05:09 PM JT[m]: Wedding bowl is finished!
05:12 PM xxcoder[m]: 🎉
05:39 PM roguish[m]: JT: looooking gooood
05:40 PM roguish[m]: ya got a new carreer
05:42 PM JT-Shop: my new career is driving around in my C8 looking for wineries, restaurants and ice cream
05:44 PM JT-Shop: I do have another bowl I want to make
05:48 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: that's pretty good work if you can find it......just get er done
05:50 PM roguish[m]: I went to a wine tasting party at my good buddy's little winery yesterday. good wine, good food. no ice cream though.
05:50 PM roguish[m]: what kind op wine are you looking for? besides free....
05:50 PM JT-Shop: nice, ice cream is usually with a cheese burger and some tots
05:50 PM JT-Shop: I like smooth dry red wine
05:52 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: this it my friend's https://www.pruettwine.com/
05:52 PM roguish[m]: this is his brother's https://www.pruettvineyard.com/
05:54 PM JT-Shop: this is my favorite https://chaumette.com/
05:55 PM roguish[m]: nice. pretty place.
05:56 PM JT-Shop: their winery burned down a few years ago and they have the building back up, Hank the owner said he will have some Norton soon
05:58 PM JT-Shop: last time we went to River Ridge winery they finally ran out of the 2017 Norton, I should have asked Rob if he had any stashed away
05:59 PM JT-Shop: the 2019 is very good but I liked the 2017 better
05:59 PM roguish[m]: what's Norton. I have not heard of that type..
05:59 PM JT-Shop: it's a Missouri grape that I think the Germans brought over
06:02 PM roycroft: jt-shop: you should check out some pinot noirs from oregon
06:03 PM roycroft: our climate is ideal for that grape, and we make some world class pinots
06:03 PM roycroft: they are dry and smooth, with cherry notes and sometimes some berries as well
06:04 PM roycroft: occasionally they're a little peppery, but still pretty smooth
06:04 PM JT-Shop: I usually drink cab or norton local wines
06:05 PM JT-Shop: looks like oregon has a lot of grapes
06:05 PM roycroft: cabs and zins, espcially from california, tend to be thick and chewey and spicy
06:05 PM roycroft: yes, we're a big wine state
06:06 PM roguish[m]: most of the cabs around here are really heavy with the added sulfites and other junk. I have a bad intolerance to food sulfites....
06:06 PM roycroft: there are at least 20 vineyards within a 12 mile radius of where i live, and i'm not in one of the main wine areas
06:06 PM JT-Shop: yuck
06:07 PM roycroft: we grow a lot of varietals, but pinot noir is what we're best known for
06:08 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day and wanders inside
06:08 PM roguish[m]: yup..... ttfn
06:09 PM roycroft: we grow a lot of german white grapes, like riesling, müller thurgau, gewüertztraminer, etc., but those grapes generally grow better in washington
06:10 PM roycroft: and the big, heavy red grapes like zinfandel and cabernet souvignon grow better in california, although again, we grow some of that
06:12 PM * roycroft just screwed up a part and is debating whether to try to fix it or make a new one
06:12 PM roycroft: perhaps i'll go finish cutting the grass and ponder the matter while doing that
06:13 PM roycroft: it's for a shop project, and as such i'm inclined to try to fix it as an exercise in fixing problems
