11:46 AM rdtsc-wk: Today's random: Tried gluing in a new light curtain lens using UV-cure epoxy (intended for PCB repair.) Worked, but quite messy and fiddly. Not sure I'd recommend it.
12:01 PM JT-Cave: nap time
01:12 PM Guest59: 32-bit support for rtai possible?
01:13 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> Hi anyone know how to dowload linuxCNC on a raspberry pi 5
01:13 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> No download works
01:13 PM Tom_L: the one here doesn't work? http://linuxcnc.org/downloads/
01:14 PM rdtsc-wk: use that, the .iso is the way to go
01:14 PM rdtsc-wk: also check the forums for any pi5 peculiarities
01:17 PM Tom_L: take note of the user/password while you're there
01:25 PM rdtsc-wk: @Guest59 dunno
01:27 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> LinuxCNC 2.9.3 Debian 12 Bookworm PREEMPT-RT ISO
01:27 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> is this the one i have to download
01:28 PM rdtsc-wk: https://www.linuxcnc.org/iso/rpi-5-debian-bookworm-6.1.61-rt15-arm64-ext4-2023-11-17-1520.img.xz
01:30 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> rdtsc-wk: Is this the proper download for the LinuxCNC
01:30 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> ???
01:30 PM rdtsc-wk: that is a file you can burn with Raspberry Pi Imager
01:30 PM rdtsc-wk: specifically for Rpi5
01:31 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> but this is made for the linuxCNC program??
01:31 PM JT-Shop: https://www.linuxcnc.org/iso/
01:31 PM JT-Shop: if you want to view the directory
01:31 PM rdtsc-wk: this .iso contains Debian pre-built for the Rpi5, plus Linuxcnc
01:32 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, the clear offsets seem to work
01:35 PM Tom_L: it's an rpi image file
01:35 PM JT-Shop: did you test out the latest push?
01:35 PM Tom_L: i think so
01:35 PM Tom_L: i tested 'current' anyway
01:36 PM Tom_L: writing to the var file lags but that's normal
01:36 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/commit/fda2a6adf38bec4b7aa618aa50c381dbb2cd32e6
01:36 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/commit/1bbda4638809cd1c4029a7410f813ae9c602fb9a
01:37 PM Tom_L: i set an ini value for that
01:37 PM JT-Shop: cool
01:37 PM Tom_L: did you do something different?
01:38 PM JT-Shop: if you don't have an ini setting for tool editor it only shows the axes in the config and dia as well as the default columns
01:38 PM Tom_L: ahh ok
01:38 PM JT-Shop: that was the first commit, the second added the ini setting for columns
01:38 PM Tom_L: i'll build again.. looks like i got ahead of myself this morning
01:40 PM Guest59: Audio drivers gurus?
01:40 PM Tom_L: huh? i couldn't hear you
01:41 PM Tom_L: somebody was messin with audio here last couple days..
01:42 PM Guest59: Not me
01:42 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, deb is ready
01:42 PM Guest59: I need activate buffer 32 in hdsp.c
01:42 PM Guest59: Need help in that
01:45 PM Tom_L: google just that and see what pops up
01:48 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, the tool editor hack must work. i commented that line out in my ini and ran the sim and it was the same
01:48 PM Tom_L: otherwise it would have shown all the columns
01:50 PM Tom_L: and the ini setting overrides which it should
01:50 PM Guest59: I don't.use gugl. It's crap
01:50 PM Tom_L: you just gotta talk nice to it
01:57 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> rdtsc-wk: do i just set this up as my operating system
01:58 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> on the pi imager
02:02 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> Its showing up as DVD. what did i download
02:02 PM lcnc-relay: <electroboo@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/RCfoLulnHGtukqoYbgNRynxG/image.png
02:04 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, which line?
02:05 PM JT-Shop: oh I see I added something I didn't need to
02:06 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/gui/tooledit.html#_columns_selection
02:06 PM JT-Shop: that info is not in the ini config section :(
03:06 PM Tom_L: the TOOL_EDITOR = line
03:06 PM Tom_L: oh
03:13 PM Tom_L: yeah you'd think they would mention the columns there
03:19 PM Tom_L: electroboo did you DL this: rpi-5-debian-bookworm-6.1.61-rt15-arm64-ext4-2023-11-17-1520.img.xz ?
04:03 PM * JT-Shop punches out
05:06 PM JT-Shop: RF upper control arm is primed and the shaft is primed and painted
05:39 PM JT-Shop: and painted now
05:48 PM roycroft: finally, i have compressed air inside my shop
05:48 PM roycroft: since the paint is dry on that section of wall, i was able to mount the air plumbing and hook up a hose reel
05:48 PM roycroft: dust collector is next, and should not take too long to get going
06:09 PM JT-Shop: night
07:27 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
07:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> The air compressor dad fixed is still going.. I think he made a brass bearing for one or both of the connecting rods.m
07:49 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> (it had been run low on oil)
07:49 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> It was our first 2 stage compressor
07:50 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> Now we have an almost new one that dad got from an auction - when the old one does
07:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@discord> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/IJJJTMbeUkgirXwetUgEuhlT/PXL_20241105_014447644.jpg

07:54 PM Tom_L: mine is quite similar to the first one
07:54 PM roycroft: so much for getting the dust collector online
07:54 PM roycroft: it's almost ready to go, but i need a 5-1/4" hole saw for the wall penetration
07:54 PM roycroft: and i don't have one
07:55 PM Tom_L: find a tool you have to cut it
07:55 PM roycroft: the national chain big box home improvement stores don't stock them
07:55 PM roycroft: but jerry's might have one in stock
07:55 PM roycroft: or maybe 5-3/8" - that's a common size for recessed lighting can cutouts
07:55 PM roycroft: and it's close enough that it would work
07:55 PM roycroft: there's going to be a collar on both sides and some spray foam holding it in place
07:56 PM * roycroft will get back to that project tomorrow
07:56 PM xxcoder: yo roy
07:56 PM roycroft: i still have to finish the power hook-up for the dust collector, but that won't take long, and i want the ducting at least going into the shop before i do the power
07:56 PM roycroft: hi xxcoder
07:57 PM roycroft: i still have friday pencilled out for a trip to pdx
07:57 PM roycroft: or pencilled in, rather
07:57 PM roycroft: it's on my calendar
07:57 PM xxcoder: ok no problem. will pm you my ohone #? for messaging. I dont use any irc or discord on phone
07:58 PM roycroft: sure, but maybe tomorrow?
07:58 PM roycroft: i'm stepping away right now, and i have a board meeting tonight
07:58 PM roycroft: but i'll be around tomorrow evening
07:58 PM roycroft: and somewhat during the day
07:58 PM roycroft: oh, and i cannot do text messaging
07:58 PM roycroft: so that might be a problem
07:59 PM roycroft: anyway, i have to go, so we can get things sorted tomorrow
07:59 PM xxcoder: no poblem
07:59 PM xxcoder: yeah gonna figure how to keep in contact. have good meeting
08:26 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
