05:04 AM Tom_L: morning
05:20 AM JT-Cave: hmm today might be a good day to buck up some rounds and split them
06:36 AM JT-Cave: just ordered some motor pads for the router table and 3 times firefox wanted to save my cc info no no no

07:36 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: Yes it’s open
07:36 AM JT-Cave: please be more specific
07:36 AM * olivierbeaupuy[m uploaded an image: (7707KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/YxaTWFsBXRwQpeVBBcLxzwxV/ima_9fb6e95.jpeg >
07:37 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: But i have this
07:37 AM JT-Cave: might be an error, let me check
07:38 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: I have test 7i80 and 7i76 and it’s same
07:39 AM JT-Cave: ok I see that you need another file...
07:41 AM Tom_L: woops
07:42 AM JT-Cave: I didn't realize that Qt Linguist needed the ui file as well because it's there for me
07:42 AM JT-Cave: wget https://github.com/jethornton/7i76e/raw/master/7i76e/src/lib7i76e/ui_7i80.py
07:43 AM JT-Cave: olivierbeaupuy[m, you need to put that file in the same directory as the 7i80 eng-fr.ts file
07:43 AM JT-Cave: hmm oops link is wrong
07:44 AM JT-Cave: wget https://github.com/jethornton/7i80/raw/master/7i80/src/lib7i80/eng-fr.ts
07:44 AM JT-Cave: wget https://github.com/jethornton/7i80/raw/master/7i80/src/lib7i80/ui_7i80.py
07:50 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: Ok i need help of silopolis it’s better of me with linux and he speak french 😅
07:50 AM olivierbeaupuy[m: I think it’s ok but he have no translate in this file, all boxes are empty
07:50 AM * olivierbeaupuy[m uploaded an image: (6926KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/pvHYroQbmsIKWcdanhncdRiA/ima_519f375.jpeg >
07:50 AM JT-Cave: right you need two files
07:50 AM JT-Cave: ok I see you have it now
07:51 AM JT-Cave: yes, translating is what I need done
07:51 AM JT-Cave: so Texte source Default Values Translation to francais box needs filled in
07:52 AM JT-Cave: things like FF0 don't get translated
08:25 AM * JT-Shop builds a fire in the machine shop... a bit nippy out here
08:25 AM Tom_L: ~37 ish here
08:25 AM Tom_L: need a jacket but gonna be a nice day
08:42 AM JT-Cave: 44°F and yea it's going to be a nice day here too
10:18 AM roguish[m]: 50 ish here. rain moving in.
11:44 AM roycroft: similar here today, although the rain should dimish by early afternoon
12:21 PM JT-Cave: got the smaller tree (18" at the butt) bucked up into rounds... sure gets your heart going
12:42 PM jdh: 80f here. nice day.
12:43 PM roycroft: i'm going to try to finish tidying up and reorganizing my fabrication shop today
12:44 PM roycroft: i found replacement heating elements for my kiln last night, although not at a price that i like
12:44 PM roycroft: but i want to get that project done very soon
12:45 PM roycroft: i want to experiment with enameling, so the kiln would be useful for that as well as heat treating metal
12:46 PM jdh: I need to sell my G0704 due to moving soon. any suggestions on how to sell it?
12:46 PM roycroft: craigslist
12:47 PM roycroft: and be prepared for the attack of the bottom feeders
12:51 PM jdh: yeah. not a fan of having CL people in my house.
01:05 PM Tom_L: take it with ya
01:11 PM jdh: Don't really have room and I haven't even turned it on in over a year
01:12 PM Tom_L: time to dust it off then :)
01:12 PM Tom_L: is that one with the round column?
01:42 PM roycroft: no
01:42 PM roycroft: it's one of the most popular small mills for cnc conversions
01:42 PM roycroft: and it
01:42 PM roycroft: is a dovetail column
01:43 PM roycroft: i don't let cl people in my house or my shop
01:43 PM roycroft: when i sell on cl, i set up an ez-up in my driveway and meet the folks there with the goods
01:44 PM roycroft: in the summer i don't always bother with the ez-up
01:44 PM roycroft: although when selling a machine with a cast iron table, i usually do just so that they can touch the machine without suffering burns
01:48 PM silopolis[m]: Hi folks
01:50 PM silopolis[m]: JT-Cave olivierbeaupuy: hope mylady will leave me enough time to work on translations tomorrow...
02:38 PM JT-Shop: the second log went faster cause I could pick it up with the backhoe
02:38 PM JT-Shop: now to split it all
02:42 PM perry_j1987: that pm-728vt looks real real nice vs g0704
03:53 PM JT-Shop: so for $5k you can have a ready for CNC drives mini mill...
03:55 PM Tom_L: how do you change a line to construction line in sw?
03:55 PM JT-Shop: right click and select the H looking thingy
03:56 PM Tom_L: thanks
03:56 PM JT-Shop: np
03:56 PM Tom_L: where's 'trim' found?
03:56 PM JT-Shop: as in trim a line back?
03:56 PM Tom_L: yup
03:56 PM Tom_L: i found it for roy but forgot :)
03:56 PM JT-Shop: I just click on the end node and drag it back
03:57 PM Tom_L: ok
03:57 PM JT-Shop: I don't think I've ever trimmed a line in sw only in libreacad or however it's spelled
03:58 PM Tom_L: trim/extend is one function in catia
03:58 PM Tom_L: unfortunately this is in sw
03:58 PM Tom_L: trying to repair a model so i can modify it
03:58 PM JT-Shop: it's just too easy to grab the end of the line and drag it back to the intersecting line and it snaps to the intersecting line
03:58 PM Tom_L: features referenced off other bastard features
03:59 PM Tom_L: i see that now
03:59 PM JT-Shop: trim is in Tools > Sketch Tools
03:59 PM Tom_L: yeah
04:00 PM Tom_L: i knew it was off the top menu somewhere
04:00 PM Tom_L: can you make a sketch visible to another sketch to reference points from it?
04:01 PM JT-Shop: ah the scissors tool is on my mouse gestures so I never think about it
04:01 PM Tom_L: they referenced some holes off a blend radius instead of the part edge :/
04:01 PM Tom_L: idiots
04:01 PM Tom_L: and i have to remove the blend to fix the part
04:02 PM JT-Shop: you should be able to just make sure it above in the tree I think
04:02 PM Tom_L: they should have radius'd the part edge instead of the face
04:04 PM JT-Shop: the encoder cable showed up for the panasonic servo
04:04 PM JT-Shop: what are you working on?
04:05 PM XXCoder: bleh
04:05 PM XXCoder: feeling so weak after doing just hour of yard work
04:05 PM XXCoder: also attempting to clear sewer pipe
04:07 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, i need to modify that handle: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Can_holder_assy.jpg
04:07 PM Tom_L: for a different partnumber
04:07 PM Tom_L: the front end of it is different
04:08 PM Tom_L: i need to merge the front half of the black part to it
04:08 PM XXCoder: whats that tiing
04:08 PM Tom_L: a thing
04:08 PM XXCoder: oh i see tihhher youre makoing
04:08 PM XXCoder: man cant type
04:08 PM Tom_L: the cast part is just there to hold it up
04:08 PM XXCoder: trigger
04:12 PM JT-Shop: fun with a bad cad file
04:12 PM Tom_L: always
04:13 PM JT-Shop: todays fun https://gnipsel.com/images/wood-heat/twin-oak-03.jpg
04:13 PM Tom_L: it's supposed to be in a nice neat pile!
04:13 PM JT-Shop: that's next...
04:13 PM JT-Shop: well gotta split it first
04:14 PM JT-Shop: I was happy to get them bucked up into rounds
04:15 PM Tom_L: how do you move items on the tree?
04:16 PM Tom_L: (not your tree) :)
04:17 PM JT-Shop: if they don't have any dependencies you can drag them, often I will suppress features below a problem one
04:18 PM Tom_L: it's a little more effort to blend an edge over a face but it generally works better in the end

04:28 PM CloudEvil: Wow.
04:28 PM CloudEvil: 'The HOLY GRAIL of Precision Machining | SIP Hydroptic 6 Jig Borer
04:45 PM CaptHindsight[m]: see how beefy the linear bearings are
04:46 PM CaptHindsight[m]: what my pals in China and India would say is "overbuilt" :)
04:46 PM CaptHindsight[m]: or reprap
04:49 PM CaptHindsight[m]: I also like the accessories
04:50 PM XXCoder: wow spares
04:55 PM CaptHindsight[m]: how much metal could your remove from that machine and still hold its accuracy but only up to maybe 5-10 years of use?
04:56 PM CaptHindsight[m]: that would be today's design goal
04:56 PM CaptHindsight[m]: and a little less hardening
05:00 PM CaptHindsight[m]: SIP HYDROPTIC 8P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgkNB3gKNyk
05:24 PM JT-Shop: hmm for some reason yet to be determined my planer started leaving a 1 1/2" snipe on the leading edge
05:27 PM XXCoder: 1 1/2? dang thats huge snipe
05:27 PM XXCoder: something loose?
05:27 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, can you copy a sketch from one file and insert it into another?
05:28 PM XXCoder: Tom_L: if freecad, you can open both files in single instance
05:28 PM Tom_L: nope
05:28 PM XXCoder: then yes you can copy paste
05:30 PM XXCoder: ok
06:36 PM roycroft: i have a spare shaft on a grinder/buffer machine
06:36 PM roycroft: i want to get a scotchbrite wheel for it
06:37 PM roycroft: i want it primarily for deburring/removing scratches
06:37 PM roycroft: they are very expensive, so i want to get the right one the first time
06:37 PM roycroft: does anyone have a suggestion for my application?
06:38 PM roycroft: the machine has a 3/4" shaft, which is an odd size, but i can bush it out to 1" easily
06:38 PM roycroft: i have some bushings already
06:39 PM Tom_L: Colour Code General Applications
06:39 PM Tom_L: Brown Blending, deburring, weld cleaning, oxide removal, rust removal
06:39 PM Tom_L: Dark green Heavy duty cleaning, oxide removal
06:39 PM Tom_L: Light green Cleaning, equipment maintenance, blending, intermediate finishing
06:39 PM Tom_L: Maroon Fine finishing, cleaning, paint keying, light deburring, blending
06:39 PM Tom_L: green or brown
06:40 PM Tom_L: i keep green pads around here for various things
06:40 PM roycroft: yeah, i'm familiar with the colors and their suitability for manual or light machine use, such as on an orbital sander
06:41 PM roycroft: i just don't know how that translates to high speed grinder wheels
06:41 PM Tom_L: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40071659/
06:42 PM Tom_L: looks like a 1" center
06:44 PM roycroft: 1" work for me
06:48 PM roycroft: i really need an 8" wheel, though, and those all seem to have 3" arbor holes
06:49 PM roycroft: it's a big motor (3/4h), and i don't think i'd have enough clearance with a 6" wheel to work comfortably
06:54 PM roycroft: but maybe i do - it was designed as a buffer, so it has long shafts
06:54 PM roycroft: i should mount a 6" wheel on it and see how much room there is to work
07:30 PM XXCoder: love the new blondihack machine video
08:06 PM jdh: I find her cringey
08:29 PM XXCoder: why
08:36 PM jdh: just some things she does
08:36 PM roycroft: jdh loses at yatzee
