04:24 AM Loetmichel: Hrrrmph... what happens when you "just quick" want to clean of the swarf of the back side of 25 freshly cut M3 threads in a profile... -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17791&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
04:31 AM Loetmichel: rmu|w: who cares, its the werong finger. also damaged
04:32 AM Loetmichel: also i use no fingerprint unlock anywhere
04:38 AM XXCoder: usa finger unlock falls under acceptable force and seizure unlock
04:38 AM XXCoder: while pin password does not
04:44 AM Loetmichel: XXCoder: i dont use any fingerprint lock because it dosent work more often than not (my fingers always look like this in one way or another)
04:44 AM XXCoder: lol makes sense. your toes?
05:18 AM jthornton: morning
05:18 AM XXCoder: yo
07:11 AM Tom_L: morning
07:27 AM Tom_L: Loetmichel, pretty soon they'll be using DNA then you'll be in business
08:01 AM p0g0: I doubt DNA will happen that soon, PCR is slow, and you can always spoof it with a blood sample.
08:01 AM p0g0: And synthetic DNA is not that far off either.
08:02 AM p0g0: Oh, and clones...
08:03 AM sensille: clones might be a problem for other biometric methods, too
08:12 AM jymmmm: fingerprint readers are easily spoofed, as secure as a rock thru a window =)
08:25 AM pink_vampire: hi
08:27 AM * JavaBean waves at the pink sparkling daywalker
08:31 AM Loetmichel: jymmmm: unless that window is 1/2" Polycarbonate ;)
08:51 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Ok, a rock and a road flare =)
11:06 AM JT-Shop: ordered some bike grease on the 17th, tracking broken until today and it's finally out for delivery... now I can get the mountain bike back together just in time for the rain
11:12 AM Tom_L: waterproof?
11:13 AM Tom_L: i used to get that blue waterproof stuff
11:14 AM jthornton: yea waterproof

12:43 PM Loetmichel: jymmmm: we tried. 20 minutes with an oxy/acetylene torch to get the other side of 12mm PC weak enough to push thru.
12:44 PM Loetmichel: dont think that road flare will run that long or be as hot ;)
12:44 PM Loetmichel: polycarbonate is SO bad at heat conducting that it burns on the outside and you can touch the inside for quite a while ;)
01:53 PM unterhaus_: bios update has confusing instructions. format flash drive with fat32 and set the [Boot Mode] to "Win8 UEFI"
01:53 PM unterhaus_: The PC will boot to the UEFI Shell Command mode
01:55 PM unterhaus_: I suppose it would seem less confusing if I knew anything about uefi
02:01 PM Rab: Everything I have learned about UEFI has left me more confused.
02:07 PM net|: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pv3Z0FuVniS5IIoKVfAw-P5_Y76CXbfH 1.2gb royalty free soundfx sonniss.com 25gb archive converted to ogg format
02:17 PM unterhaus_: okay, it turns out the problem with the rtai kernel I have shows up when it tries to start xwindows. Last thing I see is the mint login in text and then the monitor is not being driven
02:17 PM unterhaus_: but shift f1 doesn't get me back to a terminal, so it seems like this is bad
02:20 PM unterhaus_: previously it seems like it didn't have uefi boot configured in the kernel
02:22 PM Tom_L: well i can't get mine to compile
02:29 PM Deejay: hi
02:33 PM unterhaus_: Tom_L fails somewhere in the compile?
02:34 PM unterhaus_: I guess I can't install this and fix it in place because I can't get that far
02:35 PM unterhaus_: are there rtai kernel packages somewhere?
02:56 PM Tom_L: yeah
02:57 PM Tom_L: https://github.com/NTULINUX/RTAI/releases
02:57 PM Tom_L: build that off one of the kernel packages in the patches folder
02:58 PM Tom_L: get them here: https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v4.x/
02:58 PM Tom_L: readme.install will help
03:08 PM skunkworks: i think now you see the stepper resolution as the vertical lines change in spacing..
03:09 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20200426_112519.jpg
03:21 PM Tom_L: still looks pretty good
03:24 PM unterhaus_: skunkworks, you think that's the x/y resolution?
03:30 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: it is mainly visual.. i dont think you can feel them
03:30 PM unterhaus_: it looks great, it's not like the sides of the bolt heads are going to care what it looks like
03:30 PM Tom_L: cameras always make things look worse
03:30 PM unterhaus_: cosmetics are a pita. I made something with a little structural vibration in the part and it looked horrible.
03:30 PM skunkworks: you can see the cut change as the rake angle changes
03:30 PM unterhaus_: it was for measuring something that was much worse than the chatter artifacts, so it didn't matter, but it was embarrassing
03:30 PM Tom_L: it's as smooth as these if not better: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/Speedhandle2.jpg
03:30 PM unterhaus_: Tom_L those are machined the old-fashioned way I take it?
03:44 PM Deejay: gn8
03:44 PM Tom_L: buy
04:15 PM TurBoss1 is now known as TurBoss
05:36 PM Tom_L: quiet day
06:10 PM jthornton: busy with plants and getting ready for the new chicks to arrive
06:11 PM Tom_L: hope their new habitat is up to their standards!
06:12 PM jthornton: it's the finest one can make with internet and music
06:12 PM Tom_L: gonna give the kernel one more go after bit
06:12 PM jthornton: I might try in the morning, what pc are you using
06:12 PM Tom_L: my main one, a gigabyte i5
06:13 PM Tom_L: if it's a go i'll try it on one of the asrock mb
06:14 PM Tom_L: not knowing the settings needed doesn't help
06:14 PM jthornton: I hear that
06:14 PM Tom_L: looking over the config file did more good than anything
06:14 PM jthornton: we have heavy rain with thunderstorms tomorrow night
06:15 PM Tom_L: 40% chance around 4pm
06:15 PM Tom_L: pretty nice today
06:16 PM Tom_L: andypugh, i'm gonna try the rtai you did. the other complained about ipipe too much
06:16 PM Tom_L: and i don't know how to get around it if it's possible
06:16 PM andypugh: ipipe is all about a kernel patch, I think.
06:16 PM jthornton: not bad here either, got more tomato plants out of the house and into the ground
06:16 PM jthornton: some are 4' tall and loaded with tomatoes
06:17 PM SpeedEvil: yay
06:17 PM Tom_L: i wouldn't know where to apply the patch
06:17 PM Tom_L: jthornton, that's pretty early for tomatoes
06:17 PM jthornton: very early here for sure
06:17 PM jthornton: I have one that is getting ripe on the vine
06:18 PM Tom_L: don't let the critters get it
06:18 PM jthornton: I put them in the ground a month ago and had to cover them and use light bulbs on cold nights
06:19 PM jthornton: I think the cold nights have passed but I'll cover them for heavy rain
07:25 PM Tom_L: over 1k employees of meat processing plants tested + causing over 15 plants to shut down
07:25 PM unterhaus_: Tom_L there's no ipipe patch for v5 kernels anyway
07:26 PM Tom_L: k
07:26 PM unterhaus_: Tyson was complaining about being forced to close, I figure at some point there wouldn't be workers anyway
07:26 PM unterhaus_: Tom_L dunno what to do about that?
07:27 PM Tom_L: go on a diet?
07:27 PM Tom_L: it's gonna be a mess
07:27 PM unterhaus_: are we using a xenomai kernel?
07:28 PM unterhaus_: sorry, dunno what we are going to do about the patch. Going on a rice and beans diet
07:28 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure about the kernel
07:28 PM Tom_L: i'm building one atm
09:15 PM skunkworks: Hmm - would making a d-shaped hole make people faint? ;)
09:18 PM Tom_L: start making wheel locks
