12:03 AM Thorhian[m]: Hey TurBoss (@_discord_231682974729502721:jauriarts.org), based on a post in the forum I heard you might be familiar with running LCNC master on Arch?
12:14 AM xxcodery: you sure you got version correct? installed may be old or newr
12:28 AM TurBoss[m]: ah
12:28 AM TurBoss[m]: sek
12:35 AM TurBoss[m]: Thorhian (@_discord_255099809722007553:jauriarts.org) try to set `PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/tcl` , only needed on compile
12:36 AM TurBoss[m]: `/usr/lib/tcl8.6`

02:04 AM Deejay: moin
04:44 AM JT-Cave_: morning
04:47 AM sensille: where can i find the current hdl for the mesa cards?
04:48 AM sensille: of course i had to ask first to find it myself right afterwards :-/
04:49 AM sensille: http://www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/hostmot2.zip
04:49 AM xxcodery: nothing helps you to solution faster than asking question :D
04:50 AM sensille: yeah, even though i learned that years ago, i still haven't found a way around this
04:52 AM xxcodery: place a dool somewhere near pc
04:52 AM xxcodery: ask it first
04:52 AM xxcodery: doll
04:53 AM sensille: tried that, but it's a lion
04:54 AM xxcodery: ah yeah willful
04:56 AM sensille: i have a few colorlight boards here, would be great to get the mesa stuff to run on one
05:53 AM Tom_L: morning
06:54 AM JT-Cave_ is now known as JT-Cave
09:42 AM t4nk_fn: g'day
09:42 AM t4nk_fn: (mate)
10:16 AM Thorhian[m]: Still getting this error:... (full message at <https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/libera.chat/7bfaee29e9a96d40d1b16be5bc2cd2153115ae47>)
10:18 AM TurBoss[m]: :/
10:20 AM Thorhian[m]: Apparently someone else is having the same problem: https://www.forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc/43928-linuxcnc-2-9-on-arch-linux?start=10
10:20 AM TurBoss[m]: `export PATH=/usr/lib/tcl8.6/bwidget-1.9.15:$PATH`
10:21 AM Thorhian[m]: Nope.
10:22 AM JT-Shop_ is now known as JT-Shop
10:22 AM JT-Shop: Hi TurBoss[m]
10:23 AM TurBoss[m]: do you have bwidget from pacman
10:23 AM TurBoss[m]: hello
10:23 AM Thorhian[m]: Pacman after a query is saying it is installed `bwidget 1.9.15-1`.
10:25 AM Thorhian[m]: Trying to use ls on that directory I'm getting a permission denied though lol
10:25 AM TurBoss[m]: oh
10:25 AM TurBoss[m]: that is
10:26 AM TurBoss[m]: `sudo chmod ug+rx bwidget-1.9.15
10:26 AM TurBoss[m]: * ug+rx bwidget-1.9.15`
10:26 AM TurBoss[m]: under `/usr/lib/tcl/8.6
10:26 AM TurBoss[m]: * under `/usr/lib/tcl/8.6`
10:29 AM Thorhian[m]: Lol, it is refusing to change the permissions, no errors when using chmod though.
10:29 AM Tom_L: are you root?
10:29 AM Thorhian[m]: I am using sudo to do this.
10:29 AM Tom_L: k
10:30 AM Thorhian[m]: Pretty sure it would yell at me otherwise. I've switched to root to see if that helps
10:31 AM Thorhian[m]: Don't you mean `chmod ag+rx`?
10:31 AM TurBoss[m]: ops! 🤦‍♂️
10:31 AM Thorhian[m]: That would do it
10:32 AM TurBoss[m]: the thing is mimic the other directories under tcl8.6 permissions
10:32 AM Thorhian[m]: Still nothing though.```configure: error: BWidget not found!
10:32 AM Thorhian[m]: install with "sudo apt-get install bwidget"```
10:33 AM Thorhian[m]: Oh wait
10:34 AM Thorhian[m]: Everything in the folder still does not have read and execute access lol
10:35 AM Thorhian[m]: Alright, it was finally successful.
10:36 AM Thorhian[m]: Whoever is maintaining the aur package for bwidget messed up or something.
10:37 AM Thorhian[m]: Compiling now
10:37 AM Tom_L: yay
10:38 AM Thorhian[m]: Thanks TurBoss (@_discord_231682974729502721:jauriarts.org)
10:40 AM TurBoss[m]: great!, thank you too
10:48 AM Thorhian[m]: Would you happen to know why running the `rip-environment` script keeps crashing my shell. I can't even see the error message that blips in and out of existence.
10:48 AM TurBoss[m]: not bash
10:49 AM Thorhian[m]: You have to use bash?
10:49 AM TurBoss[m]: yep
10:49 AM Thorhian[m]: RIP
10:49 AM TurBoss[m]: zsh looks like not compatible
10:49 AM TurBoss[m]: I just run bash
10:49 AM Thorhian[m]: That sucks.
10:50 AM TurBoss[m]: i don't know bash enough to make it compatible with zsh
10:52 AM Thorhian[m]: Well, it didn't crash with bash.
10:56 AM Thorhian[m]: Awesome, with a few more adjustments in permissions for bwidget, It seems to be running now. Now I need to start learning how to write my own custom UI for my small 10.1" touch screen display.
11:10 AM perry_j1987: mornin
11:34 AM JT-Cave: I hope that first piece of metal roofing is on straight...
11:35 AM solarwind: I just fixed the whole huanyang VFD code and added support for the GT series VFDs
11:35 AM solarwind: should I create a fork and pull request for linuxcnc?
12:06 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/temp/IMG_2423.jpg
12:06 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/temp/IMG_2421.jpg
12:06 PM Tom_L: 1.5" cat50 oopsie
12:07 PM xxcodery: lol
12:07 PM Tom_L: programmer didn't clearance the holder high enough
12:08 PM Tom_L: s/holder/tool
12:09 PM xxcodery: looks like it has relief too
12:10 PM Tom_L: 1.25" sry
12:15 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, anything there worth building debs over?
12:15 PM Tom_L: didn't look like it..
12:20 PM Tom_L: just added ini4 and changed version?
12:44 PM solarwind: Hmm is there any value in closing the loop with DRO glass scales?
12:44 PM solarwind: Let's say I'm converting a manual mill with DRO scales and open loop stepper motor drives
12:48 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, https://github.com/jethornton/mesact/commit/14c34e153982d914cf5797a565a658df7feaaec9

12:55 PM Tom_L: ok
01:03 PM justVain is now known as justache
01:07 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, https://github.com/jethornton/mesact/commit/b78c698138767b69689516c7d96b71247d0c5f01
01:08 PM Tom_L: did see that
01:08 PM Tom_L: building..
01:08 PM Tom_L: what you doin in ini4?
01:25 PM Tom_L: some reason my version isn't updating to 0.7.4 even after complete removal with synaptic package manager
01:25 PM Tom_L: although the manager shows 0.7.4 as the installed version
01:28 PM Tom_L: Mesa Configuration Tool - Version 0.7.3 - Build Date 10/05/2022
01:28 PM Tom_L: odd
01:29 PM Tom_L: i notice when you bump versions i have to remove the previous one first
01:35 PM Tom_L: same on all 3 versions here
01:38 PM boozeman[m]: I can confirm. Fresh version of mesact 0.7.4 installed and the window title is still 0.7.3 - Build Date 10/5/2022
01:38 PM boozeman[m]: maybe just window title here?
01:38 PM Tom_L: for amd64?
01:39 PM boozeman[m]: yep
01:39 PM Tom_L: you're probably save to assume it's 0.7.4
01:39 PM Tom_L: i just now did a pr for the rpi ones
01:39 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, ^^
01:40 PM boozeman[m]: dpkg -l shows 0.7.4 installed. I assume it is just the title
01:40 PM Tom_L: yep
01:40 PM Tom_L: he did something with estop, i haven't had a chance to check
01:41 PM Tom_L: couple other things..
01:41 PM Tom_L: boozeman[m], see his posts above for the changes
01:45 PM boozeman[m]: Yeah, just checking the git and there it is. path mesact/mesact/src/ file mesact has that VERSION = '0.7.3'
01:45 PM boozeman[m]: BUILD_DATE = '10/5/2022'
01:52 PM JT-Shop2: dang forgot to change build date
01:57 PM perry_j1987: there we go.. back out in the shop finally again
01:57 PM perry_j1987: hows it going guys
02:00 PM JT-Cave: ini4 started with a fresh copy of master so it's in sync and I copied the changes from ini3 to ini4 and continue working on the axes and joints part
02:01 PM JT-Cave: just fixed the version and build date guys
02:01 PM Tom_L: i wondered how you'd merge them when the time came since they were somewhat out of sinc
02:01 PM Tom_L: i'll rebuild the rpi debs later on
02:04 PM JT-Shop: ok

03:21 PM JT[m]: Cat house is done
03:21 PM roguish[m]: JT: nice,
03:22 PM JT[m]: Thanks, taking the rest of the day off
03:22 PM roguish[m]: JT: I made my cats a Catio.

03:24 PM roguish[m]: you're is a lot bigger.
03:24 PM JT[m]: Velcro
03:24 PM roguish[m]: good looking cat
03:24 PM roguish[m]: is that the cat'sname?
03:25 PM JT[m]: Yep
03:25 PM roguish[m]: lol
03:25 PM roguish[m]: cool
03:26 PM roguish[m]: go grab a beer and play with the chickens...
03:37 PM JT[m]: Beer thirty is an hour away
03:44 PM roycroft: no beer thirty at all for me today - tonight is our annual meeting/election
03:45 PM * roycroft has been prepping for it all day so far, and has about an hour's more work to do before he's ready, then a couple hours off, then time to go set up
03:47 PM JT[m]: Sounds like work to me
03:49 PM JT[m]: Is that for the country fair?
03:52 PM roycroft: yes
03:52 PM roycroft: next weekend we count the ballots and announce the winners
03:52 PM roycroft: then i have very little work to do until july
03:54 PM JT[m]: I made good progress on the copy lathe last week, should finish it next week I hope
03:56 PM JT[m]: One more machine to convert and I should have some time off for a while to do fun stuff
05:48 PM roycroft: speaking of fun stuff, i'm not finding any kind of winch mounts for my pickup under $1k, but i did find a front bumper kit for $500 that looks like it might be fun to build
05:49 PM roycroft: https://www.movebumpers.com/products/classic-front-bumper-kit
05:49 PM roguish[m]: that one of those fancy grocery kart guards???
05:49 PM roycroft: i've read several reviews and watched a couple youtube videos on that kit, and folks really like it, and say it's easy to build and fits really well
05:49 PM roycroft: i don't want the big bars on the top
05:50 PM roycroft: i just want to be able to mount a winch on the front
05:51 PM roycroft: i wonder how much it would cost to get that powdercoated after it's welded up
05:51 PM roycroft: the kit uses the vehicle itself as the assembly jig, so it's guaranteed to fit if the person doing the welding is the least bit competent
05:51 PM roycroft: and i think i count as a wee bit competent
05:53 PM roycroft: clean front bumpers for my vehicle sell for $300, so the kit would end up costing me only $200 + paint/powercoat
06:17 PM perry_j1987: hows it going
06:53 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, building
07:03 PM xxcodery80 is now known as xxcodery
07:13 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, #36 is up
07:42 PM perry_j1987: so im using this fswizard app to calculate speeds and feeds
07:42 PM perry_j1987: for a 7mm drill bit at 1000 rpm its saying to do a feed of 185.26mm/min
07:43 PM perry_j1987: so i do an MDI for G83 z-20 q1.75 r2. f185.26
07:43 PM perry_j1987: it sure looks fast
08:18 PM skunkworks: https://photos.app.goo.gl/9KPqPt7vv7BkdTAp8
08:18 PM skunkworks: leak testing.. Do you see the issue?
08:43 PM CloudEvil: perry_j1987: In what?
08:44 PM CloudEvil: I would not hesitate to do that in aluminium.
08:59 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, what's the tank for?
08:59 PM Tom_L: nothing bubblegum wouldn't fix
09:01 PM Tom_L: perry_j1987, just keep the flutes cleaned out if it's a deep hole
09:23 PM ZincBoy[CAON][m]: I use HSMadvisor quite a bit and have found the speeds and feeds to be pretty good. I would run a 7mm bit at 5000rpm and 950mm/min in 6061. But if you don't have the rpm then scaling it down to 185mm/min would be about right.
