12:17 AM CaptHindsight[m]: XXCoder: i could not find anything on IchGucksLive on the wayback machine
12:27 AM XXCoder: yeah youtube archiving started later
12:27 AM XXCoder: so sadly none of videos was saved
12:27 AM XXCoder: not sure but think they started at 2021 or so
12:27 AM CaptHindsight[m]: his grandson really wanted to delete every spec of him online
12:27 AM XXCoder: im still not sure why
12:27 AM XXCoder: i remember some student uploaded some videos but not many
12:27 AM CaptHindsight[m]: break the curse?
12:27 AM CaptHindsight[m]: almost felt like it was something extreme
12:52 AM Deejay: moin
03:29 AM travis_farmer[m]: G'Morning ☕️ the evil white stuff seems to be falling from the sky...
04:28 AM solarwind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXvaZImOTbc is he seriously not understanding that the little ridge inside the collar is for holding the collet?
04:28 AM solarwind: or am I misunderstanding?
04:29 AM solarwind: I know the video is supposed to be a joke, but the beginning where he's trying to get the collet engaged with the collar is a bit weird. You're supposed to attach it to the collar first, right?
04:30 AM XXCoder: "ou're supposed to snap the collet into the nut first buddy... the eccentric pulls the collet out when you loosen the nut. This is by design in even the nicest of tool holders but then again... there was that one time in summer camp with a dewalt tool battery.."
04:30 AM XXCoder: comment there lol
04:30 AM XXCoder: what a shit cut
04:31 AM XXCoder: of course its ave
04:31 AM XXCoder: I dropped that channel ages ago
04:35 AM solarwind: Oh, you're right. The new youtube design doesn't load comments until you scroll down a bit.
04:36 AM XXCoder: whats he doing? been maching in yt for years and dont know to insert collet into nut first
04:37 AM Tom_L: morning
04:37 AM solarwind: that's what I'm wondering
04:37 AM solarwind: I thought he operates CNC machines and such, so he should definitely know better
04:37 AM solarwind: the rest of the video is obviously a joke
04:38 AM travis_farmer[m]: even i know to insert collet into nut first...
04:39 AM sensille: i remember it took me a while to figure it out :D
04:39 AM XXCoder: me too
04:40 AM XXCoder: if I wanted a mill (i do but bad time and space) id make one
04:40 AM XXCoder: millenium machining mill is a interesting project
05:16 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:16 AM JT-Cave: morning
06:12 AM beef[m]: Aw i'm jealous ... I like the snow
07:05 AM Tom_L: 15°F
07:05 AM Tom_L: 13°F
08:16 AM JT-Cave: 64°F
08:20 AM * travis_farmer[m] watches the movie "Down Periscope" again :-)
08:24 AM unterhaus: makita is coming out with a 40v cordless microwave
08:25 AM unterhaus: they already had a cordless coffee maker.
08:30 AM travis_farmer[m]: sounds like a good way to use up a LOT of batteries ;-)
08:30 AM roycroft: we've had cordless coffee makes for centuries
08:30 AM roycroft: and there is snow on the ground here
08:30 AM roycroft: but only about 2cm
08:31 AM travis_farmer[m]: 5 inches so far here
08:33 AM sensille: unterhaus: https://youtu.be/4xOEIpbxM4w (probably also holds for the microwave)
08:35 AM Lcvette[m]: <c101horse8332[m]> "IMG_20230222_193843.jpg" <- c101horse🇳🇱: grab a kurt dx6 vise and mount it sideways on the table. it can clamp up to 9" wide
08:35 AM * Lcvette[m] uploaded an image: (82KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/NFVFPuuyTKweEjapAURdwFrR/image.png >
08:36 AM Lcvette[m]: between maine jaws
08:36 AM Lcvette[m]: * between main jaws
08:38 AM Lcvette[m]: and on the outer jaws almost the full width of the G0704 travel
08:39 AM Lcvette[m]: plus, then you could clamp that baby vise in the kurt with some sine angle plates to get fancy
08:40 AM c101horse8332[m]: If i had Kurt money i wouldnt have asked😅
08:41 AM c101horse8332[m]: Brother in law has one of those, one battery per cup iirc
08:41 AM unterhaus: kurt clones are the same if you shop carefully
08:41 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:41 AM Lcvette[m]: have they cloned the dx6 yet?
08:41 AM Lcvette[m]: it was pretty special in its design
08:42 AM unterhaus: if your kitchen contractor shows up with a makita microwave and coffee maker, they are planning on staying a while
08:42 AM Lcvette[m]: i actually switched from a pair of kurt clones to real kurt DX6 vises for the opening capacity they offered
08:43 AM unterhaus: I think they have cloned it, but I haven't been shopping for vises recently
08:43 AM travis_farmer[m]: or they like coffee, and hot food...
08:46 AM Lcvette[m]: I will say, having had several clones and now having the real thing, i don't think i would buy anything but the kurt vises anymore, tey really hold up well and i have had none of the issues that i had with the clone versions.
08:46 AM Lcvette[m]: but the initial price punch is painful
08:48 AM unterhaus: I have heard that some of the better clones are very good. Also, there are clones with 9" jaw opening
08:48 AM unterhaus: If you are making money with it, the difference in price is probably meaningless
08:48 AM unterhaus: nothing worse than making something and realizing it's not right because of the vise
08:49 AM Lcvette[m]: i got mine on special with a coupon and free shipping and ended up with 2 new DX6's for $989.00 delivered. and i had to defend my case to all industrial to get them to honor the pric but they did\
08:49 AM Lcvette[m]: the quality clone vises are very close in price
08:49 AM unterhaus: $500 for a kurt is a decent price
08:49 AM unterhaus: doesn't seem to be commonly available though
08:50 AM Lcvette[m]: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUd6uu-Ag7f/?hl=en
08:50 AM Lcvette[m]: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUqq-puM7Be/?hl=en
08:50 AM Lcvette[m]: unterhaus: that is exactly why i bought them
08:51 AM Lcvette[m]: i cold not get consistent results on the clones clamping these parts which are spacers for the G0704 kits i sell and need to be flat and parallel
08:52 AM unterhaus: for a mere $3500, you can get a kurt with 10" opening
08:52 AM Lcvette[m]: i coiuldn't get them within 0.0015" without a lot of fuss
08:52 AM Lcvette[m]: the kurts repeat parralelism on the flip to under 0.0002"
08:53 AM * JT-Shop waits another 2 weeks...
08:54 AM Lcvette[m]: JT-Shop: still no internet?
08:54 AM Lcvette[m]: /o\
09:02 AM JT-Shop: that too...
09:02 AM Lcvette[m]: the vette?
09:02 AM Lcvette[m]: 😲
09:23 AM JT-Shop: yup the allocation list came out today and no C8
09:24 AM Lcvette[m]: /o\
09:42 AM * JT-Shop goes to get a 4x4
09:43 AM Lcvette[m]: truck or board
10:02 AM JT[m]: Board for handrail
10:03 AM JT[m]: My truck is AWD
10:29 AM JT[m]: $8.88 for a 4x4x8, not bad
10:41 AM unterhaus: lumber prices mostly back to normal. I hope some lumber futures speculators lost everything
10:42 AM roycroft: baltic birch plywood is still astronomically expensive
10:42 AM roycroft: and probably always will be, thanks to the war
10:43 AM unterhaus: yeah, we used to be able to get russian ply for very good prices
10:43 AM unterhaus: nice stuff
10:44 AM unterhaus: no voids, which is a bit of a surprise for a russian product
10:47 AM unterhaus: The plywood place called it 'russian ply.' I'm not sure if it always came from Russia, but they had more expensive plywood that came from other european countries
10:47 AM unterhaus: $32 for a 5' by 5' sheet
10:48 AM unterhaus: 19mm
10:52 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:53 AM roycroft: 19mm bb ply is still $175 here
10:54 AM roycroft: and the story behind bb plywood is that it is manufactured in finland and the baltic states, but the birch comes from russia
11:09 AM skunkworks[m]: Think the snow is finally done here.
11:10 AM skunkworks[m]: I think we used to use Baltic birch here for our die boards.. I don't think we do anymore..
11:12 AM unterhaus: what do you use instead? It doesn't seem like most ply would be suitable
11:12 AM roguish[m]1: roycroft: hey, is that pre-finished
11:14 AM skunkworks[m]: I could ask..
11:29 AM skunkworks[m]: originally we used maple plywood - then Birch from russia.. Now he thinks it from poland.
11:29 AM unterhaus: probably people sneaking wood through the border
11:29 AM roycroft: well, poland is right next to the baltics
11:29 AM roycroft: there could well be some bb ply manufactured there
11:31 AM unterhaus: I'm sure Ukraine was a source too, it's not like you have to be right on the water to grow baltic birch
11:31 AM unterhaus: although they are
11:37 AM JT-Shop: skunkworks[m], rule dies?
11:38 AM roguish[m]1: JT-Shop: hey, is your starlink still fritzed?
11:47 AM CaptHindsight[m]: yay for underground power! Ice storm knocked out half the area
11:47 AM skunkworks[m]: JT-Shop: yesw
11:47 AM skunkworks[m]: yes
11:48 AM roycroft: my utilities are undeground, for two blocks
11:48 AM roycroft: then they go up on the poles
11:50 AM JT-Shop: roguish[m]1, yes starlink is still down and no reply from tech support :(
11:52 AM JT-Shop: oh now I get our team is investigating and will resolve as soon as possible on the starlink app
11:52 AM skunkworks[m]: JT-Shop: yeck.. People say support is hit or miss... Dad has been lucky with no issues since he got into the beta,
11:54 AM CaptHindsight[m]: skunkworks: is his a pre gen3 system?
11:57 AM roguish[m]1: JT-Shop: didn't mean to kick an open sore
12:03 PM JT-Shop: np
12:04 PM * JT[m] uploaded an image: (690KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/uQgIaooRIDokJnsYTNtzXBRx/20230223_120357_2054631665729516786.jpg >
12:05 PM JT[m]: Posts mounted
12:19 PM skunkworks[m]: CaptainHindsight yes. The round dish
12:19 PM skunkworks[m]: integrated eithernet
12:28 PM unterhaus: I should finish the fence around my garden before lumber prices go back up.
12:29 PM unterhaus: it's mostly to keep the dogs out. One of them likes to eat my dirt
12:36 PM unterhaus: they found some baby bunnies in there last year and they are ever hopeful of finding more
12:36 PM unterhaus: the bunnies did no damage to the garden at all. The same can't be said for the dogs
01:07 PM unterhaus: my wife would probably kill me if I spent money on my mill, but I am wondering about getting some Chinese servo motors
01:08 PM unterhaus: I'll tell her it's for my lathe, she probably wouldn't notice it's 3 motors instead of 2
01:10 PM pcw-home: A USB-Ethernet dongle is good for normal network stuff (if you don't have a slot)
01:29 PM unterhaus: I just looked into building one of my programs with VSCode. Not worth the effort
01:45 PM roycroft: so today's disaster is that my boss ported all our phone numbers to a new sip provider
01:45 PM roycroft: all at once, of course, because i told him to do one number, make sure it works, then do the rest
01:45 PM roycroft: he said they were all working with the new provider, and then they all broke at the same time, and that he changed nothing
01:46 PM roycroft: of course, i just found the problem - all the inbound routes had been changed and had no valid destinations
01:47 PM roycroft: even after all these years i have a hard time translating "i changed nothing" to "i made a bunch of random changes but i don't remember what i did, but they can't be the problem because i don't want them to be the problem"
01:47 PM Tom_L: leave it a while... it would be a quiet afternoon
01:47 PM roycroft: i fixed the main line
01:47 PM roycroft: now it's lunch time
01:47 PM roycroft: i'll fix the rest when i get back from lunch
01:56 PM unterhaus: you could get your own column on the register
01:57 PM unterhaus: or at least a regular guest writing position
01:58 PM unterhaus: they used to have a regular fictional column which sounds like your boss translated into british English
02:15 PM unterhaus: Okay, I was binging The Register's BOFH columns and I think that's where roycroft gets his stories
02:18 PM XXCoder: lol
02:18 PM XXCoder: bofh is just true stories with revenge fantasies
02:24 PM unterhaus: I'm sure RC gets his revenge but doesn't tell us for deniablity
02:32 PM unterhaus: But when I'm working on computers from now on, my go-to question is going to be, what would BOFh do?
02:33 PM unterhaus: is there an easy firmware for a ramps board? I was going to use marlin, but they messed it up
02:44 PM CaptHindsight[m]: marlin was written by devs upside down in front of a mirror on acid
02:45 PM CaptHindsight[m]: or maybe not not not not not yes
02:45 PM unterhaus: see, I don't want to have to write code while I'm on acid, much less upside down
02:46 PM unterhaus: this client is too cheap to buy decent electronics
02:46 PM unterhaus: he wastes money on mechanical stuff, nbd
02:47 PM unterhaus: Everything on a circuit board is a "microprocessor," as in "I don't spend that much on microprocessors"
02:47 PM unterhaus: I told him he needed a plc, "I don't spend that much on microprocessors"
02:48 PM CaptHindsight[m]: unterhaus: is your client roys boss?
02:48 PM unterhaus: not as bad, but he does have a big blind spot
02:48 PM unterhaus: he thinks he can write code for arduinos since he downloaded an example and it almost worked
02:49 PM CaptHindsight[m]: almost works is pretty much standard these days
02:49 PM unterhaus: I thought it worked okay and he just needed to tune some parameters
02:50 PM unterhaus: he didn't like the overshoot it gave him on his dc motor, so now everything has to be a stepper motor
02:51 PM unterhaus: Let's say I have met 85 year old electrical engineers that were better with code
02:56 PM unterhaus: I downloaded and ran grbl, I don't think that means I can program an arduino, but there may be special definitions in play
02:58 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:09 PM XXCoder: CaptHindsight[m]: agreed
03:09 PM XXCoder: when I was working on firmware upgrade for elcrapo, i found out basically all variables for setup had changed
03:09 PM XXCoder: wut
03:10 PM XXCoder: granted it was in early days when marlin was still pre-1.0, I was trying to upgrade from some old version to 1.0 rc
03:11 PM CaptHindsight[m]: XXCoder: lets move on and just forget marlin ever happened :)
03:11 PM XXCoder: lol
03:14 PM unterhaus: all the better firmware I find have problems. Namely they cost $50 instead of $25
03:15 PM unterhaus: I feel like overcharging him for some things and buying something that isn't going to be such a pain
03:16 PM CaptHindsight[m]: I wish you much sucess
03:17 PM unterhaus: amazingly he has gotten his hardware to work. So far I just do machining
03:17 PM unterhaus: which isn't really what I signed up for
03:18 PM XXCoder: machinist is at very high demend nowdays
03:18 PM XXCoder: too bad i cant work atm
03:18 PM unterhaus: I'm cheaper than machine shops
03:18 PM XXCoder: id probably be hired if i enter interview room with a endmill
03:18 PM unterhaus: but I'm not as good
03:19 PM unterhaus: mostly because my mill doesn't work
03:20 PM unterhaus: turning I do okay, but no threads atm.
03:21 PM unterhaus: someone on the sheldon list was asking to buy a gearbox. I thought about selling mine
03:26 PM unterhaus: interesting thread on the email list about sheetcam
03:30 PM unterhaus: what to do with your well-loved but somewhat obscure closed source software if you want to retire
03:33 PM JT-Shop: user list?
03:33 PM unterhaus: yes, user list
03:38 PM JT-Shop: darn I don't read that one
03:40 PM unterhaus: sourceforge has the archives
03:41 PM unterhaus: their format is awful, newest first https://sourceforge.net/p/emc/mailman/emc-users/?viewmonth=202302&viewday=23
03:42 PM unterhaus: never mind, here's a threaded version https://sourceforge.net/p/emc/mailman/emc-users/thread/3ffe24e6-8af4-fe4b-57c2-8f6c6896eb2e%40fastmail.co.uk/#msg37782119
03:42 PM roycroft: blizzard warnings in los angeles and ventura counties?
03:42 PM XXCoder: you made sheetcam?
03:42 PM roycroft: that is quite unusual
03:42 PM XXCoder: roy yeah weather is socking usa pretty hard now
03:43 PM XXCoder: my room reached 40f lol
03:43 PM XXCoder: i had a blackout in my room, so ac turned off and stayed off while I was asleep
03:43 PM roycroft: the snow has melted here, but there may be more coming tonight
03:43 PM unterhaus: we got sleet yesterday, warm temperatures today
03:44 PM JT-Shop: thanks
03:44 PM unterhaus: dogs are sad, no free snowcones
03:44 PM unterhaus: they love to eat snow
03:45 PM XXCoder: oh man eben a while while I last saw sheetcam while looking for cams
03:45 PM unterhaus: I guess he wants to quit supporting users, which I can understand
03:46 PM XXCoder: yeah most people do want to retire evenuallu
03:46 PM unterhaus: people are the worst
03:47 PM unterhaus: needs to work on community support
03:47 PM XXCoder: i remember old site helldesk, its about support stories
03:48 PM XXCoder: man some people is just horrible to support workers
03:48 PM unterhaus: like we sit here all day with IRC open just to help people out if needed
03:48 PM unterhaus: and then we complain about people that ask questions
03:48 PM unterhaus: circle of life
03:53 PM Tom_L: we run a few off now and then
03:54 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, you probably haven't been able to work on mesact2 any?
03:59 PM unterhaus: Lcvette here?
04:00 PM JT-Shop: not much Tom_L
04:00 PM XXCoder: Lcvette[m]:
04:02 PM unterhaus: I decided to run his installer without him and see what happens
04:02 PM unterhaus: I think it's downloading everything on github
04:02 PM XXCoder: its good test to see how well instructions is written
04:04 PM unterhaus: first thing it does is email him my banking information
04:04 PM unterhaus: suppose I should have read the script before I ran it
04:06 PM unterhaus: it actually worked, probe basic runs. Nobody tell him
04:06 PM XXCoder: it wont get out of my lips
04:07 PM unterhaus: probe basic on a big monitor is pretty annoying, can't move it
04:07 PM XXCoder: its whole screen?
04:07 PM unterhaus: no, there is room around it
04:07 PM unterhaus: but it's not a moveable window
04:07 PM Tom_L: 1080
04:08 PM unterhaus: you can bring other apps to the foreground though
04:08 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, few days ago before the disaster i posted some notes on it. dunno if you got them or not
04:09 PM JT-Shop: no, I've not see them
04:10 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~tom-itx/irc/logs/%23linuxcnc/2023-02-18.html
04:10 PM Tom_L: 10:26am
04:11 PM unterhaus: pretty cool, I would definitely think about using it if I could somehow get a machine running
04:12 PM JT-Shop: now to figure out how to send the notes to me down in the cave lol
04:12 PM Tom_L: there's the link :)
04:12 PM JT-Shop: if I have the usb wifi connected I don't have access to the lan
04:13 PM Tom_L: matrix has it right?
04:13 PM unterhaus: I feel like Elon found out that JT said something bad about teslas
04:26 PM JT-Shop: by episode 62 Leo has some nice Lie Nelson tools
04:27 PM unterhaus: episode 62 of what?
04:27 PM JT-Shop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rswOuvATmdA&list=PLB00JHoTw1TeX82Qw8hoFLRJI89Us_jMw
04:27 PM roycroft: episode of "leo's joful path to bankruptcy"
04:27 PM roycroft: joyful, rather
04:27 PM JT-Shop: all donated
04:29 PM roycroft: does that mean that if make things that look like boats instead of things that look like lamps people will donate expensive tools to me?
04:30 PM JT-Shop: only if you make nice videos
04:31 PM unterhaus: I think people might pay me to not make videos
04:31 PM XXCoder: unterhaus: sounds like designed for specific resolution screen
04:31 PM JT-Shop: lol
04:31 PM unterhaus: it is
04:31 PM XXCoder: 1080 like tom said maybe lol
04:31 PM unterhaus: yeah
04:31 PM unterhaus: they are unapologetic about it too
04:32 PM unterhaus: that hand planer leo is using is big
04:32 PM unterhaus: It doesn't look like he is having problems with it though
04:32 PM XXCoder: roy fake a boat using forced viewpoint
04:33 PM Tom_L: i doubt i could even build the one they stuck in the bottle for him
04:33 PM XXCoder: worjk few random wood and pretend its for boat
04:33 PM JT-Shop: lol
04:34 PM unterhaus: I watch boat building videos and want to make a boat. Then I remember gibbs had to tear down a wall to get his boat out of his basement and forget about it
04:34 PM XXCoder: lol
04:35 PM unterhaus: ^random ncis reference
04:35 PM XXCoder: yep
04:35 PM XXCoder: well its oppunity to add nice ramp to your basement lol
04:35 PM unterhaus: other things I want to make include airplanes
04:35 PM Tom_L: surprised the bird doesn't fly off
04:36 PM unterhaus: the criteria for buying a house was a walk-out basement
04:36 PM * JT-Shop didn't buy this house
04:36 PM unterhaus: but I don't think gibb's boat would have gone through my double doors either
04:36 PM XXCoder: funny thing is he, (actor) dont know anything wood, someone comes in and tells him what to say or do
04:36 PM XXCoder: as part of staging
04:36 PM unterhaus: JT, has the owner realized you are squatting in their house?
04:36 PM Tom_L: unterhaus, my friend's dad restored stearmans
04:37 PM JT-Shop: well I did buy the property
04:37 PM XXCoder: same guy also works on boat sometimes to progress it for scenes
04:37 PM XXCoder: otherwise it'd be same for years
04:37 PM Tom_L: unterhaus, he used to crop dust with them
04:37 PM XXCoder: probably one of slowest boat build but then "gibb" is very busy person
04:38 PM unterhaus: I don't think I would want to work on a crop duster
04:38 PM * JT-Shop is just trying to finish a bowl
04:38 PM XXCoder: smoke a bowl :P
04:38 PM unterhaus: I'm just trying to finish anything
04:38 PM XXCoder: kidding. is it that bunch of colors random wood bowl still?
04:38 PM unterhaus: "trying" may not be the word I'm looking for
04:38 PM Tom_L: my kid makes airplanes :)
04:39 PM unterhaus: I make airplanes, I guess I have even flown a few of them
04:39 PM JT-Shop: I used to make airplanes a lot
04:39 PM XXCoder: made a lot oif airplane parts, but never flown any
04:41 PM unterhaus: I used to tell people how to fix airplanes
04:41 PM unterhaus: Here's how it would go, "air conditioning doesn't work" "you have a bird in the heat exchanger"
04:41 PM unterhaus: that was an easy one
04:42 PM unterhaus: "no, I'm not going to come up to the hangar to look"
04:43 PM unterhaus: bird in the heat exchanger is a job you give to whoever screwed something up last, it's nasty
04:43 PM unterhaus: I was reminded recently I have a 1/5th scale Gee Bee R2 kit I haven't started on
04:44 PM unterhaus: I was obsessed with those planes when I was a kid
04:44 PM Tom_L: he had a lady that would come in and sew the wing material on then they would dope it
04:44 PM JT-Shop: wow a gee bee would be hard to fly
04:45 PM Tom_L: we used to have some plane around here that sounded similar to that... can't remember what it was now
04:47 PM Tom_L: https://kansassampler.org/8wondersofkansas-commerce/wichita-aviation-industry
04:47 PM Tom_L: not in that list..
04:48 PM Tom_L: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bede_Aircraft
04:48 PM Tom_L: that may have been it
04:49 PM JT-Shop: bd5 j was cool
04:50 PM Tom_L: they may not have been built here but i know i've seen several around here
04:53 PM unterhaus: up until the F4, the USAF would overhaul planes ever 2 years
04:53 PM unterhaus: it turned out they started that because after 2 years the fabric on planes would be so covered in patches it needed to be redone
04:53 PM Tom_L: i remember when those were stationed here
04:54 PM unterhaus: there were no access panels in the cloth, the mechanics would cut a hole and then sew on a patch
04:54 PM Tom_L: i think right now we have the tankers
04:54 PM Tom_L: i saw an AWAX here couple days ago
04:54 PM Tom_L: AWACS
04:54 PM unterhaus: we only get military planes on days when there are football games
04:55 PM Tom_L: i think they were stationed in OKC for a while, not sure about now
05:14 PM Tom_L: unterhaus, we had the blue angels here last summer
05:19 PM unterhaus: I hide my eyes when the blue angels are flying nearby, I think their motto is "safety last"
05:20 PM XXCoder: motto means they even thought of it in first place lol
05:21 PM unterhaus: when I saw them, they had forgotten a pin on the landing gear on one of the planes
05:21 PM unterhaus: I was embarrassed for them
05:21 PM XXCoder: geez
05:21 PM unterhaus: guy landed, they took out the pin and he took off again
05:22 PM Tom_L: i'd be more concerned about when they do the WWII dogfight here
05:22 PM XXCoder: if I was doing flight check, i would do it properly
05:22 PM XXCoder: then do it again because im sure i forgot something
05:23 PM unterhaus: I refuse to go to air shows, something about seeing a crash that doesn't appeal to me
05:23 PM Tom_L: we've had the snowbirds here as well
05:23 PM unterhaus: I thought you were near memphis
05:23 PM Tom_L: no
05:23 PM Tom_L: ks
05:24 PM unterhaus: no reason for the snowbirds to be in ks. expect to see them in arizona or somewhere warm
05:24 PM Tom_L: heh
05:24 PM unterhaus: snowbirds had a somewhat shady fatal crash last year, I think
05:25 PM XXCoder: i remember that show where "drunk guy" steals a plane
05:26 PM XXCoder: insane piloting
05:26 PM unterhaus: blue angels don't wear g suits either, for "safety"
05:26 PM unterhaus: they periodically lose a plane because of that
05:27 PM XXCoder: https://youtu.be/v0ViJfnOqPQ
05:31 PM unterhaus: someone on reddit asking what an ez-out is
05:32 PM unterhaus: cue 500 comments of people telling them it's an ez-out
05:32 PM JT-Shop: tell them it's a laxative
05:43 PM Tom_L: :)
05:43 PM unterhaus: it's a tub specific ez out, so it probably would work as a laxative of sorts
06:31 PM unterhaus: refrigerator leaks water when it's filling the icemaker
06:31 PM unterhaus: I'm going to have to take a nap back there to see what's leaking
06:55 PM XXCoder: nap there, interesting location

07:06 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:48 PM unterhaus: I figure it starts spraying water and it will wake me up
07:49 PM XXCoder: lol
08:02 PM roycroft: we have some ominous dark clouds floating overhead
08:02 PM roycroft: which may be both good and bad
08:03 PM roycroft: it may mean a lot of snow, but it also means we won't get minnesota cold tonight
08:14 PM XXCoder: fun
