12:26 AM memleak: andypugh, saw you got your linuxcnc rtai branch building now
12:38 AM memleak: Just don't forget about this: https://github.com/NTULINUX/linuxcnc-rtai-gnu11/commit/867ac21bfa2138988d1fd800126be23cb3d4cb60 (fixes halcompile so the runtests that depend on it, pass)
12:38 AM memleak: doesn't affect uspace builds at all
02:18 AM Deejay: moin
05:00 AM JT-Cave: 37°F rain High: 47 °F
05:35 AM Tom_L: morning
05:37 AM Tom_L: 24°F high 38°F
05:37 AM Tom_L: 6-8" snow but has stopped now
06:51 AM JT-Cave: rooster just crowed
07:58 AM solarwind: CaptHindsight
08:26 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, https://gnipsel.com/gui-builder/
10:13 AM Tom_L: ok, drive & trucks cleared of snow
10:15 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, looks like it's starting to take shape
10:25 AM JT-Cave: if you have time see if you can install and run it
10:29 AM Tom_L: well you're in luck because i just plopped my arse down to rest for a bit
10:30 AM Tom_L: right after this slice of carrot cake disappears
10:32 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:33 AM Tom_L: i don't see a deb file
10:33 AM Tom_L: oh nevermind
10:34 AM Tom_L: brain isn't fully engaged yet
10:35 AM Tom_L: does the deb create a launcher?
10:36 AM JT-Cave: no
10:37 AM Tom_dev: so it's installed. how to run it?
10:37 AM Tom_dev: i'm not sure where gdebi put it
10:37 AM JT-Cave: https://gnipsel.com/gui-builder/ini.html
10:39 AM * JT-Cave changes the index order of the docs
10:39 AM Tom_dev: what config do i add those to?
10:41 AM JT-Cave: moment
10:43 AM JT-Cave: https://gnipsel.com/gui-builder/ini.html
10:43 AM JT-Cave: you might need to reload the page
10:44 AM JT-Cave: see you out in the machine shop
10:47 AM Tom_dev: what ui name?
10:47 AM Tom_dev: GUI=
10:52 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact/emc3-ui-test.png
10:53 AM JT-Cave: hmm I need to upload the latest deb...
10:54 AM JT-Cave: crqap I have an error using the default gui...
10:55 AM * Tom_L goes to shower
10:57 AM JT-Cave: when you get back download the deb and reinstall
11:18 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact/emc3-ui-test2.png
11:23 AM Tom_L: ok i removed the GUI = line that pointed to emc3.ui
11:23 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact/emc_test3.png
11:24 AM JT-Shop: looks right except the window title...
11:24 AM JT-Shop: did you try and run it?
11:24 AM Tom_L: no
11:25 AM JT-Shop: run an axis sim then run emc from a terminal and you can see axis controls change as you use the buttons
11:25 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact/emc_test4.png
11:29 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/emc6/emc_test4.png
11:29 AM Tom_L: different folder for this project
11:30 AM JT-Shop: the machine status label updates when you press run or stop
11:32 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
11:32 AM Tom_dev: an't run a program when not homed
11:32 AM Tom_L: :)
11:32 AM JT-Shop: I've not done home stuff yet
11:33 AM Tom_L: <- official member of the olephart's club now... filed for ss yesterday
11:33 AM JT-Shop: but you can start an axis sim and home the axes then run emc and both will work
11:33 AM JT-Shop: how old when you start to collect?
11:34 AM Tom_L: 66.5
11:34 AM JT-Shop: IIRC I was 65.5 or something like that
11:35 AM Tom_dev: can't get it to switch from axis to emc6 after homing without restarting emc
11:35 AM JT-Shop: now that I have the basic framework going I just need to add all the controls and status labels and menu items
11:36 AM JT-Shop: start and axis sim and home the axes then while it's still running run emc
11:36 AM JT-Shop: so both are running at the same time
11:37 AM Tom_dev: $ linuxcnc emc6_mill.ini
11:37 AM Tom_dev: LinuxCNC is still running. Restart it? [Y/n]
11:38 AM JT-Shop: download the deb and run ./emc with axis
11:38 AM JT-Shop: I'll have to check the other way
11:38 AM Tom_dev: from what folder?
11:39 AM JT-Shop: where you clone the repo to
11:39 AM JT-Shop: it's in the src directory after you clone
11:39 AM Tom_dev: not emc3?
11:40 AM Tom_dev: all i have is that and the new deb
11:41 AM JT-Shop: emc3 was a test i did to try and figure out the ini read error
11:41 AM Tom_dev: which repo?
11:42 AM Tom_dev: i see more than one
11:42 AM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/emc-pyqt6
11:42 AM JT-Shop: I need to delete the others
11:44 AM Tom_dev: ok it's running the demo
11:44 AM JT-Shop: actually I just tested here and it works fine
11:45 AM JT-Shop: start an axis sim then run emc from a terminal
11:45 AM Tom_dev: i did
11:45 AM Tom_dev: pause doesn't work
11:45 AM JT-Shop: is it running?
11:45 AM JT-Shop: pause works for me
11:45 AM Tom_dev: in axis yes
11:45 AM Tom_dev: not here
11:46 AM JT-Shop: once you home in axis don't change anything there use the gui controls
11:47 AM Tom_dev: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/emc6/emc_test5.png
11:47 AM Tom_dev: i did
11:48 AM Tom_dev: ok i think it's working
11:48 AM JT-Shop: pause and resume works for me
11:48 AM Tom_dev: just lags a little
11:48 AM JT-Shop: I think the current command has to complete but I'm not sure
11:48 AM Tom_dev: pause, resume, stop work
11:49 AM Tom_dev: step doesn't
11:49 AM JT-Shop: pause works without any lag for me
11:49 AM JT-Shop: step works
11:49 AM Tom_dev: i don't think that window was in focus then
11:50 AM Tom_dev: it works ok
11:50 AM JT-Shop: many things don't cause a move when using step
11:50 AM Tom_dev: only one that doesn't respond is step
11:50 AM JT-Shop: step works for me
11:51 AM Tom_dev: yeah it does it just lags quite a bit
11:51 AM JT-Shop: I don't see any lag here at all
11:52 AM Tom_dev: i see why, looking at the display it wasn't done moving :)
11:52 AM JT-Shop: at the start of a file you might have to step several times before anything moves in axis
11:52 AM JT-Shop: well yes you have to be stopped to step :)
11:52 AM Tom_dev: so yes, they all work here
11:52 AM * Tom_dev blames it on his new membership
11:52 AM JT-Shop: awsome
11:53 AM JT-Shop: one thing I've not done is run from line but that's for later
11:53 AM JT-Shop: I think next I'll add current line stat and open file and reload file etx
11:54 AM JT-Shop: nap time here
11:54 AM Tom_dev: when they're both running it's greyed out in the axis display
11:55 AM Tom_dev: so on the power on button it should be red like estop when it's not on
11:55 AM Tom_dev: and maybe change to another color on the rest to indicate which is active
12:38 PM solarwind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XFTmB-OFs4
12:39 PM solarwind: "edge geometry is more important than the steel and the heat treat", I think that is very true
12:42 PM solarwind: also, the word of a PhD in materials engineering is a million times more valuable than some dumbass tradesman or machinist or whatever the douches at "titans of cnc" call themselves
12:47 PM bjorkint0sh: they call themselves, Titans.
12:47 PM CaptHindsight: the "No Necks of CNC"
12:48 PM CaptHindsight: reminds me of the Brawdo ads in Idiocracy
01:03 PM * JT-Shop stokes the fires
01:04 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, yes the button styles need some work
01:17 PM Tom_L: power nap done
01:17 PM JT-Shop: mine too
01:19 PM Tom_L: i would use 'industry standard' colors for those button functions whatever those are
01:22 PM JT-Shop: got a link to that?
01:23 PM JT-Shop: I'm thinking some command buttons and a few menu actions need to be required
01:26 PM Tom_L: https://www.indicatorlight.com/faq/what-color-is-the-led-indicator-light/
01:32 PM JT-Shop: interesting
01:34 PM Tom_L: https://www.iprocessmart.com/techsmart/lightcodes.htm
01:34 PM Tom_L: maybe a better one
01:35 PM CaptHindsight: solarwind: this link https://youtu.be/Qx_Q5M1bTJc?si=bx0rjF9YL1gYpwcS&t=57 was really about the temperature controlled machine vs the monkeys that turn the cranks
01:37 PM Tom_L: you generally only see red, yellow, green sometimes blue and white
01:38 PM Tom_L: coolant pump: red to white for example
01:46 PM JT-Shop: yeah much better one
01:47 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> @Tom_L can you post your usercommand/ axisrc for these changes I see in axis?
01:47 PM Tom_L: what changes?
01:48 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/configs/NEW_MILL_SHOP_2.8.4/
01:48 PM Tom_L: i run 2 configs and they're both in that folder but that part is mostly the same spread across 3 files i think
01:49 PM Tom_L: display.xml, postgui.hal and i forget the 3rd one
01:49 PM Tom_L: maybe just new_mill.hal
01:50 PM Tom_L: if you're talking about the widgets on the right side
01:51 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/screenshots/Current_Linuxcnc_Axis_screen.png
01:51 PM Tom_L: and the Rotary one: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/screenshots/Rotary_Axis_screenshot.png
01:52 PM Tom_L: all the A axis files are suffixed with an _A
02:00 PM JT-Shop: so I've had 3 people with the same last name wanting my tapmatic
02:02 PM Tom_L: still have that ehh? thought you were selling that quite a while back
02:02 PM JT-Shop: yup
02:02 PM Tom_L: maybe it's a family feud
02:02 PM JT-Shop: lol
02:02 PM Tom_L: who can get it first
02:04 PM Tom_L: maybe you can start a bidding war
02:05 PM JT-Shop: I suspect they are scam or scum not sure
02:05 PM Tom_L: might end up like the Hatfields & McCoys
02:06 PM Tom_L: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatfield%E2%80%93McCoy_feud
02:06 PM Tom_L: for the under age here
02:10 PM * Tom_L gives memleak a bucket for the leak
02:10 PM memleak: hey andypugh_ saw you merged that commit, thanks. Hey, so if RTAI linuxcnc debs work now, what was the fix for modules being built in src/src?
02:11 PM memleak: Or is that still broken?
02:11 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, https://safetycents.com/safety-standards/ NFPA 79 - 10.2
02:12 PM memleak: https://sourceforge.net/p/emc/mailman/message/47766293/
02:13 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, had you not 'retired' that looks like a good control reference
02:13 PM memleak: Problem being that when building debian packages, you're in the top level source directory so M should be $(PWD)/src however when you build RIP, you're already in src/ ergo M should be $(PWD)
02:15 PM Tom_L: those look like good guidelines for anybody building or converting a cnc
02:16 PM memleak: https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/andypugh/2.9-rtai/src/Makefile line 549
02:16 PM memleak: https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/andypugh/2.9-rtai/src/Makefile#L549
02:17 PM memleak: this is completely unrelated to the halcompile component btw
02:19 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, I'm not 'retired' just out of work at the moment lol
02:19 PM memleak: If you have M=$(PWD)/src btw and you're inside src then you get an error because it's trying to build the linuxcnc kernel modules in src/src which doesn't exist
02:20 PM Roguish: Jt take advantage of the time....
02:20 PM Roguish: relax
02:20 PM Roguish: eat, drink and nap
02:20 PM Tom_L: meh, do that when you're in a box
02:20 PM JT-Shop: I'm not telling anyone that I'm out of work lol
02:20 PM Tom_L: the whole world knows now!
02:21 PM JT-Shop: lol
02:21 PM Tom_L: i pretty much do those 3 things anyway
02:22 PM JT-Shop: I have so much crap piled on top of the kiln and I've decided to remove the old powder coat (pia) and coat it again
02:24 PM Tom_L: how do you go about removing it?
02:24 PM Tom_L: do you heat it first?
02:28 PM Tom_L: sand blast it?
02:34 PM JT-Shop: burn it then blast it
02:40 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> @Tom_L your preview is black on white instead of reverse
02:46 PM JT-Shop: hmm suction hose seems plugged up... what a fun job to take it off and check it
02:49 PM Tom_L: big_kevin420, i guess i don't know what you're asking
02:49 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, just blast it with ~100psi air
02:50 PM JT-Shop: well if there is some crap in there like bits of metal it's best to just clean it out
02:50 PM Tom_L: someone borrowed my shop vac the other day in the drive to clean out their car. tried to use it and it was full of bottle caps & wadded up paper etc
02:50 PM Tom_L: pissed me off for sure
02:50 PM JT-Shop: I've had to empty the hopper out before and sift all the shavings out
02:51 PM JT-Shop: can you tell what bottle caps were?
02:51 PM Tom_L: no
02:51 PM Tom_L: some cheap plastic things
02:51 PM Tom_L: screw on lids
02:52 PM JT-Shop: start checking the trucks for more till you find out which one
02:52 PM Tom_L: oh, how _do_ you reverse the preview color in axis?
02:52 PM Tom_L: mine has always been black background
02:52 PM JT-Shop: no clue
02:52 PM Tom_L: there's that . file in the user dir you can edit a few things
02:53 PM JT-Shop: same here a black background in axis
02:53 PM JT-Shop: .axisrc
02:53 PM Tom_L: now i gotta look.. right
02:53 PM JT-Shop: there's a section in the docs about it
02:53 PM Tom_L: didn't you have a page for that on your site?
02:54 PM JT-Shop: I might had a few things but Phil added a bunch to the docs
02:55 PM Tom_L: big_kevin420, http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/gui/axis.html#_change_the_dro_color
02:56 PM Tom_L: a few tricks there you can add/remove
02:58 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # set preview colors
03:00 PM Tom_dev: #try:
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # live_plotter.logger.set_colors((255,0,0,255),
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # (0,255,0,255),
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # (0,0,255,255),
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # (255,255,0,255),
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # (255,255,255,255),
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # (0,255,255,255))
03:00 PM Tom_dev: #except Exception as e:
03:00 PM Tom_dev: # print (e)
03:00 PM Tom_dev: a snip from mine but i'm not using those atm
03:00 PM Tom_dev: the file is .axisrc in the user dir
03:01 PM Tom_L: it's not in the 2.9 docs so that may not work
03:02 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/gui/axis.html#_axis_customization_hints
03:02 PM JT-Shop: sure it is
03:03 PM Tom_L: for color changes?
03:03 PM Tom_L: DRO color but i don't see one for preview
03:03 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/gui/axis.html#_change_the_dro_color
03:04 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure where i got that i posted above. maybe from you?
03:05 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/gui/axis.html#_change_plotter_colors
03:05 PM Tom_L: for some reason i didn't use it
03:05 PM Tom_L: well there you go
03:05 PM JT-Shop: comes right out of the docs
03:06 PM Tom_L: mine should be default though since that is commented out in my file
03:06 PM Tom_dev: an additional note in my file:
03:06 PM Tom_dev: # To change the live plotter colors in Axis you have to copy the contents of the file:
03:06 PM Tom_dev: # /usr/share/doc/linuxcnc/axis_light_background
03:06 PM Tom_dev: # into the file
03:06 PM Tom_dev: # ~user/.Xresources
03:07 PM Tom_dev: that may be for an older lcnc version too
03:07 PM Tom_dev: anyway, go forth and color a rainbow
03:10 PM Tom_L: a quick look at those files and they appear to be the same already
03:12 PM Tom_L: hah, the sim on the test pc _is_ a white background
03:12 PM Tom_L: never even paid attention to that
03:13 PM JT-Shop: I don't think it's clogged I think I need some more media
03:13 PM JT-Shop: I should just clean it out and get a couple of bags of new media
03:15 PM Tom_L: now i gotta check the rpi sim to see what background it is
03:16 PM Tom_L: hah it's a black background
03:17 PM Tom_L: and 2.9.1
03:31 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, any ideas on this: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/emc6/axisrc_error.png
03:32 PM Tom_dev: mmm irc pc just took a dump
03:32 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:36 PM Tom_dev: ok all indention errors
03:37 PM Tom_dev: friggin python
03:37 PM andypugh_: memleak: I can’t actually remember. I went through so many iterations, over what felt like months.
03:37 PM JT-Shop: Tom_dev, that's why I never use spaces in python for indentation
03:39 PM XXCoder: such a strange wood tool https://youtu.be/x66xynjmk9o
03:39 PM Tom_dev: i changed the numbers in that set_colors and nothing changed
03:39 PM Tom_dev: maybe that's why i never used it
03:39 PM XXCoder: ski[ to 31 min if just want see tool running
03:40 PM andypugh_: XXCoder: Just finished watching it. I suspect that the twsit drill is not the correct tool.
03:41 PM JT-Shop: I agree
03:41 PM XXCoder: its weirdly custom to it so dunno, maybe though. what do you think would be orginal?
03:42 PM andypugh_: Something more router-y. The drill seemed to have some features on the shank that don’t exactly look necessary, so I was thinking were left over from the drill that it was macjined out ot.
03:42 PM Tom_dev: what i can't figure out though is why this install has a white background and the one on the rpi is black
03:43 PM JT-Shop: hmm a mortise tool for door locks
03:43 PM Tom_dev: both are 2.9.1
03:43 PM Tom_dev: router jig for door locks
03:44 PM Tom_dev: oh i didn't click..
03:45 PM Tom_itx: isn't that just cuter than a gnat's tit
03:45 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
03:46 PM Tom_L: the things they invented back when to solve problems is amazing
03:46 PM roycroft: that machine is a manual festool domino
03:47 PM andypugh_: Well, they mainly invented them hoping that enough people would think it looked cool to make them rich.
03:47 PM roycroft: the interesting thing about it is that although it's manually-operated, the z movement is gear-driven
03:48 PM roycroft: with the domino the z is adjusted by pushing on the tool
03:48 PM roycroft: so in that respect it's superior to the domino
03:50 PM roycroft: the arc movement to adjust x is the same as the domino, albeit using a different mechanism
03:58 PM Tom_dev: andypugh_, do you know what affects the plotter background etc colors?
03:58 PM Tom_dev: nothing i've tried seems to have any effect
04:01 PM andypugh_: Tom_dev: Sorry, no idea.
04:04 PM Tom_dev: somebody was asking here
04:06 PM Tom_dev: in /usr/share/doc/linuxcnc there is a file called axis_light_background on this pc though
04:06 PM Tom_dev: but i renamed it and that didn't seem to matter
04:23 PM Tom_L: big_kevin420, if you figure it out let me know because i can't seem to
04:46 PM memleak: andypugh_, but it's all working now? :)
04:47 PM andypugh_: Well, it’s building debs at least.
04:47 PM memleak: awesome!
04:50 PM memleak: excellent work, now let's never remove rtai again from the debian scripts lol
04:51 PM andypugh_: Someone who understands the debian system and makefiles needs to merge andypugh/2.0-rtai into 2.9. At the moment there is a fair bit of stuff that I only did to make it work, not knowing if it is right.
04:54 PM memleak: I'll go through it too and see if anything stands out
04:54 PM Roguish: andypugh_ thanks for the 2.9.1 release...cool.
04:56 PM andypugh_: memleak: Maybe try a diff with 2.9.1 and see what looks right and what wrong?
06:13 PM JT-Shop: tapmatic seems to be gone
06:13 PM andypugh_: ?
06:24 PM Tom_L: new zipcode?
06:25 PM Tom_L: i slowed the MAX_ACCELERATION down a bit on all the axis and that seemed to help on dry runs
06:26 PM Tom_L: i'd sure like to figure out the plot color settings now that it's been brought up again
06:27 PM Tom_L: 2.9.1 install on bookworm is white background and 2.9.1 on rpi4 is black background as well as on my mill
06:28 PM JT-Shop: yep he was legit and the tapmatic has a new zipcode
06:29 PM Tom_L: cool
06:29 PM JT-Shop: time to call it a day
06:29 PM Tom_L: maybe i found a key
06:30 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
06:30 PM Tom_dev: then you have to merge it using:
06:30 PM Tom_dev: xrdb -merge .Xresources
06:33 PM Tom_dev: big_kevin420, https://www.forum.linuxcnc.org/21-axis/16426-changing-the-opengl-colors-in-the-axis-gui?start=30
06:33 PM Tom_dev: dated 2012 but probably hasn't changed
06:43 PM Tom_L: yay i solved it!
06:45 PM memleak: my guess with why modules work now is because you're using build-stamp instead of override_dh_auto_configure / override_dh_auto_build-arch
06:46 PM andypugh_: Pass, it’s all a bit of a mystery to me.
06:50 PM memleak: commit: "2.9 with 2.8 debian directory test"
06:50 PM memleak: lol
06:50 PM memleak: holy hell though you did a lot to get this going
06:53 PM Tom_L: now if .Xresources file isn't present where does axis get it's default colors from?
06:54 PM andypugh_: Time to sleep here.
06:54 PM Tom_L: later
06:54 PM memleak: night!
06:55 PM Tom_L: anybody happen to know what source dir has the axis code?
06:55 PM Tom_L: in master
06:55 PM andypugh_: Haven’t quite gone yet - src/emc/userin_intf/axis/
06:56 PM Tom_L: thanks andy
06:56 PM memleak: Tom_L, still working on your rainbow? :)
06:56 PM Tom_L: not mine
06:57 PM Tom_L: i figured out the color change but would like to know where the defaults are kept if there isn't a file
07:22 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:22 PM Tom_dev: big_kevin420, http://paste.debian.net/1299322/
07:23 PM Tom_dev: copy that to a file: .Xresources in the ~user/ folder
07:23 PM Tom_dev: then run xrdb -merge .Xresources
07:23 PM Tom_dev: that will give you a black background
07:24 PM Tom_dev: you can fiddle with the colors in the file but run the xrdb command after doing so
07:34 PM snakedGT is now known as snaked
07:55 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:59 PM Tom_dev: big_kevin420, if you're really feeling ambitious you can put this in the .axisrc file and play with tool colors: http://paste.debian.net/1299327/
08:02 PM Tom_L: play at your own risk :)
08:03 PM XXCoder: frank made really nice table
08:04 PM XXCoder: he could have bought a cheap folding job, but I guess its nice excuse for new content
08:15 PM Tom_L: what would cause the watchdog to bite?
08:17 PM memleak: like timeout?
08:17 PM memleak: or trip?
08:17 PM Tom_L: i got a message one time the watchdog bit but it kept going
08:18 PM Tom_L: i've never seen that
08:19 PM memleak: i usually leave all the watchdog drivers out of the kernel lol
08:20 PM memleak: maybe your timeout is disabled
08:21 PM Tom_L: it might be
08:21 PM memleak: i think it's usually 60 seconds not sure
08:21 PM Tom_L: there used to be an ini setting for it
08:21 PM Tom_L: but some update removed it from mine
08:26 PM Tom_L: i think it may be a hostmot2 driver thing
08:26 PM memleak: no idea, idk much about watchdogs, try to avoid them as much as possible.
08:27 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/drivers/hostmot2.html#_watchdog
08:27 PM memleak: they also cause problems like conflicting resources. watchdog and i2c driver compete for same IRQ for example
08:28 PM memleak: oh i didnt know linuxcnc came with it's own watchdogs.. i thought you were talking like TCO watchdog
08:28 PM Tom_L: nope
08:29 PM Tom_L: you're an os guy :)
08:29 PM memleak: lol yeah
08:39 PM Tom_L: guess i'll wait and see if i get it again before i make changes
09:45 PM solarwind: JT-Shop let me know when your rooster squawks in the morning. I'm dying with suspense and I'll be up early.
09:45 PM solarwind: or JT-Cave your twin brother
09:46 PM solarwind: memleak steam sales
09:46 PM solarwind: memleak I'm going to buy the ones you mentioned, don't miss out
09:46 PM solarwind: memleak huge discounts
09:47 PM solarwind: memleak like 50% off
09:47 PM * roycroft is debating buying infinity designer today
09:47 PM roycroft: it's 40% off through tomorrow
09:47 PM roycroft: er, affinity designer
09:47 PM solarwind: you mean affinity designer?
09:48 PM roycroft: see above :)
09:48 PM solarwind: Yeah I know, it was like 1 second apart
09:48 PM roycroft: it exports stl that the shaper origin likes, and that 3d slicers like
09:48 PM solarwind: I was looking at that too because adobe has become a disease on this planet with their subscription model.
09:48 PM roycroft: and it has a pretty unique feature - it combines vector and raster graphics tools in one app
09:48 PM memleak: I can't afford games rn sorry man!
09:49 PM roycroft: no more switching back and forth between illustrator and photoshop
09:49 PM roycroft: but the adobe stuff is all print and web oriented
09:49 PM roycroft: and doesn't export well in formats that manufacturing machines like
09:50 PM roycroft: i've been looking at affinity designer for a long time because of the good stl exports it does (or so folks say)
09:50 PM solarwind: memleak tell me what you want, I'll get it for you
09:50 PM roycroft: i also like that it's not rental ware
09:50 PM roycroft: or cloud based
09:59 PM roycroft: they're selling a bundle of affinity designer, affinity photo, and affinity publisher for $98, and the license is good on macos, windows, and ios
10:01 PM roycroft: vs $21/month to rent illustrator
10:01 PM * roycroft is on cs6, the last version of the abobe suite that was not rentalware
10:01 PM CaptHindsight: how much do cracked version rent for?
10:02 PM CaptHindsight: are they all rentals now?
10:02 PM roycroft: i don't know how warez lincensing works
10:03 PM roycroft: but i should think that if you're gonna crack it you're gonna make it not call home
10:03 PM roycroft: and if it doesn't call home it's hard to stay rentalware
10:03 PM CaptHindsight: do you need a live connection to run it?
10:03 PM roycroft: the adobe stuff?
10:04 PM CaptHindsight: yeah, what happens if I'm on the bus and I need to create a presentation?
10:04 PM roycroft: i assume it needs to call home periodically
10:04 PM roycroft: as i said, i'm on cs6, the last version that is not rentalware
10:04 PM CaptHindsight: Individual subscribers must have an Internet connection[44] to download the software and to use the 2 GB of provided storage space (or the additionally purchased 20 GB[45]), and must validate the license monthly.[46]
10:04 PM roycroft: the cs6 apps need to go online to activate, but once activated it does not need to call home again
10:07 PM solarwind: I pirate
10:07 PM roycroft: i'm trying to determine if the $98 affinity designer license lets me install on all my computers
10:07 PM solarwind: and the version you pirate works forever
