01:05 AM Deejay: moin
02:47 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> if all goes well I can have a look at a Seiko Epson PS3 today
03:05 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> the christmas gift 😄
03:29 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> yes, a little early 🙂
03:41 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> in the end you get one for you?
03:46 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> That's why I watch it
04:16 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:22 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> can you keep me posted? I still get your offer in my mind and I'm curious about the technical decision you will have to make, especially AC drivers which are missing and costly
04:26 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> that i brought you one of these was actually just a joke ,
04:26 AM lcnc-relay: but there are 2 of them, maybe I can organize something. one weighs 50Kg, I think you can send something like that by mail
04:27 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> soo, i'm off then, i'll report back 🙂
04:30 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> sure, i was thinking about a european pallet
04:30 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> 200€
04:30 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> I already got my milling machine from germany like this 🙂
04:30 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> i wasn't expecting you knicking at my door 😄
04:42 AM Tom_L: morning
06:33 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> ok, good news and bad news
06:33 AM lcnc-relay: the robots seem to be ok
06:33 AM lcnc-relay: but a friend i went with has now claimed the 2nd one for himself, sorry
06:34 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> no worries
06:34 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> but still interested in how you decided to handle your project in the future 🙂
06:34 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> 700Euro for both 😎
06:35 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> i will open a thread in forum
06:35 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> this is an issue i always struggle with (ac motor without drivers)
06:35 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> do you already have a plan?
06:35 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> yes, i'm still afraid of that too, especially because i'm not at all familiar with it 😦
06:36 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> no plan yet 🤣
06:37 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://multixmedia.org/ps3.jpg
06:37 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> rene-dev is here, you can ask maybe
06:37 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> regarding stmbl drivers
06:37 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> wouldn't have thought that 2 industrial robots would fit in my car ;P
06:38 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> ahah seems more than 50kg per robot indead
06:38 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> the stmbl driver are not really cheap 😦
06:38 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> no, 51Kg, i can lift it alone
06:39 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> not both 🙂
06:39 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> OK 🙂
06:39 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> no but at least it could allow you to keep the same motor
06:39 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> you can also look for an original driver
06:40 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> but not always easy
06:41 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> complete robot (incl. controller) on ebay cost 3 to 6k 😦
06:42 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> great, my friend is at work now and i can't get them out of the car on my own without fear of scratching something 😦
06:42 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> I would love to unscrew one...
06:43 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> I'll give it a try
06:43 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> .... afk
06:47 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Morning
06:51 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> hi
06:52 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> it has been in the stairwell before, but lifting 50kg and moving 50kg is something else 🥺
06:53 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> * now stands in the stairwell,
07:02 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, little bug fix this morning
07:03 AM rdtsc-wk: meister, those rectangular connectors are Harting HAN type - can find mating connectors from the Harting catalog.
07:03 AM bjorkintosh: ah yes. you need some sort of lifting and moving device
07:06 AM rdtsc-wk: stairs - maybe a dolly or sled
07:07 AM rdtsc-wk: or a really strong friend (unsure if "dolly" and "sled" are the same terms in your geographical locale)
07:16 AM rdtsc-wk: (hope this isn't the last we hear of meister)
07:16 AM JT-Cave: https://youtu.be/EtA0-WWFhZk
07:19 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> it is now in my flat
07:20 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> never buy a robot without legs 😂
07:23 AM rdtsc-wk: with your skills meister, we next expect to see a robotic exoskeleton (a.k.a. "Alien" / Sigourney Weaver)
07:24 AM rdtsc-wk: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=alien+sigourney+weaver+exoskeleton&t=opera&iax=images&ia=images
07:24 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> 🤣
07:26 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> i will be the next main actor of transformers 😎
07:44 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn> Are two robots assembled into one?
07:56 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, PR #106
08:00 AM JT-Cave: thanks
08:00 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://multixmedia.org/robot/
08:01 AM JT-Cave: working on extensions in the ini file
08:01 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://multixmedia.org/robot/IMG_20240930_144912.jpg
08:07 AM * JT-Cave starts his chicken day
08:07 AM Tom_L: bbl
08:11 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> the good thing it's a small motor
08:12 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> so this should be cheaper 😄
08:13 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> hahaaa
08:14 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> ebay, new: 390Euro, used: 22Euro for one servo
08:14 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> 22 or 220?
08:14 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> 220, sorry
08:14 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> for the motor or the driver?
08:15 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> but for such a small motor maybe make your own driver is feasible ? you seem to have some knowledge (I don't have them )
08:15 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> the good thing, i can sell the motors and have lost no money
08:16 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> i never used ac-servos, don't know
08:17 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> it's very small indead
08:17 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> maybe you can suit some stepper
08:21 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> I've already thought about it, in case the servos and encoders don't work.
08:22 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn> Changing to ethercat servo can reduce a lot of cables
08:23 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> but these are standard components, in the end it's just a question of cost
08:23 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn> The key is that a 50-watt ethercat servo is hard to find.
08:23 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> and ethercat can reduce a lot of my money
08:23 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn> 🤣
08:25 AM lcnc-relay: <onceloved.cn> Ethercat stepper motors can also be considered
08:31 AM rdtsc-wk: meister, https://www.yaskawa.com/products/motion/sigma-5-servo-products some manufacturers make multi-axis drives - see if Yaskawa has one of these, then look for used on Ebay
08:35 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> I have a yaskawa VFD, a real dream
08:35 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> if only i could afford there products
08:36 AM rdtsc-wk: maybe it was Mitsubishi I was thinking of that has these in multi-axis variants; doesn't look like Yaskawa offers them
08:37 AM bjorkintosh: don't you need a motor for each axis?
08:37 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> it won't be a problem to get the parts running, but i don't want to spend 1000-2000 euros on drivers
08:38 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> 1 motor and 1 driver each of the 6 axis
08:39 AM rdtsc-wk: Think those motors are >1M ppr
08:39 AM rdtsc-wk: highly, highly accurate
08:40 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> the really cool thing about the robot is the harmonic drives 😍
08:41 AM bjorkintosh: what are you going to do with it?
08:44 AM rdtsc-wk: I've seen others reverse the encoder protocol - think STMBL can use some proprietary encoder https://github.com/freakontrol/stmbl
08:45 AM rdtsc-wk: doubt it's a yaskawa encoder though
08:45 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> playing arount 🙂
08:46 AM rdtsc-wk: would probably have to get ahold of a yaskawa drive at least temporarily to start decoding the (proprietary) protocol...
08:47 AM * rdtsc-wk senses this rabbit hole is very deep and very dark
08:49 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> yes, there are still a lot of construction sites, but i'm reassured for now that i haven't made any losses with it
08:49 AM bjorkintosh: <meisterdippel> playing arount 🙂 <--- that's fantastic.
08:49 AM rdtsc-wk: Oh crud, does this mean we're going to have to adapt FlexGUI for robots? ;)
08:50 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> no, rather rather stupid, but i will have fun with it
08:52 AM bjorkintosh: what's wrong with playing around?
08:53 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> is it possible that the brake in the motors is applied as long as there is no current?
08:53 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> ask my bank account
08:53 AM bjorkintosh: hahaha. mine returns an echo.
08:55 AM rdtsc-wk: yes they likely have 24V brakes
08:55 AM rdtsc-wk: depends on the motor model number though - get the manual for them
08:56 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> thanks
09:01 AM rdtsc-wk: At least you get an echo bjorkintosh... I just get a 404
09:01 AM bjorkintosh: hahahaha
09:01 AM bjorkintosh: look under your mattress.
09:02 AM rdtsc-wk: lets see... some pillows, a winter blanket, some dust bunnies... nope nothing good
09:11 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> the only datasheet i found: https://www.elecok.com/jp/data_sheet/268878/Sgmah-a5a2a-yr11__Yaskawa_Servo_Motor(JP).pdf
09:11 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> 😭
09:20 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> you have harmonic on each axis?
09:20 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> if yes, not sure a very high resolution is needed
09:21 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://download.epson-europe.com/robotics/Manuals/Manipulator/e_PS3L_PS3LP_r4.pdf - page 256 - schematics 🙂
09:21 AM rdtsc-wk: https://www.yaskawa.com/products/motion/sigma-5-servo-products/rotary-servo-motors/sgmah-sigma-ii
09:21 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> yes
09:22 AM rdtsc-wk: documents there
09:23 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> i hope you'll be able to keep motors
09:23 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> cool, thanks
09:23 AM rdtsc-wk: I'd recommend it if possible - already fit and have excellent encoders
09:47 AM rdtsc-wk: if harmonic drive is 100:1, that 6kRPM, 50W motor outputs 60RPM @5kW equivalent power :)
09:58 AM lcnc-relay: <zincboy_ca_on> Power is the same. Torque is 100x higher less the efficiency percentage.
10:15 AM rdtsc-wk: oops that's what I meant.
11:05 AM roycroft: we had our first frost last night
11:05 AM roycroft: that seems rather early, but maybe it's normal here
11:06 AM roycroft: it was light - just on the rooftops and cars, not on the ground - but still surprising
11:08 AM JT-Cave: the forecast for our trip to Eureka Springs is looking real good... sunny 50ish to 80ish
11:08 AM JT-Cave: I tried moving my usb microphone to another debian pc but it does not have something it needs to work
11:12 AM roycroft: it's going to get warm here today
11:21 AM Tom_L: hi 88F here
11:29 AM roycroft: i got primer on my shed (and the side of the shop where it's attached) yesterday
11:29 AM roycroft: i'm hoping to paint it today after work, but that will depend on how cold it's going to get tonight and how quickly
11:30 AM rdtsc-wk: JT, perhaps mic needs alsa or pipewire - unsure what Debian uses
11:31 AM roycroft: hmm, the record low here for yesterday is 0, so we tied that
11:31 AM roycroft: i guess it's not normal to get that cold so soon
11:32 AM roycroft: the low tonight is supposed to be 11, so i should be able to paint
11:33 AM rdtsc-wk: JT, https://wiki.debian.org/Sound
11:33 AM JT-Cave: pipewire is installed but I decided to move the microphone back to this pc
11:35 AM rdtsc-wk: roycroft, if you have a halogen lamp, point it at the drying paint overnight - a little extra heat will make it dry much faster in cool climate
11:38 AM rdtsc-wk: something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwire-500-Watt-Portable-Halogen-Work-Light-L20/205482818
11:39 AM Tom_L: yeah, keep the neighbors up all night
11:58 AM JT-Cave: nap time here\
12:21 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> nice weekly forecast here.....
12:21 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/TlbwbJPcIYOHivAPlbvLTBoy/image.png
03:00 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> finally found a signal my VFD outputs when the spindle is running and when the brake is active. this is a game changer for y tool change routine, as i no longer need a static dwell to wait for the spindle to stop, but can use a "M66 P26 L4 Q10"
03:00 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> 🙂
03:18 PM rdtsc-wk: nice find! :)
03:19 PM JT-Shop: travis sounds like you're getting the vfd sorted out
03:21 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> yes, i am very excited with this find 🙂
03:21 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: nice youtubes on flex
03:21 PM JT-Shop: rouguish thanks
03:21 PM JT-Shop: just starting on a series of videos starting with installing flex and designer
03:22 PM JT-Shop: so a step by step for each feature
03:23 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> my area forecast keeps chnging. now it's 101 today, 108 tomorrow, 109 wed, 104 thurs
03:24 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: did that last hurricane get to you at all ???
03:24 PM JT-Shop: we have awesome temps for the next week and clear sky's for the Corvette Weekend in Eureka Springs
03:24 PM JT-Shop: we got 24h of light to medium rain with a total of 1 1/2"
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> that's not too bad. a friend in NC had a tree fall on her house....
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> she's ok.
03:25 PM JT-Shop: yeah the coast got hit hard, my sister got 9" of rain
03:26 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> another friend near Orlando was barely affected
03:26 PM JT-Shop: she's in Georgia
03:27 PM rdtsc-wk: 9"... imagine if that was snow...
03:29 PM rdtsc-wk: 7.5ft (2.3m)
03:29 PM JT-Shop: we got a foot of snow one winter here
03:29 PM JT-Shop: holy carp
03:31 PM rdtsc-wk: we used to get snow here in the 70's and 80's... remember hiking through feet of snow every day. Nowadays, we got a few inches last year.
03:31 PM rdtsc-wk: I mean 1970 and 1980
03:31 PM JT-Shop: lol
03:32 PM * rdtsc-wk needs to work on his clarity, sheesh
03:32 PM JT-Shop: english is a very hard language to get a point across
03:35 PM rdtsc-wk: There's there, their, they're and they are... for starters :)
03:35 PM JT-Shop: yup
03:37 PM rdtsc-wk: Stumbled upon Shavian recently... it will never be adopted, but is an interesting idea: spell English not using Roman characters. https://shavian.info
03:38 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i created my own alphabet a while ago 🙂 never made a font for it though...
03:39 PM Rab: Why would you use English with this instead of Esperanto? ;)
03:43 PM rdtsc-wk: The fascinating thing about Shavian is it is a collection of english sound elements, not Roman characters. People who have a hard time spelling in English would find Shavian easy (if they had learned it as a child.)
03:43 PM rdtsc-wk: But nobody is going to learn it, so it's kinda moot.
03:48 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> JT: what about adding a feature to retain HAL checkboxes checked status? or, make it so if it is set checked by default, that during startup it sets the hal pin true.
03:48 PM lcnc-relay: it has been my experience that if in the UI it is checked by default, that the check box needs to be unchecked at run-time and rechecked in order to set the hal pin state to true.
03:48 PM lcnc-relay: or was this solved already and i am just behind the times? 😉
03:48 PM JT-Shop: well it's solved for a spin box
03:49 PM JT-Shop: it would be easy to set the hal status at startup if it's checked in designer
03:49 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> ok, that would work
03:51 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> it is just i have some hal pin "settings" for various things, and having one checked by default would save me a step 🙂
03:51 PM JT-Shop: makes sense
03:53 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> other than that, i am happy with Flex... so far. about dialog fails to show up though, i checked that. perhaps because the image isn't there to load. but i felt better changing the text of the about anyway 😉
03:54 PM JT-Shop: looks like a couple of lines of code can set a checkbox hal on startup
03:54 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> perfect 🙂
03:57 PM Tom_L: set the startup dialog in designer
04:02 PM Tom_L: trying to get caught up here so i can work on the alternate angle subroutines
04:06 PM JT-Shop: cool
04:06 PM Tom_L: likely not today
04:06 PM JT-Shop: I finished up a chicken feeder for the 2 hens and now I'm just coasting
04:06 PM Tom_L: how far over do you think is reasonable for the base side from one touch point to the next?
04:07 PM Tom_L: i was going .500" and found i wasn't backing out enough
04:07 PM JT-Shop: you might have an approximate angle setting...
04:08 PM Tom_L: the first method, it doesn't matter unless it's a very small angle
04:08 PM Tom_L: then you just need to increase the probe search distance
04:51 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> I heard from Tomp, he is still kicking, but lost much of his eyesight and he still writes code
04:52 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> tjtr33 was his old nick
04:54 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> anyone hear from Archivist in the past year or two?
04:54 PM Tom_L: not i
04:55 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: JT-Shop just installed the 1.0 deb
04:55 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> looking at the examples now
04:55 PM Tom_L: cool
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> Tom_L: i see you added widths, you call 'distance' and angles
05:01 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> and put in some 'set position' buttons. good
05:01 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> looking at touch-probe2
05:08 PM Tom_L: roguish for now if you have settings you like, edit the QDoubleSpinbox for the default value or it will revert to the current settings you see
05:08 PM Tom_L: talking about storing the selected values somehow
05:09 PM Tom_L: and on the distance make sure it's long enough for what you're measuring
05:10 PM Tom_L: iirc the value is for each direction <3----3> .. check that
05:16 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> hey, in qtdesigner, in the right column, object inspector, the 2nd line is the 'central widget' what does the red crossout in the icon mean ?
05:17 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/wBjzGAlUzEZmABGCZbXPdwTC/image.png
05:18 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> when i look at other ui's, like qtdragon, there is no red crossout
05:26 PM JT-Shop: image not found
05:27 PM JT-Shop: roguish the central widget is a required item for a qmainwindow
05:28 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: i know. i've messed with designer a bit.
05:32 PM JT-Shop: I don't see a red cross on the central widget here...
05:35 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> I thought it might mean not changable, but I just changed all permissions to read/write everything.
05:35 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> that wasn't it.
05:36 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> what's the current 'paste bin' place?
05:36 PM JT-Shop: https://paste.debian.net/
05:36 PM JT-Shop: https://pasteboard.co/ for images
05:37 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> thaks
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> https://pasteboard.co/TvKjZwKamNfE.png
05:39 PM JT-Shop: no clue, I don't see that here
05:41 PM Tom_L: mine is like that as well
05:42 PM JT-Shop: I do see some in some configs
05:43 PM Tom_L: maybe it isn't editable because it has children
05:43 PM JT-Shop: but no clue what it means... maybe it can't be deleted for some reason
05:43 PM Tom_L: dunno
05:43 PM JT-Shop: could be dunno
05:44 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
05:44 PM Tom_L: any 'root' one with nothing below isn't marked
05:48 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> I think it's
05:49 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> undeleteable. just tried to delete a few. does not delete. then deleted a few without the red crossout, and they deleted.
05:49 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> in the flex examples, and in qtdragon.ui
05:49 PM Tom_L: i bet it's because they have 'children'
05:49 PM Tom_L: delete the children then i bet you can
05:51 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> yep
05:53 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> aw man.. think of the children 😉
06:33 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, i think i figured out the 2nd angle method
06:38 PM Tom_L: checked between ~3deg - ~80
06:39 PM Tom_L: anything more/less than that maybe you should be probing a different side :)
07:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Lol.. at work I installed ollama as we want to experiment with it.. it took less time to install a llm than it did to successfully update the computers bios...
07:21 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> yeah BIOS updates have been made far too complicated, but your computer needs to be safe from you
07:29 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> (I think it ended up being the USB drive issue)
08:00 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
08:04 PM rdtsc: Have an Intel 13th-gen... all-too-familiar with BIOS updates
08:10 PM Tom_L: updating angle subs
08:11 PM rdtsc: cd
08:20 PM rdtsc: Tom, for probe_z_start does that mean "Z start location over sensor" or "over work"? Testing tool tips
08:25 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> That is what this was.. 13th gen had the system for a while.. first time it has been booted in about a year
08:27 PM Tom_L: ok the base side is adjustable now depending how much room you have to measure the angle
08:27 PM Tom_L: just need to metricify
08:39 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, thank god its being metric a fi-e..d...
08:39 PM _unreal_: I had a guy all but go.... no he went cross eye'ed over metric measurments
08:40 PM _unreal_: I was like REALLY!!! you dumb.....ffffabuluse person
08:41 PM Tom_L: i have both now
08:41 PM Tom_L: test them on hardware tomorrow
08:41 PM Tom_L: sim looks good
08:42 PM Tom_L: and of course they're flex able
09:08 PM rdtsc: Tom, discovered that in Designer, an object's toolTip only displays on mouse-over, not on touch
09:11 PM Tom_L: i haven't messed with that yet
09:12 PM Tom_L: that makes sense though
09:13 PM rdtsc: well you can drag the mouse cursor on a touchscreen, but whether you drag over where a toolTip should be and hold, or let go, it won't display. Bummer.
09:14 PM Tom_L: where do you set the text?
09:14 PM Tom_L: jt said in the qss file..
09:15 PM Tom_L: but i don't know what the setting is called
09:15 PM rdtsc: I tried it in Designer, like on QLabel for "SEARCH FEED" - set its toolTip to "Initial search feedrate". Works if I hover a mouse over it just fine. But no joy with touchscreen.
09:17 PM rdtsc: suppose I could share the file and you could try it
09:18 PM Tom_L: yes you set it in the qss file
09:18 PM Tom_L: i got it already
09:18 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
09:18 PM Tom_dev: QDoubleSpinBox#probe_angle_base_dist{
09:18 PM Tom_dev: toolTip: 'This is to increase or decrease the base side'
09:18 PM Tom_dev: }
09:19 PM Tom_L: that spin box isn't in your version yet
09:19 PM rdtsc: cool, another way to add them
09:19 PM Tom_L: how did you do it?
09:20 PM rdtsc: Designer --> widget's toolTip line, just type it in.
09:20 PM Tom_dev: i tried that
09:20 PM Tom_dev: maybe i didn't wait long enough
09:21 PM rdtsc: hmm, rendered .ui works with mouse here - takes like 1s to appear
09:21 PM Tom_dev: kinda sluggish i think
09:23 PM rdtsc: seems fine. tried to screencap the Rpi showing a tooltip, but pressing printscr causes it to disappear heheh
09:23 PM Tom_dev: use a timed screen capture
09:24 PM Tom_dev: one kludge is they tied it to the hover

09:27 PM rdtsc: https://pasteboard.co/ggcSrwEsjzO7.png
09:29 PM Tom_L: yeah either one works, i was just impatient to see it
09:30 PM rdtsc: makes more sense to go the .qss route, easier
09:30 PM Tom_L: if you set it in the qss file, it will work for inch and metric screens though
09:30 PM rdtsc: crud, does that mean inch and metric .qss?
09:31 PM rdtsc: lol
09:31 PM Tom_L: no
09:31 PM Tom_L: i use the same on both
09:33 PM rdtsc: thank gosh. ok spent here, wrapping the night up.
