01:53 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> Hello
04:23 AM Tom_L: morning
04:45 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:47 AM JT-Cave: so I have two plugins that now say Connect your store to woocommerce.com to update.
05:47 AM JT-Cave: ain't gonna happen
05:50 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> morning
05:52 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> hello JT-Cave :=) do you use JT account?
05:59 AM JT-Cave: JT account?
05:59 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> sorry "@jt-m:matrix.org"
05:59 AM JT-Cave: yes
05:59 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> oh ok cool
05:59 AM JT-Cave: from my phone only
06:00 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> you are mod in #qtpyvcp ð
06:00 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> i was unsure if you still using it
06:03 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> I did a thing ðē
06:03 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/UcURmwggtwXEuKSkIsAwRKye/image.png
06:04 AM lcnc-relay: <TurBoss> ð
06:31 AM * JT-Cave has to take the C8 to the body shop to get the mirror repaired and the Insight to get the 40k service and none are in this town lol
07:31 AM Guest72: o/
07:31 AM Guest72: hy theree, need some help with some linuxcnc problems
07:42 AM JT-Cave: just ask your question(s)
08:22 AM Guest72: im trying to get a touch probe and tool height setter configured in linuxcnc using 2.9.2 had the toolsetter set up with m6 remap which is fine, now im trying to add easy probe to axis and im getting errors about pin being used,
08:23 AM Guest72: net probe-input motion.probe-input <= parport.0.pin-15-in ,this is the line for the input from the hal file
08:26 AM Guest72: https://github.com/hausen8/EasyProbe is what im trying to install but its very confusing
08:31 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> what is the actual error?
08:32 AM Guest72: saying that input is already connected to probe input i dont understand
08:35 AM Guest72: as i understand all probes need to be connected to 1 input,
08:41 AM Guest72: mark1
08:41 AM Guest72: oops
08:57 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> hi mark.. ð
08:57 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Really - we need to see the actual error and probably your hal files..
08:57 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> you probably have 2 signals each with the same pin
08:58 AM rigid: turns out that those cheap 1um quadrature encoded glass slide rulers from china really work accuratly ... awesome!
08:59 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> link?
09:00 AM rigid: to the slide ruler?
09:00 AM rigid: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B098RCR8JM
09:00 AM * rigid ordererd 5um and got 1um
09:01 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> neat!
09:03 AM rigid: ha, now it even says "1Ξm" on the product page. Was 5um when I ordered.
09:04 AM Guest72: where can i post my config files
09:16 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> https://paste.debian.net/
09:17 AM roycroft: hello, folks
09:17 AM roycroft: today is my first day back at work
09:20 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> from home? or do you 'go to work'?
09:21 AM roycroft: i work from home
09:28 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Nice! get your network setup?
09:32 AM roycroft: mostly
09:33 AM roycroft: my phone switch is not connecting to the sip providers, and a hard-wired site to site vpn is not working, but other than that things are fine
09:33 AM roycroft: also, trying to cancel my comcastic internet service at the old house is proving challenging
09:34 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Yeck..
09:39 AM roycroft: yeah
09:39 AM roycroft: their phone numbers are broken
09:39 AM roycroft: their online chat system says it's too busy to deal with me
09:40 AM roycroft: i finally found a way to request a call back to me, but the call has not happened
09:48 AM Unterhaus__ is now known as unterhausen
09:48 AM unterhausen: If I had a comcast problem, I might try the xfinity sub on reddit. The fired all their customer service and went to a bad automated system otherwise
09:51 AM roycroft: what sucks is that i have a ~$600 credit balance with them
09:51 AM roycroft: so i can't just stop paying them
09:51 AM roycroft: they need to send me a check
10:13 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> I don't deal with Comcast on the phone. gotta go to the local office and speak to a real humanoid....
10:14 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> Glad I don't have comcast
10:22 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> Too bad he left before anyone could answer his question
10:24 AM roycroft: what local office?
10:27 AM roycroft: i finally got ahold of someone, and allegedly things are being taken care of
10:27 AM roycroft: they do not issue refund checks any more, but i'll get a pre-paid visa/debit card for the amount they owe me
10:27 AM roycroft: that's suboptimal, but i'll make it work
10:29 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> It's better than nothing
10:30 AM roycroft: yes, that's what i'm thinking
10:31 AM roycroft: i only "lose" 2% this way, as i'll use the pre-paid card to pay bills that i normally pay with a credit card that gives me 2% cashback
10:31 AM roycroft: i can live with that
10:31 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> You can't cash it out?
10:33 AM roycroft: no
10:33 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> Well that sucks
10:33 AM Rab_: Can you buy gift cards?
10:48 AM lcnc-relay: <JT> Maybe use an ATM to get cash
10:57 AM roycroft: those cards usually have a fee for cash withdrawls
10:58 AM roycroft: the whole point of those cards (we sold pre-paid phone cards when i worked for the telco) is to make them inconvenient to use, so that folks don't use them
10:58 AM roycroft: at which point they are free money
10:58 AM roycroft: for the issuer
10:59 AM roycroft: when i was at the telco we issued 10s of thousands of dollars worth of pre-paid phone cards per month, and maybe 20% of the calling time was ever used
10:59 AM roycroft: that 20% was profitable, since they were using our service at retail rates, but the other 80% was pure profit
11:01 AM Rab_: It used to be that many types of pre-paid gift and phone cards were subject to a recurring "service fee" which would whittle them down to nothing even if you didn't use them. I don't think this masterstoke of pure wickedness is legal any more, or at least the industry has gone a different direction.
11:02 AM Rab_: *stroke
11:03 AM roycroft: yes, that's part of the plan as well
11:03 AM roycroft: which is why i'll use this one as quickly as possible
11:54 AM Loetmichel: Well, i just put 52 liters petrol into the car. Into a 50 liter tank. At some time i will run out of fuel again on the highway if i dont learn to refuel a bit earlier. :)
11:55 AM roycroft: no you won't
11:55 AM roycroft: you'll still have 2 liters
11:56 AM Loetmichel: hmm?
11:57 AM roycroft: your tank holds 50l
11:57 AM roycroft: you have 52l of fuel
11:57 AM roycroft: when the tank is empty you'll have 2l to spare :)
11:59 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> kinda odd logic, but he is correct ð
12:01 PM Loetmichel: math. Not only once!
12:02 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> What if the pump only pumped 48 L and told you 52L
12:04 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> more likely the case, JT... seen that with cans of gas. fill a 5G can with 8G and it makes you untrust the pumps...
12:04 PM CaptHindsight: keep a Liter of fuel in the center console for emergencies :p
12:05 PM roycroft: one thing about living out of town has taught me already is to refuel well before the tank is empty
12:06 PM roycroft: fuel costs about 15-20% more here than in town, so it makes a lot of sense to fill up in town, which means i always need enough fuel to drive around until the next time i go to town, as well as enough to get there
12:07 PM roycroft: i don't run out, especially with diesel engines (it's really bad to run a diesel dry), but my habit has been to refuel when the low fuel indicator comes on
12:07 PM roycroft: the new habit i'm developing is to refuel when i have about 100 miles of range left
12:07 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: i have a 5 liter jerry can... In the garage at the moment because it leaks.
12:10 PM Tom_L: wonder how much trouble i'll have moving a win ssd from one mb to another
12:11 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> When I fill up the Ridgeline I fill up to 4 5 gallon cans because I get $0.50 > $1 a gallon off once a month
12:12 PM Tom_L: i get a free 20 gal every so often with my my points card
12:14 PM Tom_L: usually end up giving it to one of the boys
12:21 PM CaptHindsight: I lost the .8 to 0 range on my Landcruiser last year. I just randomly fill up now. It's likely due to a rust spot on the rheostat in the tank.
12:22 PM CaptHindsight: it's only 30 years old with ~400k miles, so just breaking in
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> My Ferguson is a 1956
12:23 PM CaptHindsight: I guess it's also time for new O2 sensors
12:23 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> 68 years old
12:24 PM CaptHindsight: I was going to convert it to RusEFI and use wideband O2 sensors
12:32 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: what version of windows?
12:32 PM Tom_L: 7
12:33 PM Tom_L: i was gonna swap some stuff around so i can end up with a decent MB to test flex on the mill
12:33 PM Tom_L: either i get another box or just swap ssd around so i have a box the test mb will fit in
12:34 PM Tom_L: i forget what's in the mill pc but it was running wheezy...
12:35 PM Tom_L: and that particular win sd isn't that critical
12:35 PM Tom_L: ssd
12:38 PM skunkworks: it might be hit or miss.. 10 and on does a much better job being protable
12:38 PM skunkworks: portable
12:39 PM skunkworks: I would make an image of the original on a new drive to test
12:39 PM Tom_L: it usually makes me grab a new license online
12:39 PM Tom_L: i've done it before
12:39 PM Tom_L: i just don't want to end up with 2 big messes
12:50 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> JT heads to the barn
01:24 PM XXCoder: 2 guys go to a bar. it's boring place to go to. one guy says to other "I think you misunderstood boring bar as a gift"
01:27 PM * roycroft does the drum roll
01:28 PM roycroft: now i have two displays for my imac working
01:28 PM roycroft: which is not as good as three, but it's about 500% better than one
01:28 PM XXCoder: ðĨ
01:28 PM XXCoder: nice. I must have two lol
01:37 PM roycroft: i'm gonna go for it and get the third display working
01:38 PM roycroft: i only have a half hour of work left before i go to town for my doctors' appointments
01:38 PM roycroft: just enough time for that
01:58 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
02:47 PM rigid: wtf does linuxcnc rely on a correctly set clock and thus NTP?
02:47 PM rigid: i mean... wtf?
02:50 PM rigid: there's this guy on the mailinglist who operates linuxcnc in a hospital. Worth mentioning, no networking linuxcnc should EVER be connected to any critical network. Not even with careful firewalling. Just don't.
02:57 PM Guest72: HI, i asked a question earlier about setting up a touch probe and toolsetter can any body help, i was asked to link my files but how do i do it on here?
03:00 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:06 PM Tom_L: Guest72, paste.debian.net
03:09 PM Guest72: sorry dont understand tom, im in a browser on windows
03:10 PM Tom_L: copy ahd past your files there then create a link to it
03:10 PM Guest72: ok ty
03:16 PM Guest72: tried that but can only do on file at a tim and not a .rar file, i posted a topic on th forum, thee last post has all my files for my machine https://forum.linuxcnc.org/21-axis/48991-probe-panel-for-axis-gui?start=20
03:16 PM Guest72: sorry e key us fubaard
03:18 PM rigid: Guest72: either do one paste per file or open each file in a text editor and ctrl+a, ctrl+c and then click at the end of your paste and ctrl+v to append all files into one paste
03:25 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> had a bite on somebody wanting to buy my truck... just a tire-kicker... first question out of their mouth, having not seen the truck, "Bottom dollar?"
03:27 PM Guest72: http://paste.debian.net/1319032 hal file
03:27 PM Rab_: Guest72, there might be some corruption in your archive: http://paste.debian.net/1319031/
03:28 PM Rab_: Sorry, wrong link: http://paste.debian.net/1319034/
03:28 PM Guest72: http://paste.debian.net/1319033 .ini file
03:30 PM Guest72: http://paste.debian.net/1319033 xml
03:30 PM Rab_: Oops, never mind. I was using the wrong flag to extract with full path.
03:34 PM Guest53: sorry got disconncted
03:34 PM Guest53: i was guest 72, tried downloading quasser and setting it up for this but ended up deleting it
03:56 PM JT-Shop: Guest53, for two inputs you need to use a or2 hal component to connect the two inputs to motion probe input
03:59 PM Guest53: the probes are wired NC, the tool setter is NC and the touch probe is NO but it has a physical relay wired before the toolsetter to make the touch probe NC until triggeeered so i can leave both connected permanently and use th same input for both as i have no more inputs on my BOB, and i thought probes weeree mant to be put on the sam input but not
03:59 PM Guest53: used at the same timee?
04:04 PM JT-Shop: you have to connect the inputs to a or2 then use the out pin from or2 to motion probe input
04:05 PM Guest53: but im only using 1 unput for both toolsetter and touch probe, i dont understand, its ionly 1 input
04:06 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/man/man9/or2.9.html
04:06 PM JT-Shop: what is the error?
04:07 PM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc-old/hal/or2.html
04:08 PM JT-Shop: motion.probe-input IN BIT only one signal in hal can be connected to this so use or2 to connect two inputs
04:11 PM Guest53: im not getting any errors just the pyvcp panel for the touch probe isnt working after trying to set up https://github.com/hausen8/EasyProbe, the tool height setter was already set up with an m6 remap thats working fine, and i had a pyvcp panel for my spindle also,
04:13 PM Guest53: ok thee motion.probe-input i thought meant motion=touch probe and probe =toolsetter, both on same input
04:14 PM Guest53: so how do i or2 1 physical input. is it possible?
04:16 PM JT-Shop: if touch probe and the toolsetter are both wired to the same input then it's not a HAL problem
04:17 PM JT-Shop: so how is the pyvcp panel not working?
04:20 PM Guest53: the led doesnt change and none of the buttons work, the tutorial was hard to follow bcause i already had a pyvcp panel for the spindle that wasnt a tab, now the easy probe and spindle panels are in seperate tabs but the probee tab isnt working at all, it took m 3 days just to get thee tabs to appear properly lol./o\
04:21 PM Guest53: i posted on the topic on the lcnc forum that has all my fils on the last post
04:21 PM Guest53: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/21-axis/48991-probe-panel-for-axis-gui?start=20
04:22 PM Guest53: sorry my ee key either doeesnt work or does 2 or 3 when i press it
04:26 PM JT-Shop: I can't open a .rar file, can you use paste.debian.org and post the pyvcp file?
04:26 PM Guest53: yh 1 sec
04:27 PM JT-Shop: brb time to spoil the chickens
04:27 PM Guest53: lol
04:28 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319039
04:31 PM Guest53: thats the xml for the panels
04:32 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319041 ini fil
04:32 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319042 hal fil
04:33 PM JT-Cave: do you have a postgui hal file?
04:33 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319043 probe post gui
04:34 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319044 normal post gui
04:36 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319044 probe preload
04:36 PM Guest53: hal
04:37 PM Guest53: https://paste.debian.net/1319047 vfd. hal
04:38 PM Guest53: all thats left are emty fils with various names and the macros folder
04:40 PM JT-Cave: you have two [HAL] sections! you can only have one...
04:40 PM Guest53: i know but i dont know what order to put those entries in the first hal section
04:41 PM Guest53: if i didnt put th second hal headr i got loading rrors
04:44 PM Tom_L: one is likely being ignored
04:44 PM Guest53: TWOPASS = on
04:44 PM Guest53: HALFILE = Probe_preload.hal
04:44 PM Guest53: POSTGUI_HALFILE = Probe_postgui.hal
04:45 PM Guest53: thats what th tutorial said to add but again i got rrorsloading whn i put them in
04:46 PM JT-Shop: I assume the second [HAL] is ignored
04:46 PM JT-Shop: hal files are loaded in order and I think you can only have one post gui hal file
04:46 PM Guest53: [RS274NGC]
04:46 PM Guest53: SUBROUTINE_PATH = macros
04:46 PM Guest53: ON_ABORT_COMMAND = O <on_abort> call
04:46 PM Guest53: FEATURES = 12
04:46 PM Guest53: RETAIN_G43 = 0
04:46 PM Guest53: INI_VARS = 1
04:46 PM Guest53: HAL_PIN_VARS = 1
04:46 PM JT-Shop: please don't flood in here
04:46 PM Guest53: sorry
04:47 PM JT-Shop: np
04:47 PM Tom_L: yeah we get enough rain as it is
04:47 PM JT-Shop: lol
04:47 PM Guest53: lol
04:47 PM XXCoder1: send rain here please lol
04:47 PM XXCoder1: need more rain
04:47 PM XXCoder1: rainforest biome with no rain is just sad
04:47 PM JT-Shop: you will have to come and get it... I don't deliver
04:47 PM XXCoder1: aw
04:48 PM Tom_L: and he's likely uphill from you
04:48 PM Guest53: so i need to add probe post gui to custom_postgui.hal
04:48 PM Tom_L: probably
04:48 PM Tom_L: i didn't look at all the files
04:48 PM Guest53: yh im high abovee sea level here
04:49 PM JT-Shop: yes put everything that needs to be loaded after the GUI is running in one post gui file
04:49 PM JT-Shop: they got the C8 mirror off but the painter went home so they can't paint until tomorrow
04:50 PM Tom_L: he just wanted to take it for a joy ride
04:50 PM JT-Shop: they have there own Corvettes to drive :)
04:52 PM Tom_L: i think i figured a way to get a good test pc on the mill
04:52 PM Tom_L: i have a spare box i use for backups but the mb has poor latency
04:52 PM JT-Shop: yuck
04:52 PM Tom_L: i'll swap it's ssd with the mill one and put a new mb in the empty box with lcnc on it
04:52 PM Tom_L: M2 and looks like good latency
04:53 PM Tom_L: if winblows works ok on the mill pc that is
04:53 PM Tom_L: it's purely a backup
04:53 PM Tom_L: until i can get another case
04:54 PM JT-Shop: can't you just put a ssd in and swap at boot up?
04:54 PM Tom_L: i just don't wanna mess up the mill ssd since it's working good
04:54 PM Tom_L: the mb i plan to use won't run some older software i need
04:55 PM Tom_L: otherwise yes
04:55 PM JT-Shop: you use the same pc for other things?
04:55 PM Tom_L: i already have 2 ssd for the mill
04:55 PM Tom_L: no
04:55 PM Tom_L: i have a spare in the office i use for backups
04:55 PM Tom_L: 2 ssd in the mill, wheezy and bookworm
04:56 PM Tom_L: right now bookworm is plugged in
04:56 PM Tom_L: but flex won't run on it since it's RTAI
04:56 PM Tom_L: so the new one is set up with PREEMPT-RT
04:56 PM JT-Shop: ok
04:57 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure how that will work with my old hardware setup but we'll see
04:57 PM Tom_L: i may still have to swap back and forth
04:57 PM Tom_L: if i had a case there wouldn't be an issue
04:58 PM Tom_L: i'm running an 7i90 on the mill but test flex with a 7i80
04:58 PM Tom_L: with the same config
04:59 PM JT-Shop: you like to be daring
05:04 PM JT-Shop: what size case?
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <tubbylumpkins2424> oh there we go
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <tubbylumpkins2424> jesus christ I am so fucking fat
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <tubbylumpkins2424> captainhindsight_. what do I do with myself
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <tubbylumpkins2424> I'm almost as fat and ugly as xxcoder
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <tubbylumpkins2424> and this cold is not going away
05:08 PM XXCoder1: banned
05:09 PM JT-Shop: dang your fast
05:09 PM bjorkintosh: hell was that?
05:09 PM XXCoder1: if it was just insulting and curses id warn
05:09 PM JT-Shop: a mad canuck
05:09 PM XXCoder1: but this was ban dodging so yeah instant hammer
05:10 PM bjorkintosh: hah!
05:13 PM XXCoder1: whats funny is that he thinks those word hurt me
05:35 PM JT-Shop: I'm pretty sure the "he thinks" is not possible
05:36 PM Tom_L: mini atx
05:36 PM Tom_L: i had the mb fired up on the desk the other day
05:36 PM XXCoder1: lol
05:36 PM Tom_L: so daring? maybe a bit
05:37 PM Tom_L: wire strung to the 'start' pins
05:38 PM Tom_L: i just like the mini itx ones i use on the mill since i've got limited space out there
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/XPxlPaBYWBTVMejePXkSiUGU/20240603_173156.jpg
05:38 PM JT-Shop: I think I had d525 mb in those or something like that
05:39 PM Tom_L: M525 is what i have on the mill now
05:40 PM JT-Shop: I can send you one if you want it, the power supply is not working IIRC
05:41 PM Tom_L: i have one in my amazon cart
05:41 PM JT-Shop: with a working power supply?
05:41 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:41 PM JT-Shop: that's better than mine
05:45 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:46 PM Tom_itx: https://www.amazon.com/hz/mobile/mission
05:46 PM Tom_L: i have a couple of those
05:47 PM JT-Shop: books?
05:47 PM Tom_L: mmm link didn't work i guess
05:47 PM Tom_L: picture a cheap black pc case :)
05:48 PM JT-Shop: kinda like the two next to the bandsaw?
05:49 PM Tom_itx: https://www.amazon.com/Apex-Computer-Technology-Inc-Accessories/dp/B00K0BNCK4
05:49 PM Tom_itx: i have a couple of those too, one is on the mill
05:50 PM Tom_L: but those are itx not atx
05:51 PM Tom_itx: https://www.newegg.com/black-apex-tx-series-microatx-tower/p/N82E16811154113
05:52 PM Tom_L: w/300w supply
05:52 PM Tom_L: chinaco watt
05:53 PM Tom_L: they used to be around $40-50
05:56 PM Tom_L: i got a couple huge towers but i'm not about to use those
05:58 PM Tom_L: anyway, i'll try switching stuff once i get a min or three
05:58 PM JT-Shop: ok
05:58 PM Tom_L: had to take the kids tire to be fixed today
05:59 PM Tom_L: he's got bad luck with tires
05:59 PM Tom_L: nail this time
05:59 PM JT-Shop: discount tire?
05:59 PM Tom_L: on his 23 silverado
05:59 PM Tom_L: 2nd one on it
05:59 PM Tom_L: they just plugged it
06:00 PM JT-Shop: discount tire fixes them for free
06:00 PM JT-Shop: and they plug/patch
06:00 PM Tom_L: i don't know if we have one of those here
06:00 PM Tom_L: i have a tire store i've gone to for years and somewhat know them
06:00 PM Tom_L: going
06:01 PM JT-Shop: yeah if you know a tire shop it's good to use them
06:01 PM Tom_L: well the kid has it now but the dad started it in 77
06:01 PM JT-Shop: looks like you have two discount tires one in the east and one northwest
06:01 PM Tom_L: could be
06:02 PM Tom_L: i may check them out next tire change
06:02 PM Tom_L: i got a couple dead batteries in the sensors on the suv
06:02 PM Tom_L: but i'm not that worried about those
06:03 PM JT-Shop: tpm sensor?
06:03 PM Tom_L: yeah
06:03 PM Tom_L: honda doesn't use those
06:03 PM Tom_L: they must calculate the rotation somehow
06:04 PM Tom_L: no sensors on the civic
06:04 PM bjorkintosh: eh. I think my '09 accord has it.
06:04 PM JT-Shop: yup they have wheel sensors on all wheels and they say you have a flat if the rotation is different
06:04 PM bjorkintosh: it sometimes produces an error.
06:04 PM bjorkintosh: oh.
06:05 PM bjorkintosh: so it must be calibrated then?
06:05 PM bjorkintosh: 'cause if all the tires are equally slightly deflated, how would it know?
06:05 PM Tom_L: it wouldn't
06:05 PM JT-Shop: if all wheels are rotating the same then no flat or all flat lol
06:05 PM Tom_L: leave it to the Japs
06:06 PM * bjorkintosh blew out two rear tires and the spare within less than a day.
06:06 PM bjorkintosh: that was an expensive day.
06:06 PM Tom_L: driving beyond their limits????
06:06 PM JT-Shop: try blowing out a rear tire on a JD 310A
06:06 PM Tom_L: be honest...
06:06 PM bjorkintosh: Tom_L: turns out honda accords require rear alignment and I didn't know that.
06:06 PM bjorkintosh: the tires are both low profile and slightly misaligned.
06:07 PM bjorkintosh: that was enough to cost me big.
06:07 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, fill em with cement
06:07 PM bjorkintosh: and then, I didn't know hondas had that horrific turn and press brake thing.
06:07 PM JT-Shop: everytime I get a Honda serviced it checks the alignment and tires
06:07 PM bjorkintosh: well every car I've ever had, only had front end alignment.
06:08 PM bjorkintosh: and then I got the honda. and then I found out.
06:08 PM Tom_L: i had to 4 wheel align an impalla
06:08 PM JT-Shop: all my hondas have 4 wheel alignment
06:08 PM Tom_L: and it still wasn't quite right
06:08 PM bjorkintosh: yeah I didn't know it was a thing.
06:08 PM JT-Shop: as well as the cheby
06:08 PM Tom_L: not enough adjustment slot
06:08 PM bjorkintosh: frankly I don't see what advantage it has.
06:09 PM lcnc-relay: <zincboy_ca_on> Any car with an independent rear suspension needs 4 wheel alignment.
06:09 PM Tom_L: we did it on the late model racecar on purpose
06:09 PM Tom_L: offset it some
06:09 PM Tom_L: so it did better in the turns
06:09 PM bjorkintosh: right. complicated.
06:11 PM Tom_L: offset tires too
06:16 PM XXCoder1: offset like this? https://www.tiktok.com/@patndapot/video/7132536428679957806?lang=en ;)
06:17 PM XXCoder1: sorry about tiktok but only video I can find
06:24 PM bjorkintosh: An error occurred during a connection to www.tiktok.com.
06:24 PM bjorkintosh: ah. pihole :-)
06:25 PM Tom_L: we'd measure the tire diameter and put the big one on the RR
06:26 PM Tom_L: sometimes added more grooves too to keep them cooler
06:27 PM Tom_L: some tracks would still blister tires
06:28 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
06:28 PM Tom_L: nobody cared to share their setups either
06:29 PM XXCoder1: bjorkintosh: yeah crappy site. it shows a truck driving kinda sideways
06:29 PM Tom_L: https://dirttracksupply.com/2018/06/05/wheel-offset-changes/
06:29 PM XXCoder1: because rear was really badly offset and misaligned
06:29 PM Tom_L: covers a bit of it
06:30 PM XXCoder1: interesting
06:30 PM XXCoder1: oh hey https://youtu.be/BbvSay2gDU8
06:30 PM XXCoder1: not same truck, but far worse error lol
06:31 PM Tom_L: that's called dogleg
06:31 PM XXCoder1: lol
06:31 PM Tom_L: it's true
06:32 PM XXCoder1: no doubts, just found it funny
06:35 PM Tom_L: http://www.getstartedracing.com/panard-bars-and-handling/
06:36 PM Tom_L: i forget what it was called but we had a bar attached to the rear end going to the front of the car to prevent rearend roll too
06:36 PM Tom_L: it was also adjustable
06:37 PM Tom_L: you got enough torque, the rear end will try to roll up
06:39 PM Tom_L: iirc they were fiberglass and had a certain amount of spring to them
06:39 PM Tom_L: which was adjustable
06:39 PM Tom_L: when the rear end unloads you want to take advantage of that
06:39 PM Tom_L: off a corner etc
06:40 PM Tom_L: that's probably what that chunk of iron attached to the rear end above the cross bar is
06:40 PM Tom_L: on that pic
06:41 PM Tom_L: bit different design that ours was
06:44 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> well - the hydraulics need to be looked at.. I don't know what the fuck it is suppose to do. The pump goes through the valve to the cyclinder and back.. Then there is a 3rd line that is just wire tied up under from the valve. Over pressure?
06:44 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> but oil just dumps out of the line when you run the valve.
06:44 PM Tom_L: not a dual acting cylinder?
06:44 PM Tom_L: now made to single acting
06:44 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> It seems to be a dual acting cyclinder..
06:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> like I say - the pump goes through the vavle - through the cylinder - back to the pump.
06:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> the valve has a 3rd line that doesn't go anywhere.
06:45 PM Tom_L: one would be overpressure probably
06:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> and oil dumps out of it.
06:45 PM Tom_L: i dunno alot about hydraulics
06:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I would think. I wonder where it was supposed to go?
06:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> an over-flow container?
06:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> weird.
06:46 PM Tom_L: back to the tank
06:46 PM Tom_L: probably
06:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> no tanl
06:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> no tank
06:46 PM Tom_L: heh
06:46 PM Tom_L: is that missing too>
06:46 PM Tom_L: ?>
06:46 PM Tom_L: it should have a reservoir somewhere
06:47 PM Tom_L: when the cylinder is down it's gotta go somewhere
06:47 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I think who-ever did this work didn't really understand hydraulics. Unless the cylinder has a reservoir..
06:47 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I have no clue how dumps are setup.
06:47 PM Tom_L: just about has to i'd think
06:47 PM Tom_L: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/32-below-shows-the-dump-truck-hydraulic-components_fig59_309742348
06:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> there are 2 lines to the cylinder though
06:49 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> (and the cylinder has some sort of valve on it..)
06:49 PM Tom_L: https://ktihydraulicsinc.com/support/ins-double-acting/
06:51 PM Tom_L: https://engineering.stackexchange.com/questions/39402/circuit-to-provide-position-control-for-double-action-hydraulic-actuator
06:51 PM Tom_L: maybe the cylinder valve is a check valve
06:55 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I don't know - I think maybe the cylinder had a valve. - then they added a valve.. I don't know
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> in the mux4 component, what is mux4.0.time?
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> is that something servo thread?
07:33 PM Tom_L: yes
07:33 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ok, so not settable
07:33 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> or do anything with really?
07:33 PM Tom_L: oh wait.. i've never used time on that component
07:33 PM Tom_L: but it loads in the servo thread doens't it?
07:33 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah
07:34 PM Tom_L: that would likely be the time constant then
07:34 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> and theres no discription in the docs
07:34 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> ok, so like the peroid or something?
07:35 PM Tom_L: i don't see mux4.x.time as a parameter
07:35 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/man/man9/mux4.9.html
07:36 PM Tom_L: where did you see that?
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah exactly
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its in halshow
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> its def the servo thread something
07:39 PM Tom_L: no idea
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> because it matches another servo thread thing
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah it looks like its just doing the....peroid or something
07:39 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> not a settable thing
07:39 PM Tom_L: may be an internal pin etc
07:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> yeah looks like
07:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> just trying to figure out why a user has some kind of 30sec delay when using his pendant
07:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> selects jog scale, and he reports it takes like 30sec to update
07:40 PM Tom_L: mmm
07:41 PM Tom_L: what is mux used for on the pendant except switching axis?
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> even with an unneeded basethread, im not having a lag issue
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> scale
07:41 PM Tom_L: ok
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> we only got 16 inputs on remora, so hes maxing it out, so he has it on a mux
07:41 PM Tom_L: maybe scale was what i meant to say :)
07:41 PM Tom_L: one or the other
07:41 PM Tom_L: or possibly both
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> with axis gui, im not seeing an issue
07:42 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> he is using on of the qt gui's
08:21 PM roycroft: so i have the all clear to do some typing wtihout my brace
08:22 PM XXCoder1: roy do you know if theres any infinitely rotatable usb connector?
08:35 PM roycroft: i do not know that there is or that there isn't
08:35 PM * roycroft knows a lot of stuff but doesn't really know much at all
08:36 PM XXCoder1: it dont seem so so far lol. highest I found was 540 degree
09:02 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/XLtuXHwrSNPqKjfLDWfyrLak/PXL_20240604_013254499.mp4
09:03 PM Tom_L: cool
09:04 PM Tom_L: just don't cross under a bridge with it like that
09:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Needs miffler
09:04 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Muffler
09:04 PM XXCoder1: lol yeh saw few videos of that
09:04 PM Tom_L: that actually happened here with a dupster truck
09:05 PM Tom_L: took out a few blocks of pwer lines and hit a bridge
09:05 PM XXCoder1: one even glitched somewhere somehow so it started lifting as it neared bridge
09:05 PM XXCoder1: started dumping rocks
09:05 PM Tom_L: before he realized it was up
09:05 PM Tom_L: dumpster
09:06 PM * Tom_L puts his glasses on
09:06 PM XXCoder1: was he dumped out of job?
09:06 PM Tom_L: i have no doubt of that
09:07 PM XXCoder1: besides from glitch one they dont have excuse
09:07 PM XXCoder1: should do vehicle inspection before go
09:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> The valve in the cab doesn't run the dump..
09:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> It must have run a plow or something
09:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> The valve on the cylinder runs the dump
09:16 PM Tom_L: huh
09:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> And has a reservoir
09:16 PM XXCoder1: yeah dont know how it happened. it was just video I saw some years ago
09:17 PM XXCoder1: other ones always had it already fully upwards and going on freeway
09:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I had to put about a gallon of hydraulic fluid in it to get it to dump all the way
09:18 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> There is a plug at the top of the cylinder to fill.. got it up as far as it would go - then blocked it and filled it
09:20 PM Tom_L: 2011
09:20 PM Tom_L: https://www.wichita.gov/Archive/ViewFile/Item/2089
09:21 PM Tom_L: numerous power lines and traffic signals
09:22 PM XXCoder1: did driver not hear the crushing noises>
09:22 PM XXCoder1: id have felt impacts
09:22 PM Tom_L: i'm sure he noticed the abrupt stop when he hit it
09:22 PM XXCoder1: yep
09:23 PM Tom_L: all the news storries on it were pay per view so i didn't link them
09:30 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/trucker-who-crashed-dump-truck-in-burlington-skyway-sentenced-to-jail-time-1.3683838
09:31 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> that was the one by my house
09:35 PM XXCoder1: tried to find that video. no luck
09:36 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I forgot my computer at work... anyone know any decent online/offline sims for windows ?
09:46 PM XXCoder1: what kind of sim? cnc?
09:46 PM XXCoder1: only one I can really thinjk of is camotics. dunno if its good though
09:49 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Its worth a shot, just rather catch errors before I waste a ton of time at work on a personal project.
10:22 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/XdzKBsOulUAChDPphoDgorpL/image.png
10:22 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Well it caught my math is definitely off. I thought I could fit this onto 1 4x8'
10:22 PM XXCoder1: camotics?
10:22 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/PaPJWduFPBbpjRFUuKkMQvPR/image.png
10:22 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Inkscape lied to me somewhere...
10:22 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Yea camotics seems to work fairly decent
10:23 PM XXCoder1: its old name is openscam lol
10:23 PM XXCoder1: can be read as open source cam, or open scam
10:23 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> camotics doesn't understand G53 is the only one I've noticed
10:24 PM XXCoder1: it dont understand machine coord? weird
10:24 PM Tom_L: https://ncviewer.com/
10:25 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> ncviewer doesn't do loops unfortuanatly
10:27 PM Tom_L: https://nraynaud.github.io/webgcode/
10:28 PM Tom_L: haven't tried that one
10:29 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> May it just doesn't know what my machine Z max is?
10:29 PM Tom_L: which one?
10:29 PM Tom_L: that last one use the mouse on the box for different views
10:30 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> camotics, G53 G0 Z0 is just cutting through the part.
10:31 PM XXCoder1: i dont remember if camotics have machine setup info
10:31 PM Tom_L: are you using a work offset?
10:31 PM Tom_L: G53 is world coordinates
10:35 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I generally use it for a safe Z height. G53 G0 Z0 is the highest the tool can go on any of my machines.
10:35 PM Tom_L: same here
10:35 PM Tom_L: does the sim think that is inverted?
10:36 PM Tom_L: anything below that is -Z
10:36 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/xRPwoYMoGnHkAkChCWufNRyc/image.png
10:36 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I can't change cnc manufactures. The depth on my grooves vs cuts look correct just G53 moves go through the peice
10:36 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> can change*
10:37 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I don't think I'm fitting this onto one board...
10:38 PM Tom_L: what is it?
10:38 PM XXCoder1: ahh https://github.com/CauldronDevelopmentLLC/CAMotics/issues/328
10:39 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> looks about right.
10:40 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/NXrJHriBDPpijemYsZfvIZRF/image.png
10:40 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> My wife found a thing on pinterest...
10:40 PM Tom_L: looks like a connect 4 game
10:40 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> yessir.
10:40 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> But large.
10:41 PM XXCoder1: interesting
10:41 PM XXCoder1: perfect for large groups game I guess lol
10:41 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> And I really don't want to drill 84 holes by hand...
10:41 PM Tom_L: well don't
10:42 PM Tom_L: scale it down 10% and it will fit
10:42 PM Tom_L: :)
10:42 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> tempting...
10:42 PM Tom_L: wtf difference would it make on that?
10:42 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Change G20 to G21 ? ð
10:43 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Rewriting all the code...
10:43 PM Tom_L: not a cad file?
10:43 PM Tom_L: most cads will scale
10:43 PM Tom_L: pretty easy too
10:44 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I wrote the code by hand... I can doodle in inventor but just wanted it quick and dirty
10:44 PM Tom_L: save a copy in case you don't like it
10:45 PM Tom_L: i have an editor that (i think) lets you do math on an axis or three
10:45 PM Tom_L: not sure what it would do with the holes
10:46 PM Tom_L: anyway. enough for one day.
10:46 PM Tom_L: later
10:47 PM XXCoder1: lter
10:47 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Yea all circles need to go from 4" to 3.5" and 5" to 4.5"
10:47 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> I think thats a job for later me.
10:47 PM XXCoder1: yeah thats perfect since future you cant go back in time and face you
10:48 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Sucks to be that guy
10:49 PM XXCoder1: yep
11:02 PM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Camotics would just need an offset table to support G53. Guessing it doesn't support any other wcs
11:02 PM XXCoder1: wonder if you could change g53 to g55 and set that to "machine" coord
