0, I call M9 (like I've done in M6) to call the native M9 command, but it throws error about too many levels..
08:29 PM Tom_L: tight fit but possible on an rpi screen: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/rpi_probe_example.png
08:29 PM roycroft: i don't recall seeing that, but there's a box of stuff i haven't fully sorted through yet
08:30 PM xxcoder: you can see the sensor attachment that was printed lol it was for different sensor that couldnt take the hz speed
08:30 PM lcnc-relay: <knoxmachining@discord> the M8 remap doesn't look like it's firing off the ngc file?
08:30 PM xxcoder: new sensor I never tested, but theoricallt it can read spindle at its max rpm
08:31 PM roycroft: i've hardly been home since i picked the stuff up - i've mostly been at the hold house cleaning up and hauling stuff away
08:31 PM * roycroft brought four carloads of computer gear to the goodwill today
08:31 PM roycroft: the attic is all cleaned out now!
08:32 PM xxcoder: BOB and tb6600s should work fine once you properly configure it. it should be easier since you can hear it move
08:32 PM roycroft: cool
08:32 PM roycroft: i'll replace the "mesa controller card" with a 7i76
08:32 PM xxcoder: far from best lol
08:32 PM roycroft: and then i should be able to talk to it
08:32 PM roycroft: er
08:32 PM roycroft: "mach controller card"
08:32 PM roycroft: i was thinking ahead when i said that at first :)
08:33 PM xxcoder: yeah that was what I was planning lol. replace whole electrics with nice board, and replacing steppers with same dimension but longer (more torque) steppers
08:33 PM roycroft: the machine is also pretty dusty/dirty
08:34 PM roycroft: cleaning it up will probably help it move more easily
08:34 PM roycroft: so that will be high on my list of things to do with it
08:35 PM roycroft: that's not a complaint or criticism, of course
08:35 PM roycroft: just a statement of what it is
08:36 PM xxcoder: yeah been in closet storage for few years. in least it was much cleaner than kossel clear
08:36 PM xxcoder: it was REALLY dirty
08:37 PM xxcoder: kossel clear was given to me couple years ago, wanted to work on it, but health issues made it too hard.
08:41 PM roycroft: it's the least interesting of the three devices to me
08:41 PM roycroft: but i do intend to get it working at some point
08:42 PM xxcoder: its pretty obselete by now, with new hotends and boards out there, but it was interesting history
08:42 PM xxcoder: it has real j-head hotend.
08:43 PM xxcoder: assuming that hotend still works
08:45 PM roycroft: if not it can be replaced
08:46 PM xxcoder: yeah
08:46 PM roycroft: that machine is about 10 years old, no?
08:46 PM xxcoder: not with real j-head, since guy was out of business for years
08:46 PM xxcoder: think so
10:53 PM xxcoder: pretty cool. hes fixing flaw in his belt sander machine
10:53 PM xxcoder: https://youtu.be/zjUBaY6enJE
11:48 PM roycroft: is that the marius hornberger video?
11:48 PM xxcoder: yeah
11:49 PM roycroft: ok, i've been semi-following his project
11:49 PM roycroft: it is pretty interesting
11:49 PM xxcoder: yeah
11:49 PM roycroft: i've just been really busy
11:54 PM xxcoder: yah you got lots irons in fire
