04:38 AM Tom_L: that bridge isn't very stable
04:39 AM XXCoder: think server bridge is on went down
04:48 AM Deejay_ is now known as Deejay

04:53 AM EtherCatSadGuy[m is now known as JT3196[m]
05:37 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:37 AM XXCoder: yo
06:00 AM Vvega[m]: Ok so , what is the disadvantage of tuning step/ dir co yrol@for the spindle
06:01 AM Vvega[m]: Slow speed control with 0-10v is a bit average
06:47 AM EtherCatSadGuy[m is now known as JT3196[m]
07:17 AM travis_farmer[m]: Morning 👀
09:54 AM Norfreakz[m]: hi guys, im trying to get qtDragon working on the release version for raspberry pi. I have now installed qtvcp, but when i try to launch linuxcnc i get an error of "no module named qt_ngcgui.ngcgui"
09:54 AM Norfreakz[m]: have any of you seen this error before?
10:04 AM _unreal_: Norfreakz[m], I believe I had that same issue but on pc and its been 2 years since I messed with it :/ But I had others givin me a hand to correct it.
10:18 AM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: hey, you're still alive........
10:18 AM travis_farmer[m]: yes, i am :-)
10:18 AM roguish[m]: [Norfreakz](https://matrix.to/#/@_discord_203828305495982080:jauriarts.org) are you trying to run ngcgui inside qtdragon?
10:19 AM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: I finally got 2 neg tests. so i'm all clear........
10:19 AM travis_farmer[m]: roguish: i will take one later and see if i am neg :-)
10:20 AM roguish[m]: I waited 2 days after finishing the Paxlovid, and feeling lots better.
10:20 AM roguish[m]: didn't want to waste those expensive tests.
10:22 AM travis_farmer[m]: i feel much better now, than i did :-)
10:22 AM roguish[m]: coool
10:25 AM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: check the official CDC guidelines. they're updated....
10:31 AM roguish[m]: Norfreakz: if you want ngcgui within qtdragon, you have to call for it in the [DISPLAY] section of your .ini file. if you don't want it, don't put it in the .ini. see this: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/gui/qtvcp-widgets.html#sub:qtvcp:widgets:qt-ngcgui
10:33 AM Norfreakz[m]: i'l try not having it in my INI file, i tried to follow the example from qtvcps manual pages, i dont know how i didnt notice it. Thanks!
10:34 AM roguish[m]: Norfreakz: it actually works pretty good. I have included a couple of routines in my qtdragon.
10:35 AM roguish[m]: good luck
10:36 AM Norfreakz[m]: thanks! i originally thought the switch from axis to qtdragon was going to be almost as easy as changing the display value.
10:36 AM skunkworks[m]: I love axis... 🙂
10:39 AM Tom_L: 2nd that
10:40 AM roguish[m]: all the gui's have there differences. qtdragon is really meant for a touch screen. you can use it without, but it's clumsy 'cause it doesn't have all the axis keyboard commands.
10:40 AM roguish[m]: what ever floats your boat....
10:43 AM Norfreakz[m]: i was thinking i should try them all, so i could get a feel for which one i liked the most, but yeah, it seems like axis is the one i like the most
10:43 AM travis_farmer[m]: i keep thinking i will go back to axis...
10:47 AM dudul[m]: Hi guys
10:47 AM dudul[m]: Why does servo speed go higher than home_latch_vel and home_search_vel during homing ?
10:47 AM dudul[m]: I am using cia402 delta a2 with a linear encoder
10:55 AM jpa-: dudul[m]: is the speed correct and stable during normal operation?
10:56 AM jpa-: also, the units are "machine-units per second"
10:58 AM skunkworks[m]: so in/sec or mm/sec
11:02 AM dudul[m]: Yes it is correct during normal operation.
11:02 AM dudul[m]: Mm/s
11:02 AM dudul[m]: And i have st the parameter of cia402.0.pos-scale to servo driver s 1rev total pulses/ ball screw pitch
11:02 AM dudul[m]: Cia402.0.Vel-scale is 5
11:03 AM dudul[m]: Driver has 1,280,000 pulse per rev
11:03 AM dudul[m]: Motor encoder is 2500 pulse/rev
11:03 AM dudul[m]: Ballscrew is 5mm/rev
11:07 AM * JT-Cave uses Axis or Mill Touch 7
11:25 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, pull mesact2 and try running it on the armhf again when you get a chance
11:25 AM Tom_L: ok, lemme finish my sammich
11:31 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/mesact2/mesact2_warning.png
11:31 AM Tom_L: except there are no updates for me
11:42 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, where did you get the preempt-rt for buster?
11:47 AM JT-Shop: for the rpi?
11:48 AM JT-Shop: at least you know now why it won't run
11:48 AM Tom_L: yeah, i found a sd with buster from the rpi site
11:48 AM Tom_L: the ones i have were from a debian site
11:48 AM Tom_L: and i can't remember which one now :/
11:49 AM JT-Shop: I think I have debian 11 on the rpi, I'd have to check when I get back
11:49 AM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/rpi4-11.html
11:49 AM Tom_L: i thought i had these all backed up but can't find that now either
11:49 AM Tom_L: guess i've slept too much
11:49 AM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/rpi4-11-emc.html
11:49 AM JT-Shop: bbib
11:49 AM Tom_L: i'm afk soon anyway
12:04 PM ithe2guu[m]: Ok, so i need to feed 12V into the measa card?
12:04 PM Tom_L: what you need to do is read the manual for the mesa card you have
12:07 PM ithe2guu[m]: i do not see anything about this in the manual (why i am asking here)
12:10 PM Unterhaus_: most mesa cards are 5v, what are you proposing to feed 12v to?
12:11 PM Unterhaus_: which card?
12:32 PM antares-me[m] is now known as antares[m]
12:32 PM roycroft: field voltage can be up to 24v on mesa cards, iirc
01:20 PM travis_farmer[m]: well, 7 days since my positive test... tested again, and the test was so positive, the sample was a darker line than the control...
01:20 PM travis_farmer[m]: i feel fine...
01:20 PM Rab: I heard it can take about two weeks to clear out.
01:22 PM travis_farmer[m]: Hmmm... but i have stuff to do ... :-(
02:03 PM skunkworks[m]: check the cdc.. I think you can go back to normal after so much time without symptoms.
02:15 PM JT-Shop: ithe2guu[m], what board
02:43 PM roguish[m]: travis_farmer: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/isolation.html
03:11 PM CloudEvil: Many cases are now asymptomatic, even ones where the person was infectious.
03:30 PM roycroft: that's been the case since the start, cloudevil, which is one reason the pandemic was so difficult to manage
03:30 PM CloudEvil: Not quite as badly as it was.
03:30 PM CloudEvil: is
03:33 PM roycroft: well the natural evolution of a virus is to be come more infectious and less harmful to the host
03:33 PM roycroft: that's how it best survives
03:34 PM Vvega[m]: This is the way
03:35 PM Vvega[m]: If only as a society we could figure out how to be less harmful to our host
04:00 PM roycroft: so it looks like i screwed up
04:00 PM roycroft: i need to fuel my pickup at some point, and diesel has been slowing going down in price
04:00 PM roycroft: it went down to $3.99/gallon early this week - the first time it's been under $4.00 in a very long time
04:01 PM roycroft: i was going to go fill the tank this weekend, but today it went up to $4.79
04:02 PM * travis_farmer[m] hasn't filled his truck in weeks... maybe months...
04:02 PM roycroft: i haven't fueled the pickup since december
04:02 PM roycroft: i don't drive it that much
04:02 PM travis_farmer[m]: nor i...
04:02 PM roycroft: and when i fueled it in december i paid $5.69
04:03 PM travis_farmer[m]: i paid less than that ;-) (gas)
04:03 PM roycroft: i still have a quarter tank, so i'm ok for a while
04:03 PM travis_farmer[m]: half
04:03 PM roycroft: that's at least 150 miles
04:03 PM travis_farmer[m]: but i bet your tank is bigger
04:04 PM roycroft: 40 gallons
04:04 PM travis_farmer[m]: 32G, i think
04:04 PM roycroft: i should be good for at least another month
04:05 PM roycroft: so if diesel goes down again soon i'll head out right away
04:05 PM roycroft: it will go way up after memorial day
04:05 PM travis_farmer[m]: i only drive to appointments and take trash to dump
04:05 PM roycroft: as i said, i don't use my pickup too much
04:05 PM roycroft: but i do like to drive it once/week, long enough to warm it up and top off the battery charge
04:07 PM roycroft: now that the weather is somewhat spring-like, and the vehicle is easier to start, it doesn't take as long to warm up and recharge the batteries
04:07 PM roycroft: it takes three glow plug cycles in the winter to start it, but only one the rest of the year
04:07 PM roycroft: in mid-summer i suspect i won't need the glow plugs at all, but i've not owned it during a summer yet, so i'm not sure
04:37 PM JT-Woodshop: changed the ignition switch on the hoe and it still won't start...
04:46 PM Tom_L: kick it
04:47 PM Tom_L: i had a coil go out on something last season
04:48 PM JT-Woodshop: the ignition switch seems to be electrically correct... the start button seems to be shorted but not passing current
04:48 PM JT-Woodshop: the hoe is not a high priority atm
04:51 PM JT-Woodshop: flushed the secondary air system check valve for bank 2 by itself today... find out tomorrow if I get the check engine light again
04:52 PM JT-Woodshop: next step is to take the intake manifold off and replace the check valve
04:52 PM * JT-Woodshop wonders why they hid it behind the engine when bank 1 is out in the open and easy to get to
05:01 PM JT-Woodshop: roycroft, changing the blade on the pm1500 is so much better than the rikon, quick, fast and accurate
05:12 PM Tom_L: hope that's not as bad as the tranny
05:12 PM Tom_L: i wouldn't think so
05:13 PM JT-Woodshop: wiring is pretty simple on the hoe
05:13 PM Tom_L: the vette
05:13 PM JT-Woodshop: I knew
05:13 PM JT-Woodshop: oh the check valve...
05:13 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:14 PM JT-Woodshop: intake manifold and throttle body is pretty easy to r&r
05:14 PM JT-Woodshop: easier than my truck for sure
05:14 PM JT-Woodshop: did the truck twice for rat damage
05:14 PM Tom_L: fun
05:15 PM JT-Woodshop: find out tomorrow when we go to River Ridge Winery
05:15 PM JT-Woodshop: hmm there are a pair of keys on this "desk" wonder what they are for?
05:21 PM * JT-Woodshop wanders to the machine shop to watch Leo and Pete
07:00 PM Unterhaus_: It has been so long since I bought gas that I forgot how to open the port
07:41 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:45 PM roycroft: another day, another botched amazon order
08:45 PM roycroft: i wonder if jeffe bezos is getting business management advice from elon musk now
09:37 PM skunkworks[m]: Now now.. You know they are estranged...
09:52 PM roycroft: i was being kind there
09:52 PM roycroft: i could have suggested he was getting advice from the former president
09:52 PM roycroft: but i would never say that about anybody
