02:47 AM * Loetmichel thinks boss needs a coffee this morning... just got a call... "hey, can you tell me which ends of our HMDI to fiber converters goes where?" $me: "Seriously? ... The end with "TV" stamped on it goes into the monitor, the end with "DVD" on it in the PC." WTF?
03:43 AM pink_vampire: Loetmichel: LOL
03:44 AM pink_vampire: I always thought you guys are techy
04:16 AM Loetmichel: i did, too, pink_vampire.
04:17 AM Loetmichel: no so sure any more
04:32 AM pink_vampire: LOL

05:49 AM XXCoder: hey
05:49 AM XXCoder: did you see picture link? heh
05:50 AM andypugh: pink_vampire: No, you got us wrong, we are _tetchy_ not _techy_
06:24 AM Tom_L: morning
06:25 AM JT-Cave: morning
06:57 AM Loetmichel: XXCoder: OUCH!
07:26 AM t4nk_freenode: afternoon

09:30 AM CaptHindsight: going shopping for new eyes later, thanks
09:34 AM CaptHindsight is now known as TheSheepLie
09:39 AM skunkworks: XXCoder: I did that when I was little with dad's inch micrometer.. (I think I clamped some paper together..)
09:40 AM skunkworks: He was not too happy about it. ;)
09:41 AM SpeedEvil: That would be a neat tool accessory
09:41 AM SpeedEvil: Make a horrible weld, and then grind off a nice 1/4" radius in it, well smoothed and polished
09:41 AM SpeedEvil: This slips over a micrometer shaft.
09:48 AM Loetmichel: SpeedEvil: "grinder and paint makes me the welder i aint!"
11:34 AM Loetmichel: *BAH!* "nice weather to drive a convertible in" /s... *ordering new wiper blades* couldnt see sh** despite driving only 60kph and having the wipers on full speed :-(
11:51 AM Centurion-Dan2 is now known as Centurion_Dan
11:59 AM skunkworks: andypugh: where would that chat on hack-a-day happen?
12:03 PM Tom_L: you should get in on the action!
12:04 PM skunkworks: Heh - I think andy is more articulate..
12:04 PM skunkworks: and spells better
12:14 PM Tom_L: yeah but you got some cool stuff to show off
12:47 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: what Tom_L said =)
12:48 PM jymmmm: TheSheepLie: Nah, even when I typed it again, it still looked like an S though it was a 5
01:08 PM jymmmm: This is a nice looking 150W car inverter$20 https://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-Inverter-Converter-Adapter-Thinner/dp/B07Q5CXVF3
01:15 PM jymmmm: The only thing I don't like on it is that it's a plastic shell when the caps blow up inside it =)
01:44 PM andypugh: skunkworks: It would be here: https://hackaday.io/event/171601-ppe-testing-hack-chat (or, at least in a similar place as that is today’s which is due to start soon) https://hackaday.io/event/171601-ppe-testing-hack-chat
01:48 PM jymmmm: andypugh: Yu look a little orange
01:48 PM andypugh: I haven’t even said I will do it yet. and if I do it will probably be august.
01:49 PM jymmmm: OH, I thought you were starting today, my bad
02:13 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: WOW, the 15V meanwell is hard to get/find/expensive/scarry seller on amazon https://www.amazon.com/MEAN-WELL-original-LRS-350-15-Switching/dp/B06VYDWKLZ, yet the 24V 350W meanwell is inexpensive and easy to aquire https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VRK86SP/ I really wonder what the difference internally is? Like to be able to convert the common 24V to 15V ---- Specs https://www.meanwell.com/productPdf.aspx?i=435#1
02:24 PM perry_j1987: afternoon guys
02:24 PM perry_j1987: the fusion 360 linuxcnc postprocessor include 4th axis?
02:28 PM skunkworks: andypugh: thanks!
02:28 PM skunkworks: they schedule these things that far out?
02:31 PM andypugh: perry_j1987: There is one that does
02:32 PM perry_j1987: went through and got the latest version and then did the modifications to it to add the a axis
02:32 PM perry_j1987: var aAxis = createAxis({coordinate:0, table:true, axis:[0, 1, 0], range:[-360, 360], preference:1});
02:32 PM perry_j1987:
02:32 PM perry_j1987: edited if( to true)
02:32 PM andypugh: I have forgotten where I got mine from, but it is in “personal posts” so I might have modded it.
02:33 PM perry_j1987: my old one that i had working isnt outputting gcode anymore
02:33 PM perry_j1987: just creates ngc.failed
02:34 PM perry_j1987: if i open it up it appears to have created bunch of gcode but then trunicates
02:34 PM perry_j1987: N2855 X0. A-360.
02:34 PM perry_j1987: !Error: Failed to post data.
02:34 PM struf: hey, i have some power supply from D-Link router, rated 5V and 2A, will i burn my mesa 7i96 if i use that?
02:35 PM W1N9Zr0: the tormach fusion postproc can do 4th axis. you need to configure it for the rotary orientation (X+/X-/Y+/Y-), and it always outputs rotary as A instead of A/B based on orientation
02:41 PM veegee: XXCoder I'm teefin' that and posting it on reddit
02:41 PM XXCoder: lol
02:43 PM perry_j1987: Error: REWIND: Rewind of machine is required for simultaneous multi-axis toolpath and has been disabled.
02:47 PM pcw_home: struf: Just check that it puts out 5V with no load and it should be fine
02:52 PM struf: pcw_home: ok, thank you!
02:54 PM pcw_home: also for safety its better to ground the 5V common on 2 wire power supplies
02:54 PM pcw_home: (2 wire AC)
02:59 PM veegee: Worth getting a 4000 psi argon tank and a CGA 680 regulator?
02:59 PM veegee: Refill costs are more than the cost of the gas itself
03:12 PM perry_j1987: feels good infront of a fan today
