04:23 AM travis_farmer[m]: Morning ☕️
04:40 AM Tom_L: morning
04:49 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:49 AM travis_farmer[m]: 5 more days, JT
05:05 AM JT-Cave: I'm going to wait until tomorrow to email Shane at the NCM for an update... a guy on midenginecorvetteforum.com was able to get status updates but GM changed the order desk
05:05 AM JT-Cave: so now he can only get status for orders at his dealership
05:07 AM JT-Cave: TPW (Tentative Production Week) is/was still 5/22 last time I checked
05:07 AM JT-Cave: if that holds true I might get delivery by 2nd week of June...
05:08 AM travis_farmer[m]: well, at least that leaves you most of the summer to enjoy it
05:09 AM JT-Cave: I hope so... if nothing breaks lol
05:12 AM JT-Cave: interesting the other day I was fueling up the C5 and there was a lady fueling up her husbands C7 so I went to talk to her and she was real nice and told me about a South East Missouri Corvette Club which I've never heard of before so I joined
05:13 AM JT-Cave: so far everyone seems real nice and they have a picnic June 3rd so it sounds fun
05:15 AM travis_farmer[m]: as much as you are paying for that car, they should be nice to you.
05:17 AM JT-Cave: I doubt that has anything to do with it, most of the Corvettes I've seen in club photos are like my C5 or older so pretty low cost cars
05:47 AM JT-Cave: rooster just crowed
05:51 AM Loetmichel: Hey, JT... care to send me a good 1960s F150 over to germany? As i heard those are cheap over there... Corvette is nice, but i need something to transport things with ;)
05:51 AM Loetmichel: <- just scanned the used market here. Cheapest Ranger was about 7,5kEur... and that was with a bad engine.
05:53 AM travis_farmer[m]: i wasn't aware there was such a thing as a good Ford... ;-)
05:54 AM Loetmichel: I meant: "in good, nearly rust-free condition". :)
05:54 AM Loetmichel: i would take a dodge RAM, too... :)
05:54 AM Loetmichel: An US sized Pickup.
05:55 AM JT-Cave: by the time you paid all the import duties and vat and other taxes plus postage you could get a Lamborghini
05:55 AM travis_farmer[m]: i am pretty sure JT, like myself, is in the rust zone (winter roads get salted). you would want a southern truck to get rust-free
05:55 AM travis_farmer[m]: that too
05:56 AM Loetmichel: JT-Cave: probably.
05:57 AM JT-Cave: you want a truck from the dry western states
05:57 AM JT-Cave: we get something from time to time for ice and snow but it
05:57 AM JT-Cave: 's not salt
05:58 AM travis_farmer[m]: yeah, technically they stopped salt here too. i think they use a calcium slurry now
05:59 AM travis_farmer[m]: even worse, makes rust faster
06:02 AM JT-Cave: I was fueling up the C5 one day and a guy in a beat up pickup was trying to trade me straight up... his pitch was you can haul anything in a Corvette
06:02 AM JT-Cave: my reply was I can haul things you can't...
06:03 AM JT-Cave: he had a quizzical look and said what?
06:03 AM XXCoder: "it can haul your corvette"
06:03 AM XXCoder: ;)
06:03 AM JT-Cave: I told him I can haul ass and cute girls
06:03 AM travis_farmer[m]: lol, i can't believe you didn't trade ;-)
06:04 AM JT-Cave: I have a truck...
06:04 AM XXCoder: corvette wont be prtty after hauling pile of rocks or dirt
06:04 AM JT-Cave: anyway more important thing I need to solve
06:04 AM travis_farmer[m]: if i had a vehicle other than a truck, i would get a small electric car for around town driving
06:05 AM JT-Cave: I did see a Corvette hauling a couch... and you can get roof racks for the coupe
06:05 AM JT-Cave: I grow wheat sprouts for the hens and lately I've been getting some bluish mold that grows on the hull of the seeds
06:06 AM JT-Cave: I've tried everything I can think of and nothing stops the mold and does not impede the growth
06:07 AM XXCoder: uh that sounds familiar to me for some reason
06:07 AM JT-Cave: I need to take a photo of the mold...
06:07 AM XXCoder: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/blue-mold
06:08 AM JT-Cave: seems like some seeds don't have it and some do
06:08 AM XXCoder: pencillin expansum?
06:08 AM JT-Cave: hmm no photos...
06:08 AM travis_farmer[m]: https://www.gardenguides.com/121378-kill-mold-wheatgrass.html "But to prevent mold from cropping up in the first place, treat the seed and the growing plant with food-grade hydrogen peroxide."
06:09 AM XXCoder: found photos but none of em is on wheat (well besides bread)
06:09 AM XXCoder: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQv7lR9f2yMF0l8GR7Yh7UOfQx_qm0pSuWvfbP7e0Am6-tShFc9PprMbUuYboPen6crmgc&usqp=CAU
06:09 AM JT-Cave: hydrogen peroxide does nothing, that was the first thing I tried
06:09 AM travis_farmer[m]: hmmm...
06:09 AM XXCoder: is that in any way similiar?
06:10 AM JT-Cave: about the right color but can't really tell the image is so small
06:10 AM XXCoder: yeah not best pic

06:11 AM XXCoder: bigger one
06:12 AM JT-Cave: aye I zoomed in too but the detail is lost
06:12 AM JT-Cave: I'll get my phone in a bit and take a photo of it
06:12 AM XXCoder: yeah good idea
06:13 AM XXCoder: second link is larger resolution of same picture

06:55 AM JT-Cave: I don't see how it's possible to deliver the package today if it left Olive Branch MS last night and has never arrived in Sikeston MO
06:56 AM JT-Cave: travel history looks even more confusing
07:06 AM Rowow[m]: How do you have it stored
07:06 AM Rowow[m]: If it's in proper dry storage it shouldn't have any growth
07:06 AM Rowow[m]: Also sealing it in a airtight bag to void it of oxygen will stop growth
07:06 AM JT-Cave: it's in a bucket with desiccant packs
07:07 AM JT-Cave: the mold does not grow in the storage bucket
07:07 AM * Rowow[m] uploaded an image: (460KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/NUchmvliGypVzJeivMAcCXhP/PXL_20230517_120722506.jpg >
07:08 AM JT-Cave: what a nasty bucket lol
07:08 AM Rowow[m]: I got a bunch of these buckets they use for chlorine pellets for pools
07:08 AM Rowow[m]: Very tight seal. I keep them outside and rain and crud doesn't get in
07:09 AM Rowow[m]: I hit one bucket with oats that's probably two years old with no oats
07:09 AM Rowow[m]: s/oats/mold/
07:09 AM Rowow[m]: It's a twist lock lid instead of the regular snap on ones

07:11 AM JT-Cave: my bucket is inside and clean and like I said no mold grows in the bucket

07:28 AM JT-Cave: today's harvest
07:37 AM Kumar: Hi All, How to test RT using some test applications with deadline_scheduler or others ?
07:37 AM Kumar: Any idea. for this.
07:39 AM Kumar: We built rpi-kernel and applied the PREEMPT-RT patch there and verified RT patch is installed using uname -a and uname -r commands.
07:41 AM Kumar: We tested this RT patch behaviour using C test application with deadline_scheduler with 2 threads.
07:41 AM Kumar: Scheduler : Deadline_scheduler
07:41 AM Kumar: Num of Threads : 2
07:41 AM Kumar: Thread1 : deadline_time – 5 ms, period – 5ms, runtime – 2ms, busywait delay – 1ms.
07:42 AM Kumar: Thread2 : deadline_time – 10 ms, period – 10ms, runtime – 4ms, busywait delay – 2ms.
07:42 AM Kumar: We are seeing some minor difference in results compared to Standard rpi kernel. Some cases results are almost same.
07:42 AM Kumar: Any suggestion to test it and prove RT patch is better in scheduling time and latencies ?
07:42 AM Tom_L: latency test?
07:47 AM Kumar: you mean cyclic-test ( RT test suite) ?
07:48 AM Tom_L: lcnc latency test
07:49 AM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
07:49 AM Unterhausen: I was going to suggest looking at the code for the latency test or latency histogram
07:50 AM Kumar: But, we want to test it in test applications with some scheduler ?
07:51 AM Kumar: can you pls the links to refer lcnc latency test.
07:51 AM Kumar: Also, latency-test command is not found in standard ubuntu 22.04 LTS
07:52 AM travis_farmer[m]: thats because it is part of the LinuxCNC system

07:52 AM Tom_L: https://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/install/latency-test.html

07:54 AM Tom_L: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-questions/38263-latency-histogram-meaning-of-values
07:54 AM Kumar: How can we get this cnc latency-test in standard ubuntu 22.04 LTS
07:55 AM travis_farmer[m]: it only comes with LinuxCNC
07:55 AM Tom_L: i'm not sure if it's part of a source build or not
07:56 AM Tom_L: it is the de facto standard for testing hardware for linuxcnc though
07:56 AM Kumar: ok
07:57 AM Tom_L: try running latency-test from a terminal
07:57 AM Kumar: any test applications for standard ubuntu to verify RT patch behaviour ?
07:57 AM Tom_L: or latency-histogram
07:58 AM Tom_L: and if it's for mesa cards add --nobase to it
07:58 AM Kumar: I am unable to find package to install latency-test or latency-histogram ?
07:58 AM travis_farmer[m]: do you intend on installing LinuxCNC, or is this a general RT kernel thing?
07:59 AM Tom_L: https://www.forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc/32663-latency-histogram
08:00 AM Kumar: General RT kernel

08:15 AM JT-Cave: hmm the last tire has made it to Sikeston this morning so with luck delivery tomorrow
08:15 AM JT-Cave: at least it's out of the clutches of Olive Branch MS finally
08:16 AM Tom_L: maybe soon you'll have something to put them on
08:18 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:19 AM JT-Shop: I think I just got 3400... got an email from Chevrolet my order has reached the next stage what ever that means :)
08:24 AM Tom_L: loaded on assembly plant computers
08:25 AM Tom_L: 3800 should be next.. Order Produced VIN Available
08:26 AM JT-Shop: just emailed Shane to see if I have a VIN now, he can get things no one else can
08:27 AM Tom_L: ok i'm off
08:28 AM JT-Shop: later
08:39 AM JT-Cave: just got my VIN
10:16 AM roycroft: it's another day in paradise
10:40 AM Lcvette[m]: nice! won't be long now!
11:22 AM Unterhausen: I just logged into my unterhausen gmail account that I hadn't logged into for a long time. What a time capsule
11:22 AM JT-Shop: Lcvette[m], yup just got the last tire...
11:26 AM Lcvette[m]: awesome!!
11:27 AM JT-Cave: it will be built the 25th
11:34 AM Lcvette[m]: at what stage do they project a delivery date?
12:15 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, cool
12:29 PM Tom_L: Lcvette[m], after it passes quality control
12:30 PM Tom_L: he's aparently at 3800 then 4000 available to ship then 4200 order shipped
02:58 PM XXCoder: JT-Cave: any luck with IDing the mold?
04:25 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:29 PM Tom_itx: ok, they said 9:00... that was quick
05:43 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, 3400
05:45 PM Tom_L: i was going off the fact that you had a VIN now
05:46 PM JT-Shop: Shane can get the VIN at 3400
05:46 PM Tom_L: 6000 is the big one :)
05:46 PM JT-Shop: yup
05:49 PM Tom_L: did the rims come with valve stems or is that another extra expense?
05:49 PM JT-Shop: Lcvette[m], Jack Cooper batch ships C8's by location
05:49 PM JT-Shop: the TPMS is extra
05:51 PM Tom_L: i replaced some once when the batteries died
05:52 PM JT-Shop: I replaced one on the C5 yesterday
05:53 PM Tom_L: nut sold separately..
05:55 PM Tom_L: Nut 84413358
06:20 PM Unterhausen: I wasted a couple of hours last week because I was trying to use the wrong format for hexadecimal numbers
06:22 PM CloudEvil: 0x0
06:27 PM Unterhausen: the device I'm talking to is really picky and if it doesn't like the data you sent, it just goes quiet. Really helps debugging
06:41 PM CloudEvil: http://spiff.rit.edu/classes/phys317/lectures/boom/ariane.htm thinking of
07:06 PM _unreal_: soo whats new
07:07 PM _unreal_: I'm waiting for my dirt train slow netbook to finish rebooting so I can cnc mill a project
07:07 PM _unreal_: ksigh
07:08 PM skunkworks[m]: net book? wow - that is a term I haven't heard in ages
07:26 PM Unterhausen: now we got the infamous error 6
07:26 PM Unterhausen: door handle no good
07:28 PM Unterhausen: might have a minor bug, but fortunately no $370 million explosions
07:31 PM Unterhausen: error 1460 is significantly less convenient to look up
07:31 PM JT-Cave: Tom_L, figures
07:32 PM JT-Cave: looks exactly like the C5 nut
07:45 PM _unreal_: and we are milling
10:03 PM Unterhausen: I think I just spent 2 hours finding out that a windows system call doesn't work properly
10:03 PM Unterhausen: seems like they are afraid to change it for fear it would break someone's program that has been out there for years
10:14 PM Unterhausen: timeout was too short, apparently
11:30 PM CaptHindsight[m]: skunkworks: I used a ~12 year old netbook to test a new internet service, it maxed it out at 25mb/sec
11:31 PM CaptHindsight[m]: but on a real PC it hits 110mb/sec
11:31 PM XXCoder: probably capped by some other limition
11:31 PM XXCoder: like bus
11:32 PM roycroft: netbooks tend to have software nics
11:34 PM CaptHindsight[m]: this one has some realtek but only a 1GHz dual core AMD something-or-other
11:35 PM CaptHindsight[m]: and the wifi is pre 5GHz
11:36 PM CaptHindsight[m]: it couldn't find the open xifinity :)
