12:18 AM unterhaus: I was just looking through my dial indicators. have a couple of stuck starretts

03:11 AM veegee: This is for very simple parts like battery intercell connectors. Almost as simple as ingots

03:20 AM veegee: I could weld together a steel container in which to pour molten cast iron
03:21 AM veegee: It just needs to work once and give me a block of cast iron

03:21 AM veegee: A36 structural steel melts at 1538ºC
03:22 AM veegee: it'll get damn hot but it'll work just fine

03:22 AM veegee: it'll weaken and get red hot, but it'll hold it
