03:04 AM XXCoder: 500 usd at alixpress lol
03:07 AM XXCoder: much cheaper on amazon
03:32 AM Loetmichel: mornin'
03:33 AM XXCoder: yo
03:35 AM Loetmichel: maan, 2.5 hours into work, made 3 lines in CAD... the crux of wearing a dozen hats... hat do advise the coworkers, do an inventory for the new order, clear some delivery issues with the boss... sometimes i whish i would have only work for two persons, not for 6
03:43 AM XXCoder: car racing, post-covid. https://youtu.be/7D-FHaaShvM
04:28 AM andi_: is there a linuxcnc simulation in a docker container
05:26 AM Deejay: hi
05:51 AM jthornton: morning
06:20 AM empireages: Hi all
06:21 AM empireages: If you have some time, can you check my tutorial in the Documents section of the forum ? Thanks
06:48 AM gregcnc: xxcoder, not sure what kid of car racing you're into, but marbles aren't going to cut it https://youtu.be/95rJKCMPkgs
06:51 AM Tom_L: morning
06:52 AM gregcnc: wow crude oil is at a 12USD
07:03 AM Tom_L: they say we may see gas under a buck before this is over
07:03 AM p0g0: It already is in some midwest states, according to the newspapers.
07:03 AM Tom_L: $1.33 here
07:04 AM gregcnc: our taxes are so high we won't get below 1$
07:04 AM p0g0: It'll be the death of fracking too, something I think might accelerate the electric and hybrid car market.
07:04 AM gregcnc: cheap gas will make electric viable?
07:04 AM Tom_L: fracking has been causing quakes anyway
07:05 AM p0g0: As someone who has had their well trashed by frackers, I won't miss them.
07:05 AM Tom_L: after it's over, gas will probably skyrocket again
07:06 AM p0g0: gregcnc, I think the loss of fracking will, in the longer run, make for an interval where cheap gas is transient, then likely gone for a long while.
07:06 AM gregcnc: depends if they decide to shut production
07:07 AM p0g0: The fracking industry is seriously debt burdoned, and that may make future re-investment less likely, as they are now going bankrupt at a pretty good clip.
07:07 AM p0g0: Burning a bank tends to make them leery.
07:07 AM gregcnc: big oil will just buy them up
07:08 AM p0g0: They may, but again, there is now an interval where car tech may get to change some.
07:08 AM gregcnc: now or 10-20 years from now?
07:09 AM p0g0: So, yeah, immediately, gas is cheap, but travel os way down.
07:09 AM p0g0: So not a lot of market for new cars, compared to the pst.
07:10 AM p0g0: The 2 odd years where we wait for vaccines suggests travel will remain low.
07:10 AM gregcnc: oh, right
07:10 AM p0g0: So, seeing a price rise for gas, that's a cue to consider the inevitable, hybrids and electrics.
07:10 AM gregcnc: this weekend any place that was open was packed
07:11 AM p0g0: hmm, the national rates in the US are down 30% anyway.
07:12 AM p0g0: I can't say that they are packed here, but this is not a populated area either.
07:14 AM p0g0: I have read that the largest rise in crime in the US is car theft, so maybe that will drive a bit of market for new cars, for those insured against theft.
07:14 AM gregcnc: people have to have money to buy them and they don't
07:15 AM p0g0: But I am pretty sure that with so many newly impoverished, cars are not a growing market.
07:15 AM p0g0: At least not like it was.
07:15 AM gregcnc: it wasn't before, record late auto payments
07:16 AM p0g0: hmm, being in debt now just flat sux.
07:16 AM gregcnc: it always does, but our economy is based on it
07:17 AM p0g0: But I also wonder, aside from gathering more assets, what the banks will do- they can foreclose, but then what? The value of the assets have tanked, so would they be better off stringing along, and going for the late debt when there is a means to pay?
07:17 AM gregcnc: that's what happened after 2008
07:18 AM p0g0: Yeah, and this will be a longer haul I think.
07:18 AM gregcnc: depends how many businesses just fold up comlpletely and how log they attempt to drag this out
07:18 AM p0g0: So, consolidation of wealth, already a massive mistake, that may be the outcome.
07:19 AM p0g0: But when so much capital is in so few hands, the scale of mistakes they make nails the nation.
07:20 AM p0g0: That may still be OK for the deeply pocketed, but for the rest, more bad news.
07:20 AM gregcnc: deeply pocketed are always OK?
07:20 AM p0g0: hmm, not always.
07:21 AM gregcnc: if "deeply pocketed" and paycheck to paycheck, you made choices
07:21 AM p0g0: The Lloyd's backers took big hits, the California insurance industry lost 25 years of profits in the last two from wildfires...
07:22 AM p0g0: There are a lot of overleaveraged folks too, and if they have their debts called in when their asset value tanked, they are likely in deep shit.
07:22 AM gregcnc: fun to have money to burn
07:24 AM p0g0: Well, life is not so dangerous or uncomfortable, for sure. As best I can tell the mental state needed to be that myopic is pretty vulnerable to failure- they may be unhappy, in spite of having $.
07:24 AM gregcnc: completely unrelated to money
07:24 AM p0g0: hmm, money is their metric, it is the markings on their scales.
07:25 AM p0g0: Have you ever had an economics class that talked about the phrase "marginal utility" ?
07:26 AM p0g0: The notion that if you have 10$ and I give you a dollar, it is more valubale than if you have 10,000 and I give you a dollar?
07:27 AM p0g0: That sense of utility seems to not connect for some folks.
07:27 AM p0g0: They see their 10,000 dollar as just as valuable.
07:27 AM p0g0: So, more is never enough.
07:28 AM gregcnc: yeah, they are isolated in their 10M homes while many are stuck in 2 room apts, cry me a river
07:29 AM p0g0: My point is that they have different motives, and things that wouldn't be meaningful to me and thee might be meaningful to them.
07:30 AM p0g0: I am not expecting sympathy for them, and I don't think they expect it either.
07:30 AM gregcnc: doesn't change that they will not have to worry about basic needs
07:30 AM p0g0: that is certainly true.
07:30 AM gregcnc: unles their 10+ waitstaff can't come to the house anymore
07:32 AM p0g0: It is a different world in some ways. But not in others- I had a client that married into 90 million, she was an interesting and aggressive person, but all that wealth was in some ways tedious- keeping all the houses, where to travel to next... but what really mattered to her was the same things that most are about- her kids and their happiness.
07:32 AM gregcnc: enter warren buffet
07:33 AM p0g0: And all that money was trouble to a degree too, their individual weaknesses got amplified, fatally in one case.
07:33 AM gregcnc: all choices
07:34 AM p0g0: Just saying that they are not as foreign to the common world and common experiences as it might seem.
07:34 AM gregcnc: i read about that stuff, to me it's mind boggling, but once you have to compare yourself to others of that class.....
07:55 AM jymmmm: This is rough, poor lil dude... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKoO18-3yL8
07:56 AM jymmmm: good morning
07:57 AM sensille: "The uploader has not made this video available in your country"

01:00 PM unterhaus: for some reason, my 2011 computer has a 2005 video card in it
01:01 PM unterhaus: quad core xeon has reasonably good latency numbers. Wonder what they would be like with isolcpu
01:04 PM gregcnc: May oil is basically zero now
01:13 PM XXCoder: geez
01:13 PM gregcnc: i wonder how many contracts are for actual delivery at this point and how many were paper trades that didn't get out
01:13 PM XXCoder: here gas is actually below 2 dollars a gallon now
01:13 PM gregcnc: gas is steady
01:14 PM XXCoder: most of centeral usa is under $1 now I think
01:14 PM XXCoder: wa has bunh of taxes on gas so its always been higher
01:16 PM Tom_L: average is $1.33, low is $1.25 here
01:25 PM gregcnc: there must be absolutely nowhere to store oil, it's Negative $3.70
01:26 PM Tom_L: barrel?
01:26 PM XXCoder: that low yeserday? i recall watching news yeserday and it was $15 a barrel
01:27 PM gregcnc: https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/future/crude%20oil%20-%20electronic
01:28 PM gregcnc: today is settlement day. if holding a contract at close you have to take delivery
01:28 PM XXCoder: wow crazy
03:47 PM Deejay: gn8
05:52 PM Thorhian: pcw_home: I was trying to synthesize hostmot2 in vivado however it is saying that "to_integer is not declared" in mux1.vhd. Would you happen to know what might be wrong?
06:03 PM perry_j1987: hows it going guys
06:04 PM perry_j1987: i got a couple of these https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-E350N-rev-10#ov boards with that amd e350 processsor.
06:05 PM perry_j1987: getting 40,000 + jitter
06:06 PM jthornton: not bad for a Mesa card
06:09 PM Tom_L: perry_j1987, did you turn off hyperthread in the bios?
06:09 PM jthornton: I filled up for $0.78 today at Kroger
06:09 PM Tom_L: used your points
06:09 PM jthornton: yup
06:09 PM perry_j1987: hyperthread is only on intel procs
06:09 PM Tom_L: i could fill 2 up at QT for .020
06:10 PM Tom_L: but i'm saving it
06:10 PM Tom_L: kroger expires per month?
06:10 PM Tom_L: QT lasts a year
06:10 PM jthornton: yea
06:10 PM jthornton: wow
06:10 PM Tom_L: from purchase date
06:10 PM jthornton: max $1 off
06:10 PM Tom_L: so it's a rolling date
06:10 PM Tom_L: i get free tanks every so often
06:10 PM jthornton: max 35 gallons too
06:10 PM Tom_L: no limit
06:10 PM Tom_L: max 20 gal
06:11 PM Tom_L: then if i don't use all my points i can use it again
06:11 PM jthornton: when I have a $1 off I bring gas cans and get all 35 gallons
06:11 PM Tom_L: i'm up to about $3-4 per right now
06:11 PM jthornton: no QT near here
06:11 PM Tom_L: about a tank and half
06:11 PM Tom_L: i love their rewards
06:12 PM perry_j1987: its .93cents gallon up around the wisconsin dells area now
06:12 PM Tom_L: it only works in KS though
06:12 PM Tom_L: we go to ok or Ga and the points don't work
06:12 PM Tom_L: they alwasy smile when i walk in and give em a couple dimes
06:13 PM Tom_L: i collect kroger/dillons points but never use em
06:15 PM jthornton: we get our scripts at kroger so I usually get a $1 off once a month
06:15 PM Tom_L: been trying to figure out how to program cutter comp in my cad cam. i've never used it
06:15 PM Tom_L: better than a poke with a sharp stick for sure
06:16 PM Tom_L: with 4 driving it adds up fairly quick
06:16 PM Tom_L: haven't been doing much of that lately though
06:17 PM jthornton: not much change in driving here but no long trips for sure
06:18 PM jthornton: local nursery owner told me today he has sold 50,000 tomato plants so far and is in his third setting
06:19 PM Tom_L: wow
06:19 PM jthornton: I picked up some jalapeno plants that were only seed leaves
06:20 PM perry_j1987: wow
06:20 PM jthornton: he didn't have a lot of plants
06:20 PM perry_j1987: what was he selling the tomato plants for?
06:20 PM perry_j1987: how much
06:20 PM jthornton: $1 for 6 in small containers
06:21 PM jthornton: a whole flat of anything in small containers is $10
06:21 PM jthornton: I even returned a couple of flats to him today lol
06:30 PM Tom_L: jthornton, you ever use cutter comp in your mill files?
06:33 PM Tom_L: looking it over i think it just as easy to fudge the tool diameter instead of using comp since i always program the tool center
