12:29 AM CaptHindsight: https://youtu.be/zUjkArLOyfk?t=121 frame buffer synced to motion for light based tooling with additive manufacturing
12:35 AM XXCoder: does not actually show results. bah
01:09 AM Deejay: moin
01:15 AM roycroft: apparently, the year of the linux laptop requires going back to the 1980s
01:16 AM roycroft: i just spent a bunch of time editing a .xresources file so that my trackpad behaves like a 3 button mouse
01:17 AM CaptHindsight: how old is this laptop?
01:17 AM roycroft: not terribly old
01:17 AM roycroft: 2017
01:17 AM CaptHindsight: 34 F outside, 63 F inside
01:17 AM roycroft: when it's running windows the trackpad behaves exactly as expected, and it is trivial to alter the behavior
01:18 AM roycroft: with debian it behaves like a single button mouse by default
01:18 AM roycroft: and there's no simple app to alter that
01:18 AM CaptHindsight: well Debian uses old everything
01:18 AM roycroft: i haven't had to mess with xresources in 30 some years
01:18 AM CaptHindsight: likely libs from <2017
01:19 AM roycroft: i'm using it because i use it for my server farm
01:19 AM CaptHindsight: wehn we have hardware that cats funny with the LCNC ISO's we just use Sid
01:19 AM CaptHindsight: cats/acts
01:19 AM roycroft: for which it's probably better suited
01:20 AM roycroft: but other debian-based distros like mint or ubuntu are just different enough to frustrate me
01:20 AM roycroft: and i've never liked rhel-based distros
01:20 AM CaptHindsight: I tried fedora a for a couple years
01:21 AM roycroft: i have two machines that run centos
01:21 AM CaptHindsight: I put up with debian since it's used here, otherwise it's Gentoo
01:21 AM roycroft: each runs a single turn-key app that only runs on rhel
01:22 AM roycroft: they refused to run on centos until i lied about who i am in /etc/redhat-release
01:22 AM roycroft: now they are happy
01:23 AM roycroft: i don't know that debian is the best server distro
01:23 AM roycroft: but it gets the job done for me, and i'm used to it
01:23 AM roycroft: i'm actually an old school bsd person
01:23 AM roycroft: and i ran bsd/os on the servers for years, then openbsd
01:24 AM roycroft: but openbsd stopped caring about actually being able to use the os for anything productive in its obsessiveness to make the os secure
01:24 AM roycroft: they've made it so secure it's useless
01:24 AM roycroft: so finally i decided to move on to linux
01:25 AM roycroft: and i'm pretty happy with debian for the servers
01:25 AM roycroft: but fairly frustrated trying to run it on this laptop
01:25 AM roycroft: but after a week of using it, i can finally cut and paste in an xterm
01:29 AM roycroft: i do not like the margaret thatcher character in the crown
01:29 AM roycroft: she's seriously overdoing it
01:30 AM roycroft: and the iron lady herself overdid being herself
01:30 AM roycroft: but this actress takes it even farther than that
01:30 AM gloops: that bitch ruined this country
01:31 AM roycroft: she was pretty awful
01:31 AM XXCoder: wow sudden topic change
01:31 AM roycroft: sorry, i finally just started watching season 4
01:31 AM CaptHindsight: he yeah binged watched it last week
01:31 AM XXCoder: lol ok
01:32 AM roycroft: i've been watching the queen's gambit
01:32 AM roycroft: just finished that last night
01:32 AM CaptHindsight: watched that last weekend
01:32 AM roycroft: i'm pretty good at not binge watching
01:32 AM roycroft: one episode max per day of whatever
01:32 AM gloops: (thatcher, not the Queen, the Queen is great)
01:32 AM roycroft: yes, we know whom you're talking about, gloops
01:32 AM CaptHindsight: thatcher really was like that
01:33 AM CaptHindsight: some I binge, some maybe one a night
01:33 AM gloops: it was strange because Thatcher did instil some sense of national pride on occasion
01:34 AM CaptHindsight: the worst is when i fall asleep and have to rewatch it 4-5 times to see one episode
01:34 AM gloops: at the same time she was despised for her domestic policies
01:34 AM roycroft: as i said, thatcher was a caricature of herself
01:34 AM CaptHindsight: she was on US news quite often back then
01:34 AM roycroft: but the actress who is portraying her is doing a caricature of that caricature
01:35 AM CaptHindsight: nah, stiff upper lip is all :)
01:35 AM gloops: this is classic thatcher, her last appearance in the commons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv5t6rC6yvg
01:37 AM roycroft: a thousand years from now the scots will still hate thatcher
01:38 AM CaptHindsight: she was selling the same load of crap back then
01:38 AM CaptHindsight: but look how civil they were
01:39 AM CaptHindsight: congress here would break out into a food fight here
01:39 AM roycroft: we had reagan, then later trump
01:39 AM roycroft: the uk had thatcher, then later johnson
01:40 AM roycroft: things went from worse to unthinkable in both countries
01:40 AM CaptHindsight: bad and worse and back to just bad
01:40 AM roycroft: and here's a disturbing thought
01:41 AM roycroft: when boris johnson is done being prime minister, he can run for president of the usa
01:41 AM XXCoder: was boris born in usa?
01:41 AM roycroft: uyes
01:41 AM XXCoder: ugh
01:41 AM roycroft: he was born in new york city, and has dual citizenship
01:41 AM XXCoder: hes smarter trump
01:42 AM CaptHindsight: he might across too stuffy with the accent
01:42 AM roycroft: but he has the right hair
01:42 AM roycroft: just slobber some orange paint on his face and bob's your uncle
01:42 AM CaptHindsight: yah gits to be somebuddy yah can has a beer with
01:43 AM roycroft: he can overcome the accent by just tweeting all the time
01:43 AM gloops: Johnson isnt of the same school of conservatism
01:43 AM CaptHindsight: maybe
01:43 AM gloops: hes ended austerity pretty quick, theyve put a lot of money in
01:44 AM CaptHindsight: drump just hijacked the Republican party, not sure what they will reinvent themselves to be by next year
01:44 AM roycroft: thatcher missed her calling
01:44 AM roycroft: she'd have been well-suited running a late 19th century orphanage
01:44 AM roycroft: to running
01:45 AM roycroft: anyway
01:45 AM roycroft: she's long dead
01:45 AM gloops: Thatcher achieved in 5 years what Hitler and the full might of the german luftwaffe failed to
01:45 AM CaptHindsight: similar here
01:45 AM gloops: she completely flattened UK industry
01:46 AM XXCoder: trump is just symtom, republican was already brojen by forcing split of classical, religious right, and tea party back together for unity
01:46 AM roycroft: yes, he's a symptom, a puppet, and an opportunist
01:46 AM roycroft: but he'll be gone soon
01:46 AM roycroft: i hope
01:46 AM XXCoder: i predicted split over 10 years ago. was shocked when it didnt happen
01:47 AM CaptHindsight: the racism here is pretty sad
01:48 AM CaptHindsight: out here in the cornfields i see it with the young as well
01:48 AM roycroft: and it has gotten worse
01:48 AM roycroft: or, at least, more open
01:48 AM CaptHindsight: yeah
01:49 AM CaptHindsight: but in the cities i even get odd looks for bringing it up
01:49 AM CaptHindsight: and I have to tell them that just an hours drive outside to the corn, it's like 1950
01:50 AM roycroft: when i was growing up i lived 3 blocks from the corn
01:50 AM roycroft: but nobody else in my town knew the corn was so close
01:50 AM CaptHindsight: past that fence nobody goes near
01:51 AM roycroft: my town was the last stop on the illinois central commuter line
01:51 AM XXCoder: i used to bicycle to corn fields
01:51 AM XXCoder: wasnt one or 2 blocks though, 25 miles one way lol
01:51 AM CaptHindsight: I pass corn and farms on the way out here
01:51 AM roycroft: there are farms a mile from where i live now
01:52 AM roycroft: i like living in the outskirts of town, i guess
01:52 AM CaptHindsight: I took a road trip about 2 months ago to Minneapolis
01:53 AM CaptHindsight: stopped in Madison, Lacross Wi, Rochester Mn along the way
01:54 AM CaptHindsight: the election signs were all out along the roads
01:55 AM CaptHindsight: they would flip majority right<-->left based on in town or not
01:56 AM CaptHindsight: gloops: is it similar in the UK?
01:57 AM gloops: the left does tend to be urban yes
01:58 AM gloops: there is also a north/south divide here, the north historically is the industrial half of the UK
01:58 AM gloops: the big shocker at the last election was that the north of england abandoned the Labour party for Boris
01:58 AM gloops: never happened before, not once
01:59 AM CaptHindsight: like here in 2016
01:59 AM gloops: probably similar to your rust belt eareas
02:00 AM gloops: we had that decline 40 years ago
02:00 AM gloops: areas
02:00 AM gloops: well, we didnt have a decline, we were culled by our own govmt
02:01 AM roycroft: corbyn was the uk's clinton
02:01 AM CaptHindsight: we outsource lots of manufacturing to China starting on the 80's
02:01 AM gloops: lol, i think corbyn is slightly to the left of clinton
02:01 AM gloops: and lenin...
02:01 AM roycroft: i'm talking about how he was demonized and mischaracterized
02:02 AM roycroft: like clinton was
02:02 AM gloops: oh right, well corbyn does have a history
02:02 AM roycroft: and i'm talking about hillary clinton
02:02 AM roycroft: both lost when they should have won
02:02 AM roycroft: and both did so because they lost the working class, which was supposed to be their base
02:02 AM gloops: id like to have seen Bernie have a go over there
02:03 AM XXCoder: bernie as PM
02:03 AM CaptHindsight: gloops: most people just don't understand bernie here, they just don't see how we can pay for any of what he would bring
02:04 AM CaptHindsight: yet ~2 trillion went to corporations and they didn't even notice
02:05 AM gloops: Corbyn didnt win because he has a history of associating with extreme left wing groups and terrorists, he was totally indecisive on the EU question when it was paramount, he wouldnt stand for the Queen and things like that
02:05 AM gloops: oh and the Labour party is obsessed with identity politics
02:05 AM CaptHindsight: theyjust don't see how we can have national healthcare, education and social programs that you have over in Europe
02:05 AM XXCoder: yeah like bernie said. 1.7 billion to comanies. same money could forgive all college loans at once
02:06 AM CaptHindsight: we had the money all along to pay for all of this
02:06 AM gloops: we gave the bans £1 trillion and nobody seems to know where that money went, they all had a good bonus that year
02:06 AM gloops: that money would have kept all our nationalised industries going for decades
02:07 AM CaptHindsight: well the old folks behind most of our problems will be gone in the next 10-20 years
02:07 AM roycroft: the princess diana character does not look like the real princess at all
02:08 AM CaptHindsight: unfortunately followed by younger ones that still don't care
02:08 AM roycroft: she was only just intruduced at the end of the episode, so i don't know yet if she's believable in her portrayal
02:09 AM gloops: British Steel was closed because it was losing like 20 million a year (later analysis disputes it was losing money at all) it was nothing
02:09 AM CaptHindsight: it will be dealing with climate issues and population
02:09 AM gloops: it cost 50 million a year to keep those men on the dole - and they were on the dole for decades
02:10 AM CaptHindsight: gloops: similar here with farming
02:10 AM roycroft: politics is not about money
02:10 AM roycroft: it's about power
02:10 AM CaptHindsight: in the US?
02:11 AM CaptHindsight: or are you just making a philosophical statement?
02:11 AM roycroft: it's that way everywhere
02:11 AM CaptHindsight: hasta banana
02:12 AM gloops: that was the whole strategy by Thatcher - the problem is the unions we just cant contain them - solution, destroy the industry, no industry no workers no unions
02:13 AM roycroft: and that's what has happened here
02:17 AM CaptHindsight: people don't notice what happens here until about 20 years after it happens
02:19 AM CaptHindsight: the south still hasn't gotten over the loss of the civil war
02:20 AM XXCoder: expecially boogaya twits
02:20 AM XXCoder: watch out for post-electral voting. lets see if they try pull off something
02:20 AM CaptHindsight: now we have a whole generation that has been growing up post 9/11
02:21 AM roycroft: so it appears that, 1: nfs doesn't work properly on windows *still*, after 30+ years of trying by microsoft, and 2. a qemu/kvm virtual machine cannot see the local network directly to mount smb shares when it's nat'ed
02:22 AM roycroft: i need to figure out how to bridge the network interface
02:22 AM roycroft: but it's after midnight
02:22 AM roycroft: so that will be a morning thing
03:06 AM gloops: https://twitter.com/UniofOxford/status/1330769567409385474
03:06 AM gloops: Oxford vaccine 90% effective, easy to store and transport
03:06 AM gloops: we have 100 million doses, so hopefully this war is over for us
03:07 AM XXCoder: easy to transport even better
03:07 AM XXCoder: first one needs to be very cold
03:07 AM gloops: yeah the Pfizer one has some problems in that area
03:09 AM gloops: AstraZeneca planning to distribute 3 billion doses in 2021
03:09 AM gloops: whole world needs doing
03:10 AM XXCoder: 3x world population is my guess, if you want covid go go away permently. it wont happen but it can start getting around and covid cases gets low
03:11 AM gloops: yeah the virus will collpase when the number of potential hosts reaches a minimum level
03:15 AM XXCoder: unless it can keep rolling around like cold and flu
03:15 AM XXCoder: it helps that it mutuates much slower than other 2 rna viruses
03:25 AM gloops: well its infectious for abot 10 days in a host, it has to spread to another host in that time for it to survive, if 6/10 people are immunes its chances get much lower
03:26 AM XXCoder: yeah gonna keep r below 1
03:26 AM gloops: and if all the vulnerable are done its not the same threat
03:27 AM XXCoder: first vaccine only lasts 9 months
03:27 AM XXCoder: does new one last same length of time or is it something different?
03:28 AM rs[m]: the virus has a reservoir in bats, so it will remain a threat
03:29 AM rs[m]: XXCoder: nobody has any idea how long any immunity will last, because sars cov2 has only been identified about a year ago
03:29 AM XXCoder: 365k people stufy says its 3 to 9 months.
03:30 AM XXCoder: thats more than large enough sample to nail that down pretty tightly
03:30 AM rs[m]: XXCoder: people in the trials got vaccinated about 2months ago, so nobody knows how long immunity lasts
03:31 AM rs[m]: or even if there is any
03:31 AM XXCoder: ah vaccines yeah first one said it is likely 9 months
03:31 AM XXCoder: second one is unknown
03:32 AM rs[m]: at the moment, nobody can know this stuff. everything else is just speculation.
03:32 AM XXCoder: natural immunity period is known now. vaccines isnt as pinned down.
03:33 AM rs[m]: have a source for that?
03:33 AM rs[m]: AFAIK natural immunity is also not known
03:36 AM XXCoder: damn took me while to find
03:36 AM XXCoder: https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/26/health/covid-19-immunity-wanes-large-study-finds/index.html
03:37 AM rs[m]: XXCoder: that is just one specific study. glancing at the cnn report this sticks out:
03:37 AM rs[m]: "Still, not enough is known to determine if antibodies provide any effective level of immunity to Covid-19, or how long people may be immune to reinfection with the coronavirus."
03:37 AM XXCoder: yeah
03:39 AM XXCoder: its pretty strong study, and it shows pretty good probilities
03:39 AM XXCoder: but not 100% agreed
03:39 AM XXCoder: *100%, i agree
03:40 AM rs[m]: I'm not sure what you are trying to say
03:40 AM XXCoder: sorry getting bit tired harder to make my point clearly
03:41 AM XXCoder: basically put, they have reasonable case that in many of cses, immunity does decrease
03:41 AM XXCoder: within 3 months in many cases
03:41 AM XXCoder: and it varies across age younger being longer immnunity than 70s
03:42 AM rs[m]: the CNN report doesn't say that
03:42 AM XXCoder: it does. 26% declined after 3 months
03:42 AM XXCoder: an it specifies what I said on age
03:42 AM rs[m]: We observe a significant decline in the proportion of the population with detectable antibodies
03:42 AM rs[m]: detectable antibodies != immunity
03:43 AM rs[m]: (!= stands for "is not equal to" for the non-c-programmers)
03:43 AM XXCoder: uh
03:43 AM XXCoder: i have degree in cs
03:43 AM XXCoder: i know what you meant.
03:44 AM XXCoder: so... if anti-bodies isnt immunity, what is it?
03:44 AM rs[m]: just wanted to be sure, sometimes i put jargon like that into sentences only to realize later that nobody understood ;)
03:45 AM rs[m]: IgG is just the first response of the immune system. Those disappear and usually are replaced with another type of antibody, IgM. But there are other immunie responses too
03:46 AM XXCoder: ok. that article isnt too clear on which type they detect
03:47 AM rs[m]: maybe i got that mixed up. but antibodies are not the only sign of immunity or an active response
03:47 AM rs[m]: ask an expert ;-)
03:48 AM XXCoder: https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/14/health/lasting-immunity-covid-19-antibodies-studies/index.html
03:48 AM XXCoder: "Two other antibody types -- IgM and IgA -- first spiked and then crashed in these patients. "We can say now that if a patient has IgA and IgM responses, they were likely infected with the virus within the last two months," Charles said."
03:48 AM XXCoder: still reading a bit
03:49 AM XXCoder: "This study suggests that if a vaccine is properly designed, it has the potential to induce a durable antibody response that can help protect the vaccinated person against the virus that causes COVID-19,"
03:50 AM XXCoder: i wonder if first vaccine is tied similiar to natural because it essentally is same, it sends in proteins that viruses has in body for immune systemn to react to
03:50 AM rs[m]: in all honesty, that is a very vague sentence that says "we didn't find anything that rules out vaccination"
03:51 AM XXCoder: yeah. though even if 9 months we have a chance
03:51 AM XXCoder: shorter time is, the larger vaccines numbers we need
03:52 AM rs[m]: the mode-rna and the other rna vaccine send in messenger-rna that encode part of the virus protein. somehow this gets into the cells (that seems to be the tricky part) and those cells begin producing this one virus protein
03:52 AM rs[m]: immune system reacts to that and develops antibodies against this protein that happen to also be effective against the sars virus
03:56 AM XXCoder: yeah the "spikes" on virus is what connects and virus sends rna in
03:59 AM rs[m]: this week in virology podcast nr. 684 is titled "persistence of SARS CoV2 immune memory"
04:48 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:58 AM Tom_L: morning
06:05 AM XXCoder: mornings
07:36 AM JT-Cave: my buddy with the sawmill went to his camp last weekend to hunt deer with his hunting/fishing buddies and one of them brought a special gift to the camp
07:56 AM Eric__: wasn't that generous of him
08:07 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, how'd the threads come out?
08:30 AM JT-Cave: didn't get that far last night
08:31 AM JT-Cave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3lTMXUCBvo
08:33 AM JT-Cave: yep, everyone at deer camp has covid now
08:33 AM Tom_L: don't go sawin any logs soon
08:33 AM JT-Cave: nope
08:34 AM Tom_L: do the leds flicker or is that just the video?
08:34 AM JT-Cave: they flicker a bit at low settings
08:35 AM JT-Cave: I need to try a higher pwm rate
10:41 AM satiowadahc: can you stick an RC filter after your pwm signal and before your LEDs?
10:53 AM W1N9Zr0: if you put an RC filter on a PWM that drives LEDs, you won't be able to use some lower portion of the brightness range because LEDs need some minimum voltage to turn on
10:53 AM W1N9Zr0: it'll also heat the MOSFET more because it'll be working in the linear range instead of saturation
10:57 AM W1N9Zr0: that flicker looks like it's happening because you're updating PWM duty cycle too often, or you're using a software PWM
11:03 AM W1N9Zr0: http://abyz.me.uk/rpi/pigpio/python.html here's a library that can use hardware PWM
01:17 PM cpresser: satiowadahc: there is already an RC filter in the system.. the FET has an input capacitance, and the driver-pin of the uC can only supply that much current. You will see the effect if you start switching really fast (depending on the FET, it can start around 100kHz)
02:14 PM satiowadahc: I've only seen the odd video haven't seen the full design
02:26 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:27 PM * JT-Shop moves all the crap from in front of the CHNC and wonders if it will work
03:51 PM JT-Shop: but more important do I remember how to run it
03:54 PM Tom_L: the big red button means stop
03:55 PM Tom_L: since i added that VFD i also added a contactor wired thru the estop for it. when i start it up now it sounds like one of the 'big boys'
03:57 PM Tom_L: err no it's wired thru the main power switch...
04:11 PM JT-Shop: contactor for the input side of the VFD?
04:11 PM * JT-Shop just made a delrin washer...
04:12 PM Tom_L: yeah
04:27 PM JT-Shop: got my 6 washers made but the CHNC has a bad air leak... might look this weekend
04:50 PM veegee: Hmm, what's the best way to transport long metal beams through a garage door with a forklift
04:50 PM veegee: you cant carry it normally because they're like 5m long so they won't fit through the door like that
04:51 PM veegee: so you either need a 4-directional forklift that can strafe sideways or somehow load the long beams so they're aligned in the direction of travel
05:04 PM Tom_L: head on at full speed
05:04 PM rs[m]: veegee: put one end on a pallet jack
05:04 PM rs[m]: not sure if it's the "best" way, but it works
05:09 PM XXCoder: exactly what I thought heh https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/343070336084082708/780570054668451870/127228014_1255447011504154_5198010333329479212_n.png?width=542&height=594
05:12 PM andypugh: veegee wheels on one end, is one way. I have seen Sampson Boat Co on Youtube move long wooden beams with forklift and wheels.
05:14 PM Tom_L: seems how they transport windmill blades
05:51 PM JT-Cave: W1N9Zr0, got any examples using pigpio to generate a pwm?
06:03 PM W1N9Zr0: https://nerdhut.de/2016/05/09/exact-timings-raspberry-pi/
06:05 PM JT-Cave: thanks
06:05 PM JT-Cave: just checking it out now but it's dinner time
06:06 PM JT-Cave: so far it's working without any winking blinking or nod
06:09 PM justan0theruser is now known as justanotheruser
07:29 PM unterhaus: I mistakenly bought aluminum with certificates
07:30 PM XXCoder: expensive
07:30 PM Tom_L: heh
07:35 PM unterhaus: I thought it cost a bit much
07:35 PM Tom_L: next time...
07:36 PM gregcnc: what is a reasonable price for 6061 right now?
07:36 PM unterhaus: total bill with shipping was still only $40, so noise level really
07:37 PM Tom_L: gregcnc i dunno, i always get mine surplus
07:37 PM Tom_L: not sure what their /lb rate is right now
07:37 PM gregcnc: prices are all over the place it seems
07:38 PM unterhaus: Tom_L you go to a scrapyard?
07:38 PM Tom_L: yup
07:38 PM unterhaus: There is a decent scrapyard about 40 miles from here
07:38 PM unterhaus: closer ones not so great
07:38 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/local_stock/stock_index.php
07:39 PM Tom_L: maybe 4-5mi from me
07:39 PM Tom_L: http://www.aluminumyard.com/
07:39 PM unterhaus: I saw those pictures before, we have nothing like that
07:40 PM Tom_L: most of the red marked is 6061
07:41 PM Tom_L: usually any size you need or real close
07:41 PM unterhaus: I assume most of it's coming from boeing?
07:42 PM Tom_L: one of the aircraft here yeah
07:42 PM Tom_L: boeing is spirit here now
07:42 PM unterhaus: so the blue is 7075?
07:42 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure
07:42 PM Tom_L: either blue or yellow
07:42 PM unterhaus: by volume, airplanes are mostly 7075 or 2024
07:43 PM unterhaus: unless they are made out of epoxy
07:43 PM gregcnc: it's odd that the colors never became a standard
07:44 PM unterhaus: they probably are a standard at wherever they came from
07:45 PM gregcnc: yes, but not a national standard
07:45 PM unterhaus: you will occasionally see one of the big companies standards adopted by everybody
07:45 PM unterhaus: it has proper standardized markings on the surface probably
07:46 PM unterhaus: looking at the catalog, I think the mcmaster person gave me a certificate even though I didn't pay for it
07:47 PM gregcnc: mcmaster is a bit high, but not out of line
07:49 PM unterhaus: but they didn't send me a receipt, so hopefully they don't charge me for it with the shipping
08:15 PM Rab: I believe I have received a certificate for a cheap piece of stock from McMaster before.
08:50 PM veegee: Why are modern forklift battery chargers so huge and shitty
08:50 PM veegee: It's really not that hard to make a switched mode transformerless multi voltage charger
08:51 PM veegee: Might as well get a solar charge controller and a cheap power supply which costs less and has a much more complex charging algorithm with temperature compensation and everything
10:23 PM flyback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eWNRhNGPLM

11:38 PM renesis: it wasnt freenode until 2000s, pretty sure
11:38 PM roycroft: back then there was efnet and undernet, primarily
11:39 PM renesis: lilo was a weak op, he should have banned my ass several times
