01:39 AM Deejay: moin
01:50 AM randy: morning
02:24 AM travis_farmer: Morning :-)
04:25 AM Tom_L: morning
04:43 AM JT-Cave: morning
06:17 AM JT-Cave: rooster just crowed
07:20 AM Tom_L: 66°F
07:22 AM Tom_L: hi 92°F
07:29 AM travis_farmer: 66F/70F 91%rh
07:31 AM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
07:32 AM Unterhausen: I wish I hadn't looked at the humidity
07:33 AM travis_farmer: mine or yours?
07:35 AM JT-Cave: 60°F humidity is always high here in the morning
07:46 AM travis_farmer: my huge mistake, is out for delivery...
09:51 AM bjorkint0sh: https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/share-keyboardmouse-between-multiple-computers-x2x
09:51 AM bjorkint0sh: I can't believe I banged my head against synergy for so long when this has always been available.
10:55 AM JT-Shop: nap time
11:05 AM CaptHindsight: when building a new CNC do you use what you have for a display, or what size and resolution displays do you buy?
11:06 AM CloudEvil: As a general notion, avoid last generation connector displays even if they are cheap perhaps.
11:12 AM JT-Cave: nap time
11:12 AM CaptHindsight: yeah these were latest gen stuff when purchased
11:13 AM CaptHindsight: probably when the customer paid the first 30-40% and then didn't finish the contract
11:14 AM CaptHindsight: https://i.imgur.com/xomcQTc.jpg or what to do with 4:3 display enclosures?
12:14 PM jpa-: CaptHindsight: i use what i have, but anything less than full hd resolution is really too little
12:37 PM solarwind: CaptHindsight can you build me one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2b_69Gpmic please and thank you!
12:39 PM solarwind: Come over and grab one of my forklifts and swap out the wheels
12:42 PM solarwind: Hardest part will be reworking the drivetrain. Need a PMSM on each wheel. Not too expensive for the motors. Might be able to use hydraulic motors as well, but then you'd need expensive (overpriced) servo valves
12:43 PM bjorkint0sh: solarwind, that looks like a lot of rubbing. how long do they last for?
12:43 PM solarwind: The mecanum wheel also has a much lower contact patch and puts a lot of pressure on the floor
12:43 PM solarwind: bjorkint0sh there's no rubbing, it's a mecanum wheel
12:44 PM CaptHindsight: solarwind: which of your forklifts do you want to modify?
12:46 PM solarwind: CaptHindsight the standard clark electric one would be a great fit
12:46 PM solarwind: It's a Clark EC500
12:47 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.liftstoday.com/listing/auction-results/213636525/1985-clark-ec500-30-cushion-tire-forklifts
12:47 PM solarwind: Looks like there are a lot of variants.
12:47 PM solarwind: Mine is a lot less ugly than that one
12:47 PM CaptHindsight: small project
12:47 PM CaptHindsight: i have to renew my PP
12:57 PM solarwind: I also have a nice Raymond reach truck, but I hate the way they implemented the hydraulics
12:58 PM solarwind: They vary flow rate by varying pump RPM which has lower and upper limits
12:58 PM solarwind: And they use cheap on/off solenoid valves. So unlike the regular manual proportional flow valves, you can't gently ramp up the flow
01:00 PM solarwind: So all hydraulics operations are jerky when they start/stop because of the on/off solenoid valves. It's otherwise my favourite one. The maneuverability is amazing
01:00 PM solarwind: I want to modify it with proper servo valves but I'm guessing just one servo valve costs more than what I paid for the entire forklift
01:02 PM solarwind: Could maybe work around it by adding a single flow control valve on the pump output and design a "soft start" circuit
01:14 PM robotustra: not sure that omnidirectional wheels so durable, also they are quite noisy with conventional drive
01:14 PM CaptHindsight: yeah I hate jerky movements in forklifts
01:14 PM CaptHindsight: you don't want that when finessing something expensive in a tight space
01:15 PM robotustra: who keep something expensive in tight space?
01:15 PM robotustra: :)
01:16 PM robotustra: expensive things should not be piled in a tight space
01:20 PM CaptHindsight: nuclear wessles
01:50 PM CaptHindsight: solarwind: I'm pretty sure Canadian Tire has most all the parts and you can look for bargains on Kijiji
01:51 PM solarwind: robotustra I do
01:52 PM solarwind: CaptHindsight Canadian Tire is absolute trash. Princess Auto is way better
01:52 PM solarwind: But neither have servo valves
01:52 PM solarwind: Princess auto has solenoid binary valves only
01:53 PM solarwind: I wouldn't even mind electronic proportional control valves (without servo/feedback). They should be a lot less expensive
01:53 PM CaptHindsight: ah forget which is which
01:53 PM CaptHindsight: the stores

04:24 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, my OCDness thanks you
05:28 PM robotustra: I looked at latency histogram and decided to replace HDD with SDD to see if there will be any improvement
05:29 PM robotustra: could it affect the latency much? not sure
05:29 PM robotustra: reinstalling deb
05:33 PM JT-Shop: not usually
05:35 PM robotustra: anyway ssd will boot faster
05:36 PM JT-Shop: yup
05:53 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, did you fix anything i should test?
05:54 PM JT-Shop: I fixed some checks
05:55 PM Tom_L: oh..
05:56 PM Tom_L: why is the Feedback on the spindle encoder greyed out?
05:56 PM Tom_L: did i forget to check something off?
05:57 PM JT-Shop: if PWM is selected feedback is enabled
05:57 PM Tom_L: but it's not
05:57 PM Tom_L: and i have PWM selected
05:57 PM Tom_L: opening an exhisting config
05:57 PM Tom_L: woops got an error just now too
05:57 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:59 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact2/mesact2_error1.png
05:59 PM Tom_L: that should be with today's pull
05:59 PM JT-Shop: hmm buildss.py has been deleted
06:02 PM Tom_L: yeah, local repo is up to date
06:03 PM Tom_L: even on a new config, feedback is greyed out with PWM selected
06:05 PM JT-Shop: that error is not current as buildss.py is no longer there
06:05 PM Tom_L: i can enter the scale but it doesn't get saved
06:05 PM JT-Shop: nor does buildconfig.py call buildss.py
06:06 PM Tom_L: reinstalling to be sure it's the latest code
06:07 PM JT-Shop: I do see an issue with feedback not having encoder as a choice
06:07 PM Tom_L: i forgot what i did now to get that error :/
06:08 PM Tom_L: all i did was add a scale number to the encoder and rebuild
06:08 PM JT-Shop: pretty impossible to get that buildss error as it's not even there anymore
06:09 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact2/mesact_error2.png
06:09 PM Tom_L: that's what i got
06:10 PM JT-Shop: yup that's a proper error and I know what it is .text should be .currentData
06:10 PM Tom_L: yeah that other one had an old build date... ignore it
06:10 PM JT-Shop: I already have :)
06:10 PM Tom_L: hah
06:11 PM JT-Shop: it's nice when we go to a place and they know what wine to bring out without even asking
06:11 PM Tom_L: hope you never change your mind
06:11 PM JT-Shop: prob not
06:11 PM XXCoder: looks like smokey hellscope season begins monday here
06:12 PM JT-Shop: time to relax... even after two naps today I'm ready to kick back
06:12 PM Tom_L: why don't i see buildss.py?
06:15 PM JT-Shop: I deleted it and moved that code into buildio.py
06:15 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna clone a fresh copy
06:15 PM JT-Shop: that way both have access to the same dictionary
06:16 PM JT-Shop: remember the issue with ss and the input not found?
06:16 PM Tom_L: yeah
06:16 PM JT-Shop: I fixed that by moving the buildss to buildio.py
06:17 PM JT-Shop: now if I add something I only have to do it in one place
06:18 PM JT-Shop: see you in the am
06:18 PM Tom_L: later
06:19 PM Tom_L: i get another error on check config too
06:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact2/mesact_error3.png
06:21 PM Tom_L: probably the same reason
07:10 PM skunkworks: 6th or so time I have thrown a HDD into the freezer and was able to get all the data off of it..
07:17 PM Tom_L: are you testing your luck?
07:18 PM skunkworks: I am not... Other people are..
07:18 PM skunkworks: This was spinning rust external 2tb drive
07:18 PM skunkworks: seagate
08:02 PM JT-Cave: Tom_L, yep same issue
08:03 PM Tom_L: k
