12:10 AM XXCoder: roycroft: you in?
12:24 AM XXCoder: very cheap "Evaporust" https://youtu.be/f9kBdJQMPPI
01:51 AM Deejay: moin
01:59 AM randy: morning
02:10 AM Loetmichel: well, just got boostered, so off to work. Arrived: even the 30h battery basket 3d-print i did over the weekend at the company worked out well... good start into the week! (although i should have used less support... *combs the white plastic shards out of the hair...*)
02:42 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +vv by zirconium.libera.chat
05:04 AM Tom_L: morning
05:04 AM Tom_L: 23°F
05:10 AM Loetmichel: Ow! $me is awake now... i HATE SMPS heat sinks that are on rectified mains. Tickles!
05:21 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:25 AM JT-Cave: 22°F outside Coop Uno 51.2°F and Coop Deux 35.8°F... makes me wonder if the DS18B20 in Coop Uno is next to a hen is
11:02 AM roguish[m]: JT-Cave: recipe
11:02 AM * roguish[m] posted a file: (199KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/cPpvwgEKxndsIfRMtaeVpstN/southern%20sweet%20cornbread%20in%20a%20skillet.pdf >
12:24 PM JT-Cave: roguish[m], looks tasty
12:31 PM roycroft: i ordered 8 2TB NAS hard drives for a customer
12:31 PM roycroft: i received one of those, and 7 4TB "gaming" hard drives
12:31 PM roycroft: i'm trying to get this rectified, but the vendor is not understanding the problem
12:32 PM roycroft: they keep saying i should just keep them because they have twice the capacity to what i ordered
12:32 PM roycroft: and that i
12:32 PM roycroft: am lucky
12:32 PM JT-Cave: tell them you will keep them if they give you a full refund
12:35 PM roycroft: i just got an rma
12:36 PM roycroft: but it's funny that they are unwilling to understand that what they sent me is not suitable
12:36 PM roycroft: and they're really not - a gaming hard drive is the complete opposite to a nas hard drive
12:36 PM roycroft: a gaming hard drive is all about speed
12:36 PM roycroft: a nas hard drive is all about not dying prematurely
12:38 PM roycroft: the stickers on the outside of the boxes are for the correct item, but what is inside the boxes does not match the sticker on the outside
12:38 PM roycroft: so i'm dubious about getting replacements from the same vendor
12:38 PM roycroft: i might get more of the same
12:49 PM JT-MachineShop: not only did my part d go up 200% my copay went up 1400%!
12:51 PM roycroft: welcome to america
01:13 PM Tom_L: JT-MachineShop, order em S of the border
01:18 PM roycroft: or we could stop being a third-world country ourselves
01:21 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
01:25 PM Tom_L: that would just be to american like
02:17 PM unterhausen: I really wish I could block calls from 888 and 886 area code, spammers have decided to call every hour if not every 15 minutes.
02:20 PM JT-Shop: my s4 you could block numbers that begin with but my s10 lost that feature
02:27 PM roycroft: they can spoof numbers at will
02:28 PM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/images/chickens/elevated-dust-bath/edb-16.jpg
02:28 PM roycroft: as soon as they figure out that you're blocking them they'll start calling from other fake numbers
02:30 PM JT-Shop: that's why I never answer a call that's not on my call list, if they are legit they will leave me a message
02:30 PM * JT-Shop wanders down to the chicken yard to look at the door on coop uno
02:33 PM roycroft: i got a new phone a couple weeks go, and ported my number to the new carrier
02:33 PM roycroft: i was getting spam calls on my cell several times/day before the move, but have not received a single one since
02:34 PM roycroft: i wonder if the new carrier are successfully blocking fake cid calls
02:34 PM roycroft: a new federal law that recently went into effect requires all carriers to do that, but did not notice any difference at all when the law took effect
02:35 PM cradek: are you getting real calls? does it work?
02:35 PM roycroft: i am getting legitimate calls
03:38 PM CaptHindsight[m]: Mint lovers news https://betanews.com/2022/01/10/linux-mint-mozilla-google-firefox/
04:10 PM roycroft: we have an isp billing package that i generally hate
04:10 PM roycroft: i moved a couple of our support mailboxes to the new mail server, and went to reconfigure the billing system so it can retrieve the mails and open tickets
04:10 PM roycroft: i had forgotton how horrible it was
04:11 PM roycroft: they still do not support imap or ssl
04:11 PM roycroft: just plaintext pop3
04:11 PM roycroft: i contacted them and asked when they will support imap and ssl/tls
04:12 PM roycroft: they told me that "not many people" use those protocols, and they can't afford to support "every bleeding edge protocol"
04:12 PM roycroft: i'm wondering now how to do traceroutes that can detect wormholes, because i think these people are still living in 1993
04:13 PM roycroft: and i don't know how to do the two-way temporal displacment other than through a wormhole
04:26 PM cradek: hahaha not many people use imap
04:28 PM roycroft: only 99.5+ percent of users
04:29 PM roycroft: and i don't even allow non-tls connections to my mail servers, and haven't for years
04:29 PM roycroft: so 100% of users use ssl/tls
05:14 PM JT-Shop: freaking loose wire on the coop door... I need to clean up that electrical and make a sub panel
05:14 PM roycroft: maybe hire an electrician to be sure it gets done right?
05:17 PM JT-Shop: LOL
05:17 PM JT-Shop: I can do better when I have a plan but bit by bit gets messy
05:20 PM roycroft: our state legislature are considering banning "driving while hippie" traffic stops
05:21 PM roycroft: there is a bill being considered that would make it illegal for police to stop someone for a burned out headlight or tail light
05:25 PM JT-Shop: I have a guy asking for photos of the tire date code on a trailer that's for sale lol
05:26 PM CaptHindsight[m]: "solved the linuxcnc install conundrum and made a py3 working version installer for probe basic"
05:27 PM CaptHindsight[m]: from the QTPYVCP devs ^^
05:27 PM JT-Shop: trailer is 2010 but only been outside for 4-5 weeks during trips
05:28 PM Tom_L: roycroft, isn't that just a fixit ticket anyway?
05:28 PM CaptHindsight[m]: Andy is not around but does anyone know what usual headache is with building the new LCNC ISO's?
05:28 PM Tom_L: not me
05:28 PM JT-Shop: never figured it out
05:28 PM CaptHindsight[m]: is it having the installer and the Live on the same ISO?
05:28 PM JT-Shop: even with Jeff's instructions
05:29 PM Tom_L: seb might have some advice
05:29 PM Tom_L: or jeff
05:29 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, got the door fixed... freaking loose wire to the up relay
05:29 PM Tom_L: saw that
05:30 PM Tom_L: maybe you should take roy's suggestion :)
05:30 PM CaptHindsight[m]: Tom_L: about the LCNC ISO?
05:30 PM Tom_L: possibly
05:30 PM Tom_L: dunno who else would know
05:30 PM CaptHindsight[m]: Andy
05:30 PM Tom_L: andy did the rpi one
05:30 PM JT-Shop: no, the electricians around here are out of work carpenters
05:31 PM CaptHindsight[m]: and the last x86 release
05:31 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, nice dust bowl for the chickens to crap all over !
05:32 PM JT-Shop: aye it will be crapped on for sure but a fun build and I learned a lot
05:33 PM Tom_L: i couldn't figure out what the slots were for at first...
05:33 PM JT-Shop: I just hope the Cinnamon Queens don't take forever to like it
05:34 PM JT-Shop: I guess the ribs are so they don't lock up in transit
05:34 PM JT-Shop: I wanted the top to be flush
05:34 PM Tom_L: that or support for the lip?
05:34 PM Tom_L: for the lid
05:35 PM JT-Shop: I think it is just to space them apart when stacked in the box
05:35 PM JT-Shop: weird the Rhode Island Red hens are not on the roost and the Cinnamon Queens are
05:37 PM JT-Shop: sometimes I wonder what they are thinking for a moment or two
05:37 PM roycroft: and the carpenters out of work electricians?
05:38 PM Tom_L: where are jeff's instructions?
05:44 PM JT-Cave: hmm, let me think
05:45 PM JT-Cave: https://github.com/LinuxCNC/stretch-live-build
05:45 PM Tom_L: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Preseed
05:50 PM Tom_L: https://fai-project.org/FAIme/
05:56 PM JT-Cave: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0E6SQM
05:56 PM JT-Cave: hmm need the hole layout for that
06:13 PM Tom_L: a bit less than 2.76 x .63"
06:16 PM Tom_L: 2mm diameter
06:16 PM Tom_L: no info on spacing yet
06:21 PM Tom_L: 42 x 8?
06:22 PM Tom_L: don't ask how i arrived at that
06:24 PM Tom_L: sry i meant 44 x 8mm
08:35 PM roycroft: so those gaming hard drives are really expensive
08:35 PM roycroft: i could have kept them and flipped them and made some money easily
08:35 PM roycroft: but that's too much of a hassle
08:36 PM roycroft: and even though the vendor were being idiots it's best to send them back - the vendor will lose less getting them back than just letting me keep them
