12:26 AM CaptHindsight[m]: bartch: that looks a bit too rusty to get it running round again
12:32 AM XXCoder: wow pretty rusty
12:40 AM XXCoder: I guess in very least, precison cone inside have to be reground
12:40 AM XXCoder: external removed then processed to remove rust and possibly clean up again
12:41 AM XXCoder: cone assuming it is CAT type, but with cut off hmm there is few types that have that
12:43 AM bartch: ok ok
12:44 AM bartch: the cone part is of interest to me... since I am afraid nothing standard / adapters will fit
12:45 AM XXCoder: i cant find picture of inside
12:45 AM XXCoder: must be during that time I had to reboot pc
12:47 AM bartch: CaptHindsight: this is surface rust right?
12:47 AM bartch: if I reground it well, wouldn't it ?
12:47 AM bartch: everything else is sealed...
12:48 AM bartch: its a garage diy machine I'm building, I can live with some eccentricity and runout... or is it better to spend more for a chinese spindle?
12:49 AM XXCoder: you got pictures for inside spindle area?
12:49 AM bartch: no I would have to ask the seller
12:49 AM bartch: thats the best
12:49 AM XXCoder: so those 2 pictures is only ones you got?
12:49 AM bartch: the other pictures don't show well the inside
12:49 AM bartch: I can sent you all the pictures if you want .. .wait
12:51 AM bartch: https://imgur.com/a/ji09Nhi
12:53 AM bartch: there you go, a few pictures
12:53 AM bartch: I tried searching on setco website as well...this is too old of a model
12:54 AM bartch: I mean the reason I am interested is that it would be 300$ instead of 1200+$ ... but again maybe it is garbadge
12:54 AM XXCoder: yeah dont know
12:54 AM XXCoder: problem is unknown toolholder type
12:54 AM XXCoder: assuming it can be otherwise restored
12:55 AM bartch: yeah...
12:56 AM XXCoder: only results that match is well exactly that ebay site
12:57 AM bartch: yup
12:57 AM bartch: I've done a complete net search lol
12:57 AM bartch: so I though maybe someone here worked with those
01:02 AM bartch: I wanted to stay away from those cheap chinese spindles... I already have an italian er25 spindle.. but I wanted to get something more powerful with bt40/cat40 tooling
01:02 AM XXCoder: well from what I see there it probably isnt the answer
01:03 AM XXCoder: unless you can make parts to just swap the toolholder part of it
01:03 AM XXCoder: convert it to cat30 or something essentally. but is that worth work eh
01:03 AM bartch: hmmm
01:03 AM bartch: yeah..
01:06 AM bartch: then: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225033730169 ... something like that... however how hard would it be to mount / make a mount for one of these? assuming I can't find the original
01:11 AM bartch: at least the tool holder part is standard...
01:11 AM bartch: and it looks in better shape
01:12 AM XXCoder: which standard?
01:12 AM bartch: cat40
01:13 AM XXCoder: really? it looks like it just stops
01:13 AM bartch: this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225033730169
01:13 AM bartch: not the old rusted one...
01:13 AM XXCoder: ahh
01:15 AM bartch: or: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275191092369
01:16 AM XXCoder: that has indention ready for tool changer
01:16 AM XXCoder: corsel type
01:17 AM bartch: I am looking for cat40/bt40 spindle.. belt driven.. in ok condition, preferably not too expensive for a garage build... I'd prefer staying away from those chinese castings and fake bearing spindles
01:17 AM bartch: which one, the last one?
01:17 AM XXCoder: latest link, third picture
01:17 AM bartch: ok yeah
01:18 AM bartch: its a nice to have, I have no toolchanger yet
01:28 AM XXCoder: no idea how complex building and maintance would be like
01:28 AM XXCoder: big machiens I used to run thats it.
01:30 AM jpa-: have you found a nice table yet? it seems the most annoying component because weights so much that shipping costs a lot
01:30 AM jpa-: i'm currently going with aluminum profiles but they are pretty flimsy
01:30 AM bartch: those types of spindles are mounted in cast iron usually no?
01:31 AM XXCoder: probably can get away with extruded steel squares for table, though yeah still weaker even if you fill em
01:31 AM bartch: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32724988639.html ... has an example..
01:31 AM XXCoder: good chance you will need grind those
01:32 AM jpa-: pretty rough casting there
01:32 AM bartch: can't you find a table around you on craigslist or something?
01:33 AM jpa-: so far not in a suitable size
01:33 AM bartch: chinese casting on aliexpress ... what'd you expect
01:33 AM bartch: yeah Ive been looking for tables as well... 500$+ shipping
01:34 AM bartch: but I just found a rusted old mill a guy would sell me... and it has beatiful table... but weight over 1200lbs...
01:37 AM jpa-: sensille: btw, the aliexpress 3d probe arrived; build quality is very nice, i expect it will easily perform to the +-0.02mm that my spindle runout permits; the connector feels a bit weak so might break at some point
01:39 AM sensille: jpa-: mine arrived too, but i haven't mounted it yet. i never used one, so there's a lot to learn :-)
02:54 AM sensille: can i somehow kill a hanging halrun?
03:10 AM Deejay: moin

10:22 AM synfinatic_ is now known as synfinatic
11:48 AM perry_j1987: hi all
11:50 AM pere: hi
01:04 PM _unreal_: GOD I hate days like this. More endless rain....
01:49 PM CaptHindsight[m]: more stronger = more metal, more weight
01:51 PM CaptHindsight[m]: $80 for a bt30 spindle bracket, is not bad as a starting point to build your own, grind it true and add proper bearings
01:52 PM CaptHindsight[m]: you'll have to rebuild the spindle they send you anyway of you want it right
02:05 PM _unreal_: I'm solving the layout for this new motor controller case
02:05 PM _unreal_: for the new slow progress cnc
02:05 PM _unreal_: So................ if My luck is right, I should be making a CRAP load of money very soon in the stock marker :)
02:31 PM perry_j1987: _unreal_ can i have some?
02:31 PM perry_j1987: i can help you with the burden of spending it
02:32 PM perry_j1987: cause im a nice guy and i'd do that for you
03:13 PM _unreal_: perry_j1987, MMTLP, MMAT, AMC, APE between monday and jan-feb you watch the WTF prices :)
03:13 PM _unreal_: I could be wrong but I doubt it
03:14 PM XXCoder: isnt that supposed to happen bunch of months ago?
03:15 PM XXCoder: btw if you have ftx account and app, uninstall app and don't login to ftx again, taken over by malware and such
03:15 PM _unreal_: YES... funny you mention. newest discovery. 8 quadrillion fake shares have been discovered of tokenized crypto on AMC stock.
03:16 PM _unreal_: hence I never got into crypto. I said ponzy front the start
03:16 PM _unreal_: mmtlp/mmat should run this week
03:17 PM _unreal_: JUST in time for black friday.... TIMED?
03:17 PM _unreal_: teeeeeHHAHAHAHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHE
03:18 PM _unreal_: AMC/APE full peek price I really dont know. some time between DEC-feb. some time between or WTF beyond
03:23 PM Guest46: anybody home ?
03:23 PM _unreal_: no
03:23 PM XXCoder: im at my home so yes
03:23 PM _unreal_: no one is home
03:23 PM _unreal_: shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
03:24 PM Guest46: ok, so, I am trying to get my tool changer to work, and jesus I am lost
03:24 PM _unreal_: Guest46, first change your name
03:25 PM Guest46 is now known as SMCollins
03:25 PM _unreal_: second, what motion controller. what CNC mahcine
03:25 PM SMCollins: sorry had to login in via webchat, don't ask
03:25 PM _unreal_: and all details relative
03:25 PM _unreal_: been there done that TRUST ME
03:25 PM SMCollins: It's a cincinatti milacron cinturn 12u, I am using axis, carousel , 5i25 with 7i77d
03:26 PM _unreal_: oa lathe
03:27 PM SMCollins: I started with the VMC grey code file and modified it to my machine, and on the surface it seems ok, but the remap doesn't seem to work. I have spun the turret and it is definitely seeing the bit switches, lock unlock etc. I started the machine in terminal, and ZERO errors, it just hangs the GUI and then nothing and resumes after 10-15 seconds
03:28 PM SMCollins: it's a really basic setups, 3 binary switches, 1 switch for turret clamp/unclamp and 2 solenoids, 1 for turret push out and another for index motor. Also has a strobe on the index motor locking mechanicsm
03:30 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, ?
03:31 PM SMCollins: I did add the remap.py file etc. I can zip and put the files on my google drive real quick
03:32 PM acer: freaking hell
03:35 PM SMCollins: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O5WnBvPzZJY60L3eJ27bY9iJ9VddkYqT/view?usp=share_link
03:36 PM _unreal_: WTF.....
03:37 PM SMCollins: ?
03:37 PM _unreal_: server kicked me off and said my ISP is not qualified to connect....
03:37 PM _unreal_: W..T....F..
03:37 PM SMCollins: dude, I don't trust any service that bans me from using my VPN
03:37 PM _unreal_: I'm not on VPN
03:37 PM SMCollins: I am I had to make a tunnel for libera, bizzare
03:38 PM _unreal_: 100gb fiber
03:38 PM _unreal_: south florida
03:38 PM SMCollins: I am jealous, awaiting my SpaceX commercial next year
03:38 PM SMCollins: I posted a link to my google drive with my config file
03:39 PM SMCollins: Starlink commercial should be bonkers, I think they were saying over 100gb
03:39 PM _unreal_: they F'ED up the internet service. burned the router etc.... so the I'm sorry was a MAXed out upgrade
03:39 PM SMCollins: very nice
03:40 PM SMCollins: rural michigan, not much for interenet speeds I think I top at 100mbs on the ultra delux super upgrade
03:40 PM _unreal_: hum
03:40 PM _unreal_: ya I'm done with winter
03:40 PM _unreal_: gave that sh!t up years ago
03:41 PM _unreal_: grew up and decades in maine
03:41 PM SMCollins: Me too, Hopefully in the next 2 yrs, I will be able to buy a nice boat and put it on a dock and Snow Bird
03:41 PM _unreal_: DUDE RIGHT NOW
03:41 PM _unreal_: south florida
03:41 PM SMCollins: I know, do you have any idea how complicated a Move is for me ?
03:41 PM _unreal_: that LAST storm that hit the west cost
03:42 PM SMCollins: I have many friends in Ft Myers
03:42 PM _unreal_: and it was easy for me?
03:42 PM SMCollins: I have to move 4 large CNC machines 1400 miles, and a 5bd household
03:42 PM SMCollins: and my trucks etc
03:42 PM SMCollins: oh and a autorepair shop worth of equipment to
03:43 PM _unreal_: O,O
03:43 PM _unreal_: You would make a fortune here
03:43 PM CloudEvil: Step 1. Put your shit in a box.
03:44 PM _unreal_: I make great money, but being I need to escape my current problem paying for my fathers retirment/cancer bs
03:45 PM _unreal_: SMCollins, I'm in the luxury yacht business
03:46 PM _unreal_: SMCollins, msg'ed some examples :)
03:46 PM SMCollins: I went through some bullshit 7 yrs ago when my wife went into hospice, widows 5 yrs ago. Believe me, I get it. 30 yrs of auto repair, my body is DONE
03:46 PM roycroft: you have it wrong, cloudevil
03:46 PM roycroft: 1. put a hole in the box
03:47 PM roycroft: 2. put your junk in the box
03:47 PM roycroft: 3. make her open the box
03:47 PM SMCollins: for me to move, I'd bet 50k I just don't have at the moment
03:47 PM roycroft: those are the steps in the proper order
03:47 PM _unreal_: SMCollins, big market movements comming
03:47 PM SMCollins: Plus find a similar property with 3 acres, 3 phase, etc. not easy
03:47 PM _unreal_: MMAT/MMTLP going to run like a bastard next week
03:47 PM SMCollins: I got around 250k in equity now
03:48 PM SMCollins: trust me , I love S FL, I really like Ft Luaderdale area, lots of single ladies !
03:48 PM _unreal_: thats my area
03:49 PM roycroft: this is a good time to invest in real estate, if you have cash
03:49 PM _unreal_: I'm "work wise" based out of Ft. L
03:49 PM roycroft: the housing market is soft
03:49 PM roycroft: but it's a horrible time to sell
03:49 PM SMCollins: I got 12 paid vacation days I need to use soon, Ft Lauderdal is the destination
03:49 PM _unreal_: thumbs up
03:49 PM SMCollins: First, I need this lathe to spit out parts, then I can take a vacation
03:50 PM SMCollins: Got a customer wants to order 200 parts right now and the cash would really help
03:50 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, would likely be a better help then I am when it comes to lcnc code adjustments
03:50 PM XXCoder: not really I have forgotten a lot
03:50 PM SMCollins: yeah, I have no idea WTF I am doing wrong but based on what I have read, this thing should work.
03:51 PM SMCollins: I can manually command the turret to rotate, but for some reason the commands don;'t seem to be making it from point a to point b
03:51 PM SMCollins: the same files in the vmc sim get it to work, and that's whats so damn perplexing
03:52 PM _unreal_: ?????
03:52 PM _unreal_: if you can command it to function
03:53 PM SMCollins: no I mean I can turn the outputs on and make it work
03:53 PM _unreal_: as to be expected. then there is a code issue
03:53 PM SMCollins: but I can;t command it to work via the remap or something
03:53 PM XXCoder: you mean you can jog it, but none og gcode work?
03:53 PM SMCollins: nothing from MDI etc
03:53 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, just went DING DING :)
03:53 PM SMCollins: I can goto into Hal cmd and force the pin on and it get motion
03:53 PM XXCoder: wonder if its configuration issue where its limited to range and its outside that
03:54 PM SMCollins: I don't know, I have a smooth tapioca brain, eat bananas with my feet
03:54 PM _unreal_: damn ape
03:54 PM SMCollins: if I knew, I wouldn;t be asking lol
03:54 PM SMCollins: hey, I got my Stonks right here, DIAMOND HANDS
03:54 PM _unreal_: thumbs up
03:55 PM CaptHindsight[m]: SMCollins: I post this problem on the forums
03:55 PM CaptHindsight[m]: along with ini and hal files
03:56 PM SMCollins: I did that
03:57 PM CaptHindsight[m]: great
03:57 PM CaptHindsight[m]: this channel has gone mostly chit and chat
03:57 PM SMCollins: I get responses which, I don't personally find helpful, they probably are, if you're much more familiar with the guts of linuxcnc
03:57 PM XXCoder: hey capt whats that color lcd controller board name for project again?
03:57 PM CaptHindsight[m]: the real action now is on the forums
03:57 PM XXCoder: guy on discord is asking for alternatives if you want to check it yourself
03:58 PM CaptHindsight[m]: XXCoder: colorlite fpga?
03:58 PM CaptHindsight[m]: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/27-driver-boards/44422-colorcnc-colorlight-5a-75e-5a-75b-as-fpga-controller-board
03:58 PM _unreal_: SMCollins, I have one system running lcnc, but most of my systems use planetCNC
03:58 PM CaptHindsight[m]: _unreal_: some people don't even have that
03:58 PM SMCollins: the greatest weakness of linuxcnc is also it's greatest strength, it is overly configurable.
03:58 PM XXCoder: thanks
03:58 PM SMCollins: I don't think PlanetCNC supports veolcity servo machines
03:59 PM SMCollins: last I checked
03:59 PM _unreal_: the new 32 bit controllers may I dont know
03:59 PM SMCollins: imagine a 30hp spindle with 10hp axis drives, that's my big girl cincinatti
03:59 PM CaptHindsight[m]: 🦌 plain nut CNC?
03:59 PM _unreal_: the new system I have uses the 7i92
03:59 PM SMCollins: nut comes in flavors now ? wow, that's new
04:00 PM _unreal_: I got a 2.2kw spindle but thats for a future build, planning on building a full 5 axis gantry
04:00 PM CaptHindsight[m]: not sure why but all my incoming messages from alibaba start with "Dear"
04:01 PM SMCollins: No shit right !
04:01 PM SMCollins: awwww 2.2kw, so cute
04:01 PM SMCollins: that's about like my old Trionics Handymany CNC
04:01 PM _unreal_: :p
04:01 PM SMCollins: my smallest mill now is 10hp spindle
04:09 PM SMCollins: PlanetCNC looks like a nice basic piece of easy to use software for a Stepper driven machine. Nice for a basic build
04:10 PM _unreal_: not basic at all. very advanced features
04:10 PM SMCollins: I don't think it's adaptable to my needs however.
04:10 PM SMCollins: I like how clear and concise it seems to be at the front end.
04:11 PM SMCollins: The only issue I currently have it getting the turret to operate. I keep looking at the files and dammit, I just don;t see what I am missing
04:12 PM _unreal_: the small machine that I use for the luxury yachts. making signs etc... thats what I use
04:12 PM SMCollins: I got the x and z moving at 160 ipm and I know I can get them to 300 with zero trouble
04:12 PM SMCollins: https://youtube.com/shorts/p6bJcQHPN-s?feature=share
04:12 PM SMCollins: theres lathey mclathe doing air cuts yesterday
04:18 PM SMCollins: Sold my Monarch 20c to make room for this one. totally worth it
04:42 PM XXCoder: roycroft: https://youtu.be/7EzsHLm35jo part 3 of dust seperator thing
04:42 PM XXCoder: wonder if its overkill lol its huge
04:45 PM SMCollins: only overkill if it was made from a solid billet !!!!
04:45 PM XXCoder: its huge and probably could handle huge wood shop air dust
04:46 PM SMCollins: even small wood shop air dust is ALOT
04:46 PM SMCollins: I know, I have a wood shop
04:47 PM XXCoder: lol ok
04:47 PM SMCollins: can't restore a 100 yr old home without one, can't buy the missing trim the previous owners destroyed etc.
04:47 PM SMCollins: 3 things I use all the time, planer, shaper, table save
04:48 PM SMCollins: the planer and shaper are by far the worst, strangely the joiner makes the least dust
04:48 PM SMCollins: I got 3 rooms left, and it's done. Need to get this lathe out of my hair asap
04:56 PM XXCoder: i do think its some configuration issue but could be wrong
05:01 PM SMCollins: I am sure it's a config issues, but, where do you even start ? Is there a way I can log all the various calls or watch for m6 commands etc
05:01 PM SMCollins: I tried running from terminal, but nada
05:08 PM XXCoder: not sure too
05:13 PM SMCollins: it's a lot of stuff going on and practically speaking I have no knowledge of a way to diagnose it.
05:34 PM NoGodDamnIdea: hello everyone
05:38 PM SMCollins: hello's
05:39 PM CaptHindsight[m]: howdy! 👋

06:21 PM SMCollins: shit, I just realized I might have not noticed that the s32 thread call needs a carousel instance tied to it by number. Ie I have s32.2 in my config, but I only have one carousel and it's labelled .0, so If I rear the docs correctly, it should be s32.0 ???
06:22 PM SMCollins: net car-pos-s32 conv-float-s32.2.out carousel.0.pocket-number    should be net car-pos-s32 conv-float-s32.0.out carousel.0.pocket-number
