05:01 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@discord> Morning
05:53 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> what would be considered good accelerations for a small lathe like the one i posted
05:58 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@discord> 1cm/sec/sec
05:58 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@discord> 2cm/sec/sec
06:40 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> currently im at 5000mm/sec²
06:40 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> 🤔
06:56 AM rdtsc-wk: is that a chicken runnning around - oh wait, that's Roycroft... bet he'll be glad when this election is over! and probably sleep for a week
06:56 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@discord> no political bullshit!
07:39 AM Tom_L: wow what side of the bed did we get out of today
07:41 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn@discord> Can anyone help me?
07:41 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/ddhJHCVnZAmTDstFNcpwqlwP/P2CNGSXCLM432LYYNN90.png
07:42 AM Tom_L: not sure what you're trying to do

08:03 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, the spindlespeed label doesn't need the precision property now?
08:03 AM JT-Cave: https://youtu.be/37Sh-lieq9Y
08:03 AM JT-Cave: I don't think that ever worked
08:04 AM Tom_L: i had it set on my ui
08:04 AM Tom_L: when i was messin with it
08:05 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle_feedback_test2.mp4
08:05 AM JT-Cave: which label exactly?
08:05 AM Tom_L: that was part of that test iirc
08:05 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:05 AM Tom_dev: spindlespeed
08:06 AM JT-Cave: Spindle Commanded Speed QLabel spindle_speed_0_lb ?
08:07 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindelspeed.png
08:08 AM Tom_L: that's actual speed from the encoder
08:08 AM Tom_L: not commanded
08:08 AM JT-Cave: that's a hal button not a spindle status label
08:10 AM Tom_L: nevermind then
08:10 AM Tom_L: the spindle ones only showed commanded speed iirc
08:11 AM Tom_L: ready for a deb?
08:12 AM JT-Cave: yup
08:12 AM JT-Cave: there is an actual spindle speed label spindle_actual_speed_lb
08:13 AM Tom_dev: not sure i've tried that one
08:13 AM Tom_dev: #171
08:15 AM Tom_dev: aparently i am...it's in the ui
08:18 AM Tom_dev: and it doesn't exceed max rpm either :)
08:19 AM JT-Cave: fixed a few spindle things this morning
08:19 AM JT-Cave: time to start my chicken day
08:19 AM Tom_dev: seem to work ok
09:37 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> good morning. well, maybe not that good. we're all screwed to the wall.
09:37 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT and Tom, at least you guys don't live in Cal....
10:30 AM BorgPipe is now known as NetPipe
10:42 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/txCMxgkgzZUVTwSyylqTVeyk/20241106_183328.mp4
10:42 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> we getting there
10:42 AM lcnc-relay: <sodakaustik@discord> with just a vfd
11:07 AM JT-Shop: cool
11:38 AM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/issues/172
11:40 AM Tom_L: that's cool
11:41 AM Tom_L: good to see ppl using it
11:42 AM JT-Shop: yup
11:42 AM Tom_L: run from line wouldn't work for him would it?
11:42 AM JT-Shop: dunno
11:42 AM JT-Shop: not exactly sure what he needs
11:42 AM Tom_L: sounds kinda what he's doing
11:44 AM Tom_L: the way he describs his code sounds like repeated subroutines
11:46 AM Tom_L: or could be
11:47 AM Tom_L: interesting anyway...
11:49 AM Tom_L: ok, lunch thirty has passed.. out the door again
02:15 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/issues/172
02:21 PM jmkasunich: does PCW still show up here?
02:25 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> John!
02:26 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> He does - but I don't know if I have seen him in a few days
02:26 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> How have you been?
02:30 PM jmkasunich: doing a thousand other things, as usual
02:30 PM jmkasunich: but I find myself dusting off my 5i20,7i39, and 7i30 boards
02:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> the 2 5i20's are still running the k&t.
02:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> it 'just works' tm
02:32 PM jmkasunich: I'm trying to run a brushless servo and microstep a stepper (using the PWM outputs of the 7i30 quad H-bridge) for my day job; using HAL as a breadboard for stuff that will eventually be embedded in an STM32 microcontroller
02:33 PM jmkasunich: it doesn't look like there is a firmware that supports both 7i39 (three-phase PWM) and 7i30 (H-bridges) at the same time
02:35 PM jmkasunich: the next best thing would be to use the 7i39 on the first ribbon cable with a config that doesn't touch the other two cables, then shut that down and use the 7i30 on the second cable with a config that doesn't touch the first cable. but it looks like it always assigns things to the first cable first regardless of how many or few pwmgens or
02:35 PM jmkasunich: encoders I ask for
02:37 PM jmkasunich: this project has been a blast from the past... I last used the 7i39 to run a little pittman brushless motor at one of the workshops, I think at Stuart's place
02:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> neat! I ran some amc drives that take pwm+dir and ran them from a 5i25.. it worked really good for those pittman motors. (converted a emco lathe)
02:40 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> I have to say - thank you - your Hal has been such a cool toolbox to play with.
02:46 PM skunkworks: jmkasunich: this is 'spindle synced motion' done in hal.. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/23bEsKMNJH0
02:48 PM jmkasunich: holy crap, that d-hole cutting!
02:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> yep
02:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> just a bit of math... lol
02:49 PM skunkworks: jmkasunich: it works with the spiny bits too.. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nViXP9SsdWc
02:50 PM skunkworks: that was the emco lathe - with the pittman servos replacing the crap steppers.
02:52 PM skunkworks: obviously limited by the axis accereration - but for one offs or shapes that are hard to machine other ways..
02:54 PM jmkasunich: I was wondering how hard it was pushing the axis motors
02:54 PM jmkasunich: pretty cool stuff
02:56 PM xxcoder: roycroft: cant find spindle psu, the spindle is 400w. you probably could buy a psu sized to your future router and just use it
03:33 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, that's cool.. i bet you can fix something up for him
03:38 PM xxcoder: whew, ut everything in car ready for trip tomorrow lol
03:40 PM JT-Shop: yeah it should only be a small challenge :)
03:47 PM Tom_L: i think the way he described it, he could do it with subroutines though
03:48 PM Tom_L: run from line doesn't work with them though afik
03:55 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:37 PM JT-Shop: simon has a new video
05:57 PM Tom_L: nice
05:58 PM Tom_L: that might be cool to have a plugin module you can call from the ini to import special features
05:58 PM Tom_L: dunno how possible that is
