01:09 AM Deejay: moin
04:11 AM Tom_L: morning
04:14 AM Tom_L: spindle_actual_speed_lb made it to the docs but not the code
05:04 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:55 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> Morning
09:41 AM * JT-Shop needs a 90° miter joint for 2x8's that looks good on the outside
10:21 AM roycroft: i did not sleepp at all last night :(
10:22 AM * roycroft wants hhis wet noodle arm back
10:24 AM JT-Woodshop: https://simplegreen.com/professional/cleaning-tips/garage-tools/saw-blades/
10:25 AM CaptHindsight: roycroft: even with meds?
10:25 AM roycroft: yes, even with meds
10:27 AM CaptHindsight: :(
10:28 AM roycroft: a couple hours ago i tried (after research to ensure it's safe to do) a combo of oxycodone and ibuprofin, and that is offering sme relief
10:29 AM CaptHindsight: I jog a few miles in my sleep as well as perform the 8 basic ballet positions, so I'd have trouble with just a cast on anything
10:29 AM roycroft: but neither alone had much effect, and i pushed the dosages right to the maximum limits
10:29 AM roycroft: i kind of anticipated this might happen
10:30 AM roycroft: but be prepared that i may be moreincoherent than "normal" for a day or two
10:30 AM CaptHindsight: pain meds don't work very well for me either, I'd be into fatal dosages to get relief some times
10:31 AM roycroft: yeah, and i'm not going there
10:33 AM roycroft: the problem is that the incision is on the underside of my wrist, so it sits directly on the cast, and bears the weight of mr forearm
10:34 AM roycroft: and that is where akk the pain is
10:35 AM roycroft: if i lift my hand up with my other hand to relieve the pressure much of the pain goes away
10:38 AM roycroft: in the lemonade category, when i reboot a work server it takes me several minutes to set up my workflow so i can manage the machine efficiently
10:40 AM roycroft: with my injury, it takes at least 3-4x as long as normal, so i've been spending time reassessing my workflows and looking for tools to helpwith that
10:43 AM roycroft: one utility alone - tmuxinator - will save a tremendous amount of time and easily accomodate both multiple workflows on a machine and multi-machine workflows
10:44 AM roycroft: once i create the config files, which are written in lua
11:07 AM CaptHindsight: roycroft: do they want you resting the arm or moving it around?
11:08 AM roycroft: resting for now
11:09 AM roycroft: pt when i get the cast off, on the 23rd
11:09 AM roycroft: i'm wiggling my fingers now, though
11:10 AM roycroft: in large part because i could not do so while i had tge splint
11:11 AM roycroft: and they feel like they need to move
12:30 PM bjorkintosh: roycroft, what happened?
12:46 PM Tom_L: bjorkintosh, roycroft.us/RoyBorg.jpeg
12:47 PM bjorkintosh: geeze!
12:54 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, PR #23 ready
12:58 PM JT-Shop: I noticed that axis velocity only reports jog moves...
01:01 PM * JT-Shop heads to Foxy
01:11 PM roycroft: bjorkintosh: don't mess with gravity. it always wins
01:22 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> roycroft: totally agree. one of my favorite expressions: gravity works.....
01:23 PM skunkworks: I broke my wrist running away from a girl up the stairs in highschool.. Tripped - cought my hand on the edge of the stairs and never seen my fingers bend back that far..
01:23 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> did she catch you ?
01:23 PM Tom_L: she must have been pretty scary
01:23 PM skunkworks: didn't really know it was fractured until I tried to pull up my socks the next morning..
01:24 PM skunkworks: (almost vomited)
01:25 PM skunkworks: we were just goofing around.. Isn't that how most accidents happen?
01:25 PM skunkworks: Girls didn't really get interested in me until college..
01:29 PM skunkworks: Knock on wood - that is the only bone I have ever broke.
01:34 PM roycroft: i knew instantly that my wrist was broken
01:35 PM Tom_L: no broken bones but i did lay my thumb all the way back once.. torn soft tissue
01:35 PM skunkworks: I bet... This was just a fracture..
01:35 PM Tom_L: didn't even know it until i tried to throw the softball back infield and it dropped behind me
01:36 PM skunkworks: yecky
01:36 PM Tom_L: the scars we brag about now...
01:36 PM bjorkintosh: heh. I jumped off a stupid thing I was painting. just a bit over 5 ft. nothing serious
01:37 PM bjorkintosh: except I caught my foot on something and body slammed into the fucking ground and fractured my elbow
01:37 PM bjorkintosh: that. That was painful.
02:36 PM * roycroft wonders how big a scar he'll have
02:57 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
03:03 PM rdtsc: In my 30's I'd ride mountain bike in the winter at Ray's MTB park https://www.raysmtb.com
03:04 PM rdtsc: Went around the outside loop one last time, blacked out cresting the largest ramp, came off it sideways, and slammed into the concrete floor. Two torn rotator cuffs... then had to drive home like that in torrential snow
03:08 PM roycroft: it wasn't so ba for me, but i did have to drive myself to the er, which was an hour of drining on a windy moubtain road
03:10 PM rdtsc: Someone there gave me two 800mg pain relievers so driving was surprisingly fine. Couldn't do much of anything for months after that though. Showering without arms? Tough.
03:11 PM roycroft: it's hard enough with one useless arm
03:12 PM roycroft: i can hardly imagine both of them being useless
03:13 PM bjorkintosh: 'recovering'. not useless :-)
03:13 PM * bjorkintosh is trying to be optimistic and upbeat.
03:13 PM rdtsc: That plate + screws doesn't look like fun, but the good news is it will heal faster and straighter, and you'll be better off in the long run.
03:24 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> when i was 12 i got a "Buckle Fracture" in one of my wrist bones. had just a splint, cause my mom refused to believe it was broken...
03:25 PM roycroft: yes
03:25 PM roycroft: and traction did not align the bones properly
03:25 PM roycroft: not even close
03:27 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> i'm thinking i may have to sell my truck to get my shop built... not something i want to do...
03:27 PM roycroft: i'm also finding out, through this ordeal, who my real friends are, and it's more people than i thought
03:28 PM XXCoder: fewer fair weather friends than thought eh
03:28 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> you always find your real friends in times of trouble, roycroft. i found that
03:29 PM roycroft: i've asked for nothing, except transport to the surgery center and back, but i've had lots of offers to help
03:38 PM rdtsc: Hmm, is this item even up to electrical code? https://www.ebay.com/itm/165491055087
03:38 PM rdtsc: It doesn't use a neutral wire... so then is it drawing some tiny amount of power from the ground wire?
03:40 PM rdtsc: Or I should say, back to the ground wire.
03:41 PM rdtsc: I'd think this would play hell with GFCI's and RCD's, etc.
03:42 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> hmmm, certainly found out who my friends are, with a single statement...
04:44 PM CaptHindsight: not just friends, you even find out about your family
04:45 PM CaptHindsight: in talking with patients at a mental facility I was shocked by how many families practically disowned them or even went as far as getting orders of protection against having any contact
04:45 PM CaptHindsight: mental health facility
04:47 PM CaptHindsight: parents of adult children commonly just write them off and go to court to block contact with them if they have any form of psychosis
04:48 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> there are a lot of schmucks around
04:48 PM XXCoder: yeah some people just suck
04:49 PM CaptHindsight: it's also very common for cancer patients to have "friends" disappear
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> well, well, just hit 80.1 F
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> 36 % humidity
05:03 PM CaptHindsight: rain here today and in the 50's (10-12C)
05:12 PM JT-Shop: sunny and 72°F here tomorrow
05:13 PM * JT-Shop figured out how to make a `80's press brake to work
05:13 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: hydraulic ?
05:13 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> or motor with really big flywheel
05:13 PM JT-Shop: mechanical
05:14 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> watch your fingers...
05:14 PM JT-Shop: a small flywheel because it just a press brake not a forming press
05:15 PM JT-Shop: the 100 ton press next to it has a huge flywheel
05:17 PM JT-Shop: I was surprised when we finally got it to stroke how slow it is
05:20 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> thought you're retired....
05:20 PM JT-Shop: that's what I thought
05:24 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> criminy.... forecast tomorrow is 90
05:25 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> you see Chevy is killing off the Malibu ??
05:27 PM JT-Shop: no
05:27 PM JT-Shop: it's a crap car now a days anyhow
05:28 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> definitly not what it used to be.
05:28 PM JT-Shop: budget gave me on in Las Vegas and it was not equivalent to Charger I rented
05:29 PM JT-Shop: I'll never use budget again
05:47 PM Tom_L: 76F here tomorrow
05:47 PM JT-Shop: nice
05:47 PM JT-Shop: sunny?
05:47 PM Tom_L: is right now
05:47 PM Tom_L: partly cloudy tomorrow
05:47 PM JT-Shop: reworking velocity
05:47 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
05:48 PM Tom_L: didn't sound like it was quite what you expected
05:48 PM JT-Shop: well axis velocity only works when you jog to joint velocity works while jogging or running
05:49 PM JT-Shop: and that drove me nuts for a while because I was using joint velocity on one and axis velocity on the other
05:49 PM Tom_L: ahh
05:50 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
05:50 PM Tom_L: you'd think it would be the same
05:53 PM JT-Shop: I assumed it was and that drove me nuts
05:57 PM JT-Shop: hmm I have to wire up a hydraulic valve Monday and test a cardboard baler
05:59 PM Tom_L: get the mov in?
05:59 PM JT-Shop: they had to change the valve
06:00 PM JT-Shop: changed the contator and put the mov in a week ago but the valve was not working correctly
06:07 PM Tom_L: you fixed spindle_actual_speed_lb?
06:07 PM JT-Shop: I think so
06:08 PM Tom_L: the number shows up now instead of textlabel
06:09 PM Tom_L: is spindle_speed_0_lb the commanded speed and the new one the actual?
06:09 PM JT-Shop: actual is commanded plus override
06:09 PM Tom_L: actual takes into account the override...
06:10 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> some spindle, like mine, have encoders... know the absolute real speed
06:10 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> got a pid loop
06:10 PM JT-Shop: that's a different situation
06:10 PM Tom_L: we talked about that yesterday and he hid under a rock
06:11 PM JT-Shop: I had a chicken on my head I think
06:11 PM Tom_L: you could do that with a hal_pin input
06:11 PM Tom_L: and wine in your hand
06:11 PM JT-Shop: yup using the velocity pin from the encoder
06:11 PM Tom_L: roguish, it will be there in time
06:12 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> no doubt
06:13 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, is the spindle slider part of that _lb now?
06:13 PM Tom_L: ahh yeah, it's there already and working
06:13 PM JT-Shop: the actual spindle speed label uses the override value and the commanded speed
06:13 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> you guys are working late....... i'm off tot the deck with a cocktail, chips and salsa...... hasta manyana (bad spelling....)
06:14 PM JT-Shop: I'm on my 3rd glass of cab...
06:17 PM Tom_L: ok so with the spindle speed spin box & the spindle +- buttons i get some unexpected results
06:19 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle_speed1.png
06:21 PM Tom_L: set the speed to 100 with the spin box, spindle FWD, push the + 2x and get 120 on mine, spindle stop, spindle fwd and get 300
06:21 PM Tom_L: my +-increment is 10
06:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle1.png
06:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle2.png
06:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle3.png
06:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/spindle4.png
06:28 PM Tom_L: somehow they aren't interacting right
06:34 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
06:56 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
07:06 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
08:15 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
09:56 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
10:34 PM roycroft: yay - no oxycodone since this morning, and very little pain
10:34 PM XXCoder: thats awesome
10:34 PM XXCoder: the less you need the better
10:34 PM roycroft: yes
10:35 PM roycroft: i was hoping to be off it by today
10:37 PM roycroft: i'm also thinking clearly enough that i got some work done
11:26 PM Leeloo: In that dragon GUI, is it very hard to customize it a bit? Say if I want to see those led-like indicators for each of the 6 limit switches?
