12:08 AM veek: CaptHindsight, yep
12:14 AM veek: CaptHindsight, wanted to know if we could dig up more info besides a boring search
12:27 AM CaptHindsight: veek: what do you need?
12:28 AM CaptHindsight: veek: are you trying to make pcb's with a lithographic process?
12:53 AM veek: CaptHindsight, just reading about it making notes - trying to figure out what's what
12:54 AM veek: there are plenty of sprays and such on reddit
12:54 AM CaptHindsight: you can even purchase precoated boards with photoploymers on them
12:59 AM veek: ah yep https://www.kjell.com/no/produkter/elektro-og-verktoy/elektronikk/kretskort/laminat/glassfiberlaminat-fr4-dobbeltsidig-foto-100x160-mm-p89424
12:59 AM veek: (finally found it in my tabs)
05:09 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:12 AM XXCoder: hey'
05:12 AM XXCoder: im pretty upset over what might be small thing dunno
05:12 AM XXCoder: i read about one guy who worked with managing vaccines
05:12 AM XXCoder: that person intentionally left 27 vaccines out of cold storage
05:12 AM XXCoder: then mixed it in.
05:13 AM XXCoder: they had to throw 500 vaccines away
05:13 AM XXCoder: that person was fired, but I think there should be more.
05:18 AM Tom_L: morning
05:19 AM XXCoder: actually was 57. oops. doesnt change anythibng
05:20 AM Tom_L: mismanagement happens every day. this is just more public
05:20 AM XXCoder: it wasnt mismanagement
05:21 AM XXCoder: that person did it so less people would be vaccine, specifically.
05:21 AM XXCoder: +d
05:22 AM XXCoder: orginially they thought it was a mistake
05:22 AM XXCoder: but then worker admitted did it deliberately
05:24 AM Tom_L: should be considered a crime so he doesn't go somewhere else and do it again
05:25 AM XXCoder: gender was never said, thats why I avoided using he or she
05:26 AM XXCoder: https://www.tmj4.com/news/local-news/aurora-employee-fired-after-intentionally-removing-vaccine-from-refrigeration
05:31 AM Tom_L: gender OR race shouldn't matter ehh?
05:31 AM Deejay: hi
05:32 AM XXCoder: it doesnt.
05:32 AM XXCoder: i simply dont label gender when i dont have to.
05:49 AM norias: i didn't see intent in that article
05:50 AM XXCoder: person who did it, admitted it was intentional
05:51 AM norias: sure, but why
05:51 AM XXCoder: honestly I dont know, but very high likehood it was some crazy theory on bill gates, 5g and virus vaccines
05:52 AM norias: we may never know
05:52 AM norias: but i think it's hilarious you will assume intent but not gender
05:52 AM XXCoder: rationale dont really matter, as it was nasty act to do.
05:52 AM norias: it was
05:53 AM XXCoder: well youre correct
05:53 AM norias: i usually am
05:54 AM XXCoder: probably dunno lol
09:23 AM roycroft: it's the last day of the year from hell
09:24 AM roycroft: i hope everyone's new year goes better than this one has been
09:46 AM skunkworks: It will.
09:55 AM veegee: I just realized my lathe doesn't have locks for either the longitudinal or cross ways
09:55 AM veegee: my vertical mill has locks for x, y, z
09:56 AM veegee: what I mean by "locks" is those little things you turn by hand to prevent the axis from moving while you feed another axis
09:56 AM veegee: is it normal for a lathe not to have those?
09:57 AM gregcnc: carriage should have one
09:58 AM gregcnc: Z that is
09:58 AM gregcnc: which lathe?
10:00 AM roycroft: a lot of lathes do not have way locks for the z, but they usually do for x
10:01 AM roycroft: er, sorry - reverse that :)
10:01 AM roycroft: not x, but usually z
10:01 AM roycroft: except really small lathes often don't have any locks
10:01 AM gregcnc: good thing tha'ts cleared up
10:01 AM roycroft: it should not be difficult to add a lock for the z
10:02 AM roycroft: i'm not sure there's much of a point in having a lock on the x axis
10:14 AM Tom_L: sure there is. if you forget to unlock it, it will strip your powerfeed
10:16 AM roycroft: so an x axis lock would present an opportunity to tear down and refurbish the machine
10:16 AM roycroft: i suppose that's a feature for folks who enjoy tinkering with their machines more than making parts
10:33 AM _unreal_: trying to find something like this
10:33 AM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/Linear-Actuator-Stepper-Milling-Machine/dp/B07K7FQ245/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Linear+Stage+actuator&qid=1609431627&sr=8-17-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzS1JNOE01QzdNWFRGJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTYzODAwMVhOSjVSMzFaOTBPJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwMDU5OTEzM084VjdYVUhGRURGJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYnRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
10:33 AM _unreal_: smallest cheapest I can
10:41 AM _unreal_: OH DAMN I forgot all about it
10:45 AM _unreal_: damn I cant find a link to it but I have a nice little linear stepper that sould be able to drive the Z for my new laser setup easy
10:45 AM jymmmm: Morning
10:45 AM _unreal_: there is prob a few thou of play in it radialy
10:46 AM _unreal_: but that wont matter not for a laser
10:48 AM Tom_L: hi jymmmm
10:48 AM jymmmm: Hi Tom_L
11:03 AM _unreal_: so I have a mini ballscrew stepper setup
11:06 AM _unreal_: 2" stroke
11:06 AM _unreal_: very happy with this discovery
11:07 AM _unreal_: that should "SHOULD" be enough to move an LED laser head I should hope
11:09 AM _unreal_: I basiclly have this https://www.robotdigg.com/product/1320/Customized-non-captive-PM-stepper-motor-linear-actuator?gclid=CjwKCAiAirb_BRBNEiwALHlnD9zkUhjfSBiZKHNsv6QCpnjVjwm4803oFuWWc_ObvknscYUGM-OrwxoCbD0QAvD_BwE
11:14 AM _unreal_: the can is 25mmx15mm
11:14 AM Tom_L: get an old floppy stepper
11:14 AM Tom_L: printer stepper
11:14 AM Tom_L: copier stepper
11:14 AM Tom_L: any used stepper :)
11:14 AM _unreal_: I have plenty of steppers
11:15 AM _unreal_: I have no working data for theis stepper :(
11:15 AM Tom_L: you want linear why?
11:19 AM _unreal_: its just what I have
11:19 AM _unreal_: this is the closest I have found to what I have https://goot-motor.en.alibaba.com/product/60455643518-218298618/25mm_15_degree_Non_captive_linear_actuator_stepper_5V_12V.html
11:25 AM _unreal_: My laser unit its self is about 70g
11:26 AM _unreal_: and I believe my stepper has a holding torque of around 120-140 g-cm
11:26 AM _unreal_: so that would give it a 2:1 power/weight ratio. I dont know how to calculate ball screws
11:32 AM _unreal_: ? no one live
11:32 AM _unreal_: sigh
11:36 AM Tom_L: https://www.linearmotiontips.com/calculate-motor-drive-torque-ball-screws/
11:38 AM _unreal_: LOL that page is useless
11:38 AM _unreal_: I have no information on the motor I have or the ballscrew that is on it
11:38 AM _unreal_: sure I can measure the ballscrew but I still have no data for the motor
11:38 AM _unreal_: theres no information on it
11:39 AM _unreal_: I can only guess HAY its close in size the this one and like flavor
11:39 AM _unreal_: but thanks just the same
11:48 AM gregcnc: that's how it's actually done, but guessing is just as good.
12:17 PM _unreal_: damn it hot out
12:29 PM unterhaus: those calculators are useful if you have some ability to guess approximate values
12:30 PM unterhaus: and buy stuff that is properly spec'ed
12:37 PM _unreal_: ya I can only guess right now
12:37 PM _unreal_: I want to use it I also want to amke sure I'm not shorting my self in the future
12:38 PM _unreal_: tranted if I use the thing I'm looking at using its a no load
12:38 PM _unreal_: aside from the carriage weight
12:38 PM _unreal_: I could also add springs.
12:38 PM _unreal_: the only thing I'm looking at is using this for laser focus
12:39 PM _unreal_: Touch probe to find surface and then back off to a set height that "should" be in focus
01:03 PM _unreal_: nice calculator on that page https://www.cnczone.com/forums/diy-cnc-router-table-machines/35116-calculate-proper-lead-screw.html
02:56 PM perry_j1987: hows it going guys
02:56 PM Tom_L: rather quiet
03:08 PM sinned6915: can anyone recommend any sellers for collets and collet chucks on aliexpress?
03:12 PM CaptHindsight: sinned6915: have you checked shars.com, easier to return if there are problems but at the same Chinese quality
03:13 PM sinned6915: i always forget about them.
03:13 PM CaptHindsight: western burbs, been there several times for low cost low precision stuff
03:14 PM sinned6915: i went once, decided it was easier to pay shipping than spend the time
03:14 PM CaptHindsight: though the vises and surface plates have been great
03:14 PM sinned6915: they have been around long enough.
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: they stopped shipping for a while last summer
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: I have not checked lately
03:15 PM sinned6915: my only complaint has been often times, they are out of stock of the 1 thing i need and end up shopping elsewhere
03:15 PM sinned6915: i miss enco in EGV
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: me too
03:15 PM sinned6915: I have not been to KBC
03:17 PM CaptHindsight: MSC is just west of the airport
03:17 PM CaptHindsight: tend to have just one of all the most popular items
03:18 PM CaptHindsight: warehouse is near Indianapolis
03:18 PM sinned6915: tbh, McMarkup is not that much more expensive at times and they WILL have it if I need it NOW
03:19 PM CaptHindsight: for last minute items it's my go to
03:19 PM sinned6915: my conversion project is taking 10x long as I want.
03:19 PM roycroft: i refuse to buy from msc
03:19 PM roycroft: they are liars
03:19 PM sinned6915: i cant seem to find long enought blocks of time
03:19 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.hartlandtool.com/ has great stuff they make in house
03:20 PM roycroft: when they shut down enco they told me that they would honor the enco prices for the goods i bought from enco for a year
03:20 PM roycroft: they did not
03:20 PM roycroft: when i went to place an order for some items i had recently purchased from enco they charged me the msc price, not the enco price, which was about 30% higher
03:21 PM roycroft: and totally blew me off when i complained
03:21 PM roycroft: basically saying "if you want better prices start sending us 5 figure orders"
03:22 PM CaptHindsight: I only buy from MSC as a last resort
03:23 PM roycroft: i'd rather go without than buy from them
03:23 PM roycroft: they are dead to me
03:23 PM roycroft: and i'm sure they don't care
03:26 PM sinned6915: there used to be some descent mom & pop industrial supply houses in elgin and rockford, but they are sadly gone.
03:26 PM sinned6915: DoAll used to be good too
03:26 PM sinned6915: Everede moved from the NW Side to West Chicago
03:26 PM roycroft: there's only one local supplier here for machine tooling and fixtures
03:26 PM roycroft: they are really expensive, but they are local and i used to buy things from them on occasion
03:27 PM roycroft: once i bought a 4" imported vise from them
03:27 PM roycroft: it was cracked
03:27 PM roycroft: i brought it back
03:27 PM roycroft: i was told "when you buy import, you get what you get - you should have bought a kurt"
03:27 PM roycroft: and they refused to refund or exchange
03:27 PM roycroft: so they, too, are dead to me
03:28 PM roycroft: this was, at the time a $120 vise
03:29 PM roycroft: a 4" kurt would be more like $400
03:29 PM roycroft: and $120 is not chump change - it's enough money that i should be able to expect it not to be cracked
03:30 PM roycroft: imo, at least
03:30 PM sinned6915: CaptHindsight: Heartland has an interesting catalog, thanks for the tip!
03:30 PM * JT-Shop makes a second attempt at making some spacers for the sprockets on the planer
03:31 PM roycroft: you still don't have that running?
03:31 PM roycroft: i just generated a box joint template for the project i'm working on
03:32 PM roycroft: i went to save the file, and it took 18 minutes for the finder window to pop up
03:32 PM roycroft: that kind of kills my productivity
03:32 PM roycroft: it took less than a minute to generate the template
03:32 PM roycroft: and 30 seconds to print it
03:32 PM roycroft: something is amiss with this computer
03:33 PM JT-Shop: no, trying to get the infeed/outfeed sprockets to line up with the gearbox sprocket so the idler will work properly
03:37 PM roycroft: well i hope you get it going some time this year
03:37 PM JT-Shop: me too
03:38 PM * JT-Shop has temporarily stumped Automation Direct Support staff
03:40 PM roycroft: i found the document that has the pass phrase for my bitcoin wallet this morning
03:40 PM roycroft: i've been looking for it for three years
03:40 PM roycroft: so my year is ending on a positive note :)
03:41 PM CaptHindsight: sinned6915: they used to give you a big discount on your first order (hearthland)
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: roycroft: \0/
03:42 PM JT-Shop: if I can manage to ignore the massive air leak in the CHNC long enough I'll get those spacers made
03:43 PM roycroft: i mined almost 2 bitcoins a decade ago
03:43 PM roycroft: they've been stashed in my wallet ever since
03:44 PM roycroft: i stopped mining when the cost of electricity became more than the then value of the btc i was mining
03:44 PM roycroft: but now i have a nice little nest egg, and i may decide to cash at least some of it in
03:44 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, chances of you getting it going this year are getting slimmer by the minute
03:45 PM CaptHindsight: todays rate: 1 Bitcoin equals 29,149.60 United States Dollar
03:45 PM Tom_L: roycroft, you found your password then ehh
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: looks like it's getting ready for the bubble to burst
03:46 PM roycroft: yes
03:46 PM roycroft: and it should hit $30k again soon
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BTC-USD/
03:46 PM roycroft: i had totally blown btc off until it hit $10k three years ago
03:47 PM roycroft: then i decided it might be worthwhile finding the pass phrase and cashing out
03:47 PM roycroft: now it's triple that
03:47 PM roycroft: and expected to keep going up
03:48 PM roycroft: if it doubles again i'll be sitting on six figures
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: pump and dump
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: how lucky do you feel?
03:49 PM roycroft: i'm happy to have found it
03:49 PM roycroft: i don't think things go badly for me any more than the average person, but i also haven't gotten many lucky breaks in my life
03:49 PM roycroft: this is a nice one :)
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: I see no reasonable explanation for the current bubble, other than people scared
03:57 PM Tom_L: quote of the year: "You're on mute"
04:20 PM _unreal_: sinned6915, aliexpress the best thing to do is look at the reviews. better the reviews better your chances of having a "happy" experience"
04:35 PM XXCoder is now known as bIkhawk
04:35 PM bIkhawk is now known as XXCoder
05:03 PM JT-Shop: ignore is better lol
05:03 PM * JT-Shop can't believe how quiet the planer is now
05:04 PM Tom_L: nice, is it all done?
05:04 PM JT-Shop: not done yet, gotta clean the chain guard and put it on and pick up all my tools
05:04 PM JT-Shop: won't take long
05:04 PM Tom_L: find a chain link?
05:04 PM XXCoder: awesome jt :D
05:05 PM JT-Shop: yea mcmaster had 3/8" metric half links
05:05 PM XXCoder: nice.
05:15 PM Tom_L: supposed to get 4" over nite
05:15 PM Loetmichel: Happy new year from germany all over the world!
05:15 PM Tom_L: is it any better than 2020?
05:15 PM XXCoder: happy new year loet. hope it'll be better!
05:16 PM Loetmichel: same
05:16 PM XXCoder: did this happen? https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/343070336084082708/793789449673900062/nx831q41dl251.png
05:16 PM andypugh: I am in a skype call with my German friends, we are doing an extended new-year.
05:16 PM Tom_L: fun
05:17 PM XXCoder: what worries me more is parties :(
05:17 PM Tom_L: still having the ball drop
05:17 PM Tom_L: first responders get in times square the rest is blocked off
05:18 PM roycroft: people need to stay home this new year's eve
05:18 PM Tom_L: they should all be vaccinated so it's perfectly fine!
05:20 PM roycroft: next year, hopefully
05:20 PM Tom_L: sign on a local pub says 'For what alcohol won't cure there is no cure'
05:27 PM roycroft: i've a group of friends (three other people) who all worked together in the early '90s, and have been having dinner together weekly ever since
05:27 PM roycroft: it's been over 25 years we've been doing this
05:27 PM roycroft: we took a break last march, until july
05:27 PM roycroft: and then we would go to an outdoor venue once every few weeks
05:28 PM roycroft: we have been really careful, don't travel socially in other groups, and it seems like about as safe as it gets other than completely avoiding each other
05:28 PM roycroft: we had dinner last night for the first time in several weeks, again at an outdoor venue and distanced
05:28 PM roycroft: one of the group wanted us to get together for new year's eve at my house, which has been a tradition for the past 20 some years
05:29 PM roycroft: all the rest agreed immediately that it would be a very bad idea
05:29 PM roycroft: and that we're so close to vaccine time it would be horrible to get the virus because we let our guard up at the very end
05:32 PM roycroft: the one who suggested it has been showing early signs of dementia or, at least, some cognative diminishment, for a some time now
05:32 PM roycroft: so i'm not sure he was being intentionally reckless
05:35 PM JT-Shop: SWEET perfectly smooth and NO SNIPE!
05:42 PM JT-Cave: Tom_L, I finished before the end of the year
05:43 PM XXCoder: snipe is that indention at end due to exiting movement right>
05:44 PM JT-Cave: yea if the cutter head lifts the board it cuts deeper
05:48 PM JT-Cave: if the outfeed table rollers or outfeed roller is not adjusted correctly that can cause snipe
05:51 PM roycroft: the feed rollers are problematic
05:52 PM roycroft: if you're hogging off a lot of material you want them 0.003"-0.005" above the bed
05:52 PM roycroft: but that will cause snipe
05:52 PM roycroft: if you want to eliminate snipe you want them 0.001" or so above the bed
05:52 PM roycroft: but that will facilitate jams if you try to cut too much at a time
05:53 PM roycroft: and it's not an adjustment you can quickly make, so you don't want to do it mid-job
05:54 PM JT-Cave: yea, don't plan on hogging on the planer so deck rollers are set at 0.001"
05:54 PM JT-Cave: oh and the chip chute works perfectly
05:54 PM roycroft: awesome
05:54 PM roycroft: i have a job to do right now - i just came in from the shop to print some plans
05:55 PM roycroft: i haven't done anything with my table saw for a while
05:55 PM JT-Cave: I had a slab of hickory that had been jointed and ran that through just before quitting
05:55 PM roycroft: and i find that it's a bit "sticky"
05:55 PM JT-Cave: the blade or the table is sticky
05:55 PM roycroft: the table
05:56 PM roycroft: i really need to throw a scotch brite pad on an orbital sander, clean it up, and then shoot some boeshield on it
05:56 PM roycroft: but that will take longer than the job at hand
05:56 PM roycroft: which i want to get done this year
05:56 PM roycroft: i should have winterized the shop better
05:57 PM roycroft: i usually spend a full day in the fall doing exactly what i described above to all the machines
05:57 PM roycroft: so maybe i'll just scribble on it with some beeswax or carnauba wax and hope the boards will slide by ok
05:58 PM roycroft: it actually hasn't been that long since i used the table saw
05:58 PM roycroft: but winter is here
05:58 PM JT-Cave: yea I use paste wax usually
05:58 PM roycroft: and in my part of the world that means high humidity
05:58 PM roycroft: back east it's the opposite
05:58 PM JT-Cave: I have boeshield but not sure it's any better than johnsons paste wax
05:58 PM roycroft: my mill and lathe are well-coated with way oil
05:59 PM roycroft: i like boeshield a lot
05:59 PM roycroft: it works best if you can heat the cast iron surfaces first
05:59 PM roycroft: then apply it, and let it sit for a while before wiping it off
05:59 PM JT-Cave: didn't know that
05:59 PM roycroft: it penetrates pretty well, and lasts a long time
06:00 PM roycroft: i usually use the heat gun i use for heat shrink tubing
06:00 PM roycroft: i don't get it really hot, but fairly warm
06:00 PM JT-Cave: so I guess 3 weeks is not bad to rebuild an old planer
06:00 PM roycroft: no, not too bad
06:01 PM roycroft: and with that new insert head it will work so well
06:01 PM roycroft: and will last another 30 years before it needs major servicing again
06:01 PM roycroft: at which point you'll be well beyond caring about it
06:02 PM roycroft: well, back to the shop
06:02 PM roycroft: happy new year, if i don't see you folks again before then!
06:04 PM JT-Cave: happy new year
06:04 PM JT-Cave: I had to shim the planer up 0.125" just to be able to get the outfeed/infeed tables at the correct height
06:59 PM Tom_L: done in the nick of time :)
07:11 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, how could it have been off that far in the beginning and work ok?
07:11 PM Tom_L: due to the new blade?
07:34 PM _unreal_: I wish I knew what the motion controller on this thing is
07:34 PM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HV57Y5M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
07:34 PM _unreal_: I know WHAT it is but I wish I knew the modle so I could look at it
07:34 PM _unreal_: sigh
07:35 PM _unreal_: ve7it, sup
07:35 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I just had a thought.
07:55 PM flyback is now known as Star2021
07:55 PM Star2021 is now known as flyback
10:06 PM XXCoder: good. that person who spoiled vaccines got arrested!
10:08 PM roycroft: that whole situation is just bizarre
10:08 PM roycroft: that pharmacist, if the story holds true, should be locked up for years
10:09 PM XXCoder: i dont know if pharmacist or just logistics
10:09 PM roycroft: he allegedly admitted to doing it intentionally
10:09 PM roycroft: and on two occasions
10:10 PM roycroft: i'd like to know why
10:10 PM Tom_L: who cares, they're nuts
10:11 PM roycroft: yes, but there is individual nuts and organized, collective nuts
10:11 PM roycroft: if this guy is just a wacko that's one thing
10:11 PM skunkworks: there is currently too much collective nuts...
10:11 PM Tom_L: i don't expect that to change
10:12 PM roycroft: but if he's part of some group that intend to sabotage the vaccination program, that's quite another thing
10:12 PM roycroft: so i'd like to know why he did it
10:12 PM Tom_L: can you change it?
10:12 PM roycroft: i've already heard that he's a "lefty" who wants to prolong the pandemic
10:12 PM roycroft: and i've heard that he's a "maga" who doesn't believe in the pandemic and thinks the vaccine is a hoax
10:13 PM roycroft: but i haven't heard any of that from any credible source
10:13 PM roycroft: willful ignorance of everything one cannot personally and directly control is not a wise way to live, i should think
10:14 PM roycroft: so i don't think that my ability to change something should be a prerequisite for my wanting to know about it
10:20 PM XXCoder: roy honestly no idea at all
10:20 PM XXCoder: higher possibility is anti-vax
10:20 PM XXCoder: they didnt even reveal gender of that person
10:30 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, ?
10:31 PM _unreal_: roycroft, if you interested in that aspect. I'm interested in who/they voted for
10:32 PM pfred1: roycroft so you believe that Joe Xiden got more votes than anyone in history ever has?
10:33 PM XXCoder: who is joe xiden?
10:34 PM XXCoder: I dont see any reason to belive so when it actually happened
10:35 PM pfred1: XXCoder 10% for the Big Guy!
10:35 PM XXCoder: what does that even mean
10:35 PM pfred1: it means Joe wants his cut
10:35 PM XXCoder: of what?
10:36 PM pfred1: of the action
10:36 PM XXCoder: what action?
10:36 PM pfred1: don't you know how crime families work?
10:36 PM pfred1: you always have to kick up a cut
10:37 PM XXCoder: interesting. i doubt that. (presses x)
10:37 PM pfred1: I'm getting on that plane in six hours!
10:38 PM pfred1: Quid Pro Quo Joe
10:38 PM _unreal_: pfred1, Im palm slaping to my face right now
10:38 PM _unreal_: regardless https://www.amazon.com/Engraving-Machine-Motherboard-Driver-Controller/dp/B07RQZGD35
10:38 PM _unreal_: am I STUPID? why is there 3 motor sockets, and 2 motor drivers?
10:39 PM pfred1: _unreal_ so Joe was lying when he told that story?
10:39 PM _unreal_: that apears to be the motor controller that comes with my laser etcher I ordered
10:39 PM pfred1: wouldn't be the first time I suppose
10:39 PM _unreal_: I dont understand how its suposed to have 3 motor connections and 2 drivers. unless its paralleling ONE driver to two motors
10:40 PM pfred1: _unreal_ then you do understand it
10:40 PM _unreal_: pfred1, honistly, there is no such word in the english language as fraud. only a fool would believe a made up word
10:40 PM _unreal_: ;)
10:41 PM pfred1: _unreal_ 1984 was not written as a how to manual
10:41 PM _unreal_: so regardless trying to understand why that control board has 2 drivers and 3 motor connections
10:41 PM _unreal_: he
10:41 PM _unreal_: heh
10:42 PM XXCoder: “What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening” 1984
10:42 PM pfred1: don't believe your lying eyes?
10:42 PM _unreal_: wholy hell lots of fireworks going off
10:43 PM XXCoder: oops my mistake
10:43 PM XXCoder: it was not from 1984 book
10:43 PM XXCoder: it was from trump
10:43 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, how dare you make a mistake
10:45 PM _unreal_: good lord I keep burping
10:45 PM XXCoder: “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command” 1984
10:45 PM _unreal_: My eyes can hear just fine
10:46 PM _unreal_: and crickets
10:47 PM pfred1: my ears have seen more corruption than I was aware was going on
10:48 PM pfred1: when I saw that 92% of Washington DC voted one way I knew that the swamp wanted their own back again
10:49 PM pfred1: with crooked Joe at the helm everyone ense can play their little games then too
10:49 PM XXCoder: you probably think trump is far better
10:50 PM roycroft: how about we spend this last night of the year not arguing politics? :)
10:51 PM pfred1: least Trump didn't raise a crackhead that goes around knocking up strippers
10:51 PM roycroft: i guess that's not possible
10:51 PM XXCoder: lol yeah strippers is worse than literally breaking democacy
10:51 PM XXCoder: sorry my mistake
10:52 PM roycroft: of course, none of this has anything to do about politics at all
10:52 PM pfred1: XXCoder you call what happened this last election democracy?
10:52 PM roycroft: it's about tribalism and hatred
10:53 PM roycroft: but it would be nice if we could set that aside for an evening too
10:53 PM pfred1: XXCoder you are going to see what happens when democracy breaks down on the 6th
10:53 PM XXCoder: lol
10:54 PM pfred1: get your popcorn ready
10:54 PM XXCoder: nah I wont waste any
10:54 PM XXCoder: because unless boogaya people gets in action, nothing will happen.
10:54 PM * roycroft is still trying to decide which marx brother film to watch tonight
10:55 PM pfred1: I cannot believe they setup fan people in Times Square
10:55 PM roycroft: the last time i did not have friends over for new year's eveve was exactly ten years ago, when i was recovering from pneumonia and could hardly get out of bed
10:55 PM pfred1: this is the reality I am living in
10:56 PM roycroft: but we always watch a marx brothers film on nye
10:56 PM XXCoder: roy we invited exactly one person over for party
10:56 PM roycroft: it's been a tradition for me since i was a little kid

10:57 PM XXCoder: ah! person who destroyed vials is pharmacisyt
10:57 PM roycroft: yes
10:57 PM roycroft: that's a big reason i'm interested in his motive
10:57 PM XXCoder: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/772700634561511434/794424340484718592/IMG_20201231_204439.jpg
10:57 PM XXCoder: hes male
10:59 PM _unreal_: pfred1, I would suggest installing talk stream live onto your phone, and listening to "Howie Carr"
11:00 PM pfred1: _unreal_ I am watching fan people in Times Square
11:00 PM _unreal_: you would be amazed at how much of the stuff they talk about and have BEEN talking about that no one knew was going on. I've pointed out for ever....
11:00 PM _unreal_: fan people?
11:00 PM pfred1: yes like those things they put in front of car dealerships
11:00 PM pfred1: fan people
11:00 PM pfred1: that's what's in Times Square this year in place of crowds
11:01 PM pfred1: it is surreal
11:02 PM XXCoder: fan people?
11:02 PM _unreal_: 10min till new years in EST
11:02 PM pfred1: my PC clock must be wrong
11:02 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, ya fan people tossed me for a loop too
11:03 PM _unreal_: pfred1, ?
11:03 PM _unreal_: My phone and pc are in synk
11:03 PM _unreal_: got 9min left EST
11:08 PM pfred1: apparently they are called danding tubes
11:08 PM pfred1: dancing tubes even
11:08 PM roycroft: is dick clark's head in a jar at times square tonight?
11:09 PM pfred1: when I went it was before they used to put on a show
11:09 PM pfred1: they dropped the ball and that was it
11:09 PM pfred1: was enough
11:11 PM pfred1: there's a ticToc ad over the ball?
11:12 PM roycroft: happy new year, east coasters
11:12 PM pfred1: we are truly well and done
11:12 PM JavaBean: 2020, the prequel to 2021 is finally over
11:12 PM pfred1: it remains to be seen just how happy 2021 will be
11:12 PM roycroft: i don't think it can possibly be as bad as this year turned out (it's not midnight here yet)
11:13 PM pfred1: I've a feeling we'll be remembering 2020 as the good old days though
11:13 PM XXCoder: hah no
11:13 PM roycroft: there is zero chance of that
11:13 PM XXCoder: im unemployed most of 2020, as well as plague. there wont be much good memories for me
11:13 PM pfred1: back when we used to be able to buy food in stores
11:13 PM Tom_L: you mean 2020 won
11:14 PM roycroft: no
11:14 PM JavaBean: sorry, xxcoder... got bad news for you... "hindsight is 20/20" is a misheard comment from a timetraveler
11:14 PM roycroft: there's no winning or losing there
11:14 PM roycroft: it was just a bad year
11:14 PM XXCoder: lol
11:14 PM roycroft: for several reasons
11:14 PM pfred1: the coof was far from the plague the media portrayed it as
11:15 PM roycroft: i'm not about declaring winning or losing
11:15 PM roycroft: i'm about moving on
11:15 PM roycroft: and making the future better
11:15 PM pfred1: the actual plague wiped out 30% of the population
11:15 PM pfred1: COVID is about 0.3% fatal
11:16 PM JavaBean: sit back, we still have some time to go before peeps stop dieing so much from this
11:16 PM XXCoder: lol pf
11:16 PM XXCoder: 1% for below 40 in wa state
11:16 PM XXCoder: 9% for 40-50s something, and rises fast
11:17 PM XXCoder: im not below 40 years old.
11:17 PM pfred1: people falling off ladders are being declared COVID deaths
11:17 PM roycroft: if you're talking about the mortality rate, that's not for the total population
11:17 PM XXCoder: stop listening to infowars and berietbart news
11:17 PM roycroft: not even, i think, for people who test positive
11:17 PM roycroft: those rates are for people who are hospitalized
11:17 PM pfred1: the CDC has the chart on their website go look at it
11:17 PM roycroft: however, that's still a significant number
11:18 PM roycroft: and far greater than the seasonal flu
11:18 PM JavaBean: infowars picked up that info??? i guess they do do some investigation
11:18 PM roycroft: and it's still growing exponentially
11:18 PM pfred1: people that died of posioning have been declared CIVID deaths
11:18 PM XXCoder: roy that new variant is "fun" one :(
11:18 PM roycroft: phred1: shut the fuck up
11:18 PM pfred1: roycroft get fucked
11:18 PM XXCoder: roy theres a way to do that
11:19 PM roycroft: i'm not going to sit here and try to be nice when people are spouting that kind of vitriol
11:19 PM pfred1: roycroft you piece of fucking shit
11:19 PM XXCoder: it sucks when person just falls into bullshit conspicy stuff
11:19 PM roycroft: i'm trying to be nice tonight, and avoid contentious issues
11:19 PM XXCoder: my uncle is qanon
11:19 PM pfred1: roycroft do not ever assume you can tell me what to do
11:19 PM XXCoder: and he says utter nonsense stuff
11:19 PM pfred1: roycroft and that is no conspiracy
