01:44 AM Deejay: moin
04:50 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:50 AM XXCoder: yo
05:49 AM howto: good day people it is I and i have slightly new questions :)
05:50 AM howto: i saw the mesa card 7i92 with parallel port. is there another that has the parallel port and more options to add homing switches and such?
05:51 AM howto: will be connected to a step four basic 540 cnc and i will still use the dell precision m6600
05:51 AM howto: and if can be bought from europe so i do not have to sell my house to pay customs and other taxes
05:52 AM howto: yes i realise my only option now is a mesa card so lets skip the i told you so part please and help a brother out
05:55 AM howto: so the short question would be: is there a better card than mesa 7i92 for the cnc and laptop that i have? or is there a better option that can still use the parallel port + other pins where i can add more things like homing switches, sensors or other like such?
05:55 AM gloops: if using parport, whats wrong with a breakout board?
05:57 AM howto: gloops i dont understand what you are asking
05:58 AM howto: the laptop does not have the latency needed and mesa7i92 uses the ethernet port to connect to cnc making the existing cnc controller not realising that it is not connected to the parallel port
05:59 AM gloops: ahh so not parport
06:00 AM gloops: i cant help with that
06:00 AM howto: but i also realise that for homing sensors i would need 3 more pins wich....gloops you dont understand ... want to use existing parallel port of the cnc controller wich 7i92 provides
06:01 AM howto: gloops the only help i received with parport in my situation was to change my computer
06:01 AM gloops: yes sorry i thought you were building from scratch with linuxcnc control
06:01 AM howto: ooh you thoght that iwas building a cnc...that would be pointless
06:02 AM howto: i allready have the cnc it is a stepfour basic 540 with parport controller
06:02 AM howto: gloops .... and i also have the laptop with the parallel port docking station
06:03 AM howto: but the latency test gives me very high numbers on latency test
06:03 AM howto: so the crowd on this channel gave me 2 solutions:
06:03 AM howto: 1 change the pc allltogether
06:04 AM gloops: yes
06:04 AM howto: 2 use a mesa card through the ethernet plug of the existing computer
06:04 AM gloops: $30 solution
06:04 AM howto: for you
06:04 AM howto: for me in my country it is not so available
06:05 AM howto: and i would have another pc in he room which would be too much
06:05 AM howto: so...
06:05 AM gloops: well, scrap the stepfour controller, buy old PC $30, buy a set of drivers $60 - install linuxcnc
06:07 AM gloops: the ethernet solution i dont know
06:07 AM howto: gloops your solution is way too radical are you sure you arent friend with all ah or something :))
06:07 AM howto: gloops the machine works rght now but
06:08 AM howto: for my sanity check i would have liked to solve the rtapi task 1 error if possible
06:08 AM howto: i havent saw the machine loosing steps or something
06:08 AM gloops: dont try to fix what isnt broken ;)
06:09 AM howto: gloops...exactly and your solution would have been way to wasteful
06:09 AM gloops: its more flexible though
06:09 AM howto: so..what i was asking a mesa card 7i92 would have solved the rtapi error?
06:10 AM gloops: you can add, change, upgrade the components as you like
06:10 AM howto: and the second question was:
06:10 AM howto: is there another better mesa card that provides extra pins and the existing parallel port pins
06:10 AM howto: ?
06:11 AM gloops: pcw_home
06:11 AM howto: so mesa card experts you can open the solution faucets now
06:12 AM howto: is he the guy that knows about mesa cards?
06:13 AM gloops: hes one, JT, andy, Tom and others, whether theyre around or too busy doing other stuff to explain is another thing
06:15 AM howto: i am upgrading thee quadro 4000m to 5000m in the laptop since probably gonna do some CAD on the thing too
06:21 AM howto: so if someone has a mesa card that won't use i would be happy to take it of his hands.
06:27 AM howto: the beset option i see is the mesa 7i92m it has the parallel port pins and the extra pin header for other things
06:27 AM howto: best*
06:44 AM JT-Cave: if you have linuxcnc uspace installed on the laptop then run latency-histogram --nobase in a terminal for a few hours and if the latency stays below 100us you can use that laptop for ethernet mesa card
06:45 AM * JT-Cave heads out to the chickens to start their day
07:50 AM Tom_L: morning
08:01 AM JT-Cave: morning
08:04 AM Tom_L: what's the shooting range distance ?
08:05 AM Tom_L: some are up to 100 yds
08:15 AM JT-Cave: this is indoor so I think 25-30 yds
08:16 AM Tom_L: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2013/05/f1/Range_Design_Criteria.pdf
08:21 AM JT-Cave: I didn't see anything about target retrieval systems in that... maybe I missed it?
08:21 AM Tom_L: still scanning
08:21 AM Tom_L: they don't say alot about it
08:22 AM JT-Cave: wow M33 .50 has a range of 7,108 yds
08:23 AM Tom_L: saw that
08:23 AM Tom_L: ~P30 mentions target carriers
08:31 AM Tom_L: if he allows rifles you might consider 100yd targets as a possibility
08:32 AM gloops: in this country we're limited to air rifles and catapults, 30 yards
08:32 AM JT-Cave: the house is not that long lol
08:32 AM Tom_L: that makes it easier
08:32 AM JT-Cave: he's converting a house to indoor firing range
09:16 AM andypugh: gloops: That’s not entirely true, you can still own and shoot shotguns and rifles.
09:55 AM gloops: well yes licensed and in specific places, although i think you may need a license for an air rifle and catapult now
09:57 AM gloops: hmm no, the old regs are still in place for those
12:42 PM _unreal_: FACK my life FINALLY it works got all 3 axis working
12:42 PM _unreal_: been going NUTS
12:42 PM _unreal_: I dont FUCKING know how
12:42 PM _unreal_: but some how the settings got screwed up in my LCNC for the mesa
12:43 PM _unreal_: been going NUTS trying to figur out why I could only get 2 axis going
12:43 PM _unreal_: turned out I had 3 fucked up things happen
12:43 PM gloops: is this a declaration of final victory _unreal_ ?
12:43 PM _unreal_: could be
12:43 PM _unreal_: turns out I had a fray in my Y motor plug going to the control box
12:43 PM _unreal_: so it was shorting out one coil of Y
12:44 PM gloops: gets them every time
12:44 PM _unreal_: it was working but acting odd
12:44 PM roycroft: it's not over until the router carves the fat lady singing
12:44 PM _unreal_: that could also be why I blew two of the controllers
12:44 PM _unreal_: I did so much swapping who knows
12:45 PM _unreal_: so at this point I'm going to crack open all of them to DBL check
12:45 PM _unreal_: I was like HOW..... its not possible
12:45 PM gloops: that was the period that did me, i drifted day by day in and out of sanity
12:45 PM _unreal_: I isolated every single stinking lead with heat shrink
12:45 PM gloops: 'its working but..'
12:45 PM gloops: that bit
12:46 PM _unreal_: it had to do with the outer shroud
12:46 PM _unreal_: of the plug
12:46 PM _unreal_: there is a SHARP part inside the press form of the plug
12:46 PM _unreal_: and if you have to much pressure "lots of wires" it can press on it
12:47 PM _unreal_: so I think I had an existing cut in the wire shroud and the pressure opened it more
12:47 PM _unreal_: also some how I had 3 sets of X settings in pnconfig for the mesa
12:47 PM _unreal_: which I do NOT understand
12:47 PM _unreal_: x was defined to 0 3 and 4
12:48 PM _unreal_: so I was going nutty trying to figure out why I couldnt get x to even move
12:48 PM _unreal_: my next trick is I neede help with getting VCP
12:48 PM _unreal_: setup
12:48 PM _unreal_: its installed by not working with the mesa I guess?
12:49 PM _unreal_: also I did get my Z drive system 95% finished I'll post a photo later'
12:49 PM _unreal_: also I did get my Z drive system 95% finished I'll post a photo later'
12:49 PM _unreal_: also I did get my Z drive system 95% finished I'll post a photo later
12:49 PM _unreal_: sigh
12:49 PM _unreal_: I am not a fan of this logitech keyboard. airrow up and shift are next to each other
12:50 PM _unreal_: gets me all the time and I scroll up a line
12:50 PM _unreal_: never notice
12:50 PM _unreal_: heh
01:17 PM _unreal_: finally
01:17 PM _unreal_: I dont even seem to be getting ODD step issues now
01:17 PM _unreal_: I think it was shorting and causing power loss which was fucking the other motors as well
01:29 PM _unreal: ok
01:29 PM _unreal: so I need help getting probe basic setup
01:29 PM _unreal: it loads but I have no motion control
01:30 PM _unreal: in axis it works fine.
01:30 PM _unreal: never setup probe before so I dont know what I need to do to get it setup with the mesa
01:30 PM _unreal: ?
01:30 PM _unreal: any one live?
01:32 PM _unreal: hello?
01:35 PM _unreal: no one home?
01:36 PM andypugh: I imagine that more of us are home than is usual.
01:36 PM andypugh: But I don’t know anything much about Probe Basic.
01:37 PM _unreal: its installed but does not apear to be communicating by default with the mesa
01:37 PM _unreal: and vcp/probe basic does not appear in the pnconfig software
01:38 PM andypugh: How did you get to where you are now?
01:38 PM _unreal: ahh followed the setup page
01:38 PM _unreal: https://kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/quick_start.html
01:38 PM _unreal: which has very little info
01:39 PM _unreal: just THIS=INSTALL
01:39 PM _unreal: not much for follow up
01:39 PM andypugh: The easiest way is probably to copy your (working) axis config folder then change the GUI in the INI to Prob Basic. But there is probabky a bit more needed than that.
01:41 PM _unreal: I believe I tryed that and failed baddly
01:41 PM _unreal: I am really torn between half stepping and 8 micro steps
01:42 PM _unreal: huge speed difference, but DAMN those motors are strong and make a lot of vibration
01:43 PM rs[m]: andypugh: no this works, did it myself like this
01:45 PM _unreal: sup rs[m]
01:45 PM _unreal: got things working finally
01:45 PM _unreal: discovered a few ISSUES
01:45 PM _unreal: that were likely the root of my issues
01:46 PM _unreal: rs[m], I need to get probe basic setup and workin. its installed but does not seem to be setup for the mesa. I have yet to find anything on line talking about getting the mesa working
01:46 PM _unreal: with probe basic
01:48 PM rs[m]: _unreal: as andypugh said, make it work with axis
01:48 PM rs[m]: first
01:49 PM _unreal: it works fine with axis
01:49 PM _unreal: beenw orking fine
01:50 PM rs[m]: open ini file in editor and change gui to probe basic
01:51 PM _unreal: which ini file?
01:51 PM _unreal: in which folder
01:51 PM _unreal: I have the pnconfig file
01:52 PM _unreal: and its folder, and a probe basic folder
01:52 PM rs[m]: how should i know. the ini file from your working axis configuration
01:53 PM _unreal: ok I changed it
01:53 PM _unreal: and booted probe basic
01:53 PM _unreal: still no joy
01:54 PM _unreal: in PNCONFIG it does not list probe basic
01:55 PM Tom_L: it won't
01:55 PM Tom_L: add it to the ini
01:55 PM Tom_L: some things require veering off the main highway to side roads to get there
01:56 PM _unreal: my_LinuxCNC_machine_working.ini
01:56 PM _unreal: I added probe basic to the gui string
01:56 PM Tom_L: bbl
01:56 PM _unreal: didnt do anyhing for me
01:56 PM rs[m]: pebkac
01:56 PM _unreal: hehe dont know what that is/means
01:56 PM rs[m]: problem exists between keyboard and chair
01:57 PM _unreal: well thats a new one for me
01:57 PM _unreal: and could be
01:57 PM rs[m]: sorry, but why did you start pncconf again
01:57 PM _unreal: I can not find any online walk thoughts
01:57 PM _unreal: to look
01:58 PM skunkworks: the leadshine drive seems to work so far...
01:59 PM skunkworks: after flowing the 2 new mosfets
02:00 PM rs[m]: _unreal: editing ini files is not rocket science
02:00 PM _unreal: I am aware
02:00 PM _unreal: the issue is I dont know hwere to start with no online guides
02:01 PM rs[m]: with your working axis configuration
02:01 PM _unreal: so I went to it and changed its gui choise from axis to "probe basic"
02:01 PM _unreal: still is not directing to the motion controller or HAL or anything
02:03 PM rs[m]: i don't understand
02:03 PM rs[m]: does it still show axis?
02:03 PM _unreal: I followed this
02:03 PM _unreal: https://kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/quick_start.html
02:03 PM _unreal: its installed
02:04 PM _unreal: go to my /linuxcnc/mymachine.... folder edit the mymachine....ini file
02:04 PM _unreal: change the GUI choice from axis to probe basic save close
02:04 PM _unreal: boot up linuxcnc
02:04 PM _unreal: and it just gives the normal chiose menu I pick probe basic
02:04 PM _unreal: and it pops up no issues. andI mean the motion not the sim
02:04 PM _unreal: no conrol no nothing its not trying to access the motion controller
02:05 PM _unreal: so that means pobe basic is not accessing the HAL
02:05 PM rs[m]: you need to choose the "my machine" config
02:05 PM rs[m]: the one you edited
02:05 PM _unreal: !
02:05 PM _unreal: I didnt try that
02:06 PM _unreal: error
02:06 PM rs[m]: i guess probe basic ad gui choice is actually spelled probebasic
02:07 PM rs[m]: no, sorry, probe_basic
02:08 PM _unreal: https://pastebin.com/1jnRN7yp
02:10 PM _unreal: ? OK that got it
02:10 PM _unreal: ?????? x isnt moving
02:10 PM _unreal: y/z working
02:10 PM rs[m]: back to square 1
02:11 PM _unreal: ok switching back t axis see if x is mving
02:12 PM _unreal: and x works
02:12 PM _unreal: god damn wtf
02:15 PM _unreal: any idea's what could be causing x to not function?
02:15 PM _unreal: I'm not getting any errors?
02:15 PM _unreal: also when I press x +/= it does not show x as even moving
02:16 PM _unreal: no change in the numbers, so its not even ghost moving
02:17 PM rs[m]: probe basic is neither finished nor polished
02:18 PM _unreal: any thoughts on what to look into/at next?
02:18 PM rs[m]: try moving x with g0
02:18 PM _unreal: ? it fucking moved
02:19 PM _unreal: well thats anoying
02:19 PM _unreal: at least it moves but WTF hehe
02:19 PM rs[m]: yeah maybe buttons don't work for some reason. i suggest you get in contact with probe basic ppl, there used to be a irc channel and a matrix channel
02:20 PM _unreal: next thing I need to get working is my pendent
02:21 PM _unreal: if I can get the pendent working I can live with out dealing with the on display controls
02:21 PM rs[m]: that doesn't really have to do anything with the gui
02:21 PM _unreal: what doesnt?
02:21 PM _unreal: my pendent?
02:21 PM rs[m]: pendant
02:21 PM _unreal: I have a whb04-06
02:22 PM _unreal: the other issue I have to solve now... totally dumbfounding, my limits are all fucking up. giving faulse sensing
02:22 PM _unreal: before when I had them setup before swaping around controllers they were rock solid
02:23 PM _unreal: not sure what is going on/happend
02:23 PM _unreal: heeh
02:23 PM _unreal: i litterally just un pluged the wires from one controller and put them to an other
02:23 PM _unreal: and back
02:23 PM _unreal: they are showing up on the LED feed back on the board just fine
02:23 PM _unreal: so who knows
02:23 PM _unreal: may hve to add an external filter or something
02:24 PM _unreal: the estop button which is in the same wire group is not having feed back issues though. totally dumbfounding
02:24 PM rs[m]: i bet it is a missing gnd line
02:24 PM rs[m]: s/line/connection/
02:26 PM _unreal: ok next quick issue so I dont have to keep rebooting
02:26 PM _unreal: how to re-establish the mesa networking?
02:27 PM _unreal: it was using systemctl restart networking
02:27 PM _unreal: but now its giving me an error?
02:27 PM _unreal: when I use that
02:27 PM _unreal: Job for networking.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
02:27 PM _unreal: See "systemctl status networking.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
02:28 PM _unreal: not sure what to do to re-establish network after power cycling the controller
02:29 PM _unreal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0EtUzx7bus
02:30 PM _unreal_: thats the only video I have found and how to so far for getting the pendent setup and its in russian LOL
02:34 PM _unreal_: freaking hell
02:34 PM _unreal_: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exeKPDAIzkc
02:34 PM _unreal_: that one I can at least translate the CC to english
02:38 PM t4nk_freenode: kewl, we keep learning each day; 'pendent pendant' ;)
02:39 PM t4nk_freenode: didn't know that
02:40 PM _unreal_: didnt know what?
02:42 PM t4nk_freenode: let me upload a walk thought for you on that, one sec
02:43 PM _unreal_: ?
02:43 PM t4nk_freenode: you got corrected for saying pendent, in place of pendant, _unreal_
02:43 PM t4nk_freenode: so I looked it up
02:43 PM t4nk_freenode: and now I know the difference :)
02:43 PM _unreal_: never even noticed the A/E
02:43 PM t4nk_freenode: I know ;)
02:43 PM _unreal_: thats why iw as like WTF?
02:44 PM _unreal_: I dont have my glasses on right now regardless
02:44 PM _unreal_: cause I'm sitting in front of my bedroom comp not the LCNC one
02:44 PM _unreal_: BIG ass display
02:44 PM _unreal_: hp something something all in one/lcd-pc i5
02:44 PM roycroft: only a pedant would correct someone for saying pendent instead of pendant :)
02:44 PM t4nk_freenode: lol
02:45 PM _unreal_: everyone is a comedian
02:45 PM t4nk_freenode: no
02:45 PM _unreal_: roy I have an odd issue
02:45 PM t4nk_freenode: we are mostly commedians, _unreal_
02:45 PM t4nk_freenode: but you
02:45 PM t4nk_freenode: are a clown :)
02:45 PM _unreal_: so with rs[m] help got probe basic working
02:45 PM _unreal_: its the few tidbits of into that are just not published anywhere that I was missing
02:46 PM _unreal_: xyz all work BUG
02:46 PM _unreal_: but
02:46 PM _unreal_: the OSC x +/- does not work
02:46 PM _unreal_: yet MDI controlls do work for x
02:46 PM _unreal_: so I need to get the pendent working now
02:47 PM _unreal_: if I can get the pendent working I can button up all the wiring and controller into the box finally and move the machine to the shop
02:47 PM t4nk_freenode: the pendent what?!
02:47 PM _unreal_: at work FINALLY
02:47 PM _unreal_: pendent
02:47 PM t4nk_freenode: if you would attach a dropping to a rope, it could pend
02:48 PM t4nk_freenode: but you want a pendant
02:48 PM _unreal_: fuck the pendant I want a ruin
02:49 PM t4nk_freenode: so, for me as an Auslander... do I understand correctly that you mean a lamp you want to string up above the machine?
02:49 PM t4nk_freenode: or is it sth els
02:49 PM t4nk_freenode: e
02:50 PM _unreal_: rune fuck I dont even know what I want
02:50 PM _unreal_: hehe
02:50 PM _unreal_: ment rune
02:50 PM _unreal_: I do have a nice lamp setup on my z now
02:50 PM _unreal_: :)
02:51 PM _unreal_: lamp on a goose neck. LED based
02:51 PM t4nk_freenode: I bought a large-ish led lamp from a dollar store the other day
02:51 PM _unreal_: omg make it end. 2 day shiping has now turned into two week shipping
02:51 PM _unreal_: from amazon
02:52 PM _unreal_: I was at the second hand store some time ago and came across this LED desk lamp with a goose neck. and a very small plug in psu
02:52 PM _unreal_: very VERY bright
02:52 PM _unreal_: everything is metal even the housing
02:52 PM _unreal_: housing for the LED and the lense is glass
02:52 PM _unreal_: so its perfect
02:53 PM t4nk_freenode: nehow, I had a lamp base with broken parts.. I 3d printed some parts to replace them, and added a ball joint... and now I got a 'nice lamp' to help me see beter
02:53 PM _unreal_: for desk? or 3d printer?
02:54 PM t4nk_freenode: I got all these lamps and lights around the room, but I can never see what I'm working on
02:54 PM t4nk_freenode: so I got this lamp to use for extra lightin
02:54 PM t4nk_freenode: g
02:55 PM _unreal_: so room lighting
02:55 PM _unreal_: hehe last year I pulled a SHIT load of LED bulbs 12v bulbs out of a dumpster
02:56 PM t4nk_freenode: a 'work light', so to speak
02:56 PM _unreal_: could have pulled hundreds but didnt want to totally drive in. and someone had tossed food shit in as well but they wehre all brand new
02:56 PM _unreal_: drive=dive
02:57 PM t4nk_freenode: I take it you can be found at those dumpsters on a daily basis
02:57 PM _unreal: now and then
02:57 PM _unreal: but I have have not been at the marina where I work in for ever. been stuck off campus on an other project
02:57 PM _unreal: I HATE off campus projects. they never end
02:58 PM _unreal: been stuck at this one for 2 months now
02:59 PM t4nk_freenode: if only you could be at the exact right dumpster at the exact right time
02:59 PM t4nk_freenode: could be great things to be found
02:59 PM t4nk_freenode: as well as dead bodies
03:10 PM _unreal_: the stuff the luxury yachts toss is amazing
03:11 PM _unreal_: god damn it, why do all of these pendant hows have to been in non english
03:11 PM _unreal_: hate having to solve the content to solve the install
03:12 PM rs[m]: unreal: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man1/xhc-whb04b-6.1.html
03:14 PM _unreal_: I think this is what I need
03:14 PM _unreal_: https://github.com/machinekit/machinekit-hal/tree/master/configs/apps/xhc-whb04b-6
03:15 PM _unreal_: directly
03:26 PM _unreal: ok i'm seeing basic control
03:27 PM _unreal: trying to figure out how to re-connect to the mesa
03:27 PM _unreal: ?
03:27 PM _unreal: not sure how to re-fresh network
03:27 PM _unreal: or restart it
03:28 PM _unreal: ?
03:28 PM rs[m]: what do you mean with "re-connect"
03:29 PM _unreal: if I turn off the motion controller it turns off the power to the mesa as well
03:29 PM rs[m]: is there any error mesaage
03:29 PM _unreal: I need to re-connect
03:29 PM rs[m]: restart probe basic
03:29 PM rs[m]: / linuxcnc
03:29 PM _unreal: command or auction?
03:29 PM _unreal: action
03:30 PM _unreal: systemctl restart networking
03:30 PM _unreal: before I'd used that but its not working dont know why
03:31 PM rs[m]: _unreal: close linuxcnc and start it again
03:31 PM _unreal: ?
03:31 PM _unreal: I should be able to just restart networking with out rebooting or logging out
03:31 PM rs[m]: what is the "motion controller"
03:31 PM _unreal: 7i96
03:31 PM _unreal: before I just re-started networking
03:32 PM rs[m]: why
03:32 PM _unreal: something had changed in the newer linux version
03:32 PM _unreal: to re=connect
03:32 PM rs[m]: 22:28:08 _unreal | if I turn off the motion controller it turns off the power to the mesa as well
03:32 PM rs[m]: pls explain
03:33 PM rs[m]: if i substitute "7i96" for "motion controller" as per your answer, it doesn't make sense at all
03:33 PM _unreal: I had to plug something into the motion controller so I hve to turn it off
03:33 PM _unreal: ?
03:33 PM rs[m]: and what does that have to do with the networking on the PC
03:33 PM _unreal: motion controller and 7i96 same thing.
03:33 PM _unreal: it is a networked card
03:34 PM rs[m]: yes and
03:34 PM _unreal: I need to re-connect to it
03:34 PM rs[m]: so restart linuxcnc
03:34 PM rs[m]: then it will reconnect
03:34 PM _unreal: I dont WANT to reboot linux
03:34 PM rs[m]: nobody said anything about rebooting linux
03:37 PM * rs[m] back to watching tally ho getting an engine
03:38 PM Tom_L: wow... just wow.
03:38 PM Tom_L: hey skunkworks, glad you got it goin
03:45 PM _unreal: Tom_L, trying to figure out how to get networking re-established with the 7i96
03:45 PM _unreal: with out logging out
03:46 PM _unreal: systemctl restart networking is giving me errors
03:48 PM _unreal: well that didnt help
03:49 PM rs[m]: lol
03:49 PM rs[m]: unreal: suppose your mobile phone battery dies
03:50 PM rs[m]: _unreal: what you are trying is akin to restarting the cell you mobile was registered to
03:50 PM rs[m]: analogous
03:50 PM rs[m]: it won't help
03:51 PM _unreal: sigh... NOWW the sun comes out as its setting
03:51 PM _unreal: been a shitty over cast day to day off and on rain
03:51 PM Tom_L: the mesa card has to be powered
03:52 PM _unreal: well I'm connected
03:52 PM _unreal: back to trying to get the wireless control pendent working
03:52 PM Tom_L: pendant
03:52 PM Tom_L: :)
03:52 PM _unreal: ok so I seem to be getting/receiving data
03:53 PM _unreal: xhc-whb04b-6 -p
03:53 PM _unreal: in CLI
03:53 PM _unreal: and I get data in CLI as I press buttons
03:53 PM _unreal: nothing when I turn the wheel yet but at least the buttons are responding
03:54 PM _unreal: oh wow
03:54 PM _unreal: so FN key on this pendAnt seems to show that all of the buttons function with the FN key for dual use
03:55 PM _unreal: well that just got more complicated
03:55 PM _unreal: hehe
03:56 PM _unreal: does anyone have one of these pendents? like I have or am I the only one
03:58 PM Tom_L: some have them
03:58 PM Tom_L: dunno who
03:59 PM _unreal: trying to figure out how to get it setup
03:59 PM _unreal: so I have the hal files and stuff located
03:59 PM _unreal: not sure how to get i setup control wise
04:02 PM rs[m]: _unreal: what is missing from the man page
04:03 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man1/xhc-whb04b-6.1.html
04:03 PM _unreal: man page?
04:04 PM Tom_L: the manual
04:04 PM Tom_L: the thing nobody reads
04:04 PM JavaBean: oh, that packing material with funny pictures and weird scribbles
04:05 PM JT-Shop: LOL
04:05 PM JT-Shop: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_page
04:05 PM rs[m]: _unreal: i posted similar link earlier
04:06 PM _unreal: I've been reading them
04:06 PM Tom_L: backing up my mill drive to another ssd... damn i hope i got source and destination right :)
04:06 PM _unreal: but i'm not sure what to do for setup? if there is anything I'm missing
04:06 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:06 PM _unreal: do I need to run the xhc-whb04b-6 before starting up lcnc?
04:07 PM _unreal: does it invoke it by its self?
04:07 PM _unreal: is there something to setup first or an INI call?
04:07 PM _unreal: I have not seen anything talking about the steps to get it going
04:08 PM Tom_L: did you read that link i posted?
04:08 PM _unreal: for example it says Use the −H option to specify HAL mode and other options as required: loadusr −W xhc−whb04b−6 −HsfB
04:08 PM _unreal: I do not have a loadusr program
04:08 PM _unreal: command not found
04:09 PM _unreal: if that is software that I need thats what I'm getting at I have yet to find a WALK though that gives all of the basics to get it going
04:09 PM Tom_L: you may not
04:09 PM rs[m]: wtf
04:09 PM rs[m]: _unreal: hal configuration example goes into your hal config
04:09 PM Tom_L: columbus didn't have directons either but he made it
04:10 PM _unreal: there is no package linked to loadusr
04:11 PM rs[m]: _unreal: if you would have taken the time to familiarize with the basics of linuxcnc you would know of the hal system
04:11 PM _unreal: so again wtf
04:11 PM _unreal: rs[m], this is the first time I'm using lcnc
04:11 PM Tom_L: yeah wtf
04:11 PM _unreal: and getting something setup
04:11 PM rs[m]: _unreal: rtf user and integrator manual
04:13 PM rs[m]: _unreal: the man page http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man1/xhc-whb04b-6.1.html has example config file, IIRC it should work out of the box
04:15 PM _unreal: thats the HAL config I have
04:15 PM _unreal: loadusr looks to be my issue
04:15 PM _unreal: no command or file name
04:16 PM rs[m]: no, your issue has to be something else
04:18 PM rs[m]: _unreal: try "man halcmd" in your shell and look what loadusr is supposed to do
04:20 PM _unreal: back in a few having late SUPER late lunch with my daughter
04:20 PM Eric__: dual booting with windows is fraught with danger. Shutting down the windows usually leaves it in an unstable state somehow if you boot the linux in between
04:21 PM Eric__: but the good news is I can run the servo drive setup program now, only cost me $30
04:21 PM gigasu_shida: which is a good laser cutter for acrylic?
04:22 PM _unreal: any laser cutter with the right power and modulation control
04:22 PM rs[m]: Eric__: windows usually goes into "hibernate" and doesn't shut down the filesystems, so if you access it from linux, you screw things up. but you can configure windows to do real shutdown.
04:22 PM _unreal: though you want good air exchange setup
04:22 PM _unreal: the fumes are nasty
04:23 PM rs[m]: hehe. Q: "what is the right tool for X?" A: "any tool that is the right for X. just look for proper ventilation."
04:23 PM Eric__: even real shutdown can leave it in an unstable state somehow. Have to turn off quick boot
04:24 PM gigasu_shida: ok thanks _unreal
04:24 PM Eric__: I knew I had to do that but didn't think it was quite so bad.
04:26 PM Eric__: BITD, they would cache the drive and never flush it, which cost me a couple of experiments before I learned I had to flush the cache myself
04:26 PM Eric__: never figured out why they would not flush when the system was idle
04:27 PM Eric__: I'm going to have to re-write the servo setup program and be a hero for all 132 people in the world that need it
04:29 PM _unreal: ok face has been stuffed
04:29 PM _unreal: the FUMES are a huge issue
04:30 PM _unreal: especially depending on what your are burning
04:30 PM _unreal: the last think you want to do is expose your self to elements that can cause lung cancer over time
04:30 PM _unreal: so ya MAKE sure you have a good extration system setup.
04:30 PM _unreal: extraction
04:31 PM rs[m]: _unreal: that applies for all materials in a laser cutter
04:32 PM _unreal: noooooo argument
04:32 PM _unreal: some are just worse then others
04:32 PM _unreal: FAR worse
04:32 PM Eric__: the laser cutter at the pittsburgh makerspace must have great fume extraction
04:32 PM _unreal: I only one more or less a TOY for a desktop laser etcher
04:33 PM _unreal: the one I have IS more or less a
04:33 PM _unreal: one of those NEJE one's with an arduino upgrade and motor controller upgrade
04:33 PM _unreal: works great but the work area is stupid small
04:34 PM _unreal: I did use it the other day for cutting out paper spacer shims for a bearing :)
04:34 PM _unreal: worked great
04:35 PM Tom_L: wheezy update doesn't like me
04:36 PM Tom_L: got things set to wheezy backports & added the new lcnc deb for 2.8
04:49 PM rs[m]: new clickspring video
04:49 PM rs[m]: part 10 of antikythera series
04:50 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L, what did you have to do to get wheezy backports working?
04:50 PM eric_basement: does freenode really care if you are logged in more than once?
04:50 PM andypugh: rs[m]: I saw the notification, but I think I have seen it.
04:51 PM JT-Shop: so long as you have different nicks it's ok
04:53 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, i had backports deb for quite a while.. i'm not 100% sure it is working
04:53 PM XXCoder: just dont have a ocean of nicks heh
04:54 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, i did a backup so i can mess with it
04:54 PM _unreal: ok I believe I need loadusr −W xhc−whb04b−6 −HsfB added to HALUI in the INI
04:54 PM _unreal: or something like that
04:54 PM eric_basement: rh+-+
04:55 PM _unreal: there are no references curently in my INI to the xhc contoller.hal
04:55 PM eric_basement: keyboard mounting needs to be a little more secure
04:56 PM Tom_shop: http://http.debian.net/debian wheezy-backports main
04:59 PM _unreal: should I add HALUI xhc-whb04b-6-post-gui.hal as well or will the other hal file call for it? or does anyone know?
04:59 PM Tom_itx: http://archive.debian.org/debian/dists/wheezy-backports/
04:59 PM Tom_itx: JT-Cave, maybe i need to redirect it?
04:59 PM rs[m]: _unreal: look in the file
05:00 PM _unreal: just tried the first one and got an error
05:02 PM _unreal: https://pastebin.com/nD09RRdX
05:03 PM _unreal: I added HALFILE = xhc-whb04b-6.hal
05:03 PM _unreal: to the HAL line
05:09 PM _unreal: I'm clearly getting input
05:09 PM _unreal: just not in lcnc yet
05:09 PM _unreal: sgh
05:09 PM _unreal: sgh
05:09 PM _unreal: sigh
05:11 PM _unreal: 13267
05:11 PM _unreal: xhc-whb04b-6.hal:29: Ini variable '[XHC_WHB04B_6_CONFIG]COMPONENT_ARGUMENTS' not found.
05:21 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, have you tried upgrading wheezy to 2.8?
05:25 PM JT-Cave: down here Tom
05:25 PM JT-Cave: I'm not sure if I have or not, is wheezy debian 8 or 9?
05:28 PM Tom_L: it's not 9, that's stretch
05:28 PM Tom_L: must be 8
05:29 PM Tom_L: i thought i'd fiddle with it a bit this evening but i may end up building from source unless a bunch of packages are missing
05:29 PM JT-Cave: ah ok, I can never keep the names straight... numbers, faces, locations no problem
05:29 PM Tom_L: heh all toy story char
05:29 PM JT-Cave: I'm still running Ubuntu 10.04 on the CHNC
05:29 PM JT-Cave: never watched the toy story lol
05:30 PM Tom_L: the mill works but mostly i wanted to verify the updtate process
05:30 PM Tom_L: so far not so good here
05:30 PM JT-Cave: issues with dependencies?
05:31 PM flyback-: BMCC
05:31 PM Tom_L: yes
05:32 PM flyback-: yes you bit rue_mohr?
05:34 PM JT-Cave: 200 pages to go...
05:34 PM _unreal: well thats odd?
05:35 PM _unreal: if your doing updates can/will that stop your control of a mesa?
05:36 PM Tom_L: missing yapps to build source too
05:36 PM Tom_L: can't find it
05:36 PM _unreal: no I fooled mys elf
05:37 PM JT-Cave: yea yapps and a few others have changed IIRC
05:37 PM _unreal: oh and x +/- is now working on the OSD ontrols OODD
05:38 PM _unreal: wow I am tempted to switch back to half sepping
05:38 PM _unreal: just looking at max speed
05:41 PM Tom_L: GPL license issues too
05:42 PM Tom_L: GPL-2
05:42 PM _unreal: finally updates are done
05:42 PM JT-Cave: wow
05:42 PM _unreal: tom what version are ou running?
05:42 PM * JT-Cave goes to start the gumbo
05:44 PM _unreal: well I guess I have a choice to make. I only have one switch on my control box
05:44 PM _unreal: for power
05:44 PM _unreal: maybe I should add a second
05:45 PM _unreal: one for MAINS EVERYTHING power. and one for motor driver PSUs
05:45 PM _unreal: so I dont have to deal with powering downthe mesa
05:47 PM Tom_L: _unreal, 2.7.15 on the mill
05:47 PM Tom_L: checking the upgrade path
05:48 PM _unreal: I forget what version I have
05:48 PM _unreal: what is the command for checking?
05:48 PM _unreal: uname or other?
05:48 PM Tom_L: it tells you when you start it
05:49 PM _unreal: shit I just turned off my conroller
05:49 PM _unreal: going to add a second switch
05:49 PM _unreal: one for MAINS everything power and one for motor psu's
05:50 PM Tom_L: my enables go thru estop
05:50 PM Tom_L: the main power switch also trips a contactor for my vfd
05:59 PM _unreal: I think I'm going to take it back to half stepping
06:00 PM _unreal: hate to have the vibrations bug GOD damn what a speed difference
06:00 PM _unreal: 2k mm/min vs 340mm max
06:00 PM _unreal: and with a 30" travel man
06:00 PM _unreal: travel
06:01 PM _unreal: :S scratch on this display is right on the typing line of hexchat
06:01 PM _unreal: sigh
06:03 PM JT-Cave: the English language is quite interesting and so often misunderstood due to leaving out crucial details that only the speaker knows...
06:07 PM andypugh: JT-Cave: If you are interestd in that sort of thing, I watched this earilier: https://youtu.be/PdO3IP0Pro8 It’s a history of writing systems. It’s quite a long watch, but it kept me interested. I think that the final conclusuon is that we should all write our own language in Korean.
06:08 PM JT-Cave: I'll have to watch that in the morning during free time... makes me want some Korean BBQ
06:08 PM andypugh: (English spelling is terrible, if we’re honest)
06:14 PM JT-Cave: the cc?
06:17 PM andypugh: I mean that it is inconsistent and confusing. The classic is plough, cough, enough, though.
07:02 PM Tom_L: JT-Cave, wheezy was 7 not 8
07:08 PM _unreal_: dont know how but I'm missing a few special screws?
07:08 PM _unreal_: that hold the tray that holds the mesa?
07:09 PM _unreal_: they WHERE all together now 5 of the 8 are just gone...
07:09 PM Tom_L: i didn't take them
07:09 PM _unreal_: at this point I think a family member did soething
07:09 PM _unreal_: middle of the table in a small zip lock
07:09 PM _unreal_: ohow do they go missing
07:19 PM _unreal: that was fucking weird
07:20 PM _unreal: about 20 cars just went driving VERY slow though the neighborhood with odd lights on the roof's and they were all playing Arab music very loud
07:20 PM _unreal: like some kind of parade in the pitch black
07:21 PM _unreal: at freaking 8pm at night WTF
08:16 PM bjorkintosh: <_unreal> that was fucking weird. Would you say it was ... Unreal???
08:23 PM flyback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5zSadDZMhA
08:23 PM flyback: wow
08:24 PM Tom_L: was there not a jessie iso released?
08:24 PM flyback: watch that
08:24 PM flyback: Tom_L, etc
08:24 PM Tom_L: NO!
08:25 PM flyback: YES
08:25 PM flyback: OR BMCC
08:26 PM Tom_L: what about it?
08:27 PM flyback: that's really cool
08:27 PM Tom_L: he should have interpolated the circle on a cnc so BMCC!
08:28 PM * flyback falls over
08:28 PM Tom_L: it's an expensive hole saw
08:28 PM Tom_L: i've never seen them in use in a shop
08:28 PM flyback: might be worth it at the rate those cut
08:28 PM flyback: wow
08:28 PM Tom_L: price them and you'll see why shops use an endmill and interpolate the circle
08:29 PM Tom_L: he has funding out the wazoo
08:31 PM Tom_L: hah i bet there was never a jessie iso released
08:33 PM Tom_L: huh jessie wasn't released with RTAI either
08:38 PM Tom_L: flyback,
08:38 PM Tom_L: this is why: https://carbideprocessors.com/cobalt-annular-cutter-3-diameter-3-cut-depth-unibor-25396/
08:38 PM Tom_L: Our Low Price:
08:38 PM flyback: yeah they are pricey but not for some use
08:39 PM flyback: I agree with you thoughg
09:21 PM bjorkintosh: why didn't he use a spade drill?
09:45 PM _unreal: ok back to putting the controller box together
09:45 PM _unreal: just watched a movie with my daughter
09:49 PM XXCoder: hmm
09:49 PM XXCoder: you finished that tiny cnc?
09:50 PM pfred1: I used an old PC case as a controller box
09:50 PM pfred1: one of them desktop systems you know the flat lay down kind?
09:50 PM bjorkintosh: which tiny cnc, and how much does it cost?
09:50 PM pfred1: bjorkintosh how much you got?
09:51 PM bjorkintosh: of course. it's like a boat isn't it?
09:51 PM XXCoder: pf you mean desktop case ;) towers is what wwe call that is common now
09:51 PM pfred1: you mean a hole in the water you pour money in trying to fill?
09:51 PM bjorkintosh: exactly.
09:51 PM pfred1: the case i used is more like if a tower fell over
09:52 PM bjorkintosh: I don't own a boat. I have friends instead!
09:52 PM pfred1: like an office PC case?
09:52 PM bjorkintosh: I'm merciful enough to let *them* do the pouring of the money into the hole in the water.
09:52 PM pfred1: case had an MX233 Pentium CPU in it I was like woo
09:53 PM pfred1: I really wanted one of those back in the day
09:53 PM pfred1: I settled for a 200 though the 233s were just too expensive
09:54 PM pfred1: I threw the whole motehrboard with the CPU in it into a milk crate
09:54 PM pfred1: of other obsolete motherboards
09:55 PM pfred1: the metal box was worth more to me
09:56 PM XXCoder: pf the desktop model never really had a type name. tower is always called tower, till nowdays its basically only kind so its just case now lol
09:59 PM _unreal_: tiny cnc?
09:59 PM _unreal_: oh the one for my daughter?
09:59 PM _unreal_: its 99% done
10:00 PM _unreal_: only part that is not finished, I'm missing a stupid 5v relay. have yet to order one.
10:00 PM _unreal_: I had a bunch but I'm missing all of them. when installed they will control the led's for the status of good to go or ESTOP
10:01 PM _unreal_: so basicly a RED/GREE lights
10:01 PM _unreal_: the big cnc I'm woprking on putting the box back together
10:01 PM _unreal_: and I'm switching up the control switches
10:02 PM _unreal_: for power.
10:02 PM _unreal_: making it so I have an ALL power cut off and a motors psu switch
10:04 PM mrec: _unreal_: how old is your daughter? just curious what age you're giving a cnc to her
10:06 PM _unreal_: 11
10:07 PM mrec: mine is 4 so far I let her push some buttons to make things move
10:07 PM _unreal_: in a min or so the photos will be loaded
10:08 PM mrec: did your daughter cut something already? does she show interest?
10:08 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ReMMOc5zQjrwCSnNdAv9avkJf35l6s3a/view?usp=sharing
10:09 PM _unreal_: its setup to use a spindle in fact its already got a spindle that mounts right to it but I only have a custom PEN rig setup
10:09 PM mrec: I could only have dreamed off to know the terminology of key parts at that age...
10:09 PM _unreal_: its setup with an arduino driver
10:10 PM _unreal_: I had her HELP me build it
10:10 PM _unreal_: after I cut all of the parts that is.
10:10 PM bjorkintosh: how old is your helper?
10:10 PM mrec: his 11 mine 4 ;-)
10:11 PM pfred1: relays for LEDs?
10:11 PM pfred1: how big are these LEDs?
10:11 PM mrec: last week in Taipeh, see that train has no driver ... how does that work? .. the girl there's a motor inside haha
10:11 PM pfred1: 100W?
10:12 PM pfred1: even at that i think I'd still use a mosfet
10:13 PM _unreal: lights not LED's
10:14 PM pfred1: ah
10:14 PM _unreal: 12V lights
10:14 PM pfred1: like light bulbs?
10:14 PM _unreal: yes
10:14 PM _unreal: they are in that photo
10:14 PM _unreal: they are some of the last radio shack lights i had on hand
10:14 PM _unreal: I could use LED's but I had them on hand
10:15 PM mrec: it says I have no access to those photos :-)
10:15 PM pfred1: You need access
10:15 PM pfred1: yeah we're inaccessible apparently
10:15 PM _unreal: should have axcess
10:15 PM _unreal: ?
10:15 PM _unreal: let me check
10:15 PM mrec: nope
10:15 PM pfred1: I miss G+
10:16 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ReMMOc5zQjrwCSnNdAv9avkJf35l6s3a/view?usp=sharing
10:16 PM _unreal_: TRY NOW
10:16 PM pfred1: what lusers that they shut that down
10:16 PM pfred1: in like Flynn
10:16 PM _unreal_: I missed changing restrictions
10:16 PM pfred1: that looks good
10:16 PM _unreal_: g+?
10:17 PM _unreal_: as you can see my daughter has already decorated her little cnc
10:17 PM pfred1: cept maybe for the perfboard flapping in the breeze
10:17 PM _unreal_: thats the one that is missing the relay
10:18 PM XXCoder: lol thats cool
10:18 PM _unreal_: the idea behind the RELAY is to drive the two bulbs
10:18 PM _unreal_: when it flips the light color flips as well
10:19 PM _unreal_: just have to tie into the 5v signal on the estop
10:19 PM pfred1: when I plot is seems ball point pens work the best for me
10:20 PM _unreal_: that pen is a special gel pen
10:20 PM _unreal_: I forget the name
10:20 PM _unreal_: my daughter is asleep though so I'm not going to risk going into there to see the pen
10:20 PM _unreal_: ultra fine tip as well
10:20 PM pfred1: I tried Pilot Precise V5 pens and they didn't work as good
10:20 PM _unreal_: look at the bottom of this page
10:20 PM _unreal_: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPp1f0dUHlqqTwZCQ32JntR_n59omq5yjLi0sI1AFxK8ghJ-Fgv4MRm1h6_kwMyBw?key=b196bk50Mk9GMFd4ZFBSY0RkclVCVW9QYm0tbWFB
10:20 PM pfred1: cheap ballpoints
10:20 PM _unreal_: that has more photos of the production of that pen holder
10:21 PM _unreal_: pen holder/touch probe setup
10:21 PM _unreal_: you can see the spindle adapter setup as well
10:21 PM _unreal_: works perfect. its setup to use my old spindle motor
10:21 PM pfred1: ah you used the angle and bearing rail system
10:22 PM _unreal_: ANGLE and bearing rail?
10:22 PM pfred1: what was that website that popularized that linear guide setup?
10:22 PM _unreal_: not sure what one your talking about
10:22 PM pfred1: your linear guides
10:22 PM _unreal_: which photo which bearing
10:22 PM _unreal_: in which machine
10:22 PM XXCoder: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dTJ5py1D4AH2F1KvTA3njKPSbn1i10vkW_I8Twg5DJpUirHeOeu3Q4LuhpgsFAJFNtsxhlO-UtEmXkcnoU2c2Pm7LZvIzvMhp0GEruYBTgndrh2ANaRm4Ndpox2O7sTKcIACsfV-b7ZvG904IA7KZkGw=w1920-h909-no?authuser=0 dick
10:22 PM _unreal_: which part
10:22 PM pfred1: they're angle and ball bearings
10:23 PM _unreal_: AHHHHHH ok My machine
10:23 PM _unreal_: machine
10:23 PM pfred1: yeah someone is holding a spatula up in the picture
10:23 PM pfred1: they must have been to spatula city
10:24 PM pfred1: a spatula with an anchor engraved into the handle
10:24 PM mrec: XXCoder: nice parts!
10:24 PM _unreal_: ya I did that
10:24 PM XXCoder: not my link
10:24 PM _unreal_: my link
10:24 PM mrec: _unreal: oh I mean your one
10:24 PM _unreal_: and I engraved that wooden spatula
10:24 PM mrec: ;-)
10:24 PM _unreal_: I deigned that in inkscape
10:24 PM pfred1: ah here's a machine with bearing blocks
10:25 PM pfred1: I bet that's your new machine
10:25 PM mrec: _unreal: are you using freecad too?
10:25 PM _unreal_: HAAAAA I dont use freecad
10:25 PM _unreal_: I use fusion360 and designspark mostly designspark
10:25 PM _unreal_: designspark is totally free and just as powerful as fusion360
10:26 PM _unreal_: just does not have a CAM generator
10:26 PM _unreal_: it does have a slicer though for 3d printing
10:26 PM pfred1: so is that white material you're using starboard?
10:27 PM pfred1: you seem like a boater
10:27 PM pfred1: starboard is big in boating
10:27 PM _unreal_: yes star board
10:28 PM _unreal_: I'm a marine engineer
10:28 PM pfred1: I figured it was either that or sign HDPE
10:28 PM pfred1: starboard is HDPE with UV inhibitors isn't it?
10:29 PM _unreal_: one of the boats I'm working on now at work I'm drying out the entire running gear area. with a vacuum pump setup. and I'll be injecting resin epoxy resin when I've dried the hull core ennough
10:29 PM _unreal_: yes
10:29 PM XXCoder: really need to setup shop to be more busy. so bored lol
10:29 PM pfred1: boredom is a state of mind
10:29 PM _unreal_: ?
10:30 PM pfred1: are you not entertained?
10:30 PM _unreal_: I'm drowning in work
10:30 PM pfred1: that's bad in the boating business
10:30 PM XXCoder: https://youtu.be/OLOhyuqFg7g?t=52
10:30 PM XXCoder: im talking about myself, not you.
10:31 PM _unreal_: in fact my boss keeps begging me to finish these company plaques
10:31 PM _unreal_: to mount in boats that we have worked on
10:31 PM _unreal_: its all about me
10:31 PM pfred1: that's a bit tacky isn't it?
10:31 PM XXCoder: lol as usual for you
10:38 PM _unreal_: ?
10:46 PM _unreal: got one hold to drill and I can mount the main power switch
10:49 PM _unreal: one hole
10:51 PM mrec: https://snipboard.io/9LrSX4.jpg still some work to do for the conversion
10:52 PM pfred1: that an X2?
10:52 PM mrec: no vm18l from weiss
10:52 PM XXCoder: making progress i see
10:52 PM XXCoder: i spy a 3d printer
10:52 PM XXCoder: hypercube?
10:52 PM mrec: yes also modified to be absolutely silent :-)
10:52 PM mrec: ender 5 plus
10:53 PM XXCoder: cool.
10:53 PM mrec: I resoldered the stepper drivers with trinamic chips and fixed all the fans
10:53 PM mrec: now the bad thing is I don't know when the print is finished because I hear nothing anymore :-)
10:54 PM XXCoder: make it play music whe its done
10:54 PM mrec: I even printed the motor couplings before it was ok for a week but then the couplings died
10:54 PM mrec: the current ones are ok but I'll try some disc couplings next
10:55 PM mrec: that's just the path of learning how some mechanical parts play together
10:55 PM XXCoder: https://youtu.be/M2dhD9zR6hk dunno what it sounds like lol
11:02 PM _unreal: any one seen my hot air gun?
11:15 PM bjorkintosh: mrec how did you fix the fans?
