12:22 AM Vvega[m]: What controls the jog speed for z ? Mine seams reall really lazy
12:33 AM Vvega[m]: Has all the same acc. Rates as x and y
12:34 AM Vvega[m]: Hoons good now
12:35 AM * Vvega[m] uploaded a video: (6104KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/lfEirkikKHDuOBKCLXXLtlMH/IMG_7356.mov >
12:35 AM XXCoder: it has limits set correct?
12:38 AM miss0r: XXCoder: Hows it hanging?
12:39 AM XXCoder: the usual. you?
12:40 AM miss0r: just dipping into a slow period of work (MUCH NEEDED)
12:41 AM miss0r: I have a meeting with the bank tomorrow, to see if they will lend me the money needed to build my new shop.
12:43 AM miss0r: also... my hot air solder/desoldergun's heating element failed! and apparently I cannot get new spare parts for it. the vendor thinks that just because they stopped making them 15 years ago its a good enough excuse not to sell spare parts anymore *sigh*
12:48 AM miss0r: XXCoder : Didn't you mock about with some epoxy granite at some point?
12:49 AM XXCoder: nice on progrss there. and nah did some research etc but no money to try :)
12:49 AM miss0r: ahh
12:50 AM miss0r: I've done a bit. But I was hoping for some hand on experience with the ratio of granite, sand & resin. I felt like my last cast was waaaaaay to expensive in regards to the amount of resin
12:51 AM XXCoder: i remember that video where guy used rotted granite for yard and washed em
12:51 AM miss0r: rotted granite? How do one manage to do that?
12:52 AM XXCoder: its very common garden thing
12:52 AM XXCoder: https://lemkestone.com/product/red-rotten-granite/ example
12:54 AM miss0r: It might be a language barrier here... but rotten stuff is something that is decaying. like rotten fruit. I just don't understand how stone can rot? :S
12:54 AM XXCoder: I know, its one of thoise weird things
12:54 AM XXCoder: its been broken down by envorment and stuff into pebbles
12:54 AM XXCoder: usually very rough
12:55 AM miss0r: ahh. alright :)
12:55 AM XXCoder: cant find that video
12:56 AM miss0r: I used some I bought in bags from the garden supply. I washed them and dried them in a big cast iron pan on an outside gas stove, before using it in the cast
12:57 AM Vvega[m]: Yes 🙂 and hard limits attached , it’s fast enough now that I won’t be able to stop it crashing
12:57 AM XXCoder: thats great vvega
12:57 AM XXCoder: mis nice
12:58 AM Vvega[m]: Haha , well you guys have been helpful 🙂
12:58 AM Vvega[m]: So just sharing the progress
12:58 AM miss0r: you know: sarcasm doesn't translate well on irc :D
12:58 AM miss0r: and that in itself was sarcasm (like people in here can even help)... which also translates poor on irc
12:58 AM Vvega[m]: Oh ?
12:58 AM miss0r: ... never mind :D
12:59 AM XXCoder: yeah wasnt sure where you was going mis lol
12:59 AM miss0r: :]
12:59 AM miss0r: If I ever were going anywhere it is all too clouded now to see :) I fudged that one up good :D
01:00 AM XXCoder: lol
01:00 AM miss0r: Vvega[m]: I'm glad you could find some help in here. That is, after all, what we're here hor
01:00 AM miss0r: for*
01:00 AM Vvega[m]: Rotton rocks , are called that because there soft and crumbly
01:00 AM miss0r: oh
01:01 AM miss0r: that doesn't sound like something that I would use in an EG cast. That sounds like something that would be hard to penetrade with the resin for a good bond
01:01 AM XXCoder: video had tricks on prepping it for usage
01:01 AM XXCoder: and adding few gradients of sizes of particles down to sand size
01:01 AM XXCoder: guy washes all rocks beforehand and dries em too
01:02 AM miss0r: yeah, I think I would skip the rotten component all together, and just hand pick the particle sizes to go into the mix. from 10-15mm rocks(depends on the cast size) down to sand. That rotten stuff sounds like a mix bag that is hard to work/calculate with
01:03 AM XXCoder: possibly. I wanted to try but never got around to it
01:03 AM miss0r: go for it :)
01:03 AM miss0r: I made a cute little lathe with it. A friend of mine is running it now at his work
01:03 AM XXCoder: nice
01:04 AM miss0r: it was a bit of chunker. But apparently it was the only machine they tested that could turn some exotic material down to thin stems without going into resonance
01:04 AM miss0r: so they bought it :)
01:06 AM XXCoder: yeah various prticle sizes is great on killing vibrations
01:07 AM XXCoder: i recall one that also added small amount of syofoam balls
01:07 AM XXCoder: not sure how they kept it mixed
01:07 AM miss0r: That sounds like a challange :D
01:07 AM jpa-: i have a cnc router bed made out of aluminum profile, it has 2x3cm channels throughout; i have been wondering about filling those with epoxy granite
01:07 AM jpa-: not that i would have had much problem with bed vibrations so far, so not sure if worth the effort
01:08 AM miss0r: you can just fill'em with sand
01:08 AM Vvega[m]: Yeah granite is hard as hell
01:08 AM XXCoder: can add sand ot it
01:08 AM XXCoder: lol mis is faster. but yeah. if you have 3d printer you can even make caps to hold sand
01:08 AM XXCoder: or maybe use cnc to make caps of some kind
01:08 AM Vvega[m]: It’s the delta between the granite and the soft epoxy that absorbs vibration
01:08 AM jpa-: on youtube someone used sand blasting sand, it would at least be dry to start with
01:09 AM XXCoder: dead sandblasting media not bad idea maybe
01:09 AM Vvega[m]: So you have silica sand ….. not recommended or garnet …… garnet is hard as hell
01:09 AM miss0r: jpa-: put the sand in a pot on the stove while the wife is not home. I may or may not have done that on more than one ocassion
01:10 AM Vvega[m]: You could use beach pebbles
01:11 AM XXCoder: not ure about that because of smoothness
01:11 AM jpa-: i guess the cheap way would be to just collect a bunch of the stones that have piled on the roads from the winter season
01:11 AM Vvega[m]: Or crushed glass
01:11 AM jpa-: i have some expired casting epoxy that would probably still work well enough for this
01:12 AM Vvega[m]: Crushed glass is cheap , and if you roll in in a barrel for a few days it will soften the edges
01:12 AM miss0r: I had to bend some square steel tubing some years back. bend this 30x60x2 tude 180degrees with a 400mm inside radius. I made a serious contraption :D but I filled the tupes with tried sand I made on the stove, and drove wood wedges into the end. This way I managed to keep them nice and pretty without any noticable deformations during the bend
01:12 AM Vvega[m]: Sand bending is a thing
01:13 AM miss0r: jpa-: Be carefull with that expired stuff. I had some that was out of date, and it did something to the hardener. It went off so fast you would not believe it. and it got HOT! so hot infact, I would be afraid it could bend that alu frame of yours out of shape
01:14 AM miss0r: Vvega[m]: Indeed. I didn't have the internet at hand. well, I did. But that was back in the modem days. You didn't just look this stuff up. I am proud to say the idea came from myself.. or maybe I saw it somewhere first, I don't know :D
01:15 AM Vvega[m]: 🙂 ,
01:15 AM miss0r: the biggest challange was degreasing the inside of the tubes and drying them out, so the sand would not stick afterwards. The tubes were 5 meters long before bending
01:16 AM miss0r: I made this insane setup outside with some scaffolding to pour in the sand :)
01:17 AM miss0r: meh. I've been putting this off for far too long now(and not just this morning). I will turn up the stereo and see if I can't locate a shopfloor under all my cludder here.
01:36 AM Deejay: moin
01:44 AM miss0r: I wonder if I should sell my old roland digital grounp pnc-3100 cnc...
01:44 AM miss0r: I realy need the space on my electronics table & I hardly ever use the thing
01:45 AM miss0r: Last time I had it fired up was over a year ago
01:45 AM miss0r: and if I decided to sell it. What do you guys think would be a suitable price?
01:46 AM miss0r: its one like this: https://graviranje.rs/Engraving_PORTAL/machines/roland/Roland_PNC-3100.htm
01:47 AM jpa-: cute.. i'd say 500-1000 USD range
01:48 AM miss0r: that is assuming anyone would want it :)
01:48 AM miss0r: I've made ALOT of PCBs on it :) Which is basically what I used it for. I had made some alu and brass parts on it as well. Its quite rigid for its size
01:49 AM miss0r: The biggest issue as I see it, it that is uses some proprietary software to run it. and that software is not exactly new :D
01:49 AM miss0r: anyway. If anyone in here is interrested in it, you can have it for 250usd. (postage not included) It is located in Denmark
03:44 AM travis_farmer[m]: Morning ☕️
04:36 AM Tom_L: morning
05:30 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:45 AM miss0r: 'ello
05:49 AM miss0r: I wonder where/on what platform I should put my CAMM-3 PNC-3100 cnc desktop mill for sale - have any of you guys got an idea?
06:19 AM JT-Cave: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/54-user-exchange
08:19 AM * travis_farmer[m] just got a ULINE catalog... apparently i am the Manager of the Shipping Department, so the label says... :-)
08:40 AM JT-Cave: congratulations
08:43 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, I've been having a P0492 Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 2 and have tried cleaning the secondary air check valve on bank 2 a few times but I keep getting it.
08:44 AM JT-Cave: yesterday I felt a bit spirited and ran through 1-3 up to 5k a few times and I'll be damn the check engine light went off
09:22 AM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: so, you're still alive? how ya feelin?
09:24 AM travis_farmer[m]: tested negative yesterday! :-) feeling great, but i lack the endurance i used to have.
09:25 AM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: slow and easy for at least another week or so....
09:26 AM travis_farmer[m]: yes, exactly.
09:26 AM travis_farmer[m]: yesterday me and my father cleaned out shop, and it winded both of us
09:44 AM JT-Shop: I got winded many times digging out the broken bit at the well...
09:45 AM travis_farmer[m]: yeah, but your old... (kidding) ;-)
09:46 AM travis_farmer[m]: yeah, my father is 72, so he gets winded anyway. covid isn't helping him one bit.
09:57 AM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: did ya get the plumbing fixed?
09:58 AM JT-Shop: yeah, still have a bit of sediment in the pipes but it's slowly clearing up
10:00 AM roguish[m]: any filters? sub-micron??? uv sterilization?
10:01 AM roycroft: congratulations on the negative test, travis_farmer
10:01 AM JT-Shop: 20 micron pre-filter then parallel 5 micron filters
10:01 AM travis_farmer[m]: thanks :-)
10:02 AM roguish[m]: that's pretty good.
10:02 AM JT-Shop: now to figure out how to hold the bowl after chipping and cracking the base
10:07 AM roycroft: that sounds like a challenge, jt-shop
10:10 AM JT-Woodshop: I just chucked on the outside and I'll have to do some finish work on the base to clean up the marks
10:43 AM * JT-Shop goes for his annual echo
11:07 AM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: full stress test, or just a simple echo?
11:08 AM roguish[m]: a full stress test echo is tough
12:05 PM roycroft: https://www.gregklassen.com/
12:05 PM roycroft: i like some of his stuff a lot
12:06 PM roycroft: when he does "river" tables he uses glass for the river, not epoxy pours
12:18 PM Unterhaus__: his woodwork with glass is really nice, so I went down a rabbit hole of how to cut glass
12:29 PM roycroft: i've done some stained glass work
12:30 PM roycroft: it's not easy to get really clean complex curved cuts like that
12:30 PM roycroft: i have a diamond grinder to clean the edges up, but that's pretty tedious work
12:30 PM roycroft: it takes a whole lot of skill and patience to cut pieces like that guy is using
12:31 PM roycroft: a lot more than just doing a f*****g epoxy pour :)
12:33 PM roycroft: but seriously, his glass "rivers" enhance the surrounding wood, while the epoxy is usually the focal point of a pedestrian river table
12:40 PM Unterhaus__: I have some slabs from a tree with bark inclusions down the middle that I would like to make a table from
12:40 PM Unterhaus__: I'll probably stick with my initial plan of filling the bigger gaps with curly maple
12:40 PM Unterhaus__: It took me a while to realize the two pieces of wood fit together
12:41 PM Unterhaus__: my BiL cut down a maple and had it kiln dried
12:41 PM Unterhaus__: not maple, walnut
12:42 PM roycroft: i don't have a problem with filling bark inclusions, knots, and other defects with epoxy
12:42 PM roycroft: those can be interesting features
12:43 PM roycroft: it's when the epoxy becomes the main feature that i start losing interest in a piece
12:44 PM roycroft: if you're tinting the epoxy, and the tint is not brown or black, it's likely not going to excite me :)
12:46 PM JT-Shop: roguish[m], just an echo
12:47 PM JT-Shop: results are heart strong, circulation good, sticky valve still sticky but won't affect anything... see you next year
12:47 PM JT-Shop: oh and blood pressure good
12:47 PM travis_farmer[m]: :-)
12:48 PM Tom_L: i might be running a quart low
12:49 PM JT-Shop: yikes
12:49 PM JT-Shop: I can't afford to loose any being a bit anemic
12:50 PM Tom_L: naw it's probably all there...
12:50 PM Tom_L: i could eat healthier which i have been doing lately
12:51 PM roycroft: someone on ebay is selling individual 10x50 dominos for $0.99 each, plus $5.05 shipping
12:52 PM roycroft: i should say, someone has listed them at that price
12:52 PM roycroft: i find it hard to believe that any of them have sold
12:52 PM CloudEvil: That's a really tiny pizza.
12:53 PM Tom_L: there's a sucker born every minute
12:53 PM roycroft: a pack of 85 is $31, with free shipping
12:53 PM roycroft: so ~$0.365 each
12:54 PM roycroft: and they go down to $0.23 each if you buy a pack of 510
12:54 PM roycroft: and yeah, those are odd quantities
12:54 PM roycroft: must be a metric conversion thing :)
12:55 PM Tom_L: 28 58 91
12:55 PM roycroft: they probably do it by weight
12:55 PM roycroft: 85 probably weigh 0.5kg, and 510 weigh 3kg
12:58 PM roycroft: or maybe 85 weigh 1kg and 510 weigh 6kg - that seems more likely to me, having never weighed dominos before
02:24 PM Rab: Greg Klassen: "With the success of my original designs, regretfully, my work has become widely imitated, a matter currently being addressed accordingly."
02:25 PM Rab: Sounds vaguely ominous. I hope he means addressed through his Certificate of Authenticity program, rather than via litigation.
02:27 PM Rab: Seems to me that the bar of producing similar work is high enough that anybody putting in the effort should be able to market their own work (not as Greg Klassen obv).
03:00 PM Connor: What type of diode do I need for flyback? I have 1N4004, SCR, 1 AMP, 400v. Inductive load is 3 watts @ 24v = 125ma
03:01 PM Connor: This will be used on a MESA 7i76e
03:10 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:11 PM roycroft: well bummer
03:11 PM roycroft: the faux news-dominion case has been settled
03:12 PM travis_farmer[m]: that is unfortunate....
03:12 PM roycroft: however, there are still investigations underway that may result in criminal charges against fox
03:12 PM roycroft: but yeah, i think we needed a full-blown trial on that casae
03:12 PM roycroft: if it's been settled, it was for a buttload of money
03:12 PM roycroft: probalby at least $1 billion
03:15 PM roycroft: and still not a word about the case on foxnews.com
03:15 PM XXCoder: good idea to not discuss about case while in court on it
03:15 PM XXCoder: so it makes sense not to talk about it
03:16 PM roycroft: but the case is over now
03:17 PM XXCoder: might be part of agreement terms not to talk on news
03:17 PM roycroft: a settlement was the obvious and logical result - the overwhelming majority of civil cases are settled before trial - but it's still disappointing
03:17 PM XXCoder: I dislike fox news by a lot, but who knows what was agreed to there
03:18 PM roycroft: in more pertinent news, i was pricing sheet goods at lunch today
03:18 PM roycroft: baltic birch ply had come way down in price, but now it's at an all-time high
03:19 PM roycroft: it was $249 (with my discount) for 18mm, and $229 for 12mm
03:20 PM XXCoder: crazy :(
03:20 PM XXCoder: its almost cheaper to make your own ply
03:20 PM XXCoder: web
03:20 PM roycroft: yeah, i might switch to cabinet grade hardwood plywood
03:20 PM roycroft: it's cheaper than baltic birch these days
03:47 PM roguish[m]: roycroft: so fox settled?
03:47 PM JT-Woodshop: it's a good plan to check your welding helmet battery level before striking an arc
03:55 PM JT-Woodshop: makes you think of Manfred Mann when you can see again
03:58 PM roguish[m]: JT-Woodshop: how about 'I can see clearly now.....'
04:01 PM JT-Woodshop: lol
04:01 PM JT-Woodshop: not yet
04:13 PM Tom_L: welding in the woodshop could be dangerous
04:16 PM JT-Shop: it's still a welding shop on one side :)
04:17 PM * Rowow[m] uploaded an image: (1374KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/OTrzLqDfffOCgzTCzqYhGdvr/PXL_20230418_211501441.jpg >
04:17 PM Rowow[m]: Adding more battery storage to my solar system
04:17 PM Rowow[m]: If you are interested batteryhookup has a bunch of these 48v modules for $80 a kwh
04:18 PM Rowow[m]: So much wiring though sigh
04:18 PM Rowow[m]: Waiting on more ring terminals from Amazon to finish
04:22 PM CloudEvil: Wish they'd ship inexpensively to the UK, but oh well
04:23 PM Rowow[m]: Isn't the UK cloudy, what's the solar panel efficiency over there compared to Florida
04:23 PM CloudEvil: I am in sunny scotland.
04:24 PM CloudEvil: I get about 950kWh/kWp for panels optimally fixed pointed
04:24 PM roycroft: clouds don't reduce insolation as much as is commonly thought
04:25 PM CloudEvil: Mid-florida, it's be 1500 or so
04:25 PM CloudEvil: https://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools/en/tools.html
04:26 PM roycroft: you have the advantage of much longer days in the summer than florida
04:26 PM CloudEvil: However, electrricity price is three times.
04:29 PM roycroft: 13 hours and 36 minutes of light in miami today, for example, vs. 15:56 in inverness today
04:29 PM Rowow[m]: Ah I see so it cancels out the reduced efficiency. Have you looked into used or damaged solar panels?
04:29 PM roycroft: and the difference will increase for a couple months
04:29 PM CloudEvil: https://www.bimblesolar.com/solar/solar-pallets/pallet-canadian-575w As to what's available
04:30 PM CloudEvil: The peak demand however is in the winter, not summer
04:31 PM Rowow[m]: Solar is so cheap that even 1/3 efficiency makes it cost effective, especially when your electricity is 3x more lol
04:31 PM XXCoder: last I heard it was really taking off in hawaii
04:32 PM XXCoder: power is quite expensive there
04:32 PM roycroft: you know where it's really taking off - in florida
04:33 PM Rowow[m]: That's pretty good. Especially for new
04:33 PM Rowow[m]: Each time I look at solar panels they get cheaper and cheaper lol
04:33 PM roycroft: and it will continue to take off in florida until desantis starts building prisons next to every solar panel
04:34 PM Rowow[m]: Yeah and I love the used/damaged solar panel market. I can get panels for $20 that are cracked/holes, half the efficiency but still dirt cheap. Built a carport from them, cheaper than if I bought metal sheeting lol
04:35 PM Rowow[m]: Not sure why desantis would build prisons. Very hilarious when out of state people complain about our governor
04:35 PM Rowow[m]: Census clearly proves that others do too!
04:35 PM roycroft: perhaps you should ask him
04:35 PM Rowow[m]: Id like more people to hate on Florida again
04:35 PM Rowow[m]: Too many immigrants
04:36 PM roycroft: he's threatening to build one next to disney world
04:36 PM roycroft: the thinking seems to be "i'll build prisons next to things i don't like"
04:37 PM Rowow[m]: Not sure what the Disney world saga has to do with solar panels
04:37 PM Rowow[m]: That's more of a debate on state vs government and how Disney has been giving lots of privileges and tax exemptions that any other buisness doesn't deal with
04:37 PM roycroft: no, it's all about teh gay
04:37 PM roycroft: 100% about teh gay
04:37 PM roycroft: but anyway
04:38 PM roycroft: i don't hate florida
04:38 PM roycroft: i was raised not to hate
04:38 PM roycroft: i just laugh at florida :)
04:38 PM Rowow[m]: 🤦
04:38 PM roycroft: and appreciate that i live about as far away from florida as one can live and still be in the continental united states
04:38 PM Rowow[m]: Ok
04:38 PM Rowow[m]: Do whatever you want just stay out of here and tell your friends to stop coming here
04:38 PM roycroft: i've never told anyone to go there
04:39 PM roycroft: nor to stay away from there
04:39 PM Rowow[m]: Well do a better job at it
04:39 PM Rowow[m]: Cause too many people are comming
04:39 PM roycroft: i don't think that's my job
04:39 PM ano[m]: Hi everyone,... (full message at <https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/libera.chat/7a99e602dce80ca287414fb13a3756e73aa60774>)
04:40 PM Rowow[m]: I mean if ur gonna laugh at the ship everyone is running to while you're is sinking it kinda is unless you want to be a hypocrite
04:40 PM XXCoder: you are is ship?
04:40 PM * roycroft did not understand that at all
04:40 PM Rowow[m]: Arg I'm a pirate
04:40 PM roycroft: but that's ok
04:40 PM Rowow[m]: Sorry I forgot age makes learning hard
04:41 PM Rowow[m]: Wym by training ui
04:41 PM Rowow[m]: Can you show a example
04:42 PM JT-Woodshop: someone needs a twitter account...
04:42 PM XXCoder: ano[m]: you mean something like set motions via ui then set it to run?
04:42 PM roycroft: the cbc have just quit twitter
04:44 PM Rowow[m]: Arguing on Twitter is like stealing candy from a baby. Each time I look at comment sections on elons or others tweets I cringe so hard. Love him but it's pretty cringe some of his followers lol
04:45 PM Rowow[m]: YouTube sadly is dying. Not sure what the next social media platform is
04:45 PM Rowow[m]: Currently TikTok but kinda hoping it gets killed so something better comes up
04:46 PM Rowow[m]: So just using discord to argue and reaffirm I'm right. Love it when I'm proven wrong so I can grow
04:46 PM ano[m]: yes, as a user I would start program to check for home. next I will go to the first position (let's say X50 Y10) and start welding output. then second position and so on. Finally save the g-code for all the above steps in a file, to be run by an operator.
04:47 PM XXCoder: interesting
04:47 PM XXCoder: dont know if there is such thing though
04:48 PM Rowow[m]: Isn't that the same as writing out the g code manually then copy and pasting from the terminal history
04:49 PM Rowow[m]: Or just do it directly into a word sheet
04:52 PM ano[m]: Yes, could probably do it manually. What would be the best UI for it ? want it to be as simple as possible.
04:58 PM ano[m]: Is there any similar project setup that I could use as a template?
04:58 PM * JT[m] uploaded an image: (288KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/BYgsSKuWdeRBituGeUxQjNhe/20230418_165718.jpg >
04:59 PM JT-Woodshop: ano[m], your wanting to save the positions to a file to later run?
05:00 PM ano[m]: yes
05:00 PM Rowow[m]: The default axis GUI works great for that
05:00 PM JT-Woodshop: https://github.com/jethornton/position-logger
05:01 PM Rowow[m]: Does this export it as a file or creates a macro automatically
05:01 PM JT-Woodshop: ano[m], hmm that's the old version
05:01 PM JT-Woodshop: https://github.com/jethornton/emclog
05:02 PM JT-Woodshop: that's the latest version
05:02 PM JT-Woodshop: https://jethornton.github.io/emclog/
05:03 PM JT-Woodshop: instructions are pretty terse lol
05:05 PM JT-Woodshop: Rowow[m], macro?
05:09 PM Rowow[m]: pretty much saves a custom set of g codes to a button on the screen.
05:09 PM Rowow[m]: not sure if linuxcnc has something like that but a machine at my old job did.
05:09 PM Rowow[m]: was nice in stuff like skinning the table/etc (was a fancy automated router table for cabinets)
05:12 PM Rowow[m]: otherwise alot of work to save 1-2 extra clicks on the screen to pullup a file
05:15 PM ano[m]: lol yes. I found a thread though.
05:15 PM ano[m]: thanks. will have to play around with it.
05:30 PM XXCoder: oh yes
05:30 PM XXCoder: jt nice work so far on bowl
05:33 PM JT-Shop: thanks
09:00 PM Tom_L: UPS has suspended substantially all operations in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia
09:01 PM roycroft: that is probably a prudent thing for them to do
09:01 PM Tom_L: Miami is running out of fuel
09:02 PM XXCoder: yeah. delivery to warzone isnt great idea
09:02 PM XXCoder: before it would run out of fuel, now it WILL run out of fuel. gonna love people who rush to fuel and fill shopping bags with fuel
09:03 PM Tom_L: after historic flooding led to a gas shortage
09:04 PM Tom_L: you could read 5 stories and get 5 different answers
09:04 PM roycroft: speaking of which, i saw diesel for $3.88 today
09:04 PM roycroft: after it had shot up to $4.79 last week
09:05 PM roycroft: i was in my car, though
09:05 PM Tom_L: carry a bucket with you
09:05 PM roycroft: hopefully the price will hold for another day so i can fuel up tomorrow
09:05 PM XXCoder: shopping bags ;)
09:05 PM Tom_L: i saw a lady the other day walk up to the pump with a HD 5 gal bucket and fill it
09:06 PM roycroft: that's illegal, at least here
09:06 PM Tom_L: kinda makes ya wonder what her intentions were
09:06 PM roycroft: no filling station would have filled her bucket
09:06 PM Tom_L: i agree
09:06 PM Tom_L: well lucky for her self serve is a popular thing
09:07 PM XXCoder: roy its still the case that only workers can refuel stuff?
09:09 PM roycroft: we have had limited self-serv in some rural areas in eastern oregon for a couple years
09:09 PM roycroft: and because of the pandemic, that is likely going to expand state-wide
09:09 PM roycroft: nobody wants to work at a filling station, so many have shortend their hours due to lack of workers
09:09 PM Tom_L: most everything here is self serve
09:09 PM roycroft: self-serve would alleviate that problem somewhat
09:10 PM XXCoder: oregon was one of rare states disallowing self service.
09:10 PM roycroft: oh, and it's been legal for diesel to be self-serve for decades
09:10 PM Tom_L: they used to come out, check your oil, fill your tank, check your tires and clean the windows all with a smile
09:11 PM roycroft: oregon and new jersey are the two states left that do not have self-serve
09:11 PM roycroft: and as i was just explaining, we're somewhat shifting towards it
09:11 PM roycroft: which is kind of ironic, because it's been this way for 100 years, and now that we're about to transition away from fossil fuels we're legalizing self-serve
