01:44 AM Deejay: moin
05:29 AM JT-Cave: morning
07:26 AM silopolis[m]: Hi
07:30 AM silopolis[m]: <Tom_L> "what would you need the 7i74 for..." <- For the 7i73 to begin with, and because I'm frustrated of not being able to make it with a 7i94 😅
07:55 AM JT-Cave: you should be able to flash firmware to the 7i80 to give you 6 sserial ports on one connector
08:04 AM silopolis[m]: JT-Cave: ok
08:05 AM JT-Cave: all the daughter cards have a sserial port
08:08 AM JT-Cave: do you have a 7i76 or 7i77?
09:37 AM Tom_L: sunny & 67 today
09:42 AM silopolis[m]: <JT-Cave> "do you have a 7i76 or 7i77?" <- I have no cards today
09:43 AM silopolis[m]: My pal has the hairy 7i80DB config I've sent you
09:44 AM silopolis[m]: On my side, I'm in early design of my lab rig
09:45 AM JT-Cave: ok
09:45 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, do you have a 7i80HD-16?
09:46 AM silopolis[m]: I can't build machines for the foreseable future. So, to be able to learn and contribute to LinuxCNC, I'm planning a lab rig with all sorts of motors, encoders, sensors, actuators...
09:47 AM Tom_L: yes
09:48 AM * silopolis[m] uploaded an image: (76KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/PyundgHnwQmiVtQiExbEQSMi/ts-qttr14_accessories_large.jpg >
09:48 AM silopolis[m]: Something like this with electronics on one side and axis etc on the other
09:48 AM Tom_L: not enclosed?
09:49 AM Tom_L: is this for testing?
09:49 AM silopolis[m]: Not in current thinkings... Why ?
09:50 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, what daughter cards do you have on the 7i80?
09:50 AM silopolis[m]: Tom_L: Yes. Learn, test, write documentation and maybe make videos
09:50 AM Tom_L: none at the present
09:50 AM Tom_L: i have a 7i47
09:50 AM Tom_L: i use it for testing mostly
09:51 AM Tom_L: 7i47 probably isn't the best choice for general use
09:52 AM Tom_L: using the 7i47S on the mill
09:52 AM Tom_L: with a 7i90
09:53 AM JT-Cave: ok
09:54 AM Tom_L: i can swap between the 2 if i want to run the 80 on the mill
09:54 AM Tom_L: i did that mostly for testing the rpi
09:54 AM JT-Cave: ok
09:55 AM * JT-Cave goes to make a couple of cables
10:24 AM Tom_L: pi day
10:37 AM perry_j1987: good morning
11:29 AM drdoc: buenos!
01:08 PM XXCoder: 5 axis printing https://youtu.be/x9rG15qrDIE
01:17 PM roycroft: the linear motion components i need for my cnc router have gone way up in price since last i priced them out ( a couple months ago)
01:17 PM roycroft: as in 50% more
01:17 PM roycroft: my router is becoming unaffordable :(
01:17 PM drdoc: dang
01:17 PM XXCoder: :(
01:18 PM roycroft: i need to finish the design work and start buying parts asap or else it either may not happen or i have to scale back the design
01:22 PM roycroft: i'm already close to ditching the vertical mount feature that would let me machine the ends of boards
03:25 PM XXCoder: interesting video https://youtu.be/f7tlxWbPWEc
03:25 PM XXCoder: a though-spindle coolant for machines that does NOT have one

04:53 PM skunkworks: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YTCPgzKw32gsu6VJ7
04:53 PM Tom_L: not the normal position for a screw i think
04:54 PM skunkworks: lol - We want to mount the stepper on the back side of the lathe - so we needed to bore a hole out the back of the saddle
04:54 PM Tom_L: ahh ok
04:55 PM skunkworks: So found a shaft - turned the end down so it went through the existing brass nut
04:55 PM skunkworks: mounted a drill in it.
04:55 PM skunkworks: then bored it out bigger..
04:55 PM Tom_L: that drill sticking out also didn't look quite normal :)

04:56 PM Tom_L: you'll have clearance when the slide is back?
04:57 PM skunkworks: https://photos.app.goo.gl/MXAMF2HApNe7r88E7
04:57 PM skunkworks: yes - we can get a 2 inch pully under there..
04:58 PM Tom_L: https://greatlakespowertools.com/milwaukee-48-06-2871-right-angle-drive/
04:58 PM Tom_L: or add one of those :)
04:58 PM skunkworks: backlash.. ;)
04:58 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:35 PM perry_j1987: backlash compensation of course :P
05:51 PM perry_j1987: ty for posting that vid XXCoder
05:51 PM perry_j1987: that company even makes down to er11 through coolant nuts
05:53 PM perry_j1987: 540 bucks just sniffed out a price
05:54 PM perry_j1987: https://www.machiningcloud.com/app/en/search/rego-fix/productdetail/3716.19000
06:43 PM skunkworks: I think we have some tooling that has that built in.. (coolant)
06:44 PM XXCoder: perry_j1987: welcome
06:50 PM XXCoder: new this old tony video. fun
06:51 PM srk- is now known as srk
07:13 PM CaptHindsight[m]: are any of the Mesa FPGA boards in stock anymore?
07:14 PM CaptHindsight[m]: i know they are working on some new designs with more "available" FPGA's
07:21 PM XXCoder: i hope thats a success
07:21 PM XXCoder: I do want ethernet MESA evenually
07:25 PM srk- is now known as srk
07:29 PM CaptHindsight[m]: JT has a few
07:48 PM skunkworks: I have a few in stock.. but they are not for sale.. ;)
07:48 PM * XXCoder breaks in and steals em
07:48 PM skunkworks: if you can find them.. (I don't even know were some of them are...)
08:55 PM drdoc: heh
08:56 PM drdoc: I was looking for a spartan chip to replace the one on the PCIe board I fried
08:56 PM drdoc: Andy P figures the Spartan itself took the hit
08:56 PM drdoc: turns out to be cheaper to replace the whole board

09:29 PM ve7it: oops.... nevermind :}
09:30 PM XXCoder: lol
09:30 PM * XXCoder spies in meeting
09:30 PM XXCoder: kidding
09:30 PM ve7it: it will help you sleep!
09:30 PM XXCoder: lol

10:44 PM enleth: so it seems Putin achieved one of his dreams, a 1:1 relationship between pound, ruble and dollar - as of right now, a pound of rubles is worth a dollar
