04:55 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> Hello
05:33 AM Deejay: hi
06:57 AM rdtsc2: Mornin'. So Tom, having issues with qtdragon (updates?) on Rpi. Got an Axis version to run last night. Need a little more time to give flex another try.
09:51 AM bjorkint0sh: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wS2ym5IwKmw
09:52 AM bjorkint0sh: it seems people don't realize that chinese industries tend to be heavily subsidized by their government specifically to undercut everyone else.
09:55 AM roycroft: i think people who pay attention to the world know that
10:09 AM mrec: question would you like to stand up in the morning and make parts and deliver 50% of the profit(!) to the government?
10:10 AM mrec: the only thing that can safe Germany is automatisation, but developing countries are getting there too
10:14 AM mrec: prices in Austria doubled during the last few years, that's not sustainable
10:20 AM roycroft: oregon has the largest wildfire in the nation now
10:20 AM roycroft: but it's nowhere near me - it's on the idaho border
11:43 AM Tom_L: mrec, no, i'd rather have a government contract that pays well
11:44 AM Tom_L: btw, did you see that forum link?
11:46 AM mrec: Tom_L: yes thanks, I put it into my notes so far I'm studying the hostmot hdl description to add my own submodule
11:47 AM mrec: the PC side is pretty clear, I have updated the C code already; now I'm working on the HDL part
11:51 AM mrec: Tom_L: do you have an ethernet based mesa device? I never used it much since the parallel port was sufficient for my small mill; but the large one needs the customised mesa board
11:51 AM Tom_L: yup
11:51 AM Tom_L: 3 i think
11:51 AM mrec: a ping of 85 - 100us should be okay no?
11:51 AM Tom_L: ask pcw
11:52 AM Tom_L: i dunno
11:52 AM Tom_L: i don't have one hooked up atm
11:54 AM Tom_L: how many IO do you think you need for the large mill?
11:54 AM Tom_L: the 7i80 has 72 + you can do sserial off it
11:56 AM mrec: the IOs are no problem (I could add an extension) but I need to implement the Mitsubishi MDS-B-SVJ2 protocol
11:58 AM mrec: I have to add an extension anyway for the differential transceiver.

01:34 PM * JT-Cave goes to do a little work... very little
03:15 PM JT-Cave: Tom_L, https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/misc.html#file-selector
03:16 PM roycroft: so the chico fire was intentionally set, and the suspected arson has been arrested
03:17 PM roycroft: he allegedly started a car on fire and then pushed it off a cliff
03:18 PM * roycroft imagines there will be homicide investigators involved as well as the arson investigators
03:19 PM xxcoder: wow
03:19 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, cool
03:19 PM Unterhaus_ is now known as unterhausen
03:32 PM Gardenweazel: Gents, take a look at this 3d Probe. Based on this image, I should not need a 2k 1/2watt resistor. Or should I add one for safety?  https://drive.google.com/file/d/12dH2yjjnLj0kW4WbamaNqTHx8ETdxb_B/view?usp=drive_link
03:32 PM Gardenweazel: It  appears to already have a 10k inline
03:40 PM rdtsc2: Think I have that probe at home; can measure the resistance later. 10k is fine for all but NASA. If using a Mesa card, may have to invert the HAL input to xxxx-NOT as it will be normally high.
03:41 PM pcw-home: Gardenweazel: what input does the probe drive?
03:41 PM Gardenweazel: 24vdc on an input to 7i76e
03:42 PM pcw-home: In that case, add the 2K resistor in parallel with the built-in 10K resistor.
03:44 PM pcw-home: The 7I76E has a ~10K input resistance so a 10K pullup will just drive the input to about 12V, which is marginal.
03:47 PM Gardenweazel: So tie it between the 24vdc and the the IO output which is essentially the same voltage?
03:47 PM Connor: When do I need to add flyback diode on a relay for older 7i76e @pcw-home?
03:48 PM pcw-home: I would always add a flyback for EMI reasons unless you need high operation rates
03:49 PM Connor: For some reason, I thought the 7i76e already had them..
03:49 PM pcw-home: Gardenweazel: yes in parallel with the 10K
03:49 PM Gardenweazel: Thanks Man!
03:51 PM pcw-home: The 7I76E drivers have protection but it dissipates the inductive energy in the output MOSFETs so the amount of energy is limited, so only low current relays are suggested
03:52 PM pcw-home: The 7I76EU has built in clamp diodes
03:52 PM Connor: Yea. that was the question. What's low current. I'm going to add a diode anyway at the coil.. just good practice.. I was just wondering. I think this thing is may .030amps or something.. really low.
03:53 PM JT-Shop: how's the 7i76EU coming along?
03:57 PM pcw-home: Still firmware issues with the I/O section but closer (all I/O working but non-volatile parameters need work as does remote update)
03:58 PM pcw-home: remote update is really important on this first rev using a new I/O CPU
03:59 PM JT-Shop: sounds like it will be a much better board when done
03:59 PM Connor: Kinda sucks your having to re-dev your boards because of change up in the FPGA chips.
04:00 PM Leeloo_ is now known as Leeloo
04:24 PM mrec: is the 7i76 eu also trion based?
04:24 PM mrec: efinix
04:30 PM * roycroft no longer has his 7i76
04:33 PM Tom_L: how will remote update work?
04:39 PM Gardenweazel: pcw-home Worked like a charm with the resistor in parallel! Thanks again.

06:07 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, what do you think of the file selector now?
06:08 PM Tom_L: i haven't run it yet
06:08 PM JT-Shop: ok
06:08 PM Tom_L: can you pick the file extension or is it hardcoded to .ngc?
06:08 PM JT-Shop: in the ini you can add more extensions
06:09 PM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/ini.html
06:09 PM Tom_L: i would mention that in the widget doc as well
06:10 PM JT-Shop: which one?
06:10 PM Tom_L: and fix the typo
06:10 PM Tom_L: for the EXTENSIONS
06:10 PM JT-Shop: oh the ile selector...
06:11 PM Tom_L: :)
06:11 PM JT-Shop: well you can pick an ile as well
06:11 PM Tom_L: the ... must be folders
06:11 PM JT-Shop: nope they are subdirectories LOL
06:14 PM JT-Shop: finally painting the lift thingy
06:15 PM JT-Shop: I'll be so glad to be done with that
06:15 PM Tom_L: PR #48 up
06:15 PM JT-Shop: thanks
06:15 PM Tom_L: heater shelf done?
06:16 PM JT-Shop: yup
06:16 PM JT-Shop: if the house falls down the shelf will hold it up
06:28 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
