01:20 PM Loetmichel: jymmmm: i have 4 ender3s at the company
01:26 PM Loetmichel: yes
01:26 PM Loetmichel: and i do like them so far
01:26 PM Loetmichel: not much to dislike, maybe the limited speed
01:26 PM Loetmichel: but for the price they are nearly perfect
01:26 PM Loetmichel: have you seen the pic?
01:26 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17715&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
01:43 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: ah, you dont have the whole rPi thing going on with them?
01:47 PM CaptHindsight: you might have to use an ESP32 since the Rpi's cost too much
01:57 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: octoprint on esp32?
02:00 PM CaptHindsight: certainly something that almost works
02:01 PM jymmmm: I'm detecting sarcasm
02:01 PM CaptHindsight: if it's cheap enough it does not need to be open source
02:03 PM jymmmm: I lost ya, but okey =)
02:06 PM CaptHindsight: just pointing out maker behavior
02:07 PM jymmmm: ah, I know nuttin bout 3d printers
03:41 PM Deejay: gn8
04:10 PM CaptHindsight is now known as SprayCheese
04:11 PM SprayCheese is now known as CannedPizza
04:41 PM jymmmm: CannedPizza: aka CheeseINACan While there is a "proper" way to charge lipo cells, I have not seen any mention of being able to properly charge them when a BMS is being used. Unless some ebike charges have that built in that I haven't seen
06:05 PM veegee: Probably going to go with 1" black pipe for the main air supply line
06:06 PM veegee: Should be able to weld it pretty easily if it's steel
06:07 PM veegee: I have an air dryer so that should help quite a bit
06:57 PM CannedPizza: apparently the Rockchip3399 has an integrated Cortex M0
06:57 PM Tom_L: veegee, why weld it?
06:57 PM CannedPizza: so these might also be ale to run LCNC and hardware step without external hardware
06:57 PM CannedPizza: https://git.theobroma-systems.com/rk3399-cortex-m0.git
06:58 PM CannedPizza: http://opensource.rock-chips.com/images/6/60/Rockchip_RK3399_Datasheet_V1.6-20170301.pdf
06:58 PM CannedPizza: https://www.theobroma-systems.com/rk3399-q7-user-manual/04-software.html
06:59 PM CannedPizza: https://store.pine64.org/?product=rockpro64-4gb-single-board-computer uses RK3399 ^^
07:00 PM CannedPizza: The board is equipped with a PCIe x4 open ended slot,
07:01 PM CannedPizza: so you could use Mesa over PCIe, Ethernet or SPI
07:05 PM Tom_L: CannedPizza doesn't sound very appetising...
07:06 PM Tom_L: but at least that's back
07:07 PM CannedPizza is now known as HorseTeeth
07:09 PM jymmmm: Yo Cheese in a can (horseteeth), no video, just a header =(
07:09 PM jymmmm: HorseTeeth: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
07:10 PM HorseTeeth: jymmmm: witch link?
07:10 PM jymmmm: single board
07:11 PM HorseTeeth: https://store.pine64.org/?product=rockpro64-4gb-single-board-computer
07:11 PM jymmmm: yeah, that one
07:11 PM HorseTeeth: wekrs hear
07:11 PM jymmmm: hdmi?
07:12 PM jymmmm: HorseTeeth: No, I mean there's no hdmi on it
07:12 PM jymmmm: just a (I'm guessing) LVDI header
07:14 PM HorseTeeth: has HDMI
07:14 PM HorseTeeth: http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php?title=ROCKPro64#Connectors.2C_sockets_and_headers
07:15 PM HorseTeeth: #26
07:16 PM HorseTeeth is now known as SpamSpamEggsSpam
08:14 PM jymmmm: SpamSpamEggsSpam: aka Green eggs and ham, ah ok, cool.
08:55 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: mostly spam
09:05 PM Rab: https://sites.google.com/site/cncdiyorg/e240-spindle
09:05 PM Rab: Wow, that's an awful product. One of those ancient Electrocraft servos with an ER11 set screw adapter.
09:06 PM Rab: 200W
09:07 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: I have one around here
09:07 PM Rab: I have a bunch of those servos. The nose bearing is like a single 608ZZ.
09:07 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: forgot how it ended up here
09:07 PM Rab: I guess CNCDIY is no longer in business.
09:09 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: odd site
09:09 PM Rab: SpamSpamEggsSpam, do you have a preferred grease for linear rails and bearings?
09:09 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://sites.google.com/site/cncdiyorg/useful-software
09:11 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Rab: lately synthetic non moly grease
09:13 PM Rab: IKO allegedly specifies this item, cheapest source I've found: https://cnc-specialty-store.com/grease-lubrication/kluber-isolflex-nbu-15-50-gram-tube
09:15 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: 4 000 - 8000mPas
09:16 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: at room temp
09:16 PM Rab: Is that high, or low?
09:17 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://ecllube.com/resources-for-engineers/tutorials/ECL_Deciphering%20a%20Data%20Sheet.pdf
09:17 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: low for grease but that is used for spindles
09:19 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Lithium and barium complexes have similar lubrication qualities
09:19 PM Rab: Sounds ideal for some sick G0 moves.
09:22 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: slow moving rails with high loads = thick grease like peanut butter
09:24 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: spindles get hot so they require a lube that doesn't get to thin or breakdown at high temps or have particles that will make the bearings slide vs roll
09:25 PM Rab: I saw this recommended, but can't remember by whom...maybe Parker: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B015HJDDUM
09:25 PM Rab: Low-temp synthetic lithium grease.
09:26 PM Rab: Thanks for the informative PDF.
09:26 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: yeah covers the spectrum
09:27 PM Rab: Ideally I could find something pretty cheap that I could use across my random assortment of rails, without worrying too much about compatibility with the existing grease.
09:27 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: for slower rails I use Mobile 1 Synthetic
09:27 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-synthetic-grease#lightbox-pdsdatasheet
09:31 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://www.thelubricantstore.com/mobilux-ep-1-10x1
09:34 PM Rab: SpamSpamEggsSpam, price is hard to beat. Thanks!
09:36 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: for spindles I have vactra #2
09:36 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: oil
09:36 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: no that is for ways
09:38 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: #3 is spindle
09:38 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: ended up with a drum of each
09:38 PM Rab: Yeah, I have #2 for my manual mill.
09:39 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: have over 1/2 a drum of each if you need some
09:41 PM Rab: Why, thanks! I bought mine off of eBay from one of the people who subdivide their drum at 10x markup.
09:42 PM Rab: Looks like $10/qt is the going rate.
09:46 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://imgur.com/xw5PV90 came with a lathe
09:48 PM Rab: That's the kind of lube that put men on the moon. Were they hardened blocks of amber in the cans?
09:48 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: still liquid
09:49 PM Rab: My mill is a Clausing, it wants 20w oil for everything. It has about 20 tiny ball oilers.
09:50 PM Rab: But I brush Vactra #2 onto the ways and screws.
09:51 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: https://imgur.com/OVgL40b
09:51 PM Rab: Very nice, I'm looking for something similar.
09:52 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: it was stored for year and years
09:52 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: they coated it with that wax
09:52 PM Rab: Cosmoline?
09:52 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: or similar
09:53 PM Rab: That's the lube that defeated the Nazis.
09:53 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Nazi free here
09:57 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: I changed the motor out to a 2hp 2phase
09:57 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: 3 phase
09:57 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: the original motor went bad a few days after it arrived
09:57 PM Rab: Was 2hp stock?
09:58 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: 2HP single phase is the original
09:58 PM Rab: Do you use a VFD?
09:59 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: no, I flushed and filled the original hydraulic system and it works like new
10:00 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: bled it well and it just works
10:03 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Clausing Lathe Model 5914 Manual http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=3407
10:03 PM Rab: That's excellent. From lurking on the Clausing list, it seems like the hydraulics and VS drive on some of the models are a pain to deal with when they wear out.
10:10 PM enleth: Rab: speaking of defeating Nazis, I acquired a 1940s/1950s German surface grinder that is painted a *very* specific shade of gray
10:10 PM Rab: enleth, heh
10:11 PM enleth: I don't have an actual confirmed historical sample but I'm 99% percent sure it was painted with surplus Feldgrau
10:11 PM enleth: that is, the paint used on most Nazi tanks
10:11 PM enleth: s/percent//, duh
10:11 PM Rab: In a manner of speaking, that too put men on the moon. ;)
10:12 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Werner von
10:12 PM Rab: Grey, not Brown.
10:13 PM SpamSpamEggsSpam: Grey and Braun
10:14 PM enleth: I imagine after the war, with no tanks to paint anymore and a huge stock of leftover Feldgrau, it might have ended up in many places as a bargain buy
