02:16 AM veegee: or pretty much any kind of bearing. So the medical syringes are perfect. Just need to machine plungers. Also a fun thing to machine while your "DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY" sleep medication kicks in

04:33 PM dlarue: G91 so relative moves and lots of lines moving just .1mm and changing the spindle speed which would be changing the laser output power. That's how it works with GRBL and Smoothieware.

04:37 PM dlarue: correct, I just got the machine operating under LinuxCNC and just got hardware PWM control working. Not PDM but PWM at 5KHz. I've associated the PWM to spindle-speed after scaling it to 0-1000.

04:37 PM CaptHindsight[m]: if the machine is configured for slow moves it just ignores the high feed rates

04:39 PM JT-Shop: I find that most machine acceleration is 10-20 times higher than max velocity

05:44 PM dlarue: FYI, there's a woodworking group with like 100 members all in their 70+ who make amazing things but until 3 years ago knew nothing about digital tools. A friend got them to sell the huge CNC router so he could bring a 3D printer and a Shapeoko and start teaching them about them.

05:46 PM dlarue: Now, they have brought in a few hundred more members, they now have 2 Prusa 3D printers, 2 Shapeoko XXL's and 2 Chinesium 60W laser cutters and most all are booked by members constantly.

08:33 PM dlarue: noob here... trying to use LCNC for laser cutting with spindle S command doing laser power modulation. Problem is when rasterign at 254DPI every move is .1mm and has an Sxxx command which is majorly slowing motion.

08:40 PM dlarue: ya, I could use M106 as that's what is output by default in the laser CAM software for LinuxCNC but that would call a python script for every line of gcode and every move is .1mm so it'd be thousands for even a small rastered image.
