01:41 AM Deejay: moin
04:52 AM jymmmm: morning
05:20 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:21 AM XXCoder: heys
05:24 AM jymmmm: how goes XXCoder?
05:24 AM XXCoder: not a lot. you?
05:25 AM jymmmm: too much, but it is what it is,lol
05:27 AM XXCoder: such is life
05:28 AM jymmmm: I shouldn't even be awake at 3am, sigh
05:33 AM XXCoder: 3 am is new 3 pm ;)
05:42 AM _unreal_: mission tooth fiery was a success. though my daughter did roll onto my arm trying to get the freaking envelope hehe..
05:45 AM jymmmm: $2000 for a phone, and it's way disportional https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5Iwx4t2oQA
05:46 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: Fine, gimme the old 3am then
05:46 AM XXCoder: lol
05:47 AM XXCoder: thats 2000?
05:47 AM XXCoder: dang no thanks
05:47 AM jymmmm: Yep
05:47 AM jymmmm: and no uSD slot
05:47 AM jymmmm: Samsung is trying to be like Apple I guess.
05:48 AM jymmmm: Ok, I guess you can get it for $600 now
05:49 AM XXCoder: not too bad for high end
05:50 AM XXCoder: but not what I would want
05:50 AM XXCoder: i decided s4 would be my last one, and I havent gotten another since
05:52 AM jymmmm: I'd like a 6" screen, but not these narrow screens they have now, and a uSD card slot
05:53 AM XXCoder: appl seem to be trending elf
05:53 AM XXCoder: ie very tall and thin
05:53 AM jymmmm: yeah, forget that
05:53 AM XXCoder: id not be surpised if one of versions in future would be inch wide and foot long
05:55 AM jymmmm: lol
05:55 AM jymmmm: I'd still b using my 6" phone if it had a 700MHz radio in it
05:56 AM jymmmm: long and skinny... I'm guessing for girl hands
05:59 AM XXCoder: maybe
05:59 AM XXCoder: my hands is around average though thick wrists heh
05:59 AM XXCoder: when i try grasp my wrist theres inch gap
06:00 AM jymmmm: I like the 6" normal because I can zoom in , and still loks good when watching a video in landscape
06:02 AM jymmmm: ok I give, I have a date with a pilloww (again)
06:02 AM XXCoder: night
06:02 AM XXCoder: or erm good lovin?
06:10 AM Tom_L: morning
06:11 AM JT-Cave: morning
06:11 AM XXCoder: heys
06:29 AM Tom_L: 55F hi 80
06:30 AM XXCoder: hi 60f, 50 aqi
06:30 AM XXCoder: way better
06:34 AM JT-Cave: 52°F sunny high 72°F :)
06:35 AM _unreal_: well thats a bugger.. the small original spindle I have that I'm future designing for my daughters cnc machine I'm building
06:36 AM _unreal_: the multi mount base that I built the bearing housing hole on the motor has a tiny taper to it
06:36 AM _unreal_: 1mm taper
06:47 AM JT-Cave: went to cut on the bandsaw and noticed some rust on it... 3 hours later the coolant tank is clean with fresh coolant... I should have made an in your face waving hands video and got rich lol
06:48 AM _unreal_: ?
06:48 AM XXCoder: lol
06:49 AM XXCoder: some of those ok, most of em, is too basic for me
06:49 AM XXCoder: like "oh wow 2+2=4! how amazing is that!"
06:50 AM XXCoder: not literally. hope theres no literal 2+2=4 ones
06:50 AM veegee: Why the hell are mag drills so expensive?
06:51 AM XXCoder: it has cool word "mag"
06:51 AM veegee: they're more expensive than my benchtop drill press
06:52 AM veegee: I really don't understand which part is expensive
06:52 AM JT-Cave: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/raspberry-coop.1416035/
06:52 AM veegee: is it the magnet?
06:53 AM JT-Cave: that guy said "studies that chickens lay more eggs if they have music" lol a study??? it just a stupid amazon partner site
06:54 AM JT-Cave: oh well time to clean chicken shit and let the dalton gang out
06:54 AM veegee: Looks like I'll use a hand drill to drill a hole in my fork
06:55 AM veegee: Don't need to spend $1,500 for one hole
06:56 AM veegee: https://www.canadamagdrills.ca/product/hmd906-hougen-mag-drill/ wtf
07:00 AM veegee: "These cutters feature a full length flute to pull chips out when deep in the hole." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
07:05 AM veegee: My entire vertical mill cost less than some of these damn things
07:06 AM syyl: once you used one, you know why
07:06 AM syyl: they are a joy to use.
07:07 AM syyl: its like a highquality drillpress with brutal torque to carry along with you
07:09 AM veegee: syyl that doesn't justify the cost
07:10 AM veegee: Very useful, yes
07:10 AM veegee: I wouldn't mind having one right on my welding table either
07:11 AM veegee: I'll have to find a good used one
07:11 AM JT-Cave: it's sometimes odd to see 1/2 of a conversation on here
07:12 AM veegee: JT-Cave it's IRC, that's /normal/
07:12 AM veegee: https://www.amazon.ca/Evolution-Power-Tools-Magnetic-Drilling/dp/B00LUJ13OC I guess $640 isn't too bad
07:13 AM veegee: "28mm cutter diameter capacity" I hope that's not because of clearance
07:13 AM veegee: I'm sure it can do 50mm just fine
07:14 AM veegee: I can drive a 50mm annular cutter into mild still with a cordless drill
07:14 AM veegee: steel*
08:37 AM robotustra: skunkworks, you mentioned that on emco 5 X travel is 2"?
09:40 AM skunkworks: robotustra: yes -
09:47 AM skunkworks: robotustra: the spec is 50mm
10:04 AM robotustra: I thought that my travel is small, but if you have only 50 mm I'm good with 90 mm
10:04 AM skunkworks: heh
10:05 AM skunkworks: with the qctp 2 inches seems like just enough for both boring and turning
10:10 AM robotustra: if you make a tool changer with differen distances - you can extend your range
10:11 AM robotustra: I decided to make 90 mm range only form rigidity point of view. I could make like 120 mm travel
10:13 AM robotustra: but decided that 180 mm for part is too much
11:32 AM rober is now known as Guest31755
12:02 PM snakedGT is now known as snaked
01:53 PM rue_shop2: if I could be bothersome, just doing some realtime table leveling
01:56 PM rue_shop2: for a relative move, I switch modes, right?
01:56 PM rue_shop2: whats the switch to relaive mode...
01:58 PM rue_shop2: ... nobody alive...
02:19 PM veegee: Sorry, I'd tell you if I knew
02:20 PM veegee: How are hydraulic pumps rated in terms of power? Or how would I select sizing based on required power?
02:20 PM veegee: I mean, the power comes from the motor driving the pump. So what metric should be used to select the pump?
02:22 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/fluid-power-basics/article/21884136/engineering-essentials-fundamentals-of-hydraulic-pumps
02:23 PM CaptHindsight: "Pumps are generally rated by their maximum operating pressure capability and their output, in gpm or lpm, at a given drive speed, in rpm."
02:23 PM veegee: CaptHindsight perfect explanation, exactly what I needed, thank you!
02:24 PM rue_shop2: ok, well that job is going to either be ok or completely screw up, I'm gonna go have a shower...
02:24 PM veegee: good idea, a shower will soften the blow when you come back and observe the disaster
02:32 PM robotustra: good to know https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXR2wDDFFm4
02:34 PM Eric__: I need a pin extractor for an ms3116 connector pin that doesn't cost too much
02:38 PM Eric__: I guess $70 isn't horrible
02:41 PM CaptHindsight: Digi-Key Part Number A9979-ND
02:41 PM Eric__: ebay hates the watch list
02:42 PM CaptHindsight: $20
02:43 PM Eric__: that looks like a good deal but it's not obvious that it's for the right application
02:43 PM CaptHindsight: similar are all $20 thereabouts
02:45 PM Eric__: that variety of MS connector extracts from the front. I think I might have the insertion tool
02:46 PM Eric__: it has to be a good fit on the contact
02:48 PM Eric__: best price I found so far, the ring pushes a plunger https://www.ebay.com/c/1941132426
02:56 PM Eric__: one of the connectors I need 4 of costs $100 each. Don't think that included contacts, not sure
02:57 PM Eric__: I guess those motors weren't such a good deal after all
02:58 PM CaptHindsight: I've been quoted thousands for cables
02:58 PM CaptHindsight: Eric__: can't you use some other connectors?
02:59 PM rue_shop2: ok, all the cuts are done and the part isn't screwed up yet!
03:00 PM Eric__: cables are one thing, they know most customers don't care about the price (much)
03:00 PM Eric__: I would have to re-wire the motors, which I suppose is possible
03:01 PM CaptHindsight: we got down to 38 F last night
03:01 PM Eric__: I bought a cable recently and the guy was apologizing for the price, which was $50
03:01 PM Eric__: I didn'
03:01 PM Eric__: didn't tell him he was undercharging
03:02 PM Eric__: I covered my tomatoes, don't know if that helped or not
03:03 PM Eric__: supposed to get down to 36 F for the next 2 days, got to do a better job of covering them
03:15 PM veegee: Worst thing
03:16 PM veegee: I left my naproxen in my backpack at the workshop
03:16 PM veegee: But I'm at the office with some computer work to do and my shoulder is killing me
03:24 PM veegee: CaptHindsight I should install one of these with a T fitting right? https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1-4-in-npt-pressure-test-point/A-p8269961e
03:25 PM veegee: I could just add a gauge in line with quick coupler fittings too I guess
03:26 PM veegee: Also what are typical relief valve pressures? 3,500 PSI gauge is adequate? Or 7,500 PSI gauge?
03:41 PM Deejay: gn8
03:56 PM robotustra: g9
04:47 PM skunkworks: put one of these other motherboards I had for testing - latency sucked. Looked at the latency-histogram - 3 cores isolcups=3
04:48 PM skunkworks: I guess I have 3 and 4 core phenom cpus...
04:48 PM CaptHindsight: likely
04:49 PM CaptHindsight: you could often unlock the 4th core
04:49 PM skunkworks: it is much better with isolcpus=2 - but not quite as good as the 4 core
04:53 PM skunkworks: I have not tried to update the bios - but it sucks there isn't a power on when powered option
05:15 PM XXCoder: its great day here
05:15 PM XXCoder: 15 aqi!
05:15 PM XXCoder: tomorrow will be 50 which isnt bad but every window is open and doors too
05:24 PM CaptHindsight: dipped to just under 40F here last night, was nice for a change
05:24 PM CaptHindsight: clear sunny 60'f most of the week ahead
06:05 PM robotustra: does anybody know what should be cutting angles for flycutter?
06:49 PM _unreal_: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CuUszxKaFziVnQKX9
06:53 PM jdh: https://photos.app.goo.gl/XNv8cuBqbepgwnCw5
06:54 PM jdh: just did that black plate. thought it turned out great.
07:00 PM Eric__: jdh looks good, what is it attached to?
07:01 PM jdh: rebreather for diving
07:02 PM robotustra: there is a teeth of shark engraved
07:02 PM robotustra: now it make sense to me :)
07:03 PM jdh: I collect shark teeth while diving. sell them and buy toys (like the rebreather)
07:41 PM veegee: CaptHindsight is the usual way to install a T fitting with a pressure test point?
07:41 PM veegee: because the hydraulic test kits I see just include quick couplers and pressure gauges so I'm guessing they're assuming a pressure test point fitting is already available
08:19 PM CaptHindsight: veegee: yah gotta do what yah gotta do
08:19 PM veegee: CaptHindsight I mean I'm asking if that's the right way to go about it
08:19 PM veegee: or is there something obvious I'm missing?
08:19 PM CaptHindsight: you put a gauge where it make sense to measure what you need to measure
08:20 PM CaptHindsight: it's just temporary
08:21 PM CaptHindsight: if purging and cleaning the system doesn't clear the problem then measure what it is doing
08:35 PM veegee: CaptHindsight yeah so T fitting is necessary right at the cylinder
08:36 PM veegee: need to measure with the line disconnected and then connected to see if it's the valve or the cylinder that's blocking
08:36 PM veegee: I just realized I have spare cylinders for this machine, I'll probably hook the line up directly to one of those as well
08:37 PM veegee: Also, is there any disadvantage to using AW46 or AW64 viscosity hydraulic oil instead of AW32?
08:37 PM veegee: It's an old machine so maybe higher viscosity will seal things better?
08:39 PM veegee: Unrelated: http://azimuthsolar.ca/product-category/batteries/ lol and yet that graph just makes me trust LiFePO4 even more. Stable, predictable, reliable, proven chemistry that just works
08:40 PM veegee: 5,000 cycles to 50% depth of charge to degrade battery to 80% of original capacity is damn impressive
08:41 PM veegee: especially with the volumetric power density that LiFePO4 has
10:53 PM Eric__: large box of milspec connectors, I found one I need. It's a miracle.
10:53 PM Eric__: one of the $60 connectors, not the $100 connectors, unfortunately
