12:02 AM Bleepshop: XXCoder: Procto-Theological Engineering...
12:09 AM Bleepshop: Pull a design out of your ass and pray it works...
12:09 AM Bleepshop: xD
12:09 AM XXCoder: lol
12:09 AM Bleepshop: The onlo materials I have in abundance are oddball aluminum extrusions and leftover oak and cabinet grade plywood bits from a high end cabinet shop.
12:10 AM Bleepshop: The only thing I need to do now is come up with an easy to adjust hinge because the floor in here is about as level as a freeway onramp.
12:12 AM roycroft: so my parcel that was shipped from georgia, that arrived in portland yesterday and due to be delivered today, just left tallahassee
12:12 AM roycroft: and no, i did not order a boomerang
12:13 AM Bleepshop: That's OK. I ordered parts from Atlanta, they went to NYC, DC, bact to Atlanta and then finally headed this way. LOL
12:14 AM roycroft: because our postmaster general is so good at his job
12:48 AM XXCoder1 is now known as XXCoder
01:22 AM Deejay: moin
01:25 AM Bleepshop: Morning.
01:26 AM * Bleepshop is running an industrial data and power drop pole through the bandsaw.
04:25 AM Tom_L: morning
04:50 AM veek: what's a food safe paint for metals any spec?
04:59 AM CaptHindsight: https://github.com/h3cnc builds, install and runs... haven't tested with motors and measured repeatability yet
06:42 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
06:42 AM JT-Cave: morning
07:22 AM drdoc: morning, all
07:24 AM drdoc: CaptHindsight: I keep eyeballing this for the router head:
07:24 AM drdoc: https://www.ebay.com/itm/393128379114
07:25 AM drdoc: just a little too expensive for what it's got going
08:00 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, nice day for a long ride
08:01 AM JT-Cave: we are going to the Dairy Shack in Eminence
08:07 AM Tom_L: not Tx yet?
08:07 AM JT-Cave: we leave the 20th for tx
08:07 AM Tom_L: ahh
08:08 AM Tom_L: what's the dairy shack have? ice cream?
08:10 AM JT-Cave: yeah and all kind of stuff to eat
08:11 AM JT-Cave: it burned to the ground a few years ago and they rebuilt it
08:12 AM JT-Cave: https://www.mapquest.com/us/missouri/dairy-shack-353553590
08:12 AM JT-Cave: we take 21 up to 106 then take 19 back to 60 for the ride home
08:24 AM veek: how do you figure out the price for a specific plastic granule "Stamylan HD, 7890, DSM Polymers.BV with density of 0.952 MFI <0.1"
09:22 AM Tom_L: looks like a little over an hour each way
09:22 AM Tom_L: yard done, showertime
09:24 AM SquirrelMan5k is now known as JavaBean
10:12 AM JT-Cave: yeah it's a nice ride
12:01 PM mrec_: now I have the situation that linuxcnc can still jog but won't accept any g-code anymore
12:01 PM mrec_: is there any debug command available to dump the state of linuxcnc?
12:17 PM Tom_L: run from terminal with debug set at it's highest level
12:17 PM Tom_L: all the info will be in the terminal
12:18 PM Tom_L: in the .ini [EMC] section set DEBUG = xxx
12:18 PM Tom_L: xxx being a hex value
12:18 PM Tom_L: (look it up)
12:19 PM Tom_L: Debug level, 0 means no messages.
12:19 PM Tom_L: DEBUG = 0x7FFFFFFF
12:19 PM Tom_L: would be all
02:01 PM CaptHindsight: drdoc: the Atom have been kind of a dog with LCNC. I have found mini-itx with Celerons for better prices than that board
02:11 PM mrec_: Tom_L: there should be an option to enable it on the fly
02:12 PM mrec_: after restarting linuxcnc it worked again... there's clearly something wrong with it
02:12 PM mrec_: I guess some faulty g-code might have triggered that
02:13 PM mrec_: anyway my lathe works well, I just need to interface the spindle speed to increase the speed on the inner radius
02:44 PM flyback is now known as phlyback
02:48 PM phlyback is now known as flyback
03:40 PM drdoc: CaptHindsight: thanks, that's good to know
03:41 PM * Bleepshop smiles contentedly...
03:41 PM Bleepshop: Acetron-GP makes such nice parts even with hand tools...
03:53 PM Bleepshop: Of course it takes freaking forever to cut in the bandsaw to make those parts. LOL
04:08 PM veegee: Alright all my air tools getting a 1/4 MNPT to 3/8 M JIC fitting
04:09 PM veegee: much easier to connect/disconnect than NPT and much more compact than quick couplers
04:10 PM veegee: also can't have quick couplers without a whip hose on most tools because the vibration wears out the plugs and they get stuck in the coupler
04:15 PM JavaBean is now known as SquirrelMan5k
04:16 PM JavaBean|new|2 is now known as JavaBean
04:16 PM Tom_L: you don't use any coiled hoses?
04:20 PM JavaBean|new|2 is now known as JavaBean
04:22 PM veegee: Hell no
04:22 PM veegee: But the problem is vibrating tools always wreck the male quick coupler plug
04:22 PM veegee: directly attached whip hoses are the only way
04:35 PM XXCoder: hey all
04:45 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:49 PM veegee: I've finally mastered the art of making NPT connections
04:49 PM veegee: some of them are so stubborn, you have to use teflon tape and pipe dope
04:49 PM veegee: It's all about sealing that spiral leakage path
04:50 PM XXCoder: fun
04:50 PM veegee: Really pack that pipe dope into all the thread roots on both male and female threads
04:51 PM veegee: and follow "turns past finger tight" rule
04:54 PM Tom_L: i'd always use teflon or pipe dope
04:55 PM JT-Shop: that was a nice ride... time to relax with a Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier and some chickens
04:55 PM Tom_L: double flare copper is my least favorite one to make
04:56 PM Tom_L: don't go gettin the chickens saused now
05:10 PM JT-Shop: they knocked my beer into the compost bin
05:10 PM XXCoder: lol
05:10 PM XXCoder: drunk soil :P
06:26 PM * Bleepshop comes to the conclusion that cutting self-lubricating plastics in a bandsaw with a metal cutting blade is like trying to catch a self-greasing pig...
06:27 PM XXCoder: lol
06:27 PM XXCoder: that is why you use clamps on bandsaw if its automated "falling" cutting type
07:15 PM Bleepshop: XXCoder: Vise on a 4x6 with an auto shutoff. It still takes freaking foreever to cut 3 blocks off of a 1-1/2"x2-1/2" bar of Acetron.
07:17 PM * Bleepshop is going for thje 'Brute Force' approach in constructing an anchor point for the new monitor/keyboard arm.
07:17 PM XXCoder: lol ok
07:24 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:25 PM Bleepshop: I've got an old Hubbel aluminum power drop pole bolted to some 8020 spacers on the back corner of the table where it should clear the vacuum hose all the time. Fabricating the hinge to attach the arm to the pole from the 3 blocks.
07:32 PM * JT-Cave has never used Acetron before, I usually use a homopolymer acetal
07:37 PM XXCoder: nice
07:37 PM JT-Cave: XXCoder, hows the job search going?
07:38 PM Tom_L: delrin?
07:38 PM XXCoder: it sucks
07:38 PM JT-Cave: damn
07:38 PM Tom_L: not much better here yet
07:38 PM JT-Cave: nothing picking up yet?
07:38 PM XXCoder: yeah
07:38 PM Tom_L: housing is going for 30-40k over appraisal
07:38 PM Tom_L: if you can find one
07:39 PM XXCoder: im been doing physical theorpy for back
07:39 PM XXCoder: dizzyness too, but its not doing anything to it lol
07:39 PM XXCoder: back is improving slowly
07:39 PM JT-Cave: wow I assume that is due to the crazy building material prices
07:39 PM Tom_L: they're not building
07:39 PM Tom_L: minimal at best
07:40 PM JT-Cave: I can't blame them for not building lumber is 4-5 times the real value
07:40 PM Tom_L: in this market there were 400 single family dwellings listed
07:41 PM XXCoder: one of current issues in usa is that its costs only little more to build big houses vs small house, but much bigger profit
07:41 PM XXCoder: so we got way overstock of big houses and only few is buying.
07:41 PM XXCoder: and theres very few small houses on market people can afford
07:41 PM JT-Cave: no, small houses cost twice as much as last year
07:41 PM JT-Cave: osb is 4-5 times the normal price
07:41 PM Tom_L: problem is new families can't come up with the extra 30k they have to finance aside from the home loan
07:42 PM JT-Cave: yeah it's not a good time to be looking for a house
07:42 PM XXCoder: yeah
07:43 PM Tom_L: it's a great time to sell but you won't have anywhere to go
07:43 PM JT-Cave: buddy was going to have a house built and an $85k house was going to cost him $150k
07:43 PM XXCoder: man
07:43 PM XXCoder: 150k would be CHEAP here
07:43 PM JT-Cave: so he bought a modular house for $100k
07:43 PM XXCoder: our house is 400k
07:43 PM Tom_L: costs more near the coast too
07:43 PM JT-Cave: I'm talking a small house in rural Mo
07:44 PM JT-Cave: yeah
07:44 PM XXCoder: yeah
07:44 PM Tom_L: XXCoder, what's the sq ft?
07:44 PM XXCoder: uhh forgot
07:44 PM XXCoder: 1200 i think
07:44 PM Tom_L: that would probably be at least half that here
07:46 PM JT-Cave: holy crap I have 3000 sq ft of house and another 4000 sq ft of garage/machine shop/shop... it must be worth 10 million today lol
07:46 PM Tom_L: it's going to take a long time to recover if we ever do
07:46 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, i'd get lost
07:47 PM JT-Cave: chickens will lead the way...
07:50 PM JT-Cave: looks like T-posts are still a sane price so I'm going to enclose another area for the chickens to ravage
08:03 PM Bleepshop: JT-Cave: I've got some big blocks of the stuff that were drops from a sheet they cut up for the labs at UNM.
08:05 PM * Bleepshop wonders if the power pole will be strong enough to support this mess or if he'll be forced to replace it with something sturdier.
08:06 PM JT-Cave: cool, my middle name is Jimmy and I'll take almost anything you gimme
08:07 PM JT-Cave: time to tuck the chickens in and read them a bed time story
08:07 PM XXCoder: night lol
08:08 PM Bleepshop: The tale of Poullet al la Fricasse ? ;D
08:10 PM Bleepshop: My old lady has 2 ducks and every time I go in their pen to fix the fountain they both freak out like I'm holding a French cookbook and waving a cleaver while wearing a chef's hat. LOL
08:12 PM JT-Cave: lol
08:12 PM JT-Cave: but you don't use ducks for Coq Au Vin
08:13 PM JT-Cave: maybe the think your Chinese and Peking Duck is the dinner menu
08:18 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:41 PM roycroft: ducks are wiches
08:42 PM roycroft: you don't want to eat them
08:42 PM roycroft: they also weigh the same as wood
08:42 PM roycroft: witches, rather
08:42 PM roycroft: so instead of eating them, you burn them
08:43 PM XXCoder: Turducken
08:49 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:05 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:07 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvK9Q9X33PE LinuxCNC like's OpenPNP
10:08 PM CaptHindsight: machine vision guided Pick-n-Place
10:09 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44tGTOqv99A more of ^^
10:13 PM CaptHindsight: Orange pi pc Linuxcnc test run ARISC step generator (from last year) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npnIebFnaIU
10:40 PM Bleepshop: CaptHindsight: What's hte LED ring in hte front ?
10:48 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:51 PM CaptHindsight: Bleepshop: it the camera area to get the orientation for the part
10:52 PM CaptHindsight: camera looks at part, determines the rotational offset so that the arm places it directly onto the PCB pads in the right position
10:54 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM-YH0z9ICs
