04:45 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:18 AM travis_farmer: 45F/77F
06:09 AM travis_farmer: anybody heard from "Unreal", or however he does his nickname? i think he is from Florida...
06:09 AM JT-Cave: 56°F - 83°F
06:11 AM JT-Cave: going to attempt to create a members only wordpress site again...
06:12 AM travis_farmer: members only?
06:13 AM mrec: https://streamable.com/w8qbrw finally the second nozzle is activated next will be 4 nozzles :-)
06:13 AM mrec: placing 0402
06:15 AM JT-Cave: yes some of the site is for members only as it has contact info for member etc
06:16 AM travis_farmer: i have a forum that could be members only, that is under-used, and would be great for somewhat low-volume communication... software and domain is already paid for for another year...
06:16 AM travis_farmer: oh i see
06:16 AM Scopeuk: initially though the machine vision lighting was a molten/red hot metal component
06:16 AM Scopeuk: pick and place makes much mroe sense
06:16 AM JT-Cave: https://www.corvettesofsoutheastmissouri.com/
06:16 AM JT-Cave: travis_farmer, that's the site I want to rework
06:17 AM travis_farmer: ahh, i see now
06:17 AM Scopeuk: that is a remarkably specific url flashbacks to http://nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/
06:18 AM JT-Cave: I shipped a package to Canada on July 13 and it didn't move for several weeks
06:18 AM travis_farmer: i discovered an unintended part of running an unofficial mirror of LinuxCNC code... i apparently have access to all the contributers email addresses :-S
06:18 AM Scopeuk: its fairly normal for git commits to have a public email address associated with them
06:20 AM JT-Cave: it bounced around Il for a few weeks then sat in chicago for 5 weeks before finally moving on to ca
06:20 AM travis_farmer: UPS?
06:25 AM JT-Cave: usps
06:25 AM JT-Cave: any international packages go by global express or something like that
06:26 AM travis_farmer: oh, true... international...
06:28 AM JT-Cave: rooster just crowed
06:30 AM travis_farmer: Hmmm, just got labs back from my Dr. i have Stage-3 Chronic Kidney Disease, so my Creatinine levels run high. previous was 1.59 mg/dl, and this last lab was 1.72 mg/dl. that's not very good...
06:42 AM rigid_: asciidoc is a missing build dependency. it seems it's needed to compile linuxcnc
06:43 AM rigid_: "docs/src/man/man1/halstreamer.1.adoc" seems to need it for generating the man page
06:43 AM travis_farmer: "debian/configure no-docs"
06:52 AM rigid_: travis_farmer: ah, thanks
06:52 AM rigid_: although I didn't want to create .debs
06:53 AM travis_farmer: oh....
06:53 AM rigid_: i'll try to find out how it disables docs
07:03 AM rigid_: hm, theoretically "make build-software" should not build the docs whil "make docs" should. But the man-pages are built anyway :(
07:04 AM Tom_itx: JT-Cave, i've had packages to Ca in 2 weeks or 2 months
07:06 AM JT-Cave: I've have this happen before too
07:13 AM rigid_: travis_farmer: looks like "Making halcompile manpage ..." is still called with debian/configure no-docs
07:14 AM rigid_: those don't even fail without asciidoc but for halstreamer it does
07:28 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
12:31 PM travis_farmer: changed my plans with my ATC method... was going with a carousel, until i realized i could be developing it for years, while a linear tool rack can be used almost as soon as i have access all around my machine in order to build it. be a lot cheaper too...
12:34 PM travis_farmer: and my plans for my Tax return is, if enough, to buy the Vectric Vcarve Pro, so i can get used to it, and start making small stuff with it. as i gain funds from making stuff, i hope to finish my new shop.
12:36 PM Tom_L: if you ever get it
12:36 PM travis_farmer: yup
12:37 PM travis_farmer: i am selling my 5th wheel camper project too, for around $1800, so that should give some to go to the shop too
12:43 PM roycroft: my state just announced that next year's kicker checks will be the biggest ever, by far
12:43 PM travis_farmer: kicker?
12:43 PM roycroft: we have this odd tax mechanism, where the state budget is based on the state economist's estimation of incoming tax revenue
12:44 PM roycroft: we passsed a law in 1979 so that whenever revenue exceeds projections, the taxpayers get a "kicker" rebate check
12:44 PM roycroft: from what i read yesterday, i may get about $4k back early next year
12:44 PM travis_farmer: cool... clean out your spare bedroom, i am moving there ;-)
12:45 PM roycroft: it's mostly cool
12:45 PM roycroft: i wish we would modify it somewhat so that the state can establish a "rainy day" fund for years when revenue is low
12:45 PM roycroft: but only with a small amount of the kicker fund
12:45 PM roycroft: i still want most of it back in my pocket
12:46 PM travis_farmer: my state has no kicker, but a fair amount of rainy-day fund... only money we ever got other than a state tax refund, is covid checks
12:48 PM travis_farmer: instead, we get a big flag pole... :-( https://wgme.com/news/local/plan-for-worlds-tallest-flagpole-hits-snag-in-maine-columbia-falls-for-profit-moratorium-large-scale-development-empire-state-building-flagpole-at-freedom-park-wreaths-across-america
12:49 PM roycroft: i just think it's irresponsible for government to live year-to-year, just as it's undesirable for citizens to live paycheck-to-paycheck
12:49 PM travis_farmer: i agree
12:50 PM roycroft: but i still want my kicker check :)
12:51 PM Tom_L: everybody _want's_ one
12:51 PM Tom_L: - '
12:51 PM travis_farmer: my last state tax refund was a whole $400...
12:52 PM Tom_L: as long as i don't owe at year end i'm happy
12:52 PM travis_farmer: i hope i don't owe this year :-(
12:53 PM roycroft: i cleaned out most of my cnc router fund when i bought the shaper origin, and a couple other things
12:53 PM travis_farmer: :-O
12:53 PM roycroft: i have enough left in that fund for my vcarve pro license, which i'll be getting soon
12:53 PM roycroft: the kicker check should replenish that fund nicely, though
12:54 PM roycroft: keeping in mind that i already have the controller, stepper motors/drives, and most of the z axis for the cnc router
12:54 PM roycroft: $4k should cover the rest of what i need
12:54 PM travis_farmer: my machine only cost $600 from craigs list
12:55 PM roycroft: my cunning plan all along was to spend the money now on something i could use now, and trust that something would come along to replenish the account
12:55 PM roycroft: and it looks like that's going to happen
12:58 PM travis_farmer: yep, bought my machine around 2017, according to CNCzone.com
12:59 PM travis_farmer: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/diy-cnc-router-table-machines/336562-cnc-forum.html
04:48 PM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
09:15 PM solarwind: UGH
09:15 PM solarwind: The tip snapped off on my bottle of loctite
09:15 PM solarwind: The screw cap locked itself and snapped the whole tip off when I tried to unscrew
09:16 PM solarwind: if I transfer the contents into a syringe, is it going to dry up or be ok?
09:16 PM solarwind: hopefully the rubber plunger doesn't dissolve
09:44 PM roycroft: loctite cures anaerobically, but polymerizes in the presence of metals
09:45 PM roycroft: if you have a completely non-metallic syringe you may be able to store it in that
09:45 PM roycroft: but if it has a metal needle you will probably lose
11:49 PM XXCoder: https://youtu.be/ZDnyB_RSKe0
11:50 PM XXCoder: pretty cool. bicycle handles with 3d printing, and some leather work
