01:43 AM Deejay: moin
03:20 AM solarwind:  andypugh you suggested a certain zinc chloride flux for soldering sheet metal, I forgot the brand
03:20 AM solarwind: I wanted to look up its specs so I can make my own since they don't seem to sell it in north america
03:45 AM lcnc-relay: <satiowadahc#0> Not technically but if there is an interpreter sync than yes.
05:00 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:02 AM rob_h_: a sunny morning too
05:08 AM JT-Cave: hi rob_h_
05:08 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, https://pasteboard.co/Xu1bIR8UdaMs.png
05:09 AM rob_h_: hi jt, long time no see
05:09 AM JT-Cave: you still making rc car parts?
05:11 AM rob_h_: yea and other bits and bobs
05:12 AM JT-Cave: I'm not doing a lot anymore, the place that was keeping me busy closed down
05:12 AM rob_h_: not sure why as UK realy sucks for making stuff here now days, Material is crazy high and hard to get right stuff, energy prices are killer now
05:13 AM JT-Cave: that sucks
05:14 AM rob_h_: yea realy, so your kinda retired now then?
05:15 AM JT-Cave: kinda yeah I'm 70 so I don't mind so much
05:15 AM JT-Cave: drive around in my Corvette and look for a winery or nice place to go
05:16 AM rob_h_: oh lovly wining and dining
05:16 AM JT-Cave: https://pasteboard.co/zmtUQdLkGJYc.jpg
05:17 AM JT-Cave: wife gets back surgery next week so I'm mister mom for about 4-6 weeks
05:17 AM rob_h_: im rebuilding house still after house fire few years ago so keeping me bussy, almost at the end now just all the house inspections along the way , builders that are well just useless and guess engineer makes a bad builder as always moaning about there tolerance on stuff lol
05:17 AM JT-Cave: LOL
05:18 AM JT-Cave: sounds like a PIA too me
05:18 AM rob_h_: oh thats a nice ride. that why shee needs the back doing your sports driving haha
05:18 AM JT-Cave: here you do what you like no inspectors at all
05:19 AM rob_h_: oh it is, and if dont have 10 year garuntee one, selling it after is a pia totaly,
05:19 AM JT-Cave: last week I got to drive the exact same car (not mine) on a track in nevada
05:20 AM rob_h_: nice , not going to start doing track days too are you... sounds costly that
05:21 AM JT-Cave: it's a Corvette Owners School put on by Ron Fellows and Chevy pays part of it
05:22 AM JT-Cave: there's one track by St. Louis that a benefit club rents out a few times a year and for $250 you get 10 minutes of track time per hour all day
05:22 AM rob_h_: still got all your machines too?
05:24 AM JT-Cave: yes, I have to start up the Discovery 308 once a month or the pc dies
05:25 AM JT-Cave: https://pasteboard.co/hErSMcguz2Lk.jpg
05:25 AM JT-Cave: that's me driving on the track
05:26 AM JT-Cave: it was a very informative 2 day class as well as the track sessions
05:26 AM JT-Cave: iirc the 308 has a 286 with math coprocessor
05:27 AM rob_h_: so was did you get to max speed then
05:27 AM rob_h_: they give you instructor on track driving?
05:27 AM JT-Cave: no, the track is 1.5 miles long with a lot of corners only one straight that you can get to 100mph or so
05:28 AM rob_h_: oh yea, i still got machines like that, like the swiss lathes , at least got recharable batts inside
05:28 AM JT-Cave: it's lead follow, one instructor and 3 students and you rotate to get behind the instructor
05:28 AM rob_h_: i see, nice a bit of self lern . sounds agood day out
05:29 AM JT-Cave: at the end of day one you get a few laps in the passenger seat with the instructor going flat out
05:29 AM JT-Cave: the instructor talks to everyone over a radio
05:30 AM rob_h_: when leave the track and go home bet have remind your self no longer on the track, that be my issue
05:30 AM JT-Cave: I actually have as much fun trying to get 30 mpg as I do when driving "spirited"
05:30 AM JT-Cave: my best on the C8 is 35 MPG
05:31 AM JT-Cave: dunno what that translates to liters and meters lol
05:32 AM rob_h_: funny we use mpg here for talking about how eco. or not in your case lol
05:33 AM rob_h_: 35mpg haha i moan filling up with my 55mpg little car lol
05:34 AM JT-Cave: our Honda Insight gets 50 mpg
05:35 AM JT-Cave: my Honda Ridgeline truck is the worst for mpg gets about 27 on the highway and 24 back and forth to town
05:35 AM rob_h_: right im going to get on with the day now go do abit more window fitting
05:35 AM rob_h_: good to see you, talk later
05:37 AM JT-Cave: all right bye
06:02 AM Tom_L: morning
06:08 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, after homing: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/flexgui_coords_disabled.png
06:09 AM JT-Cave: check the button names
06:09 AM Tom_L: i did 2-3x
06:09 AM JT-Cave: https://pasteboard.co/zmtUQdLkGJYc.jpg
06:09 AM JT-Cave: wrong one
06:10 AM Tom_L: i could make the same mistook 3x though
06:10 AM JT-Cave: https://pasteboard.co/Xu1bIR8UdaMs.png
06:10 AM Tom_L: saw that, nice
06:11 AM Tom_L: touchoff_pb_x y z
06:13 AM JT-Cave: ah I'm looking at tool touch off
06:13 AM Tom_L: yeah, that works fine
06:14 AM Tom_L: did you post that ui to examples?
06:18 AM Tom_L: yeah i found it... xyz
06:28 AM JT-Cave: https://pasteboard.co/FYYsCHoffdGj.png

06:36 AM andypugh: Yeah, I was just in the middle of editng that URL-bomb when the neighbour knocked on the door.
06:39 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, much better :)
06:41 AM JT-Cave: getting there
06:41 AM Tom_L: jog slider and toolchange spinbox missing in xyz
06:42 AM Tom_L: probably name change
06:44 AM Tom_L: _s _sl on slider
06:45 AM Tom_L: _sp _sb
06:58 AM Tom_L: have you tried xyz on the bp?
06:58 AM JT-Cave: jog slider is on the jogging tab
06:58 AM JT-Cave: no
06:58 AM Tom_L: i fixed them both
06:58 AM Tom_L: just name changed on both
06:59 AM JT-Cave: been a bit since I copied xyz from configs to flex
07:00 AM Tom_L: 7 days
07:01 AM JT-Cave: can't finger out feed hold button it doesn't do anything when I set feed hold to true...
07:01 AM JT-Cave: just pushed a new xyz.ui
07:01 AM Tom_L: ok
07:03 AM JT-Cave: xyz.ui is not well thought out, I just keep adding stuff to test it lol
07:04 AM Tom_L: same with the butchered jet here
07:07 AM JT-Cave: block delete and optional stop work but feed hold and feed hole enable don't seem to do anything so time to search the other guis
07:14 AM Tom_L: bak in a while.. haircut
07:16 AM JT-Cave: k
08:02 AM * JT-Cave starts his chicken day
08:50 AM Tom_L: bak
08:52 AM JT-Cave: pull
08:52 AM Tom_L: in a bit
08:53 AM Tom_L: in windows atm
08:55 AM glbreil: rob_h
08:58 AM glbreil: Test
09:02 AM Tom_L: pass
09:12 AM JT-Cave: liaf
09:14 AM Tom_L: what did you change/fix/
09:14 AM Tom_L: ?
09:15 AM JT-Cave: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/commits/master/
09:15 AM JT-Cave: bbl
09:16 AM Tom_L: k
09:17 AM Tom_L: u been bush
09:17 AM Tom_L: busy
10:16 AM JT-Shop: yup
10:22 AM Tom_L: still stuck in windows
10:57 AM JT-Shop: heading out
01:35 PM Bleepshop|2 is now known as Bleepshop
03:07 PM solarwind: andypugh yes that's the one, thanks
03:08 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, is the sign wrong on the coordinate system combo box?
03:08 PM Tom_L: i enter 1 and get -1
03:10 PM Tom_L: also, should it update 5220 to reflect the offset selected? or is this just for setting them
03:46 PM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
04:46 PM Tom_L: ok it looks the same as axis sim, just looked wrong at first
04:54 PM Tom_L: you might look at that though, something doesn't seem quite right
04:59 PM Tom_L: meh, i think it's ok just confusing me a bit
05:58 PM JT-Shop: sign on the coordinate system combo box? now you're cornfusing me
06:29 PM Tom_L: no i think it's ok
06:29 PM Tom_L: the spin box for the touchoff
06:30 PM Tom_L: i was confused there for a bit
06:30 PM JT-Shop: ah ok, I was wondering how you got a -1 on a combo box
06:31 PM Tom_L: all 3 items kinda go together
06:31 PM Tom_L: button spinbox & combobox
06:31 PM Tom_L: still missing the startline
06:37 PM JT-Shop: it's not missing just not done yet :)
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> I've seen a few mentions of Tangential Knife Cutting on LinuxCNC forum, is there anyone here actively using it? There aren't any videos of it being used / much info on 'great success' I need to set them up something decently robust as they are not exactly 'cnc people'
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: I have a friend I'm looking to retrofit a oscillating tangential knife onto their cnc machine, but trying to decide the toolchain to set up for them. Any advice would be appreciated.
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> Tom_L you try any of the new stuff?
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> sariah.l#0 I have not played with it.. Normally though I have seen it as a hal only solution that calculates the path of the gcode and rotates the blade accordingly.. Might be a balancing act between acceleration and how fast the cutter can spin.
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> although if you impliment it as a rotary axis.. they you would have to pre-process the gcode file.
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> yeah, from what I see, the way mach3 and several others implement it is in the gcode interperater. They have a maximum angle where if the angle it's changing to exceeds it, it lifts out of the material, rotates to that angle, drops, and continues.
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> else, feed at the tangent along the arc / change at each line segment when below that angle.
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Right - linuxcnc doesn't have anything like that implimented in the interp
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> yeah. If I had my own setup / hardware to test with, I'd be up for working to implement it. But I think in this case I might have to go with Mach3, Masso, GRBL or similar. Any recommendations on that front?
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> honestly more of a motors / control systems person. Never actually operated any of these CNC NCs
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> -CNC
06:39 PM lcnc-relay: <sariah.l#0> Mach3 or Masso seems best for long term support etc. GRBL has the advantage that I could modify one of the existing uploaders / control interfaces to make it dummy-proof to operate
06:39 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, working on it
06:39 PM Tom_L: what all is new? trying to keep up
06:39 PM JT-Shop: looks like flood from a while ago
06:40 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/commits/master/
06:43 PM Tom_L: what's program options button?
06:44 PM Tom_L: added the coords stuff
06:44 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/flexgui/commit/2c11bcc7c9b6351c5added1931d6bafe7b726249
06:46 PM Tom_L: you figured out feed hold?
06:46 PM JT-Shop: no
06:46 PM Tom_L: heh
06:59 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
07:02 PM Tom_L: what's the index for tool table z? is it 2?
07:03 PM Tom_L: tool_table_zoffset_2_lb
07:03 PM JT-Cave: that's for tool 2
07:04 PM JT-Cave: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/labels.html#tool-table-status
07:04 PM JT-Cave: The Tool Table status contains status items for all the tools in the tool table. Replace the _n_ with the position in the tool table.
07:05 PM Tom_L: i had the wrong name
07:05 PM JT-Cave: is position in tool table cornfusing?
07:05 PM JT-Cave: should it be tool number?
07:05 PM JT-Cave: no it's position
07:05 PM Tom_L: yeah that's fine
07:05 PM JT-Cave: first could be 3
07:06 PM JT-Cave: then 9
07:06 PM JT-Cave: and whatever
07:06 PM Tom_L: showing the current tool offset & diameter
07:07 PM Tom_L: zoffset_0 & diameter_0
07:09 PM JT-Cave: tool_offset is the current tool iirc
07:09 PM JT-Cave: night night
07:09 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/offsets.png
07:10 PM Tom_L: need to loose Y
09:35 PM roycroft: that's the reason for the question
09:35 PM roycroft: yes, i seem to recall they were very old
09:35 PM roycroft: i'll ask him about it when he's around
09:36 PM Tom_L: gimme a few and i can probably find it
09:36 PM roycroft: i'm not around much these days, and won't be until the move is finished, but i'm sure we can connect
09:38 PM Tom_L: https://gnipsel.com/images/customers/Foxy/Bacci/
09:40 PM roycroft: thanks
09:40 PM Tom_L: and the spoke lathes https://gnipsel.com/images/customers/Foxy/
09:43 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, in reference to max_velocity_lb that comes from [DISPLAY] MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY
09:43 PM Tom_L: but should that be connected to rapid_override_sl?
09:44 PM Tom_L: there is a rapidrate_lb but i'm not sure yet what triggers it
09:46 PM Tom_L: there is also a MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY in [TRAJ] but i dunno if you're using that one
09:49 PM Tom_L: rapid_override_sl _was_ connected to rapidrate_lb but not anymore
09:49 PM Tom_L: it showed a %
10:50 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, tool_touchoff_dsb -> tool_table_zoffset_0_lb: Error: Non integer value for integer
10:51 PM Tom_L: if it is 0: Error: G10 L1 without offsets has no effect
10:58 PM Tom_L: pause, resume, step seem to work ok now
11:00 PM Tom_L: MDI should be disabled during program run
11:02 PM Tom_L: certain sequences disable pause resume during program run (having to do with manual mode)
11:05 PM Tom_L: something about G43 Zxx Hxx in a program causes pause to mess up and disables it
11:06 PM firephoto__ is now known as firephoto_
