02:59 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> linuxcnc PATH_TO_INI 2>&1 | tee -a PATH_TO_LOG
02:59 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> ?
03:20 AM NoSpark: Kinda
03:20 AM NoSpark: I do still want normal output on the console
03:21 AM NoSpark: ig I was hoping that there was seperate debugging levels for the console and the log file
03:22 AM NoSpark: seems that log and print have seperate levels
03:22 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> # echo blaaaa | tee -a /tmp/log
03:22 AM lcnc-relay: blaaaa
03:22 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> # cat /tmp/log
03:22 AM lcnc-relay: blaaaa
03:22 AM NoSpark: that was more like what I was thinkink, or even tail /tmp/log
03:23 AM NoSpark: the problem is, that the log files are tiny, compared to stdout

05:09 AM JT-Mobile: morning
05:25 AM pere: I'm locking the weblate translation to update the PO files with the latest documentation changes.
05:54 AM Tom_L: morning
06:15 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Morning
06:59 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Sun is almost up here
08:09 AM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
08:22 AM rdtsc: Morning gents. Lots changing pere?
09:37 AM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
09:53 AM pere: quite a lot, and the test builds take some time.
09:53 AM pere: translations are open again now.
09:58 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, PR #114
10:27 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Covid just hit my 95 year old grandmother 😦 and mom is sick...
10:30 AM Tom_L: rdtsc, i just posted updated debs
10:30 AM Tom_L: guess he left
10:30 AM Tom_L: travis :/
10:31 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> my dad can't afford to get covid... he has leukemia
10:33 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/
10:34 AM Tom_L: those are ahead of JT since he's afk
10:34 AM Tom_L: your fix should be in there iirc
10:36 AM Tom_L: maybe not, that was something else
10:38 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> oh, mine?
10:41 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> mine i think is a python issue. my guess is it is either a blocking loop, somehow, or it is reading HAL pins too fast and not giving HAL a chance to update for M66 reads
10:45 AM * roycroft is getting his new covid vaccine on monday
10:45 AM roycroft: the pharmacy has been going through it as fast as they can get it, but they told me monday should be good if i go in early
10:49 AM Tom_L: pfizer loves to hear that
10:52 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> posted an update to my issue #112 i will test this afternoon... just a hunch...
10:54 AM roycroft: they're using moderna, actually
10:55 AM roycroft: i would prefer pfizer, but moderna will be ok
10:55 AM roycroft: as long as it's not j&j
11:22 AM roycroft: time to head to the old shop for some dump runs and retrieving plumbing tools and supplies
11:22 AM Tom_L: one day you'll be done
11:35 AM roycroft: i sure hope so
11:35 AM roycroft: note that i no longer day "head to the old house"
11:35 AM roycroft: say
11:35 AM roycroft: because that part is done
12:01 PM Tom_L: started on touch-probe3
12:18 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> man, i found an "anime" button on the fanuc gui the other day
12:19 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> idk what it does, but i like it even more now.
12:32 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna add a button that says "DON'T PUSH"
12:33 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> LMAO
12:34 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> have it be a MDI button for "G0 X1000000 Y1000000 Z1000000" 😉
12:35 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> and some m4 s1000000
12:35 PM Tom_L: or 'quit'
12:35 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> wait, -z10000000000
12:35 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> haha
12:36 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i tried my hunch, with my thoughts on a fix... no change in GUI hang 😦
12:36 PM Tom_L: so what widgets should ALWAYS show on the screen?
12:36 PM Tom_L: plot, gcode...
12:37 PM Tom_L: estop
12:37 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i woouldnt even say ploty or gcode
12:37 PM Tom_L: well we're going with that :)
12:37 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> plot only matters if you are moving and want to see it
12:37 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> gcode only matters if your in auto
12:37 PM Tom_L: axis thought it was important but it is on a tab there
12:37 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> this goes back to my fanuc comments, which will send captn in a rage,
12:38 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> the way the fanuc one is setup,
12:38 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> only the things you need withy eachother are on the screen at any given time
12:38 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> axis is old and busted, with no other screens, only the main one
12:39 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Axis doesn't Hang on my routines...
12:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ps i love axis the most
12:39 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> but i love Flex
12:39 PM Tom_L: axis is the GOTO gui
12:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but, you dont need a gcode display in manual mode
12:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> you dont need tool offsets with mdi,
12:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> you dont need mdi with gcode, you dont need x with y
12:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> kinda thuing
12:40 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> sounds like you are describing my Flex.ui
12:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah its all about thinking through the operations so the screen isnt a cluttered mess
12:42 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but maybe it means being able to scroll through subsets up widgets aswell, you dont need every button on screen at all times, but it also depends if you want physical buttons or not
12:42 PM Tom_L: do you need a home for every axis or is home all sufficient?
12:43 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> lol how linuxcnc do you want to be?
12:43 PM Tom_L: it's your path
12:43 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ive never intentuionally usecd the home individual axis, but somepeople do
12:43 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> home is another example,. doesnt need to be on all the tim,er
12:44 PM Tom_L: i figure if you do one, you should do them all
12:44 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah dont know the use case, and ive only ever done it by accident
12:44 PM Tom_L: i can't ever remember a cnc that i homed only one axis
12:44 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but i think my modified plasmac gui always displays home all
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> first thing i do after power on is home all
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> so idk how to do indicidual ones
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> oh man i cant wait to setup my home with index
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i feel lame for being excited about that
12:45 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but my pos board doesnt have enough IO
12:46 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but yeah realistically, just do home all, or put in the logic so it can auto configuere
12:47 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
12:48 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> theres some ciode in axis that configures it to individual axis home, or home all
12:48 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i think usign hal pins?
12:49 PM Tom_L: dunno
12:49 PM Tom_L: i know some sims home all and some don't
12:50 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah i only rememberd when i had to resize my home akll button recently
12:50 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> https://github.com/cakeslob/regularmac_800/blob/main/usercommand_regularmac_800.py#L2123
12:51 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i think im forcing it to do home all, but theres a hal condition or something that makes it individual or single
12:53 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> dammit, next big thing is, figure out a toolsetter macro that works easy with this axis probe thing
12:53 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> https://github.com/hausen8/EasyProbe
12:53 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> and then merge it all into a python file so i dont have to do hal or use a pyvcp
12:54 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> how are you guys doing atoolsetter? writing offsets to tooltable or changing g54?
12:56 PM Tom_L: i write to the tool table
12:57 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> k, are you using versers or probebasic>?
12:57 PM Tom_L: i don't have a tool setter to test on
12:57 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> damn
12:57 PM Tom_L: i used the probe to test the routine
12:58 PM Tom_L: jogs to the xy location then probes
12:58 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> lmao i was thinking about doing the same thing so i dont have to do an or logic for probe
12:58 PM Tom_L: i'm using neither
12:58 PM Tom_L: this is why i bought that cheapass probe
12:59 PM Tom_L: adding an or isn't a big deal
12:59 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i think i wanna buy that same one so i diont trash my renishjaw
12:59 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its not, but everything with linuxcnc is a whole thing
12:59 PM Tom_L: you can find them for 60ish, most are 75+
12:59 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> so, are you just using a z probe oprobe routine but writing to tooltable?
12:59 PM Tom_L: and i found replacement tips for it
01:00 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> m2?
01:00 PM Tom_L: it's in the deb i think
01:00 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i gotta find some ceramic tips for mine
01:00 PM Tom_L: i've looked at so much crap since then i don't remember
01:00 PM Tom_L: ruby
01:00 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i know whats gonna happen with a steel probe shanks
01:00 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> well always truby
01:01 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but the shank, i know whats gonna happen with a steel shank
01:01 PM Tom_L: https://www.carbideprobes.com/
01:01 PM Tom_L: they'll have what you want
01:01 PM Tom_L: probably
01:02 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> itas the whole weakest link thing
01:03 PM Tom_L: i don't need 5 place accuracy for what i'm doing
01:03 PM Tom_L: the math is either right or wrong
01:04 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> oh no, im talking about when i smash it
01:04 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> dont
01:04 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ha,
01:05 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> if you use the probe enought, you will smash it
01:05 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its unavoidable
01:05 PM Tom_L: it's one of those cut twice check once things..... errr...
01:05 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i only crashed 3
01:05 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> you can be the most careful, but it happens
01:06 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> and when it does, id rather the stylii explode
01:06 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> then my renishaw
01:06 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i got it for free, but to replace it will be a lot
01:12 PM Tom_L: what thread?
01:14 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> m2
01:15 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i dont think the make ceramic ones for m2
01:15 PM Tom_L: https://www.carbideprobes.com/products/?_categories=straight&_male_thread=m2x0-4&_stem_material=ceramic&_sort_by=by_product_name_asc
01:15 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> oh they had a filter
01:16 PM Tom_L: yup
01:16 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> fresh
01:16 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> $45 not bad
01:16 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> usd
01:17 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> lol im pretty sure the renishaw wireless toolsetter is just a probe turned sideways
01:19 PM Tom_L: no doubt
01:19 PM Tom_L: maybe a bit heavier spring
01:23 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> <-- heads out to test another hunch...
01:46 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: hey, if I find something off, how do I report it?
01:58 PM {HD}_ is now known as {HD}
02:01 PM Tom_L: like?
02:02 PM Tom_L: file an issue on his git page
02:03 PM Tom_L: i pushed the probe routines but he hasn't commited them yet
02:03 PM Tom_L: i built debs on my site with them if you want em
02:08 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: the text value for the rapidoverride does not work... I've checked several example ui's
02:08 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> including yours
02:35 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Tom_L: so when you are running your routines, does the plot display freeze up? have you noticed?
02:35 PM lcnc-relay: JT: i added some videos to the git issue, i hope they show better the hang.
02:45 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> https://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/gcode/m-code.html#mcode:m7-m8-m9
02:47 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> when did LCNC just start crashing when you run programs with M-codes that are not included in your HAL setup?
02:49 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i wonder if somehow that is related to my issue with FlexGUI? https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/issues/112
02:52 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> I generated a simple 3-axis mill config. At first an M6 would lock it up. Fixed by https://forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-questions/41218-linuxcnc-locks-up-on-t1-m6-manual-tool-change
02:53 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> but same issue when M7, M8, M9 Coolant Control is run
02:54 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> shouldn't LCNC report: Unknown m code vs locking up when a program is run with an M-code it doesn't understand?
02:55 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i would think
02:55 PM Tom_L: roguish he just fixed that one recentl
02:55 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> have to investigate
02:56 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: I only have the deb from 3 days ago
02:56 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> roguish: and I did put in an issue in github
02:57 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> nap time ........
03:06 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> what version you guys running>?
03:06 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i should really update
03:06 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> LinuxCNC or Flex?
03:07 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> linuxcnc
03:07 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> 2.9.2
03:07 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but i just read the thread capn was reffing
03:07 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> hasnt that always been the case for the m6?
03:08 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> er, well i guess the one i have now, just does m6 and nothing actually happens except the tool changes
03:08 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> now i need to check
03:09 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> im usign 2.9pre
03:10 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SwsatEJn9k
03:11 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> to whome it concerns, on http://linuxcnc.org/downloads/, the debs for 2.9.3 point to 2.9.2
03:12 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> not sure when the M-Codes problem began
03:13 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> is it m codes or just m6?
03:16 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> after the m-6 fix I heard it's now choking on M7, M8, M9
03:16 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> have to investigate further
03:18 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> LCNC should parse the program and let you know about what it can't handle/understand vs lock up
03:19 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> I haven't kept up with LCNC issues other than RTAI in the past couple years
03:23 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah, thats the thing, i was pretty sure it did do that
03:24 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> im almost positive it is suppossed to do that, because i was pissed off when i was running a 3d surface and it stopped like 1.5 hours into my program because of some radii
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> it don't no more it seems, latest in the repos
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> lcnc does/is suppossed to pre-run the whole program, and all the errors should appear before you even run it
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> it used to
03:26 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> oh well
03:27 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> who is doing QC these days?
03:27 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> answer: we are
03:28 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> just like my last post about the debs version being wrong...
03:31 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Travis Farmer i saw your post about that somewhere
03:31 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> do you have a link to where that bad link is?
03:32 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> http://linuxcnc.org/downloads/
03:32 PM lcnc-relay: under the heading "LinuxCNC Packages"
03:33 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> all the 2.9.3 deb links point to 2.9.2
03:42 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> https://discord.com/channels/813870433165508688/923034892147781632/1288581541240377364
03:42 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> drunken EDM ?
03:45 PM Tom_L: roguish, http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/
03:45 PM Tom_L: today
03:46 PM Tom_L: roguish, rapid override display works, make sure he didn't rename it
03:47 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Travis Farmer wish I knew somebody with access to that page to fix the links
03:48 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> yeah, i know the feeling
03:49 PM Tom_L: roguish, rapid_override_lb
03:49 PM Tom_L: it works here
03:49 PM Tom_L: with rapid_override_sl
04:05 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Travis Farmer I'll let you post the issue on the forums about the wrong links
04:06 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> ok
04:09 PM rdtsc: @pere, Travis found that the 2.9.3 .deb links on https://linuxcnc.org/downloads/ actually point to 2.9.2 - can whomever edits that page update them please? ty
04:10 PM * rdtsc is back after tons of updates and an impromptu Costco visit :)
04:10 PM pere: no idea where that content is updated, sorry
04:10 PM pere: andypugh__: do you know?
04:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> zen and the art of plasma cutting..
04:10 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> arn't all costco visits "impromptu" 😉

04:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> +/-.001 good enough for a farmer?
04:13 PM rdtsc: Nice SW, reaming it out a touch?
04:13 PM rdtsc: well boring
04:13 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> he ordered the wrong pto - had a spline..
04:15 PM rdtsc: it had an unneeded spline, or you have to resize and spline it?
04:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> unneeded spline - need it bored out to 1.375
04:16 PM rdtsc: aahhh whew, splining inner sounded tricky :)
04:16 PM rdtsc: was thinking EDM at that point lol
04:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> yah - not setup for that. I mean the shaper could do it - but I would have to come up with a way to index it and such.
04:18 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> and not that EDM ^^^^
04:18 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> way more work than what I would be willing to do or the guy to pay.
04:18 PM rdtsc: umm-tsss ummm-tsss ummmm-tssss hehehe
04:21 PM rdtsc: Installed the latest Tom, will give 'er a try
04:31 PM rdtsc: running fine
04:33 PM Tom_L: touch-probe3 is on the chalkboard
05:52 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away

06:28 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, hah
06:29 PM Tom_L: how old is he now?
06:33 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> 9
06:33 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> 4th grade
06:34 PM Tom_L: they grow up really fast
06:34 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> he said it is kinda scary....
06:34 PM Tom_L: yeah well he ain't had slag in his boot yet either :)
06:35 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> he did.. I need to get him some leather boots
06:35 PM Tom_L: woops
07:30 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> long day
07:31 PM Tom_L: still on the road?
07:35 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Yup, just getting some chow before retiring for the night

07:35 PM Tom_L: have a peek
07:36 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Got 1 bar
07:36 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Have to look when we get back to the motel
07:36 PM Tom_L: ok
07:37 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> We're just a few miles from the motel
07:37 PM Tom_L: pushed a couple changes too i think
07:38 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Ok
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> We got to be in the winners parade!
07:40 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Got 1st place in the C8 Stingray fuel economy run
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> 27.5 mpg over 100 miles of hills
07:43 PM Tom_L: not too bad
07:43 PM Tom_L: i was surprised how good mileage the boys' trucks got when we went to galveston
07:44 PM Tom_L: ~30 mpg iirc
07:45 PM Tom_L: not in town...
07:45 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> The poker run dropped my mpg for the trip by 2.5 mpg lol
07:45 PM Tom_L: what was the oldest vette there?
07:46 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> IIRC a 60 C1
07:46 PM Tom_L: wow
07:46 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> There was 6 C1's
07:47 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> One had a LS3 engine
07:51 PM Tom_L: not stock
07:52 PM Tom_L: you can get a turnkey 600hp one for $20k
07:52 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> He had a custom frame with independent rear suspension and a whole lot of other stuff
07:53 PM Tom_L: https://www.texas-speed.com/p-3583-tsp-418-cid-600-hp-ls3-turn-key-package.aspx
07:53 PM Tom_L: oh.. not for road use :)
07:55 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Probably illegal in California
07:56 PM Tom_L: what isn't beside dope?
07:57 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> You can't ship paper catalogs to California lol
08:06 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
08:06 PM Tom_L: rdtsc, you see touch-probe3?
08:06 PM rdtsc: I did, looks nice!
08:08 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> You're up to 3?
08:08 PM Tom_L: if i run it on the mill, i'll find out what's missing
08:08 PM Tom_L: JT yup
08:09 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Cool
08:35 PM Tom_L: on a tool setter do you subtract the setter height for the tool length offset?
08:35 PM Tom_L: that's one i'm not quite sure of since i don't have a tool setter
08:36 PM Tom_L: it moves to the setter location, probes the tool and updates the tool table. i need to figure out about the setter offset

08:57 PM JT-Mobile: Tom_L, probe 3 is looking good
09:05 PM JT-Mobile: holy crap batman it's 9pm and I'm still vertical
09:21 PM JT-Mobile: Tom_L, https://pasteboard.co/UYlFJtF9YoRP.png
09:22 PM JT-Mobile: got the homing unhoming and coordinate system clear sub menus figured out this morning
09:22 PM JT-Mobile: add a menu item called Homing and the rest is magic :)
09:27 PM Tom_L: nice
09:27 PM Tom_L: i added a button for the coordinate reset but that's easy to change
09:28 PM Tom_L: there were a handfull of things you were gonna add to the menu items too...
09:28 PM Tom_L: i forgot what they were
09:28 PM JT-Mobile: home, unhome and coordinate system clear
09:29 PM Tom_L: is there any way to make the recents file a button?
09:29 PM JT-Mobile: hmm dunno
09:29 PM Tom_L: i know it's not one we add to the menu
09:29 PM JT-Mobile: you can have a menu button
09:30 PM Tom_L: any thoughts on the color combination i dreamed up?
09:30 PM JT-Mobile: way past my bed time
09:30 PM JT-Mobile: I like the blue
09:30 PM Tom_L: light green text pops a bit better than black
09:30 PM JT-Mobile: cool
09:31 PM Tom_L: couldn't really think of another color for that
09:31 PM * JT-Mobile calls it a night
09:32 PM Tom_L: me too
09:32 PM JT-Mobile: say goodnight gracie
09:32 PM Tom_L: later
09:36 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away

11:16 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> same here tom, i finally got all my inputs sorted, and subs
11:16 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> then i realized, where is my toolsetter and how do i set the tooltable
11:17 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i started trying to use this one, afinaklly got everything working, then realized this one sets g54 i think
11:17 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> because its not changing tools
11:18 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> tooltable
11:19 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but after i figure out how to update tooltable, i need to figure out where my toolsetter is, because its below the travel of my cnc
11:19 PM _unreal_: heh
11:19 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its like 5mm below the max z travel
11:19 PM _unreal_: I need to figure out imediate STOP on my spindle
11:19 PM _unreal_: this RAMP down stuff is pissing me off
11:20 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> if you have a real motor, dont you need some kind of braking resistor?
11:20 PM _unreal_: I just started a 1min cnc job. only to realize I had not tightened my adjustable dust shot height
11:21 PM _unreal_: so when the z went down the clear issing glass held the shoe up pressing on the base of the spindle
11:21 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> you are right unreal, its only midnight
11:21 PM _unreal_: and bogged it
11:21 PM _unreal_: yep
11:21 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i should get drunk and try to figure this out
11:21 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> the pissing glass?
11:21 PM _unreal_: I just did a cut out on a cover plate for a single stepper self control driver
11:22 PM _unreal_: this
11:22 PM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGWW6RRN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
11:22 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> oh slick
11:25 PM _unreal_: that will drive this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B99ZH9C1?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
11:25 PM _unreal_: which is for cooling a small bit when milling stone
11:25 PM _unreal_: AND or water mist when milling aluminum
11:26 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i guess easier than connecting it to lcnc
11:26 PM _unreal_: its fast enough for small bits on stone but I can control it down to nothing for mist. it would be nice if there was was PC control hook ups though :/
11:26 PM _unreal_: I'd rather connect i to a motion controller but oh well
11:26 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> but its just a stepper motor
11:27 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> wait are you not into linuxcnc>?
11:27 PM _unreal_: 7i96
11:28 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> am i missing some key detaiL/
11:28 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ?
11:28 PM _unreal_: no?
11:29 PM _unreal_: its a setup for a high degree of control water pump
11:29 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> allow me to play devils advocate
11:29 PM _unreal_: that would be a pain to code into gcode
11:29 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its for cooliong isnt it?
11:29 PM _unreal_: especially if I found I needed to adjust the flow mid operation
11:29 PM _unreal_: yes
11:30 PM _unreal_: if would be nice if I could at least control stop/start with the motion contoller
11:30 PM _unreal_: make that part of the gcode
11:30 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> connect it to like m7 or something?
11:30 PM _unreal_: ya
11:31 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> do you have some kind of fancy nozzle on it to make it mist flow?
11:31 PM _unreal_: no
11:31 PM _unreal_: no yet
11:34 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ok, because im just wondering how you get such a flow with peristaltic
11:35 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> unless you have some sweet nozzle in mind
11:36 PM _unreal_: I have 2 micro air compressors, they are diaphram brushelss based. I use one on my laser etcher and its more then enough as an air assist. so I am hoping 2 in parallel on this cnc machine will be enough to clear lite small chips and push enough air via a small tube to kind of mist water
11:36 PM _unreal_: I'm NOT expecting a perfect mister setup. the air pressure will be way too low
11:37 PM _unreal_: no sweet nozzel. likely going to DIY it like I do everything
11:37 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i need something like that but vaccume to suck thw chips
11:38 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> hmm or i go to be relatively sober and do cnc drinking all day
11:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> dammit i think i need to piggyback off a known reference point to find my toolsetter height
