01:37 AM MrSunshine: gah, will these mesa cards be in stock somewhere in europe soon? :/ been out of stock forever everywhere
01:54 AM Loetmichel_: oh maaan... sometimes i am dumb. Designed an enclosure made from 1mm brass sheet on Friday. Let the Coworker make three prototypes on the , tried to fold them ... calculated the bend radii instead of the bend diameters... Back the the drawing board it is! :)
01:54 AM XXCoder: ow
01:54 AM XXCoder: the old rad vs dia
01:55 AM Loetmichel_: i blame "not enough coffee!"
01:57 AM Loetmichel_: ah, and missed a word. s/on the/on the mill
02:32 AM Loetmichel_ is now known as Loetmichel
02:52 AM Loetmichel: *giggle* coworker has a device in the measurement chamber that beeps constantly. $me "Sounds like an ER room heart monitor" *beep* *beep* *beeeeeeep* [silence]... coworker in a dry tone: "I hope it isnt!"

07:09 AM JT-Cave: 47°F at the moment with a high of 45°F for the day...
08:51 AM unterhausen: 60F, but raining. I guess you can't have everything.
09:47 AM roycroft: it's sunny here today, with a projected high of 15
09:47 AM roycroft: and i have the day off!
11:21 AM JT-Cave: 45°F is the high today so debating with myself if I want to work on the spoke lathe or not
11:23 AM jdh: 77f but I'm at work, so...
11:24 AM JT-Cave: there's no heat in the building with the spoke lathes and copy lathes and it feels colder inside the building...
11:34 AM * Abanim20[m] uploaded a video: (12203KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/LcPHthnRUTvNSwmQNwJmdPcH/VID_20220223_105114.mp4 >
02:04 PM roycroft: i just did my first resaw on the new band saw, and i'd say the results are somewhat mixed, but mostly very good
02:05 PM roycroft: as i feared, even at 1.75hp, it felt a little underpowered, and i was only resawing a piece of 7-1/2" wide birch
02:05 PM roycroft: but the cut was amazingly smooth, extraction excellent, and it was very straight
02:06 PM roycroft: i'm willing to sacrifice a little speed, but none of the other factors, so i'm happy
02:06 PM XXCoder: nice
02:06 PM roycroft: yeah
02:07 PM roycroft: but it's also hard to say "new band saw", since i got it before thanksgiving
02:07 PM roycroft: it's taken until now to get the parts to make it work properly
02:07 PM * roycroft tries not to hold that against jet too much
03:29 PM unterhausen: the mailing list is a hot mess today
03:30 PM unterhausen: "so we're all in agreement that the pi distribution should be pulled"
03:30 PM unterhausen: among other annoying things
03:46 PM roycroft: why are folks agreeing to that, or claiming to agree?
03:46 PM unterhausen: nobody agreed, that was just one person's misreading of something that pcw said
03:47 PM unterhausen: pcw is also very patient
03:50 PM CaptHindsight[m]: unterhausen: haven't read either list yet today, it's kind of turned me off the past few months with a couple of not know it all's commenting on almost on every thread
03:51 PM XXCoder: pi distribution? rpi dist for lcnc?
03:52 PM CaptHindsight[m]: lcnc-user ml
03:52 PM roycroft: i don't know what pcw said, but when you mentioned this "pulling" the rpi distro my first thought was that it was related to the unavailability of motion control boards like the mesa ethernet boards, and the unsuitability of a rpi to do the motion control all on its own
03:53 PM roycroft: i don't see how that would reasonably morph to "pull the rpi distro"
03:53 PM XXCoder: im not sure if thats an strong argument, since being hard to get doesnt mean theres people who have both
03:54 PM roycroft: correct
03:55 PM roycroft: folks who already have the hardware should expect ongoing support for their stuff, especially since i think it's safe to assume that once pcw can get parts to build his boards, or redesign the boards to use parts that are available, the project would want to further support the rpi port
03:56 PM * roycroft heads back to the shop
03:57 PM CaptHindsight[m]: just read the thread, same long winded idiot, just ignore
03:58 PM roycroft: i've already invested more energy than i should have, and haven't read a word of the thread
03:58 PM * roycroft is still a good 3 months behind on the mailing list
04:08 PM CaptHindsight[m]: there are a couple of sites that mirror the LCNC mail lists, what are they doing that they get higher results in Google?
04:09 PM CaptHindsight[m]: been wondering if it's how Google perceives me or if it's something that the mirrors do to get more traffic

04:56 PM * JT-Shop ponders what wood to pair with zebrawood to make a nice bowl... black walnut, padauk, purpleheart
04:58 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, did you go freeze yer arse off today?
04:59 PM JT-Shop: I did go to Foxy and got the painful part of marrying the magazine feeder to the spoke lathe
04:59 PM JT-Shop: it was not too cold inside, I guess it had not had time to cool off yet
05:04 PM Tom_L: i've got a handfull of blocks i'd cut a bit short i finally squared up. been saving them til last to run in case they don't clean up then i can boot this one out the door
05:28 PM roycroft: i've been doing woodworking this afternoon with the big door open, not huddling with the heater on
05:28 PM roycroft: first time this year
05:28 PM roycroft: but that said, we're due for a hard freeze again later this week
05:29 PM roycroft: the season is turning, but it's not turned yet
06:57 PM unterhausen: skunkworks did software stepping on a pi4. And Remora works with a pi4 too.
07:02 PM unterhausen: amazon screwed me on shipping again, somethings coming on thursday instead of friday
07:03 PM unterhausen: not going to allow them to clump orders together like that if it's not coming on a day my wife isn't here :)
07:12 PM roycroft: it's hard to stop them
07:12 PM roycroft: they're kind of jerks about it these days
07:12 PM roycroft: they give you a delivery date, then they start messing with it
