04:07 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer> Morning 🙂
04:33 AM Tom_L: morning
04:33 AM lcnc-relay: <turboss> good morning
04:48 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:59 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:07 AM JT-Cave: anyone running a recent ubuntu and has a moment to do a test for me?
06:34 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, mesact need a build?
06:35 AM Tom_L: if so i'll get it later today
06:35 AM JT-Cave: won't hurt
06:35 AM JT-Cave: someone tried to run it on majaro or however it's spelled
06:35 AM Tom_L: may have time here before i go
06:35 AM JT-Cave: ok
06:36 AM Tom_L: if i can remember how to build it :)
06:36 AM JT-Cave: LOL
06:37 AM * JT-Cave thinks it's better to ride the mountain bike early in the morning now
06:38 AM Tom_L: good thing i made the script
06:38 AM JT-Cave: that must save you from trying to remember
06:39 AM Tom_L: #91 up
06:39 AM JT-Cave: k
06:39 AM Tom_L: and quick
06:40 AM JT-Cave: and done on my end thanks
06:40 AM Tom_L: yup
06:42 AM JT-Cave: time to break fast
06:52 AM Tom_L: yeah, ride while it's cool
10:46 AM JT-Cave: pcw---home, what's the 5v power supply requirement for the 7i92tm?
10:51 AM pcw---home: about 250 mA + any daughtercard power
10:52 AM pcw---home: Usually suggest 1A or 2A
11:03 AM JT-Cave: ok thanks
11:04 AM JT-Cave: I actually found that on page 35
11:15 AM roycroft: great - the usps have decided that i cannot receive mail at my new address, and the items that i had shipped there are on delivery hold
11:15 AM roycroft: they won't talk to me about why they won't deliver
11:16 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> do you have an occupancy permit??
11:16 AM roycroft: they just say that they cannot deliver to that address, even though i get lots of mail for previous residents
11:16 AM roycroft: no, but i have a deed
11:16 AM roycroft: occupancey permits are issued here for new construction
11:16 AM roycroft: not for people moving
11:16 AM roycroft: an occupancy permit is the last step in the building permit process
11:18 AM roycroft: i'm going to have to drive there and visit the post office in person, i guess
11:26 AM roycroft: yes, apparently i have to fill out a form declaring that i am eligible to receive mail at my new address
11:26 AM roycroft: something i have never had to do in my life
11:26 AM roycroft: but apparently that's a thing now
11:27 AM JT-Shop_: it's either homeland security or they know you...
11:27 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
11:28 AM * JT-Shop takes a nap
11:33 AM roycroft: perhaps
11:33 AM roycroft: the last time i moved, homeland security did not exist
11:43 AM roycroft: if someone had told me i have to register with the postal service when i move i'd have done so a long time ago
12:32 PM Unterhaus__ is now known as Unterhausen
01:28 PM Tom_L: i don't plan on moving and am glad about that
01:28 PM Tom_L: seems like too much headache
01:28 PM roycroft: when i was in my early '20s i'd move multiple times/year
01:29 PM roycroft: i can't imagine that these days
01:29 PM roycroft: but i also did not have much stuff back then
01:29 PM Tom_L: aside from that i don't feel like moving 45 yrs of crap
01:32 PM Tom_L: would be nice to have more space but i make do with what i have
01:33 PM Tom_L: i'd just acumulate more crap
01:46 PM roycroft: i'm hoping to get rid of a significant amount of stuff when i move
01:46 PM roycroft: i haven't brewed beer in about 5 years, and i've decided to sell my brewing gear
01:46 PM roycroft: that will free up a whole lot of space
01:47 PM roycroft: i do plan on making mead and cider going forward, but i just don't have time, space, energy, or liver to brew beer any more
01:47 PM roycroft: my plan is to move what i use first
01:47 PM roycroft: and then organize what's left, and start having huge garage sales
01:58 PM XXCoder: monday and got first cnc machinist email already
02:05 PM roycroft: was it all you hoped it would be?
02:05 PM XXCoder: lol it was for "on location machinist job"
02:06 PM XXCoder: i guess either meant work at home, or travel
02:06 PM roycroft: sounds like a job at an oil rig
02:06 PM XXCoder: aerospace
02:06 PM roycroft: ok, so you'd be a flying machinst
02:07 PM roycroft: must be interesting operating a lathe or a mill while traveling at 600mph
02:07 PM XXCoder: lol
02:07 PM XXCoder: making replacement parts for parts that fell off
02:08 PM XXCoder: missing bolts? just make em before landing
02:10 PM roycroft: i wonder how turbulence affects holding tolerance
02:10 PM XXCoder: definitely good question
02:11 PM Tom_L: machine shop on a boat
02:12 PM Tom_L: would be more likely
02:12 PM roycroft: you could install ginormous gyroscopic stablilizers
02:12 PM roycroft: and have a floating machine shop
02:12 PM XXCoder: nah its likely some roaming machinist that helps sites make parts faster then go back or something
02:14 PM XXCoder: or specality part that operators cant make
02:14 PM XXCoder: doesnt matter to me anyway, im retired

04:42 PM CaptHindsight: roycroft: my mail carrier handed me a change of address form a few months back and I did nothing, my mail eventually just started showing up
05:14 PM JT-Shop: Leo's last video was a bit strange... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsTh2M1zIcY

06:52 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I have moved 5 times in my life.. last move was back to where I grew up. All within 20 miles from here.
08:52 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I don't like change I guess.
08:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I think the cheap low pressure electric fuel pump I got for the 42 developes too much pressure. The carbs float can't shut off..
08:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> (and the floats are good - and the kneedle valve is new and good)
08:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I can shut it off with my hand pushing up on the floats - but the boyancy of them must not be enough.
08:54 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> buoyancy...
08:54 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Also -this thing must not have run well at all. I thought the vacuum advance diaphram was bad - turned out the metal tube between the carb and the advance had a hole rusted through it..
09:45 PM solarwind: I know you're supposed to use diamond wheels to sharpen tungsten electrodes, but I have a CBN wheel on my bench grinder
09:46 PM solarwind: I wonder if it's going to hurt it sharpening tungsten
09:46 PM solarwind: It's a $300 CBN wheel lol. Produces a beautiful polish on HSS tools
09:50 PM roycroft: i would not use it with tungsten unless you have a pockt full of $300 bills that are weighing you down and you need to get rid of them
