01:46 AM randy: mhm. are i'm the only one yhow is using deepl to translate? :p
01:46 AM randy: who
04:18 AM Loetmichel_: *haarrump* sometimes i feel like wikipedia. Co-worker just came by: "hey, when i put a Battery to that led here it lights up. If i put a meter of wire on it it still lights up. If i use the whole spool of wire it doesen. Why?" Cue me exlaining about Ohms law. Half an hour later i am explaining about plasma, lightning, photons and electron orbits. MAN, what are they teaching the kids down
04:18 AM Loetmichel_: there in Eritrea?
04:49 AM Tom_L: morning
05:02 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:03 AM Tom_L: hi today 80F
05:03 AM JT-Cave: 75°F here
05:06 AM JT-Cave: we are going to Swiss Missouri today
05:11 AM Tom_L: bike or car?
05:18 AM JT-Cave: corvette, going to Swiss Meat Company for bacon and brats
05:23 AM JT-Cave: on the way back stopping at Missouri Hicks BBQ on route 66 in Cuba for lunch
06:41 AM t4nk_freenode: howdy
07:39 AM perry_j1987: good mornin
08:45 AM gp5st: are there any ports capable of gpio or that export something resembling a cpu bus on a modern computer?
09:11 AM perry_j1987: parallel port?
09:37 AM gp5st: perry_j1987, I havn't seen a parallel port on a computer in over a decade
09:37 AM perry_j1987: pcie cards
09:38 AM gp5st: Doesn't pci require a bunch of protocol to be on the bus?
09:39 AM gp5st: The ISA bus was just address + date + some interrupt and memory strobes iirc
09:40 AM gp5st: pcmcia cards were similar to the isa bus iirc
09:41 AM gp5st: rasp pis have gpio and an accessible i2c bus, which is closer to what I'm looking for
10:22 AM roycroft: finally, the state is putting an end to driving while hippie stops
10:22 AM roycroft: it will be illegal to stop motorists for equipment violations, unless there is also a moving violation
11:41 AM Tom_L: roycroft, still shouldn't be hard to find plenty of moving violations
11:49 AM roycroft: but it's harder now
11:49 AM roycroft: oregon, gp5st
11:50 AM roycroft: the bill just passed the senate, which is the hard chamber here
11:50 AM roycroft: it should breeze through the house, and our governor will sign it
11:51 AM roycroft: i haven't been pulled over since the pandemic started, but prior to that i'd usually get stopped once or twice a year for driving while hippie
11:51 AM roycroft: never a citation
11:51 AM roycroft: but a stop, and a request to search the vehicle, which i always politely decline
02:41 PM unterhausen: I just found a thread where someone said that they had dismissed lcnc because it's all parport.
02:42 PM roycroft: would they rather use usb? :)
02:42 PM XXCoder: ech
02:44 PM roycroft: i would read that as "i'm dismissing lcnc because i don't know anything about it"
02:44 PM roycroft: and that's fine
02:46 PM XXCoder: basically
02:47 PM roycroft: what's not fine is if they go spreading around their ignorance disguised as information
02:47 PM unterhausen: it was in a thread about them getting lcnc working, so they had gotten over it
02:48 PM unterhausen: it's just that I wonder how many people labor under that ridiculous assumption
02:48 PM cradek: so annoying when people don't know that they don't know what they're talking about
02:48 PM unterhausen: parport was a clever late addition to lcnc
02:48 PM roycroft: wow
02:48 PM unterhausen: or I guess emc
02:48 PM roycroft: every since i paid off my last cc balance i've been flooded with balance transfer offers
02:49 PM roycroft: i got five in the mail just today
02:49 PM roycroft: i should probably use one of them
02:50 PM roycroft: the balance tranfer fee is usually 3%
02:50 PM roycroft: 3% of $0 is $0, if i've done the maths correctly
02:52 PM XXCoder: no worries, they will stack tons of fees
02:55 PM roycroft: i think what's going on is that i use credit cards for almost everything, because i get rewards between 2% and 6% when i use them, depending on the card and the type of purchase
02:55 PM roycroft: as a result, my credit report always shows at least a couple thousand dollars in cc balances
02:55 PM roycroft: which is true, but i pay the cards off every month - i do not carry a balance
02:56 PM roycroft: but it may appear that i am carrying a balance
02:56 PM roycroft: but it seems the less i owe, the more offers i get
03:32 PM Tom_L: nice day to run parts with the door open
03:41 PM XXCoder: WHOA!
03:41 PM XXCoder: https://youtu.be/0tZLCCLMws4
03:41 PM XXCoder: new primitive tech video! been 2 years
04:12 PM perry_j1987: hmm how do you see WHICH direction it exceeds machine limits when axis complains of running a program
04:30 PM perry_j1987: probe tripped during non probe move
04:30 PM perry_j1987: ugh
04:56 PM _unreal_: great FPL florida power and light. just fucked up the internet. they have DUG up every front yard in the neiborhood
06:09 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjvlIjr4xck
06:18 PM _unreal_: just got one of these from the dumpster. looks to be in good condition wondering if it works. https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/165356/ETC1/EE06-FP1C1-K150.html
06:18 PM XXCoder: Tom_L: nice
06:20 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, mist or water in the air line?
06:21 PM Tom_L: coolant mist
06:21 PM XXCoder: mist can be made from any liquid im pretty sure lol
06:21 PM XXCoder: tom sorta surpised it doesnt clean up top surface
06:21 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Rustlick2.jpg
06:21 PM Tom_L: they get tumbled anyway
06:22 PM XXCoder: true and if I recall right, its quite tight on thickness
06:22 PM Tom_L: it is to thickness :)
06:22 PM Tom_L: but it's not critical
06:22 PM XXCoder: i guess im too used to working on aerospace standards
06:23 PM Tom_L: i know
06:23 PM Tom_L: every surface gets machined on them
06:24 PM XXCoder: manual tool change right?
06:24 PM Tom_L: yup
06:24 PM Tom_L: that's why i didn't show it continuous
06:24 PM XXCoder: any kind of automatic tool measure?
06:25 PM JT-Shop: a local machine shop made a thousand dog bones for the navy and the inspector asked them for the forging report, the owner said we made them from billet, the inspector said send them to the scrap yard then
06:25 PM Tom_L: all preset
06:25 PM Tom_L: i'd fire the inspector
06:25 PM Tom_L: billet is better material
06:25 PM JT-Shop: he didn't read the specs
06:25 PM JT-Shop: maybe not for that application
06:26 PM JT-Shop: a dog bone is the part that holds the aircraft in position while pressure builds up on the catapult so they have to break at a certain pressure
06:27 PM _unreal_: OH OH OH just remembered
06:27 PM _unreal_: hay any of you guys have any interest in a Mister? I have not put it up for auction yet only just got it home. need to get a #@$%!@#%!#@%$ chance to check it out....
06:28 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, so they don't have a latch release?
06:28 PM Tom_L: hard break away
06:28 PM _unreal_: it is a self contained system 10gal water tank, pump sitting on top
06:28 PM XXCoder: jt yeah specs detail out what material is accept and what arent. we have to use forged block full of hatred for some parts
06:28 PM XXCoder: well no hatred but I really hate forged blocks
06:29 PM _unreal_: designed for misting water "out door" on a hot day. could be used as a mist coolent system as well for machining
06:33 PM XXCoder: anyone want a tank? https://www.ebay.com/itm/265575929970?hash=item3dd58f1872:g:-9kAAOSw68ZiH~TW
06:35 PM roycroft: if it's cheap enough i'll buy it
06:35 PM roycroft: depending on how much shipping to ukraine would cost
06:35 PM XXCoder: its there already so free
06:35 PM roycroft: oh,it's already there
06:35 PM roycroft: i see
06:36 PM roycroft: a little blue and yellow paint and it would be ready to go again
06:39 PM _unreal_: So this bigger cnc machine I'm building. I've got a half mind to RIP the X AXIS totally apart/off
06:40 PM _unreal_: last night I got the Z dry fit
06:40 PM _unreal_: just the basic hardwre on rails nothing else
06:40 PM _unreal_: and got the spindle loose mounted
06:40 PM _unreal_: I can defelect the spindle by 1mm pushing on the X frame
06:40 PM _unreal_: in almost any direction
06:41 PM _unreal_: I could never see it till just last night
06:42 PM _unreal_: You guys have no idea how very tempted I am right now
06:42 PM _unreal_: not tonight
06:42 PM _unreal_: but to just say FUCK IT
06:42 PM _unreal_: I also now have "parts" BUILD material I could not afford at all for nothing when I was putting it togethetr
06:45 PM _unreal_: I assume I'm being ignored
06:52 PM _unreal_: well taking my daughter out to eat.. not sure where we are going. OH BTW... I just pulled a $1k ish karaoke machine machine in mint condition carry bag, with a full folder 100-200 disks, multi mics etc.... from one of the dumpsters today
06:52 PM _unreal_: hehe the stuff the luxury yachts toss
06:53 PM _unreal_: have not tested it yet. plan too soon
07:21 PM CloudEvil: :)
11:38 PM CaptHindsight[m]: XXCoder: https://cryptopotato.com/anonymous-offers-russian-soldiers-over-50k-worth-of-bitcoin-for-each-surrendered-tank-report/
11:39 PM XXCoder: lol interesting
11:41 PM CaptHindsight[m]: meanwhile in the USA graduates are asking where they can find Russian tanks to surrender to help payback student loans
11:43 PM XXCoder: yep
