12:57 AM _unreal_: pcw_mesa, ordered
02:49 AM Deejay: moin
06:07 AM jthornton: morning
06:09 AM XXCoder: hey
06:09 AM XXCoder: just read about india
06:09 AM XXCoder: sad, they had to close villages total 40,000 people because of one guy
06:09 AM XXCoder: and he went to big covetation before he died too
06:10 AM XXCoder: hope none hits their most dense cities
06:17 AM rmu|w: XXCoder: do you know clickspring youtube channel?
06:17 AM XXCoder: yep
06:17 AM XXCoder: hes still working on publishing
06:17 AM rmu|w: looks like that's the guy with the microscribe
06:17 AM XXCoder: then he can finally return to making videos.
06:17 AM XXCoder: no, thats another guy
06:18 AM rmu|w: ok
06:20 AM jthornton: US jumped 20k cases since yesterday
06:20 AM XXCoder: its from clickspring discard tho yes
07:00 AM Tom_L: morning
07:08 AM jthornton: morning
07:20 AM jymmmm: morning
07:22 AM jymmmm: jthornton: did they say where was the most?
07:25 AM tjtr33: I just built a new rip on debian 9. runtests fails 13 times
07:25 AM tjtr33: https://pastebin.com/8Zf9iqDD
07:25 AM tjtr33: any suggestions?
07:30 AM jymmmm: anyone rememebr the link to the corona map?
07:30 AM Tom_L: you can find it
07:32 AM Tom_L: https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
07:32 AM Tom_L: that?
07:33 AM jymmmm: yep, thanks
07:33 AM jthornton: https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
07:34 AM jymmmm: WTF infection even HIGHER now, than before the lockdown
07:34 AM Tom_L: incubation period
07:34 AM jymmmm: per the graph they show
07:34 AM jymmmm: Tom_L Ah, ok
07:36 AM jymmmm: I'm just wearing gloves in public now
07:40 AM tjtr33: welcome to the Blue Hand Group
07:41 AM jymmmm: haha, I just tossed a box in the car
07:42 AM unterhaus_: you should probably wear a mask
07:43 AM jymmmm: Even a bandana would help, I have a P95 half mask
07:46 AM unterhaus_: if nothing else, you can't touch your face
07:47 AM jymmmm: I can't even smell bleach when wearing it, so I'm good in that respect.
08:06 AM jymmmm: I have a shower faucet leaking, but can't find ANY marking on it of who made it to either get a rebuild kit or replacement. any suggestions?
08:40 AM SpeedEvil: I suppose 'CNC a replacement' is cheating?
08:40 AM SpeedEvil: Have you dismantled it yet?
08:52 AM jymmmm: I have access to the rear of the faucet , no havne't taken anything apart yet
09:11 AM unterhaus_: I have noticed that shower controls are weirdly absent of markings.
09:11 AM unterhaus_: probably have to take the control out and find it at the store
09:12 AM unterhaus_: lowe's used to have a wide selection of valves
09:16 AM p0g0: unterhaus_, last time I had to replace the guts of a shower valve, it seemed like there was some standardization, it wasn't hard to find the right part.
09:16 AM p0g0: But yes, I had to take the valve guts with me to the hardware store.
10:24 AM Tom_L: jymmmm, take it apart and go to ACE
10:24 AM Tom_L: they may have a match
10:25 AM Tom_L: (drive thru of course :) )
10:33 AM unterhaus_: do people still build 3d printers?
10:34 AM Tom_L: 3d printers build 3d printers
10:34 AM Tom_L: wasn't that why they were created?
10:38 AM p0g0: unterhaus_, #reprap, yes people build them often. They also spend a lot of time getting them to work well.
10:40 AM jymmmm: Tom_L They are cemented in, I have to cut the pipes (CPVC) to remove it. hardware store is 50 miles round trip, and may not have the right one. And not a lot of places carry CPVC these days
10:41 AM Rab: jymmmm, the faucet, or the valve?
10:41 AM jymmmm: same thing
10:41 AM jymmmm: it's a single handle shower faucet
10:43 AM Rab: jymmmm, often the valve cartridge can be removed from the user side. Have you removed the handle and trim to see if that's possible?
10:43 AM Rab: Once the cartridge is out, you might be able to identify it.
10:45 AM jymmmm: Rab: Maybe, but I've never seen markings on a cartdige itself.
10:46 AM _unreal_: pcw_mesa, order is in
10:46 AM _unreal_: put it in last night
10:47 AM _unreal_: Rab, I built a filter last night very similar to this https://www.vishnumaiea.in/projects/hardware/diy-surge-protector-line-filter
10:48 AM _unreal_: The only thing I have not done That I totally forgot about when drawing the pcb was adding the resistor.
10:49 AM t4nk_freenode: noone's gonna notice that man, don't worry :)
10:49 AM t4nk_freenode: it's just a stupid resistor anyhow!
10:49 AM _unreal_: plugged it in to test. everything was great. set it down after unplugging on something metal. MASSIVE spark :)
10:49 AM t4nk_freenode: see?
10:54 AM t4nk_freenode: why use a resistor to discharge those caps.. when you have a perfectly fine metal table I say
10:54 AM t4nk_freenode: or a forehead
10:54 AM JavaBean: just lick your fingers before touching it, as a perk this method cleans atleast part of your fingers
10:55 AM t4nk_freenode: yeah, like putting out a cigarette
10:56 AM JavaBean: meh, its just as easy to pop out the cherry and toss the "butt" into the nearest trash receptical
10:57 AM t4nk_freenode: nah, I've worked the butts into the neighbour's dog's diet over the past year or so
10:57 AM t4nk_freenode: barking has reduced significantly
10:58 AM jymmmm: ... butt dog coughing has increased
10:58 AM t4nk_freenode: has troubles running up the stairs too
10:59 AM jymmmm: run off at the mouth instead, much easier
11:00 AM jymmmm: rab SpeedEvil https://i.imgur.com/f4yQzKQ.jpg
11:00 AM Tom_L: jymmmm, if you can't identify it maybe opt for a new faucet that you can?
11:01 AM Tom_L: seems you gotta cut it out anyway
11:03 AM jymmmm: Tom_L Heck, I don't even know what that brass to cpvc fitting it they are using
11:04 AM jymmmm: I've just never replaced or seen shower faucets before
11:05 AM jymmmm: are they all about the same?
11:05 AM Tom_L: they vary quite a bit
11:05 AM jymmmm: Yeah, that's what I figured
11:05 AM Tom_L: 1 or 2 handle vs scald tech vs not
11:06 AM jymmmm: I'd MUCH rather get a rebuild kit for this instead, but cnat identify it
11:07 AM Tom_L: install the google app on your phone to identify it. see how it does?
11:07 AM jymmmm: lol
11:07 AM Tom_L: she put it on hers and played with it a bit
11:07 AM Tom_L: it _is_ a thing
11:07 AM jymmmm: what app?
11:07 AM Tom_L: hang on
11:08 AM Tom_L: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.ar.lens&hl=en_US
11:10 AM Tom_L: i'd be surprised / amazed if it did it :)
11:11 AM jymmmm: This app is incompatible with all of your devices.
11:11 AM Tom_L: :(
11:54 AM Rab: jymmmm, again, I would try to remove the cartridge. Even if there are no markings, a combination of measurement and visual identification ought to narrow it down.
11:56 AM Rab: E.g. a Google image search for "shower valve cartridge". Once you narrow it down to a mfg e.g. Kohler, Grohe, thread measurements should take you the rest of the way.
11:58 AM Rab: And unless you live in a fancy house with custom/exotic fixtures, it's probably generic Home Depot from 20 years ago...not particularly exotic.
11:58 AM Rab: With luck, just the o-rings are worn out and you can service it with standard rings.
12:14 PM jymmmm: Rab: good idea, thanks. I just wish I could "cap off" the valve so I can leave the water on for the rest of the house.
12:15 PM unterhaus_: it's a bit weird what does and doesn't have shutoff valves
12:16 PM jymmmm: Rab: I can't even remove that valve without cutting something.
12:17 PM jymmmm: unterhaus_: showers appeartanly
12:23 PM _unreal_: ok floor has been mopped
12:23 PM _unreal_: taz hate mopping
12:37 PM Rab: jymmmm, yeah, I've had two shower valves start leaking (older houses, pre-PVC) and it's a pain. If you are really motivated, you could cut back the PVC and put in ball valves; they're cheap.
12:38 PM Rab: Assuming plumbing fixtures can be obtained in this time of travail.
12:38 PM SpeedEvil: What do you do for showering the other parts?
12:38 PM _unreal_: There done. just did the I dont want to task
12:38 PM jymmmm: Rab: Yeah, if I cut anything, valves ARE going in, good idea.
12:39 PM _unreal_: just put all of my isolators behind the opamps and 7805's
12:39 PM Rab: SpeedEvil, a petcock obvi.
12:39 PM _unreal_: On my motor controllers
12:39 PM _unreal_: NOW I can safely power it
12:39 PM jymmmm: Rab, is there any "flex lines" that I could install as well so that in the future dont' have to CUT a nything?
12:41 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, what kind of a flex line?
12:41 PM _unreal_: usesage?
12:41 PM _unreal_: ussage
12:41 PM _unreal_: omg
12:41 PM _unreal_: usage
12:44 PM jymmmm: Rab: like that pic I should, those fittings are glued in, have to be cut to work on anything.
12:45 PM Rab: jymmmm, look into PEX. It's pretty much completely supplanted PVC for new construction, around here.
12:45 PM jymmmm: Rab, $400 for the tool. Plus still would have to be cut to repair
12:46 PM jymmmm: Oh, maybe I could use toilet flex lines????????
12:48 PM Rab: Oh, I see what you're asking (although Home Depot has a PEX crimper for <$100). I dunno about toilet lines, the o-rings seem like they'll degrade eventually. Leakage on the user side is a nuisance, but leakage inside the walls can be catastrophic.
12:49 PM Rab: If you had a PEX whip several feet long, e.g. up into the attic, there should be enough flex for future service.
12:50 PM Tom_L: jymmmm, the tool isn't $400
12:50 PM Tom_L: i got one from Menards
12:50 PM jymmmm: Rab Yeah, I'll install petcock valves if I cut the cpvc
12:50 PM flyback: BMCC
12:50 PM Rab: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Homewerks-Worldwide-1-2-in-PVC-Sch-40-Slip-Joint-x-Slip-Joint-Ball-Valve-VBVP40E3B/202370031
12:51 PM flyback: what are you using pvc for
12:51 PM flyback: it's very brittle
12:51 PM flyback: also if this is for outside use grey pvc
12:51 PM jymmmm: Rab cpvc 1/2"
12:52 PM jymmmm: rab the valves are brass
12:53 PM jymmmm: Rab the valves I know, the flex lines I don't lol
12:53 PM Tom_L: i used a short piece of pex when i had to re'do my tub faucet to copper
12:53 PM flyback: mmm pex
12:53 PM flyback: pex owns your "canuck"
12:53 PM Tom_L: was just easier in the small access space i had
12:53 PM * flyback tazers rue_mohr
12:54 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, there is PEX there is 15mm (same thing as pex slightly different diam and cheaper) there is PVC. many options.
12:54 PM rue_mohr: no I'm playing dead.
12:55 PM Tom_L: which one has the most outgassing to poison your water supply?
12:55 PM flyback: eh-hole!
12:55 PM flyback: :P
12:55 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, ahh hehee prob. copper
12:55 PM _unreal_: depending on the water quality
12:55 PM _unreal_: ;)
12:55 PM flyback: pex beats copper
12:55 PM flyback: if it freezes
12:55 PM Tom_L: copper kills bacteria
12:56 PM _unreal_: He's got a brass 4way in the photo
12:56 PM Rab: Tom_L, you just need hard enough water to shield the toxins with healthful mineral deposits.
12:56 PM _unreal_: and looks like "true blue" was used for sealent, one of my Faves
12:57 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, I would not use PVC flex line on pottable water
12:57 PM _unreal_: Your choice but I was NOT reccomend it
12:58 PM flyback: yeahh I wouldn't either
12:58 PM flyback: they have to nasty shit into pvc to make it flexable
12:58 PM _unreal_: hose water
12:59 PM jym: Well, I was thinking SS lines
01:00 PM jym: but I guess they dont exist
01:01 PM Rab: https://www.bigbrandwater.com/Stainless-Steel-Flex-LinesWater-Connectors_c_2964.html
01:02 PM jym: Isn't there a brand that of plumbing fixtures that uses a "teardrop" shaped handle?
01:03 PM jym: holy crap $50 EACH?!
01:03 PM jym: oh nm, that's 1.5" not 0.5"
01:10 PM _unreal_: There My support brackets are on
01:41 PM _unreal_: Ok my pcb has now been designed for my power breakout
01:48 PM _unreal_: not much going on I guess
01:53 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20200328_133410.jpg
01:57 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20200328_133433.jpg
01:58 PM Rab: skunkworks, nice! How thick is that stock?
02:00 PM skunkworks: only 1/8 inch
02:00 PM skunkworks: first try in something harder than plastic.
02:04 PM Rab: Did you get a reasonable finish at the bottom, before the tool cut through?
02:05 PM gregcnc: how big did you drill?
02:06 PM skunkworks: I wasn't really watching... I could do the program in thicker aluminum..
02:07 PM skunkworks: rab - My feeling is that the finish would be fine. You could also pull back (make the hex smaller) at the bottom to make sure it was flat.
02:08 PM skunkworks: You can really see the spindle encoder resolution..
02:08 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20200328_140150.jpg
02:09 PM skunkworks: made cool shavings.. mostly continuous..
02:10 PM skunkworks: gregcnc: the hole was .436
02:14 PM Tom_L: nice one skunkworks
02:15 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, I'm waiting for you to do a tear trop
02:15 PM _unreal_: drop
02:16 PM skunkworks: this component only does polygons..
02:16 PM * _unreal_ is humming away getting controllers put together
02:16 PM Tom_L: _unreal_, he's not really using 'gcode' rather a hal component to generate it
02:16 PM _unreal_: Just finished drawing my power breakout board for the +v 0v -v
02:17 PM _unreal_: I know
02:17 PM _unreal_: still an arc
02:21 PM _unreal_: I now have all 3 built motor controllers finished aside from adding wires
02:21 PM _unreal_: but thats just putting wires into connectors
02:23 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, ready to try a torx head now?
02:35 PM jym: Cool combination lock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRgurx00G1o
02:39 PM oliv is now known as Guest48992
02:42 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: ugh.
03:10 PM gregcnc: there are tooling limitations
03:11 PM gregcnc: besides you can just mill torx, even if you have to use tiny mills
03:39 PM skunkworks: https://youtu.be/C0Wz8vnFAQU
03:45 PM jym: Anyone interested in a scalpel folding knife?
03:46 PM jym: https://www.knifecountryusa.com/shop/manufacturer/product-group/18598/havalon-piranta-knife-series.html
03:47 PM jym: Uses a #60 blade
03:49 PM jym: Rab: SpeedEvil I think I found it, made by moen, they are closed today, but should be able to send out a replacement cartridge under their lifetime warranty, I'll call monday to find out
03:49 PM SpeedEvil: yay
03:50 PM jym: SpeedEvil: no doubt =)
03:51 PM _unreal_: jym, I dought the will be open monday
03:51 PM jym: why?
03:52 PM _unreal_: remember instead of mardi gra its vireaaa
03:52 PM * _unreal_ chuckles all by him self
03:52 PM jym: uh huh
03:54 PM _unreal_: sad thing is its probable
03:55 PM _unreal_: right now I'm torn
03:55 PM _unreal_: dont know if I want to etch or mill a PCB
03:55 PM Tom_L: gregcnc, i was somewhat kidding :)
03:57 PM jym: Oh crap, there's another old mfg "Valley Faucet" it might be, fudge
03:57 PM _unreal_: well I think I'm going to go to the sprint store
03:57 PM _unreal_: get my free 10" tablet
03:58 PM _unreal_: then go online and close the second account :)
03:58 PM _unreal_: and change my debet card as well while I'm there
04:15 PM SpeedEvil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyIsLx4RJs8 Interview with Ian Lipkin who currently has covid-19. (Advisor to the movie Contagion, and one of the people deeply involved with chinese epidemiology of the outbreak)
04:23 PM jthornton: well the rain has started... no more chicken construction today
04:25 PM * jym envisions chickens wearing hard hats
04:27 PM flyback: where are you jthornton
04:27 PM flyback: there's some severe storm/tornado areas today
04:27 PM flyback: even our house alarm send a tornado warning
04:27 PM jthornton: Swamp East Missouri
04:28 PM flyback: hmm
04:28 PM flyback: I dunno how that area is right now
04:28 PM jthornton: there is some warnings near Jonesboro Ar
04:28 PM flyback: pa here
04:29 PM jthornton: right now it's just a light rain, other chicken ranchers to the west of the state got some golf ball sized hail
04:34 PM p0g0: Noaa (weather.gov) is showing a tornado box at jonesboro, windy.com has some similar reports.
04:38 PM unterhaus_: we've been having thunderstorms all day. Didn't know the little dog was afraid of thunder, but she's definitely having a bad day
04:40 PM jym: unterhaus_: Puppy Prozac?
05:13 PM * jthornton checks the radar again
05:30 PM Deejay: gn8
05:35 PM _unreal_: its freaking hot here
05:35 PM _unreal_: have not had rain in 3 weeks now
05:44 PM flyback: dude
05:44 PM flyback: missori dude
05:44 PM flyback: you got tornado warnings
05:44 PM flyback: jthornton, you got tornado warnings
05:45 PM JavaBean: spin me right round let a record right round?
05:47 PM jthornton: no, not here
05:48 PM jthornton: a bit southeast of us
05:48 PM jthornton: it actually quit raining here
05:48 PM jthornton: tornado warnings are northeast of Jonesboro
05:49 PM XXCoder: hey jt just saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77Y7DHfoFOk hes making some weird box air mover (not box fan) but whats interesting is how he made it move around very silently
05:49 PM XXCoder: well I assume silently, not something I can prove it is or otherwise.
05:51 PM * jthornton checks his usage even though I have a 15GB hot spot on my phone now
05:51 PM Tom_L: mmm showing clear here
05:51 PM Tom_L: cloudy and cooler most of the day
05:51 PM * JavaBean thanks jthornton for the reminder
05:52 PM _unreal_: ve7it, how goes it?
05:52 PM _unreal_: I'm building my serial data interface right now
05:52 PM ve7it: cool
05:52 PM Tom_L: to interface with what?
05:52 PM * JavaBean is at 4.42gb
05:52 PM _unreal_: just got parts I need for setting up the rest of the power suply I hope I got everything
05:52 PM _unreal_: I even found bleach
05:53 PM _unreal_: dollar store of all places
05:53 PM Tom_L: nobody thinks to check there
05:53 PM jthornton: I'm at 5.9GB so wow lots left for the last few days
05:53 PM Tom_L: time to party!
05:53 PM _unreal_: jthornton, thats enough for some good porn viewing
05:53 PM JavaBean: i got more than 3 weeks left
05:54 PM _unreal_: to live?
05:54 PM jthornton: XXCoder, a bit too much trying to be an actor and way too much finger and hand pointing to be serious
05:54 PM XXCoder: yeah hes not the reason i shared link :)
05:55 PM JavaBean: on my dataplan... its "unlimited" so there is no telling when it will get throttled, especially since its my only internet access
05:55 PM XXCoder: check out the final version of his movement system. pretty cool.
05:55 PM * jthornton fast forwards to see the final product
05:55 PM _unreal_: oh oh ? I think my soldering iron just shit the bed?
05:56 PM jthornton: the magnetic coupling run by water is cool
05:56 PM JavaBean: i thought only 3dprinters could "shit the bed", soldering irons melt down
05:56 PM XXCoder: im not too sure if its water or materinal oikl
05:57 PM XXCoder: and yeah. its silent I assume and its not even touching each other, coupling via pure magnetic fields
05:57 PM jthornton: yea some fluid
05:59 PM _unreal_: great I'm reduced to a 15watt
05:59 PM XXCoder: i really like his limit switches too
05:59 PM XXCoder: magnetic trigger
05:59 PM XXCoder: and its made to be adjustable in position
06:00 PM jthornton: it does make a bit of sound but different than a fan
06:00 PM XXCoder: any from motion system rather than air movements?
06:01 PM jthornton: yea all from the motion
06:01 PM XXCoder: interesting. whats annoyance factor of those vs fan?
06:02 PM jthornton: it's probably more annoying than a normal fan due to you not having a direct flow
06:03 PM jthornton: not to mention the complexity of it lol
06:03 PM XXCoder: interesting. I wonder what uses the movement system can be used in though lol
06:03 PM XXCoder: its basically immune to being broken by blocking moving element
06:03 PM XXCoder: just realign and off it goes
06:13 PM _unreal_: ve7it, ok just got my serial adapter interface more or less put togeather
06:13 PM jthornton: wow multiple tornado warnings southeast of us
06:14 PM _unreal_: just a PERF board with dual headers so I can bring them all of the serial interfaces to a single location and plug into xyzA easy
06:14 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I ordered the 7i96
06:14 PM _unreal_: pcw_mesa, you ship my shit yet ;)
06:14 PM jthornton: I would have shipped today
06:15 PM JavaBean: jthornton https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/691398837373239326/693596753290723338/image0.png
06:15 PM _unreal_: I mean I did order at midnight after all :)
06:15 PM XXCoder: geez
06:16 PM XXCoder: chickens is good long term food source though
06:16 PM jthornton: not sure I understand that...
06:16 PM jthornton: don't kill the goose that lays golden eggs...
06:16 PM _unreal_: ordering at midnight or chickens?
06:16 PM XXCoder: jt reply is impiling tp and chickens is used same way
06:17 PM _unreal_: My father use to raise rabbits
06:17 PM _unreal_: for slaughter
06:17 PM jthornton: they would never stand for that even with a dirty fuzzy butt they have sometimes
06:17 PM gregcnc: how did they taste?
06:17 PM _unreal_: and when he moved 30 years ago out of the country he let them all go
06:18 PM XXCoder: may I suggest alternate use for tp you stockpiled too high: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-mWK_kcZMs
06:18 PM jthornton: china has slipped to #3 in the confirmed cases
06:18 PM _unreal_: hehe the home town in that area has a high population of fuzzy pet like looking wild rabbits
06:18 PM XXCoder: yep. and usa is ... winning
06:18 PM jthornton: not sure I want to be on the winning team
06:19 PM _unreal_: jthornton, I highly doubt china tells the trouth
06:19 PM jthornton: Missouri is bringing out the National Guard to assist
06:19 PM XXCoder: im amazed usa isnt closed yet
06:19 PM XXCoder: and april 15th is still on table
06:19 PM jthornton: April 15th?
06:19 PM XXCoder: yep, reopen business etc everywhere in usa
06:20 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, I heard it was april 1st
06:20 PM _unreal_: ;)
06:20 PM XXCoder: or easter day
06:21 PM jthornton: I don't think that will happen, we are hunkering down here
06:21 PM XXCoder: very much not happening
06:21 PM XXCoder: it will be months
06:21 PM jthornton: everything is closed or limited access except grocery and home improvement stores
06:22 PM XXCoder: politicans is so much out of touch that they think 1.2k is lot of money. bill almost failed because some republicans thought that was too generous
06:23 PM jthornton: I just got a text from a guy that owns a local car dealership that the brickers were done and I can start building the iron fence lol
06:24 PM jthornton: yea the stimulus is ok if your out of work and starving
06:24 PM XXCoder: yeah its $600 if youre out of work and starving
06:25 PM jthornton: I read $1,200 unless your income is above $75k or something like that
06:25 PM XXCoder: thats fir people thats working
06:25 PM XXCoder: lemme reread
06:25 PM * JavaBean grabs popcorn, didn't mean to make a fire...
06:26 PM XXCoder: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/03/26/stimulus-checks-how-much-money-get-government/2921123001/
06:26 PM JavaBean: just so i can check my memory, jthornton you are the chicken farmer in channel, right?
06:26 PM XXCoder: "People with little or no tax liability would get at least $600 (or $1,200 for joint returns)."
06:26 PM XXCoder: i guess thats me. i got no family and all that
06:26 PM XXCoder: "Adults receive a lump sum of $1,200 (or $2,400 for those filing tax returns jointly). " i guess those is more regular people
06:33 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, thre are different rates
06:52 PM XXCoder: kinda wtf
06:52 PM XXCoder: somehow I "subbed" to xbox yt channel
06:52 PM XXCoder: i dont remember that one
06:52 PM XXCoder: and man they spam videos
07:01 PM _unreal_: ?
07:01 PM _unreal_: xbox yt?
07:01 PM _unreal_: meaning?
07:41 PM p0g0: looks like Paducah might have some real weather going on (southwestern edge of KY, used to make U235 there.
07:44 PM p0g0: XXCoder, You have tax withheld from your paycheck- that you have a paying job means you have a tax liability, you just have paid as you go, but that is a different thing.
07:44 PM XXCoder: ah thought it meant more like more than single one
07:45 PM p0g0: no, that's covered in the married stuff - filing singly/jointly
07:45 PM p0g0: married needs to have earnings >150k to be exempt
07:45 PM XXCoder: so basically im getting 1.2k
07:46 PM XXCoder: i suppose i can always use it towards college loans as im still working
07:46 PM p0g0: that is what is reported. I'd wait to see if the check clears.
07:46 PM XXCoder: though not right away
07:47 PM p0g0: fwiw, the feds wet dream is that you blow it all at once, to get the 4 in circulation- don't bank it or use it for untaxed things (moonshine, etc)
07:47 PM p0g0: eh $ not 4
07:47 PM XXCoder: yeah, its nice backup if i decide not to work for couple weeks
07:47 PM p0g0: But it is yours to do with as you please
07:48 PM XXCoder: im one of in risk groups as my lungs is already damaged
07:48 PM p0g0: Yep, I'd hope to be laid off in your case.
07:48 PM XXCoder: hell no, im very nearly unhirable
07:48 PM p0g0: That gets you unemployment and the 1.2
07:49 PM p0g0: OK
07:49 PM XXCoder: it took foorts of bunch of people to get me employed at all.
07:49 PM p0g0: well, I cannot speak to that.
07:50 PM XXCoder: that said, i m thinking maybe try for some office type jobs
07:50 PM p0g0: were you some unicorn "average guy", the layoff works out better if you are under a death sentence for staying at work.
07:50 PM XXCoder: my lungs and back is slowly getting worse, 2 years ago summer really impacted me very badly with ashes
07:51 PM JavaBean: can't say nothing about lungs, but back issues are no fun
07:51 PM p0g0: as far as I can tell, the only growth industries right now are deliveries and bankruptcies.
07:51 PM XXCoder: yeah machine company im working at was hammered by 737 thing
07:51 PM XXCoder: then boeing closing.
07:52 PM XXCoder: they are now recalling ALL machining outprocesses because they need more jobs
07:53 PM p0g0: well, I have lived in one of the poorest counties in the US for decades, some of that is because it is a tiny county, but most of it is other stuff- one of the virtues of the place is they get being poor, and there is little stigma to it, tho it is it's own punishment.
07:56 PM p0g0: I guess the only point in that is that there is about to be a lot more poverty in the US, all the debt loaded folks are going to be in real trouble.
07:56 PM XXCoder: yeah
07:57 PM p0g0: And if the mortality rates do anything like they have in the hard hit places, that is a real blow to a national economy.
07:57 PM XXCoder: yeah. world economy is going to suck for next year
07:58 PM andypugh: year? This might take decades.
07:59 PM p0g0: I'd guess longer for the less affluent/industrious places- where money is gained from services and such, not essential markets.
07:59 PM andypugh: How long did the Great Depression last? (and that didn’t even have a real cause…)
07:59 PM p0g0: I doubt decades, but there were already negatives in play that might compound.
07:59 PM XXCoder: andy aftershocks yeah. but peak suckage will be in year or 2
08:00 PM p0g0: The concentration of wealth is my best reason for 1927
08:00 PM cradek: /window burklefoo
08:00 PM cradek: oops
08:00 PM XXCoder: isnt it cause the stocks crushing hard?
08:00 PM p0g0: the worst of it was done in about 3 years, but as I already said, the "trickle down" parts take longer.
08:00 PM _unreal_: I'm buying stocks as fast as I can afford em
08:00 PM _unreal_: afford being the ! key word
08:01 PM andypugh: It’s a good time to buy, as long as you are sure that the companies will survice.
08:01 PM _unreal_: survice?
08:02 PM andypugh: It’s like “survive” but spelled wrong.
08:02 PM _unreal_: Ooohhhhhwwwww
08:02 PM _unreal_: I tink I'm just going to etch this @#$@#$@ board
08:02 PM p0g0: the stock fell, yes, but part of my point is that too many $ in too few hands, esp those that leveraged their stocks (borrowed against them to buy more stock) made it fragile. relatively few mistakes compounded and then that made all the sense of future investment quell, and that led to all the debt getting called in, and that led to huge sales of falling stocks.
08:02 PM andypugh: All the car companies are looking cheap. But then some of them might not make it.
08:02 PM _unreal_: the updates to kicad are pissing me off they changed shit
08:03 PM p0g0: Part of why we could buy land here for very small dollars in the 1960s was due to 1927.
08:04 PM XXCoder: airplane companies even cheaper but then they wont be up for maybe few years or decade
08:05 PM p0g0: the road I am on used to be a connector between towns, and a 1927 flood took out the bridge, and then the stock market crashed. The tracts right in here never recovered value to most locals.
08:05 PM _unreal_: brb checking on din
08:06 PM hazzy-m: Is anyone familiar with the OPC UA protocol?
08:06 PM p0g0: So, in the most impoverished parts of the US, it might be decades to "recover"- since the region to the east is a monolithic economy that has already crashed (coal), I'll expect that part of the state to stay down for a long while.
08:09 PM _unreal_: I really wish I had a barbreak
08:09 PM p0g0: Where I am and just to the west is hugely scenic, and has a growing tourism thing going, that will bounce back I think. In the last few days, we've had a slew of folks getting out of the city to hike, and that was trouble. The state and federal parks closed today. That will beat up the local tax base some, but unlike the coal fields, we still have something to sell.
08:12 PM _unreal_: p0g0, one thing is for sure dems are not going to be electiable for years
08:18 PM p0g0: XXCoder, gn8, & gl
08:18 PM XXCoder: thanks
08:19 PM _unreal_: ya XXCoder good luck and I'm not going anyware LOL
08:19 PM XXCoder: would be funny if helmets and gloves is permently required after this
08:19 PM XXCoder: would probably cause "naked head is bad" like going out naked
08:19 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, its already on the news there is a major push for mandatory vacing
08:20 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, going to put on my maga helmet
08:20 PM _unreal_: LOL
08:20 PM Wolf__: 0.o
08:20 PM XXCoder: it'd be weird
08:21 PM XXCoder: but if it lasts say a couple years and global, then most dieases would be wiped out
08:21 PM Wolf__: helmet?
08:22 PM XXCoder: yeah full face mask and all, postive filtered air pressure lol
08:22 PM Wolf__: ahh, papar type system
08:22 PM Wolf__: papr*
08:23 PM Wolf__: I dont think things are at that point yet, though I have thought about walking around with mine on next time I need to go to home depot
08:24 PM XXCoder: interesting
08:24 PM XXCoder: price ouch well it wont be bought out anytime soon lol
08:25 PM Wolf__: yeah, not cheap, mine is a welding helmet + papr, like $3k
08:25 PM XXCoder: just had a thought
08:25 PM XXCoder: what if doctors and nurses all have one as work requirements
08:26 PM XXCoder: dont have to always wear it, but emergacy like this one they all have it so yeah
08:26 PM Wolf__: most places do have them, because if employees cant use masks with proper fitment they need to use the positive pressure system
08:27 PM Wolf__: most places= healthcare providers
08:27 PM XXCoder: some people is saying that it may become cyclic thing
08:27 PM XXCoder: like flu
08:27 PM Wolf__: thats a possibility if no vaccine for it
08:28 PM XXCoder: depends on mutuation rate also
08:29 PM Wolf__: I’m not 100% caught up on news or anything, this is my first day off in weeks
08:29 PM XXCoder: ouch whats you so busy on
08:29 PM Wolf__: work…
08:30 PM XXCoder: lol ok
08:30 PM Wolf__: all the trucks we build are for the waste/refuse industry plus we maintain milk tankers
08:31 PM XXCoder: milk tankers interesting. I guess theres very strict requirements to ensure cleanness
08:31 PM Wolf__: probably, we just deal with keeping them moving
08:32 PM XXCoder: oh external stuff like engine, brakes etc
08:32 PM XXCoder: oil chanes etc
08:32 PM Wolf__: yeah
08:35 PM XXCoder: cool :)
08:36 PM XXCoder: im kinda considering what to do about my future of career
08:37 PM Wolf__: yeah, this sorta shutdown will do that
08:38 PM XXCoder: not only that but my lungs slowly getting worse
08:38 PM XXCoder: pollen and work air is enough to have me coughing constant;y
08:38 PM XXCoder: its been very dry spring so far which means lots of fun fires which means lots ash for me to choke on
08:42 PM Wolf__: that sucks
08:42 PM XXCoder: yeah
08:43 PM XXCoder: i mean, it only rains 3 or 4 times a week
08:43 PM XXCoder: far below normal
08:47 PM XXCoder: desktop water jet https://www.wazer.com/
08:50 PM Wolf__: kinda neat
08:50 PM XXCoder: yeah check out samples tho
08:51 PM XXCoder: steel, marble, boro glass, fun stuff
08:51 PM XXCoder: https://www.wazer.com/materials
08:52 PM Wolf__: I looked at o-max machines years ago, really impressive
08:57 PM Wolf__: I’m still working on learning the plasma table we just picked up
08:58 PM XXCoder: nice :)
08:58 PM Wolf__: mach3 based =/
09:02 PM XXCoder: bleh
09:02 PM XXCoder: get linuxcnc
09:03 PM Wolf__: I want to, but right now need a working system
09:03 PM Wolf__: simple but annoying
09:03 PM XXCoder: yeah
09:45 PM _unreal_: annoyingly simple LOL
09:46 PM Wolf__: yup
09:46 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, most dieases would be wiped out. HARDLY
09:46 PM Wolf__: cant adjust shit on it, least not simple…
09:46 PM _unreal_: Most dieases are sourced from the environment
09:46 PM _unreal_: people are just carriers and transmitters
09:47 PM JavaBean: _unreal_: might solve world hunger.... or maybe world peace
09:47 PM Wolf__: less people = less vectors for transmission?
09:48 PM _unreal_: o,O ahh the current corona virus is SO slow moving/transmitting not likely
10:03 PM jymmmm: Hey Wolf__
10:03 PM XXCoder: Wolf__: thats why I like lc. more flexable
10:03 PM XXCoder: im guessing unreal said something pro-diease
10:04 PM jymmmm: YAY was able to find/order another P95 half mask =)

10:23 PM jymmmm: doesn't work at all now?
10:23 PM XXCoder: nah it works
10:23 PM XXCoder: it makes a "spotface" which is loss of lumens from dot
10:23 PM jymmmm: ah

10:23 PM XXCoder: cleaned
10:24 PM Tom_L: jymmmm, they _are_ out to get ya

10:29 PM jymmmm: Tom_L It missed me by 3 miles. But all around me is just not the same anymore.
10:29 PM Tom_L: i remember the pics you posted
10:30 PM jymmmm: they did the clenaup, and a couple of homes here and there are being built, but it's pretty bare. more for sale signs than anything else. people are not really willing to come back and rebuild, especially businesses, and most cna NOT get insurance
10:31 PM jymmmm: Can't blame them, they got cashed out after the fire, and starting up elsewhere with cash in hand
10:31 PM Tom_L: how rural are you?
10:32 PM jymmmm: I dont know how to define that

10:33 PM Tom_L: well you may do that anyway...
10:33 PM jymmmm: no
10:33 PM jymmmm: maybe the back yard though =)
10:33 PM jymmmm: sorta
10:33 PM Wolf__: I can shoot a rifle in my yard and not have cops show up… and I’m 25 miles from DC lol
10:34 PM jymmmm: In one of th eonly counties in Californai that you ARE allows to get a CCW
10:55 PM _unreal_: yawn
