12:07 AM CaptHindsight[m]: it just turned tomorrow here a few minutes ago
12:18 AM XXCoder: almost 2 hours to go here
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: ah you're still in yesterday
12:18 AM XXCoder: hows hours in future going
12:18 AM travis_farmer: kinda dark...
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: slight smoke
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: not as orange as the east cost
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: travis_farmer: how orange were you earlier?
12:18 AM XXCoder: only 20-30 aqi here. smokey season havent started here yet
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: NYC looked like Beijing yesterdy
12:18 AM travis_farmer: me personally? or the sky? didn't catch the sky...
12:18 AM CaptHindsight[m]: https://abc7ny.com/nyc-smoke-air-quality-alert-nj-canada-wildfire/13355066/
12:21 AM * travis_farmer853 uploaded an image: (970KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/puZgLPrLKJeBwczMudAksuJT/wild_fire_radar.png >
12:21 AM travis_farmer853: turned on wildfire detection, and the country lit up like a Christmas tree!
12:24 AM travis_farmer: "c-log (~c-log@ip24-255-195-170.ks.ks.cox.net) has joined" dang, we are back on record... ;-)
12:41 AM mits5782[m]: Ughhhhhh my machine spindle is a yoyo
01:15 AM mits5782[m]: If my spindle encoder feedback is always positive but I'm using a PWM output with a DIR pin for direction output... how do I make the direction value invert when reversing?
01:17 AM mits5782[m]: maybe the easy answer is that I should tie my pwm dir pin to my encoder dir pin
01:33 AM mits5782[m]: Okay, I'm struggling to find whether a spindle direction is defined by looking down on it, or looking up at it from the workpiece
01:54 AM jpa-: positive spindle direction is the direction where your typical endmills and drills will cut :)
01:54 AM jpa-: i.e. clockwise looking from above
01:59 AM mits5782[m]: ok, so you do clockwise looking down
01:59 AM mits5782[m]: in an overhead milling situation
02:00 AM mits5782[m]: forward made sense, but some things refer to a clockwise and I wasn't sure
02:00 AM mits5782[m]: thank you
02:12 AM mits5782[m]: My spindle doesn't work properly (detects stall and stops) if the control is set too close to zero... but there is no minoutput on a pid loop, which is what I'm using to try and target a speed
02:12 AM mits5782[m]: I'm thinking of putting deadband in between, is that a good choice? is there anyone thinks would be better?
02:14 AM mits5782[m]: maybe lincurve?
02:30 AM Deejay: moin
02:45 AM mits5782[m]: :moin:
02:48 AM mits5782[m]: well now I'm lost... dang
02:59 AM mits5782[m]: I need a gate in hal that prevents values from -1500 to +1500 from being output
03:00 AM mits5782[m]: deadzone with center at 0 and threshold at 3000 takes 1600 and outputs 100
03:06 AM mits5782[m]: I guess the only thing I can see doing this is lincurve, bleh
03:09 AM mits5782[m]: no wait... no it can't
03:09 AM mits5782[m]: I can kinda approximate it, but not really
04:47 AM Tom_L: morning
04:53 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:54 AM travis_farmer: Morning :-)
05:02 AM Strange|Nils[m] is now known as strange_nils0[m]
05:38 AM JT-Cave: rooster just crowed
06:03 AM travis_farmer: JT, did a Mesa box show up last night? not trying to rush, just curious. :-)
06:10 AM JT-Cave: no
06:10 AM travis_farmer: ok, maybe today. :-)
06:14 AM JT-Cave: I really didn't expect it yesterday, just screwy notifications lol
06:14 AM JT-Cave: I do expect it to arrive today
06:15 AM travis_farmer: :-)
06:18 AM JT-Cave: what are you using that card for?
06:20 AM travis_farmer: going back to analog spindle control, and PWM via an 0-10V --> PWM adaptor board for a diode laser
06:20 AM JT-Cave: cool
06:21 AM travis_farmer: yeah, the modbus spindle control is just too unstable
06:26 AM travis_farmer: really excited to get the laser mounted and working, since i downloaded lightburn. going to mount it beside the spindle, and have a lens cap while it is not in use (for dust). i still have to figure out mounting my touch probe so i can touch-off and move to an offset for laser focusing
06:55 AM Centurion_Dan1 is now known as Centurion_Dan
07:00 AM Unterhaus_: I used paypal to pay for something, so paypal supplied the proper spelling of my name. But the package is addressed to "Erik" instead of "Eric"
07:01 AM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
07:01 AM JT-Cave: looks like Erik will get your package...
07:37 AM Centurion_Dan1 is now known as Centurion_Dan
07:40 AM smgvbest[m] is now known as smgvbest0[m]
07:45 AM Unterhausen: That Erik guy chose his parents unwisely and should change his name to the proper spelling
08:22 AM travis_farmer: just received a box from MesaUS (7i72) :-) packed very well, as always! Thank you!
08:41 AM perry_j1987: bit cold in the shop this mornin
08:44 AM mits5782[m]: any of you folks ever use the auto tuning mode on PID?
08:44 AM mits5782[m]: I'm curious, does it automatically generate inputs?
08:44 AM mits5782[m]: or is it like, live auto tuning
08:54 AM perry_j1987: i think T-Pain used auto tuning quite a lot or atleast was famous for it somewhat lol
09:00 AM mits5782[m]: har har
09:01 AM perry_j1987: *grabs coffee mug and nods while saying "I do what I can"
09:05 AM mits5782[m]: I wonder if I can just trust linuxcnc to do the right thing with this spindle deadzone problem
09:10 AM mits5782[m]: AUGH pid auto tuning wants to be able to test negative command values
09:10 AM ZincBoy[CAON][m]: Linuxcnc will do exactly what you tell it to. Trust shouldn't enter into it 🙂
09:11 AM ZincBoy[CAON][m]: Usually done by clamping the PID output. The PID is just a control loop.
09:13 AM mits5782[m]: Okay ZincBoy, I'm actually uh... miserably stuck on this
10:23 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
11:35 AM JT-Cave: olivierbeaupuy[m, sorry but support for the 7i80 is very limited in MesaCT
11:36 AM JT-Cave: to select firmware you have to download it first
11:36 AM JT-Cave: to select a daughter card you have to pick firmware
11:36 AM JT-Cave: sorry but it's not ideal so that's the reason I'm writing from scratch a new tool
11:39 AM firephoto__ is now known as firephoto_
11:42 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: What i need download for sélect firmware ?
11:42 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: The firmware it’s in my 7i80db25
11:42 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: For 2/7i77 and 2/7i74
11:42 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: I have flash this firmware with tools mesa at a long time ago
11:44 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: You think i need change my 7i80db-25 for one other card ?
11:54 AM Unterhausen: you can just use mesaflash
12:06 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: <Unterhausen> "you can just use mesaflash" <- Yes i have flash my card and this it’s ok
12:06 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: But after in linux cnc i don’t can create my configuration with my list of cards
12:07 PM Unterhausen: is there another similar card you could use in the mesact?
12:22 PM pcw-home: What daughterboard(s) are you using?
12:23 PM pcw-home: If just a 7I77, just tell pncconf/mesact you are using a 7I92+7I77, make your configuration and then change the card name in the hal or ini file
12:30 PM * olivierbeaupuy[m uploaded an image: (93KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/phbQRCpPUDVGdsOIsIQWIRNB/ima_69f7e96.jpeg >
12:30 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: >If just a 7I77, just tell pncconf/mesact you are using a 7I92+7I77, make your configuration and then change the card name in the hal or ini file
12:30 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: I have a big list of card it’s for a big biesse rover
12:30 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: This is my list of card
12:35 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: So i have 7i80 db25
12:35 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: Un daughterboards i have one 7i77 and one 7i74
12:35 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: And after serial card in 7i74 with ethernet cable
12:35 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: And i have flash the 7i80 with config 2/7i77 an 2/7i74
12:58 PM solarwind: CaptHindsight[m] I have asthma. Well it only seems to activate when there are certain impurities in the air.
12:58 PM solarwind: Oddly enough, this smoke isn't triggering it. But grinding dust does
12:59 PM solarwind: Or when the neighbours illegally burn volatile organic compounds
01:11 PM JT-Shop: travis_farmer, inventory update done
01:12 PM * JT-Shop heads to do a little work... very little
01:16 PM travis_farmer: found, and purchased :-)
01:33 PM Tom_L: hoarder
01:33 PM Tom_L: :)
01:33 PM travis_farmer: ???
01:34 PM Tom_L: just kidding... seems he's always got somebody wanting lots
01:34 PM travis_farmer: i got just one, not lots...
01:37 PM roycroft: wildfire smoke bothers me a lot
01:39 PM roycroft: but that can be said about just about any kind of smoke
01:42 PM perry_j1987: could you guys help me figure out how to use a tool length setter with Probe Screen
01:42 PM perry_j1987: i can probe work pieces fine now with my touch probe
01:45 PM CaptHindsight[m]: https://github.com/linuxcnc-probe-screen/probe-screen-ng
01:45 PM roycroft: interestingly, the aqi in new brunswick and nova scotia, which are the sources of almost all the smoke, is really good right now, even though the fires are still raging
01:46 PM roycroft: it appears that the worst of the of the smoke is now in washington, "climate change? what you talkin' about willis?" dc
01:47 PM perry_j1987: ya thats the one i got
01:48 PM CaptHindsight[m]: finboyslick: are you still smoking?
01:49 PM FinboySlick[m]: That's western Quebec. We're too far east and it's been nothing but rain around here.
01:50 PM travis_farmer: Hmmm, i haven't received a PayPal receipt yet... did my order go through JT?
01:50 PM CaptHindsight[m]: https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/video?playlistId=1.6427890
01:51 PM perry_j1987: ah im reading this https://vers.ge/en/blog/useful-articles/probe-screen so im suppose to keep the 3d probe in and hit that TS Height button and it will use the 3d touch probe to measure how far down it is and then i can do regular tool changes
01:52 PM olivierbeaupuy[m: pcw-home:
01:55 PM FinboySlick: CaptHindsight[m]: While you're here though, are you still familiar with Allwinner stuff?
01:55 PM travis_farmer: Hmmm, PayPal says "Pending" still. maybe because it is the exact same amount $$$ as my last order there. maybe they think it is a double-charge... hope it goes through...
01:56 PM CaptHindsight[m]: FinboySlick: the older stuff
01:56 PM CaptHindsight[m]: i think the newer stuff is all risc-v
01:57 PM roycroft: travis_farmer: perhaps they're waiting for jt to confirm that it's shipped before charging you
01:57 PM travis_farmer: maybe, roycroft. sounds likely
01:58 PM FinboySlick: CaptHindsight[m]: Whatever they used to make my 3D printer management board has a miscalibrated wifi chip. I managed to mitigate by finding calibration for another device that uses the same chip but I'd like to see if it can be done right.
01:59 PM FinboySlick: Was wondering if that sort of stuff is up your or the kid's alley.
02:00 PM CaptHindsight[m]: no more software, he is done with it
02:00 PM FinboySlick: I know a couple guys in #openwrt too who gave me pointers, but I'll take all the help I can get.
02:00 PM FinboySlick: What is he up to now then?
02:02 PM CaptHindsight[m]: he wrote a ~1500 line installer to build Gentoo and LCNC, but LCNC doesn't build now. Something LCNC changed in the past 6 months.
02:03 PM CaptHindsight[m]: FinboySlick: looking for asshole free work, so he's still looking :)
02:03 PM travis_farmer: sounds like me...
02:04 PM FinboySlick: I was going to say that's not the kind of project someone who is 'done' with software would undertake.
02:04 PM CaptHindsight[m]: how i picture life up north https://imgur.com/gallery/lDfrwz9
02:05 PM CaptHindsight[m]: FinboySlick: he started on it last winter, he recently just wanted to finish it but something LCNC broke
02:22 PM roycroft: my parcel has made it from montreal to new york in one day
02:22 PM travis_farmer: that's impressive....
02:22 PM roycroft: now i can rely on the us postal service, who seem downright competent compared to canada post, to dispatch it the rest of the way
02:22 PM roycroft: yeah, it took two weeks to get from st john to montreal
02:23 PM * roycroft figures another 4-5 days until final delivery now
02:25 PM travis_farmer: there's my PayPal receipt :-) all is good in the world :-)
02:36 PM FabianB[m] is now known as fabianb0[m]
03:29 PM * travis_farmer suspects JT is out taking selfies with his C8, and whispering sweet-nothings in it's ear... ;-)
03:47 PM XXCoder: new robrenz video wow
03:47 PM XXCoder: thats rare
04:03 PM XXCoder: adjustable chuck interesting
04:09 PM OldSQL[m] is now known as oldsql_0[m]
04:29 PM skunkworks[m]: admin
04:29 PM xxcoder[m]: yes?
04:34 PM Unterhausen: discord taking forever to log me in
04:35 PM XXCoder: Unterhausen: force refresh you might be getting login nme change
04:35 PM XXCoder: I just got mine
04:35 PM Unterhausen: I refreshed
04:35 PM unterhausen[m]: and got in
04:36 PM unterhausen[m]: how did they tell you about the name change?
04:36 PM XXCoder: dialog in website. i dont use app
04:38 PM unterhausen[m]: I dint get any dialogs
04:39 PM xxcoder[m]: your account is still too new. I got login change early because I have nitro
04:40 PM xxcoder[m]: theyre doing it from oldest to newest, with nitro users getting it early
04:43 PM Unterhausen: but I'm special
04:43 PM travis_farmer: special-ed?
04:45 PM skunkworks[m]: Me too! Me too!
04:45 PM skunkworks[m]: My mom says I am special
04:45 PM Unterhausen: everybody can't be special
04:46 PM roycroft: fucking millenial moms
04:46 PM roycroft: helicopter parenting and medals for everyone is what is destroying this country
04:47 PM roycroft: let kids be kids, an let them get their lumps!
04:47 PM roycroft: lumps build character
04:47 PM roycroft: :)
04:47 PM roguish[m]: roycroft: hey, relax guy.....
04:47 PM roguish[m]: spare the chore, spoil the child.....
04:48 PM roycroft: it's the cell phones that are worse than the parents, though, if i'm honest
04:48 PM * travis_farmer is technically special-ed, and likely a bit spoiled as well...
04:48 PM roycroft: there should be a minimum age to posess and use a cell phone
04:48 PM roycroft: and that age should be 48 or so :)
04:49 PM Unterhausen: max age of 48 also
04:56 PM travis_farmer: and with that... time to sign off and enjoy a sausage and bacon pizza :-)
05:11 PM roycroft: well i think i'm done painting the first half of my laser enclousre - 4 coats of color seems to be the right amount
05:11 PM roycroft: now to get the other parts prepped and primed
05:11 PM XXCoder: nice
05:12 PM roycroft: yeah, althoughit's going to be a while before it's done
05:12 PM skiboy[m] is now known as fluffyalpaca0[m]
05:12 PM roycroft: i need to let the color cure for at least a couple weeks, and possibly a month, before i can spray clear on it
05:12 PM roycroft: i made a sample board this time for testing
05:12 PM roycroft: the color turned out really god
05:12 PM roycroft: good
05:14 PM roycroft: i'm having a rethink on the whole process - this is so time-consuming i might be better off going forward setting up the painting tent, puttin on the space suit, and spraying the industrial isocyanate paint
05:14 PM roycroft: i've never done that on wood before, but maybe it's the best way to go
05:14 PM roycroft: well, this isn't really wood - it's mdf
05:14 PM roycroft: wood-ish :)
05:16 PM Tom_L: fake wood
05:16 PM roycroft: i'm not even sure how i'd apply the industrial paint
05:16 PM Tom_L: filler to hold the glue in place
05:16 PM roycroft: the epoxy primer i normaly use would just get soaked up in the mdf, especially on the ends
05:17 PM roycroft: and i don't think i could use kilz with the industrial paint
05:17 PM roycroft: you really have to strictly use the system with that kind of paint
05:17 PM XXCoder: fake wood made from real wood peices and glue
05:18 PM roycroft: mixing and matching products is almost a guaranted disaster
05:18 PM Tom_L: you can't powder coat wood can you?
05:18 PM Tom_L: i doubt it
05:18 PM XXCoder: would need to bake it
05:19 PM XXCoder: dunno if it would be hot enough to burn wood or not.
05:19 PM XXCoder: or char it
05:19 PM Tom_L: charged particles too
05:20 PM XXCoder: probably can do conductive paint like you do for coating parts with metal even though its not metal
05:21 PM XXCoder: its baking side that I dont know on
05:21 PM XXCoder: conductive paint probably would melt too
05:22 PM Tom_L: Ultimately powder coating wood is possible but with the current status of technology there are some limitations. Specifically, powder coating will only work with certain wood and requires special considerations to address moisture as well as curing.
05:24 PM roycroft: i wonder of applying a salt solution to wood and letting it dry would faciliate powder coating
05:25 PM Tom_L: 2 problems. static conductivity and moisture during curing
05:25 PM roycroft: xxcoder: there are powders that cure at temps below fahrenheit 451
05:25 PM XXCoder: ok
05:26 PM Tom_L: i've seen some early examples of polyester applied to wood that didn't work out so well
05:26 PM Tom_L: the wood shrunk and the poly popped loose
05:27 PM XXCoder: probably best to seal wood first
05:28 PM roycroft: melamine board is a form of plastic that is applied to a manufactured wood surface
05:29 PM roycroft: i'm not certain how it's manufactured, but melamine is a heat-setting plastic
05:29 PM roycroft: i suspect the particle board is manufactured first, then sheets of melamine are applied to one or both sides and adhered via a combination of heat and pressure
05:35 PM roycroft: and teh youtube confirms that what i said is essentially the process
05:37 PM roycroft: i did leave out one major detail
05:38 PM roycroft: when melamine boards are made in china, factory workers are required to wear flip-flops, and no ppe is permitted
05:39 PM roguish[m]: don't be baggin on the workers....they're just trying to make a living.....
05:44 PM roycroft: or trying to keep from getting sent to a laogai camp
05:50 PM JT-Shop: oh yea xtool d1 pro says 400 mm/sec but when you open the machine settings file is has x 300 mm/sec and y 100 mm/sec
05:50 PM JT-Shop: are the settings correct?
05:51 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: do ya got the Vette yet?
05:54 PM JT-Shop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DQtnMm4c6k
05:54 PM JT-Shop: Tuesday
05:55 PM JT-Shop: I changed the wheels at delivery
05:55 PM roguish[m]: very cool. when's the world tour ?
05:56 PM JT-Shop: starts tomorrow with a trip to Chaumette Vineyards
05:56 PM roguish[m]: nice
05:59 PM JT-Shop: can't wait to get it broken in... only 380 miles to go before I can floor it
05:59 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: you know, we're all totally jealous........
06:00 PM roguish[m]: stick or automatic? if ya got to choose....
06:01 PM JT-Shop: no choice... 8 speed dual clutch computer controlled transmission
06:02 PM roguish[m]: ok, sorta figured. how's it smell inside?
06:02 PM roguish[m]: new car?
06:02 PM JT-Shop: like leather
06:02 PM roguish[m]: shit. i haven't bought a new car since '74
06:02 PM JT-Shop: https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a29758062/c8-corvette-dual-clutch-dct-tremec-technical-specs-analysis/
06:03 PM JT-Shop: if you hold the downshift paddle, the DCT will serve up the lowest possible gear. Do that while braking, and the transmission will keep downshifting as engine speed allows. And second, pulling both paddles at the same time is equivalent to pushing in the clutch pedal on a manual car, which allows you to rev the C8's new V-8 as much as you want.
06:04 PM JT-Shop: DCT Dual Clutch Transmission
06:04 PM roguish[m]: wow. neat
06:05 PM roguish[m]: there are some pretty smart and clever engineers around
06:05 PM roguish[m]: a few
06:05 PM JT-Shop: yup the car is pretty amazing for sure
06:05 PM JT-Shop: I loved driving the C5 but 15 minutes in the C8 changed my mind
06:07 PM JT-Shop: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-general-discussion/4377174-post-pictures-here-of-your-new-c8-when-you-take-delivery-155.html#post1606715851
06:07 PM JT-Shop: scroll up a bit on that thread
06:07 PM JT-Shop: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-general-discussion/4377174-post-pictures-here-of-your-new-c8-when-you-take-delivery-155.html#post1606712286
06:07 PM JT-Shop: there it is
06:08 PM Tom_L: i see she's getting the keys
06:08 PM JT-Shop: yup, she "will" drive it
06:08 PM roguish[m]: I like to blue color too.
06:09 PM roguish[m]: that the trouble and strife ?
06:09 PM roguish[m]: the wife?
06:09 PM JT-Shop: thanks, they discontinued that color a month after my order was accepted
06:09 PM JT-Shop: that's the salesman handing her the key thingy
06:12 PM * JT-Shop wanders to the deck to rtfm
06:12 PM roguish[m]: caio
06:21 PM perry_j1987: giving this a try now https://vers.ge/en/blog/useful-articles/probe-screen so i popped the probe in the spindle and hit the TS Height button. it went over and probed off it and set a value in that window. then it says to jog over and hit the workpiece button and it will throw a value in there too. i did that and then it says every time you hit M6 Tx it will auto touch off but did a manual tool change in MDI it had a window pop up and ask that i
06:21 PM perry_j1987: was done changing the tool I click ok and then nothing.
06:58 PM Tom_L: have you contacted them?
09:37 PM Centurion_Dan1 is now known as Centurion_Dan
10:28 PM Centurion_Dan1 is now known as Centurion_Dan
10:34 PM mits5782[m]: My spindle speed is running like a yoyo under pid control... I'm trying to tune it but my efforts are not great so far
10:35 PM mits5782[m]: I find that it's either very slow to arrive at the desired speed
10:35 PM mits5782[m]: or it's oscillating
10:35 PM mits5782[m]: even after trying to tune Dgain
10:36 PM mits5782[m]: I would love to use the auto tune mode... but it seems to want to run negaitve as part of the test... but I can't run the spindle at a negative speed unless I bolt on a bunch more
10:36 PM mits5782[m]: if I want to reverse I need to get the spindle to drop to near zero speed and then reverse and ramp back up
10:36 PM mits5782[m]: and I'm not sure how to latch that
10:38 PM mits5782[m]: hmm, maybe this would be a flipflop if it has an enable line
10:39 PM _unreal_: If you are dealing with a YOYO effect, then your settings are not tight enough
10:39 PM _unreal_: shuddering your settings would be too tight and over correcting.
10:39 PM _unreal_: also pid settings can change under load
10:40 PM _unreal_: witch also ties into your speeds/feeds
10:48 PM Kaalaman|Martin[ is now known as kaalaman30[m]
10:48 PM mits5782[m]: this is unloaded testing
10:49 PM mits5782[m]: need it to work in unloaded testing before I can even try to load it
10:51 PM _unreal_: I have not messed with pid control on a spindle.
10:51 PM _unreal_: But the fact that it wants to reverse is interesting, is your spindle designed to run both direction? or is it a one direction tool?
10:51 PM _unreal_: I would assume single direction
10:51 PM mits5782[m]: it will run both directions, but the encoder doesn't represent it
10:51 PM _unreal_: ?
10:51 PM _unreal_: is it an encoder or an ADDER
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: so when the auto tuner tries to reverse directions it just says "oh, I'm already at that speed"
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: and moves on
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: it's just a pulse train for RPM
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: no direction
10:52 PM _unreal_: so its a tech or adder
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: well, 2 count per rev
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: so RP*
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: tach
10:52 PM _unreal_: you only have rotation
10:52 PM mits5782[m]: I'm making it an adder with a mesa card
10:53 PM mits5782[m]: yeah
10:53 PM _unreal_: so your just looking for maintaining speed
10:53 PM mits5782[m]: I mean, maybe I shouldn't be trying to use the pid auto tuner
10:53 PM _unreal_: then your settings are set for quadrature encode3r
10:53 PM _unreal_: on the mesa
10:53 PM mits5782[m]: nah
10:53 PM mits5782[m]: they're count mode
10:53 PM mits5782[m]: I made sure of that
10:53 PM _unreal_: and linuxcnc?
10:54 PM mits5782[m]: well, the mesa card outputs a derivative for you... velocity and velocity-rpm
10:54 PM mits5782[m]: so I have rps and rpm to feed to wherever I need
10:54 PM mits5782[m]: and that part works
10:54 PM _unreal_: yes and linuxcnc is the interrupter
10:55 PM _unreal_: originally I had my 7i96 setup with servos
10:55 PM mits5782[m]: I assume you are saying that linuxcnc is taking the value and time slicing it to get second derivative?
10:55 PM _unreal_: I changed it to steppers
10:55 PM _unreal_: mainly becuase I was having controller issues.
10:56 PM _unreal_: yes correct
10:56 PM _unreal_: turned out to be a bad ground that back fed power
10:56 PM mits5782[m]: augh, dang
10:56 PM _unreal_: never solved the source of the issue
10:56 PM _unreal_: tomany other life problems currently
10:57 PM mits5782[m]: I lost my job so that's why I have extra time to tinker with linuxcnc for now 🙂
10:58 PM _unreal_: hence I'm in the marine industry working on luxury yachts. if you know you trade(s) there is ALWAYS work.
11:05 PM roycroft: his industry is only spelled "luxury yacht"
11:05 PM roycroft: it's pronounced "throatwarbler mangrove"
11:05 PM roycroft: fun fact
11:06 PM XXCoder: mits that sucks. hope you find a job soon
11:24 PM travis_farmer: Morning :-)
11:39 PM mits5782[m]: ❤️
11:39 PM mits5782[m]: thank you
