02:58 AM veek: would anyone here know of a purchasing agent in Germany
03:03 AM veek: Einkäufer
03:08 AM Loetmichel: veek: for what?
03:08 AM Loetmichel: you need a part thats only aviable in germany and you want someone to send it abroad?
03:11 AM veek: Loetmichel, yes - well currently I wanted a roll of https://shop.antalis-verpackungen.de/business/html/search/keywordSearch.htm?searchText=Aluminiumverbundfolie
03:11 AM veek: but i was thinking more on the lines of a 6 monthly shipment
03:11 AM Loetmichel: i see
03:12 AM Loetmichel: there should be people who are willing to do that services if you pay in advance. But i dont know any.
03:12 AM veek: unless anyone has a better idea - yeah :( I've my entire life found only 1 chinese guy who actually sent me something and the transaction was complicated involving BTC
03:12 AM Loetmichel: and honestly i have seen way to many scammers that get you to purchase something and send it somewhere and then disappear to think you would get a lot of responses
03:13 AM veek: Loetmichel, send it 'somewhere' meaning?
03:14 AM Loetmichel: exactly what you were proposing but with "pay later". resulting in no goods AND no money for the agent.
03:14 AM veek: ah nope.. that would not work - heh
03:14 AM veek: I need someone who'll identify himself.. I think I can identify myself quite accurately
03:15 AM veek: there's a govt website and such to ID me..
03:16 AM Loetmichel: veek: why isnt calling the supplier and figure something out an option? germans usually speak a somewhat understandable english
03:17 AM Loetmichel: or did you already try and they outright refused to sell?
03:17 AM veek: Loetmichel, did that - mailed them in german/english
03:17 AM veek: but i'm pessimistic Antalis is a B2B and I'm not a B
03:18 AM Loetmichel: call them. Internet is "neuland" here, not all companies are already arrived there ;)
03:18 AM Loetmichel: and the B2B thing is because of B2C protection laws in germany, that should NOT apply to foreigners.
04:11 AM Deejay: moin
05:21 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:23 AM XXCoder: hey jt
05:24 AM XXCoder: jt man today was nasty
05:25 AM XXCoder: job was fairly easy... but I was lurching around like i drank way too much
05:26 AM JT-Cave: wow balance off?
05:26 AM XXCoder: super dizzy
05:32 AM XXCoder: 5 flipping weeks.
05:32 AM XXCoder: 5.
05:32 AM XXCoder: it looks like it wont end soon either. i wonder if it will surpass 9 months like last one
05:38 AM JT-Cave: damn my hydraulic hoses for the Kubota are Expected to Ship: 7 - 10 business days
05:39 AM XXCoder: fun
05:52 AM Loetmichel: Man, sometimes i want some of the stuff our customers are obviously smoking... one just ordered a _new_ system (ONE SINGLE ONE) with an I5-2500k and a GTX640... specifically that, no less no more... what do they think? that we have time machines to get the parts?
05:52 AM XXCoder: lol
05:52 AM Tom_L: morning
05:52 AM XXCoder: yo
05:55 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:59 AM veek: Loetmichel, heh it sells here for $70
05:59 AM veek: but no GTX
06:01 AM XXCoder: maybe ask if you can buy used and recondition them
06:03 AM veek: it doesn't make sense.. the savings if any are negligible and the newer cpus usually do it better
06:03 AM veek: (especially when you ask someone else to do it for you)
06:04 AM Loetmichel: military, so probably locked BOM... but still makes for a "WTF?" moment
06:06 AM veek: sandybridge
07:16 AM Loetmichel: *maaan* sometimes my workpiece mounting is REALLY janky... (and LOUD when you mill the top side of that C-channel) -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17877&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
07:27 AM Loetmichel: btw: that plywood board is glued to the vacuum table with double sided tape... and the clamps are made of 8mm thick perspex... ;)
07:50 AM JavaBean: perspex???? perspective? like the kind made of cupcakes?
08:03 AM Loetmichel: JavaBean: plexiglass
08:04 AM * JT-Shop just thought he was going to split firewood while it felt like a sauna outside this morning but the battery is low
08:24 AM JavaBean: you missed the "HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy" reference, Loetmichel
08:29 AM Loetmichel: i did indeed
09:09 AM tiwake: JT-Shop: my garage door took 2 months to leave the home depot distribution center, 6 hour drive away
09:10 AM tiwake: it should be finally arriving tomorrow
09:46 AM pink_vampire: hi
09:58 AM jymmmm: pink_vampire: Hi, still on the phone?
09:58 AM pink_vampire: nope
09:59 AM jymmmm: JT-Shop: : Battery powered maul?
10:01 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: WEll, they sold out of the 60A cells, but they have a case of 80x 4.4A flat pack cells
10:25 AM pink_vampire: Any idea how to make initializing signal from Linuxcnc to the probe if I run G38 command?
10:26 AM pink_vampire: I need to put the probe in a sanding signal state
11:08 AM JT-Cave: m62
11:44 AM pink_vampire: JT-Cave: but how do I set the output?
11:45 AM JT-Cave: M62 P0 for digital out 0
11:45 AM JT-Cave: that will get set when the next line of code is run
12:07 PM Loetmichel: re from the hardware store... i REALLY shouldnt go that often to that Bison burger (mobile) shop on its parking lot. two burgers, one french fries... 22.30 ;)
12:08 PM JT-Shop: tiwake, that's a long time even for HD
12:09 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel, sounds like a 10 pound lunch lol
12:13 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: you forgot the small diet coke ;)
12:13 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: nah, each burger was the size of a big king xxl. but MUCH more tasty.
12:13 PM Loetmichel: its just so expensive because bison isnt really common in germany
12:14 PM jymmmm: it's not common everywhere
12:14 PM Loetmichel: that trailer (airstream!) is only a promo for the bison farm "nearby"... you can even order packed raw meat there.
12:15 PM jymmmm: I had a friend that could eat two 4x4's (4 patties, 4 cheese) and three orders of fries at one sitting, no clue how he did it
12:15 PM Loetmichel: flexible stomach
12:15 PM jymmmm: hollow leg is more like it
12:16 PM Loetmichel: but 4 patties 4 cheese sounds not that much at all ;)
12:16 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3vv9lGdvrY
12:17 PM Loetmichel: <- managed to eat a couple of "spagetti omlettes" not tooo long ago... made of 250gr noodles, 6 eggs and some ground meat. and sauce
12:17 PM Loetmichel: those were advertized at the restaurant with: "if you eat two you dont have to pay the second"
12:18 PM Loetmichel: jym: that looks TASTY
12:18 PM Loetmichel: ;)
12:18 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: haha, yeah, he ordered animal style
12:20 PM Loetmichel: jymmmm: i mean: i have a belly for a reason... ;)
12:20 PM Loetmichel: and quite much belly i may add ;)
12:21 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: haha. Hey they ran out of those 60A cells, I'm considering using these cells instead... https://batteryhookup.com/products/new-case-of-80-3-7v-4-4ah-16-28wh-w-bms
12:22 PM Loetmichel: hmm, isnt GETAC an american military notebook manufacturer?
12:22 PM jymmmm: I believe so
12:22 PM Loetmichel: why do they make li* batteries all of a sudden?
12:22 PM pink_vampire: what will be the best way to connect twisted pair cable (4 pairs), I need VCC, GND, SIGNAL A, SIGNAL B
12:23 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: These are surplus cells
12:23 PM Loetmichel: pink_vampire: sounds like a job for RJ45
12:23 PM pink_vampire: I'm using it
12:23 PM Loetmichel: ah, so they are FOR getac
12:23 PM Loetmichel: not made by them?
12:24 PM pink_vampire: but what will be the way to connect it so it will give the best noise reduction
12:24 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: All I know is what is in that listing, full case, new, unused
12:24 PM Loetmichel: yeah, was just wondering
12:24 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: Twisted pair in itself is low noise
12:24 PM Loetmichel: probably a biiig notebook order got canceled or something?
12:25 PM pink_vampire: but I just use one wire from each twisted pair it will not work
12:25 PM Loetmichel: point is: if those are notebook cells they are not made to deliver high currents
12:25 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: CAT5a has each pair twisted at different rates. You biggest issue would be outside noise, as cat5 is unshielded.
12:25 PM Loetmichel: more about capacity
12:26 PM pink_vampire: this is CAT 6A
12:26 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Right, 1C discharge is fine, I need longevity, not dump 200A at once
12:26 PM Loetmichel: pink_vampire: we adapt Cat5e and cat6 network cables to DB9 because they are "EMI-TIGHT"
12:26 PM Loetmichel: with the right shells on the back of course ;)
12:27 PM SpeedEvil: Loetmichel: it's not gotten easier to just give up and fiber?
12:27 PM Loetmichel: jymmmm: then i see no problem
12:27 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: chrme plated plastic ftw
12:27 PM pink_vampire: each pair is shielded and then all of them are also shielded
12:27 PM Loetmichel: SpeedEvil: most order with fiber, yes... but some still want copper ethernet
12:27 PM pink_vampire: and there is also ground wire
12:27 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: and the built in BMS would cause any issues ?
12:28 PM Loetmichel: i am also sending USB3 over standard DSUB9... would have never thought that that would work flawlessly at full rate ;)
12:28 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: ground that on only ONE end, not both.
12:28 PM Loetmichel: jym: shouldnt
12:28 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: wont it draw a little power on it's own?
12:29 PM Loetmichel: if anything you could dig up the connection info and use it in a "bus based BMS" for your battery pack
12:29 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: I'll be using an external BMS. "bus based"???
12:29 PM pink_vampire: I need to connect 5 wires, but 2 of them are VCC
12:30 PM pink_vampire: but I'm not sure how to use the 8 wires, to make the twisted pairs work
12:31 PM Loetmichel: jym: i meant digging up the info how the white wire is interfaced with... (probably some onewire protocol) and then read the BMSes out and have no need for an external one
12:31 PM Loetmichel: AND have status for each 2 cell pack if desired
12:31 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: You think it's one-wire and not temperature?
12:31 PM Loetmichel: i would say yes.
12:32 PM Loetmichel: if those cells are meant to work in a notebook you basically need to ask the bms how much capacity is left
12:32 PM Loetmichel: temperature doesent help much here ;)
12:33 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Ok, if it's one-wire, what's a good way to get started playing with it?
12:35 PM Loetmichel: it COULD also be temperature or an open collector alarm wire
12:35 PM Loetmichel: so the load can drop when one cell has a problem
12:35 PM Loetmichel: i was just assuming
12:36 PM Loetmichel: to be clear one must have one of those cells and dig out the BMS and look at the chip datasheet on it
12:36 PM Loetmichel: and reverse engineer the PCB
12:36 PM Loetmichel: s/clear/sure
12:36 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Yeah, I understand. I havne't bought anything yet
12:37 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: I just wanted to get your thoughts on those cells, maybe there's might have been something I missed in the listing
12:38 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: are you using shield or unsield cable?
12:44 PM pcw_home: pink_vampire: I would use the pairs like this GND/A GND/B VCC/VCC (one spare pair)
12:47 PM pink_vampire: CAT6A shielded
12:57 PM likevinyl is now known as Guest78398
01:00 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: sounds liek you are good to go. jsut rememebr NOT to connect the shield on BOTH ends, only one.
01:01 PM pink_vampire: I don't think It will be connected in any and
01:11 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: You need to connect to at least one end to ground to gain the shielding aspects.
01:11 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: earth ground
01:11 PM jymmmm: ...if you can that is.
01:16 PM pink_vampire: I don't have shielded RJ-45 connectors
01:22 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: just run the shield out seperatly
01:23 PM pink_vampire: it is just a test right now
01:24 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: just run a stun gun near the cable :D
01:25 PM pink_vampire: with hot glue and Propene
01:35 PM jymmmm: pink_vampire: The high voltage will put out a lot of EMI, it's a quick and dirty test if the shielding is doing it's job.
01:37 PM Tom_L: masks required in public after friday midnight here
01:37 PM gregcnc: why wait?
01:37 PM Tom_L: i didn't say i did
01:37 PM Tom_L: but that's the state talking
01:43 PM Rab: pink_vampire, pair 1: VCC/GND, pair 2: SIGNAL A/GND, pair 3: SIGNAL B/GND. That leaves you one extra pair, so you could double up VCC/GND for more current capacity.
01:45 PM Rab: That assumes you are sending power and both signals to the remote peripheral. If you are receiving A or B from the remote peripheral, the situation can be slightly more complicated since GND on those pairs should be your ground return for those signals and not connected to main local GND.
01:49 PM Rab: And it also assumes low-frequency single-ended signaling. For higher frequencies (or long distances), you would want a differential transceiver much like...ethernet.
03:00 PM miss0r: syyl: hey are you around?
03:00 PM syyl: hey
03:00 PM syyl: yes
03:01 PM syyl: i was machine moving today
03:01 PM miss0r: Nice
03:01 PM miss0r: Do you know anything about the emco concept turn 55?
03:01 PM miss0r: (i.e. reputation/quality)
03:02 PM miss0r: It is a cute little desktop CNC
03:02 PM miss0r: :)
03:03 PM * miss0r is wondering because he has recieved an offer for one, that is professionally converted to centroidCNC
03:08 PM gregcnc: it's tiny
03:09 PM gregcnc: check YT to see what kind of parts they make
03:09 PM Deejay: gn8
03:10 PM XXCoder: Tom_L: more and more states requiring that. interesting. wa it was last friday
03:11 PM miss0r: yes. its tiny. The idea is that I will use it for all the custom bolts I get orders for :D
03:13 PM gregcnc: if serious, bolts or screws?
03:15 PM jymmmm: lathe with a tool charnger, interesting
03:15 PM miss0r: gregcnc: How would you define the difference?
03:15 PM gregcnc: size though i don't really know where that is
03:15 PM jymmmm: wrench vs screwdriver?
03:16 PM jymmmm: srench/socket vs screwderiver/hex key
03:16 PM miss0r: jymmmm: In that case, both :)
03:17 PM jymmmm: miss0r: your so screwed!
03:17 PM miss0r: although it does not have any rotating tools.
03:17 PM miss0r: jymmmm: HA! :D
03:17 PM jymmmm: miss0r: or is that bolted?
03:17 PM gregcnc: live tooling? you need a serious machine
03:18 PM jymmmm: gregcnc: live tooling? Is that like chucking up a beaver?
03:18 PM gregcnc: if carbide beaver with appetite for steel
03:18 PM jymmmm: beaver insert?
03:18 PM miss0r: I think I should be able to mount a small spindle of sorts
03:18 PM gregcnc: no comment
03:18 PM miss0r: Hmm... Perhaps not ;:D
03:19 PM jymmmm: gregcnc: :D
03:19 PM gregcnc: 5 screws or 5000/month?
03:20 PM gregcnc: small lathe with live tooling leaves little choice
03:20 PM miss0r: gregcnc: Haha. 5
03:21 PM miss0r: Well.. Last month I was asked to make 500 screws (at a quite reasonable price, mind you - Other wise I would not touch it with a 12ft pole). I had to decline because of my manual lathe
03:21 PM miss0r: also, I've long wanted to do some chess peices ;)
03:21 PM jymmmm: miss0r: http://www.emco-world.com/en/products/industrial-training/machines/turning/cat/20/d/2/p/1000434,20/pr/concept-turn-60.html
03:23 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Hmmmm, if the shipping wouldn't kill me, I'd have you make me some
03:23 PM miss0r: :]
03:24 PM miss0r: if its only *some* I don't think the shipping would kill you. Merely wound you :D
03:24 PM jymmmm: same diff
03:24 PM jymmmm: miss0r: You live more in BFE than I do =)
03:25 PM miss0r: huh? I don't know that abbreviation
03:25 PM jymmmm: miss0r: So, what did they offer you this emco for?
03:26 PM jymmmm: BFE = Bum Fuck Egypt = Middle of nowhere =)
03:26 PM miss0r: hehe
03:26 PM miss0r: hardly :D
03:26 PM miss0r: Although I wish I DID live in the middle of nowhere.
03:26 PM miss0r: Sometimes atleast
03:26 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Do you have a snowcat?
03:27 PM miss0r: Nah. I have land rovers :)
03:27 PM miss0r: yes... plural
03:27 PM jymmmm: in winter?
03:27 PM miss0r: Are you talking about the vehicle or the animal here?
03:27 PM miss0r: Either way, no :D
03:28 PM jymmmm: miss0r: and how deep is the winter snow?
03:28 PM miss0r: Now'a'days. 0"
03:28 PM miss0r: This winter we hardly had any snow
03:29 PM jymmmm: O_o
03:29 PM miss0r: as in. I think the most snow I saw this time'round was a light drissle. Nothing stayed on the ground.
03:29 PM miss0r: The snow have been dissapearing to nothing the last 20 years
03:30 PM jymmmm: ouch
03:30 PM miss0r: last time we had any snow worth mentioning was back in '15.
03:30 PM miss0r: That basically closed down the country overnight on a Friday. But come monday it was all but completely melted away
03:31 PM miss0r: before that.. *sigh* I can't even remember
03:32 PM miss0r: What makes me the most sad about that is that I haven't been able to take my kids Sledgeing. I'm still hoping though
03:33 PM jymmmm: miss0r: there's got to be snow SOMEWHERE
03:34 PM miss0r: Indeed. But traveling to get it is hardly the same as waking up a sunday morning & looking out the window on a snow covered landscape and just decide to dive in
03:35 PM jymmmm: Yeah, I get it
03:35 PM jymmmm: But not much choice anymore from what it sounds like
03:35 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Then you can make lifesized chess ieces out of snow
03:36 PM miss0r: Hehe
03:36 PM miss0r: Yeah
03:37 PM miss0r: well.. Once the land rover 101" is complete, We might take that to the northern sweeden and camp there. That should allow for some snow
03:38 PM miss0r: At the moment I am milling some brackets that will hold the 200ah/12v AGM battery pack for the solar array. It is comming along nicely
03:46 PM jymmmm: miss0r: AGM? Why?
03:47 PM jymmmm: miss0r: and solar on the land rover?
03:47 PM gregcnc: they won't spill when climbing 100% grade
03:47 PM jymmmm: Neither will iron
03:47 PM jymmmm: LiFePo
03:48 PM miss0r: THAT and the AGM has a better cycle lifetime than regular lead acid batteries
03:48 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Forget lead, LiFePo
03:48 PM gregcnc: how does cost compare to Pb these days
03:48 PM miss0r: I though about lithium batteries. I was actualy close to purchasing some. But would have been a hassle getting it to work with the two way VSR
03:49 PM miss0r: it is not realy compatible with the lead acis starter battery
03:49 PM jymmmm: miss0r: LiFe is EXACT replacement for 12V lead
03:49 PM miss0r: gregcnc: aprox double up
03:49 PM miss0r: jymmmm: Ha.. I haven't stumbled across those particular units
03:49 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Not necesarly starter, but like deepcycle
03:50 PM jymmmm: But there are https://batteryhookup.com/products/4-headway-38120-hp-3-2v-8ah-lifepo4-lithium-batteries-25c-200a-super-cells?variant=28616328413263
03:51 PM miss0r: sure sure.. But I am a lazy person :D I want a ready build pack to pace instead of an AGM or GEL. Otherwise it is not viable for me :D
03:51 PM jymmmm: Even though ppl have used for of those to start their cars
03:51 PM jymmmm: miss0r: Ok, battleborn, guanrteed 10 years
03:52 PM jymmmm: miss0r: https://www.amazon.com/LiFePO4-Volt-Deep-Cycle-Battery/dp/B06XX197GJ/
03:52 PM jymmmm: I can probably find you a promo code if you are seriously interested
03:54 PM miss0r: I might have been, had we had this conversation before I ordered and recieved the AGM batteries.
03:54 PM miss0r: :D
03:54 PM gregcnc: https://www.ebay.com/itm/383595417832
03:54 PM miss0r: Well.. In 5-years time when they are worn out, I will consider some LiFe then ;)
03:56 PM jymmmm: gregcnc: miss0r https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L43bArxyszU&t=333s
03:56 PM gregcnc: yeah
03:56 PM jymmmm: miss0r: you could sell them, just syaing
03:56 PM gregcnc: the prices soared soon after that video was posted
03:59 PM miss0r: I could. But I will just roll with it for now :) I have almost completed the brackets ect.
03:59 PM miss0r: and they are OVERLY COMPLICATED. Just the way I like it, apparently
04:00 PM gregcnc: as long as the bracket count is eternally increasing you're doing it right
04:00 PM miss0r: hehe indeed
04:01 PM miss0r: the batteries are mounted in a waterproof box on a mount that is hinged underneath the car. along side freshwater tank and sewage tank
04:01 PM miss0r: All very nicely designed, if I say so myself
04:02 PM jymmmm: miss0r: video build tour?
04:02 PM jymmmm: gregcnc: yeah they did
04:03 PM gregcnc: i haven't checked actual auction for those batteries in awhile though
04:03 PM miss0r: jymmmm: Sounds a bit over the. How do you feel about a slideshow of pictures with unbearable music playing? (I could make one of those, you know) :D
04:04 PM gregcnc: I've been waiting for another escargo episode
04:05 PM miss0r: heh
04:05 PM miss0r: This bracket has taken 2˝ hours to mill so far.
04:05 PM jymmmm: miss0r: slideshow less the music is fine
04:05 PM miss0r: Mainly because the program is SHIT
04:05 PM miss0r: and I am only making two, so I can't be bothered :D
04:06 PM miss0r: I think I could do this bracket in 30 minuts with some fiddling... but will I spend two hours fiddeling?
04:07 PM miss0r: The worst part, I could've welted one in 20 minuts that would've done just fine. But instead I decided to mill it out of a massive block.
04:07 PM miss0r: (could've would've)
04:20 PM jymmmm: miss0r: KISS
04:20 PM syyl: oh sorry
04:20 PM syyl: i was away miss0r
04:20 PM syyl: no, i dont have any usefull info on that machine
04:20 PM jymmmm: miss0r: KISS... Keep It Simple Stupid =)
04:21 PM jymmmm: syyl: any useless info? lol
04:21 PM syyl: its a lathe!
04:21 PM jymmmm: "Good Answer, Good Answer" <audiance appluases>
04:22 PM syyl: :D
04:22 PM syyl: look what i bought
04:22 PM syyl: http://gtwr.de/div/IMG_7362.jpg
04:22 PM jymmmm: nice trailer
04:22 PM jymmmm: but I guess you were tlaking about the... lathe?
04:23 PM syyl: (t&c grinder)
04:23 PM jymmmm: ah
04:23 PM pink_vampire: syyl: almost like my electrical cabinet
04:23 PM jymmmm: syyl: Sorry, I still like the trailer more =)
04:23 PM syyl: lol
04:23 PM syyl: the trailer is almost 15 years old
04:24 PM jymmmm: syyl: how much was it about?
04:24 PM syyl: the trailer?
04:24 PM jymmmm: yeah
04:24 PM syyl: i think, when my dad bought it, it was like 1200eur
04:24 PM jymmmm: ok, and the grinder too =)
04:25 PM syyl: the grinder substancial more ;)
04:25 PM jymmmm: lol

06:56 PM perry_j1987: so ether premade cnc or something i convert
06:56 PM perry_j1987: the precision mathews pm-25mv looks good to me and i think it'd handle everything i need to throw at it pretty much
07:01 PM Rab: perry_j1987, that'd be my first choice if I were buying a new machine on a budget.
07:02 PM perry_j1987: theres company in Minneapolis selling them all ready converted with enclosures looks like a tormach heh
07:02 PM perry_j1987: for 6k
07:05 PM Rab: Hmmm, if the budget's $6K I'd be a little less enthusiastic.

08:40 PM perry_j1987: Rab dont like that machine all done up for 6k?
09:08 PM jymmmm: Can I muck up anything by making/using a "bonding plug" for my generator?
09:19 PM Tom_L: what's it do?
09:20 PM Tom_L: some (most) generators use an excitation coil. maybe that helps energize it?
09:21 PM Tom_L: jymmmm, is it like a load resistor?
09:21 PM jymmmm: Tom_L: Just a socket with a single wire between gnd and neutral
09:21 PM Tom_L: hmm
09:22 PM jymmmm: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f7/generator-ems-reports-open-ground-48762-2.html
09:22 PM jymmmm: Basically as I understnad it, gen manufactures use a floating neutral just in case a tool shorts and doens't energize the frame of the gen if no earth ground.
11:55 PM skunkworks: usually the enterence breaker box has the neutral bonded to ground. That should be the only point that it is bonded.
11:56 PM skunkworks: (unless - reasons...)
11:59 PM skunkworks: funny story... at work we have sub electrical rooms that have their on transformers such. THe electrition didn't know that if you are isolating buldings with transfromers - at that point the neutral and ground need to be bonded agian.
