02:20 AM CaptHindsight: top o the mournin to yah
02:22 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.facebook.com/groups/opensourcecovid19medicalsupplies/photos/ from clever to dangerous
02:34 AM miss0r: spare me the scrolling of looking at it all; where did it turn dangerous?
02:37 AM CaptHindsight: oh i posted the pictures link by mistake
02:37 AM miss0r: meh :] some good ideas in there though
02:37 AM CaptHindsight: sure
02:38 AM CaptHindsight: looks like it will also match some suppliers with high capacity to those in need
02:38 AM miss0r: I'm waiting around for my paint and gasmask at the moment
02:38 AM miss0r: indeed
05:00 AM jthornton: morning
05:01 AM XXCoder: hey jt
05:01 AM XXCoder: did some deburr today :yay"
05:01 AM XXCoder: also, wtf https://kotaku.com/gamestop-we-can-stay-open-during-lockdowns-because-wer-1842415962 "essental"
05:02 AM jthornton: lol
05:04 AM jthornton: I finally broke the barrier to 179.2 this morning
05:05 AM jthornton: it's funny to watch a spider in the IR light
05:07 AM XXCoder: isnt it usually super glowy? or is that scorption
05:07 AM jthornton: yea glowing white
05:14 AM jthornton: wake up time for the chickens
05:16 AM XXCoder: nice
05:16 AM XXCoder: feed them glowy spiders
05:16 AM jthornton: lol
05:17 AM jthornton: man I'm tired of all this rain, can't fix my levee until it dries up enough to drive the backhoe
05:18 AM jthornton: http://www.qtpyvcp.com/components/backplot.html
05:18 AM XXCoder: hey
05:18 AM XXCoder: you stole the rain!
05:18 AM jthornton: you can have it back lol
05:18 AM XXCoder: it havent rained here for few weeks now. completely abnormal
05:18 AM XXCoder: soon, calfornians with bad driving will be able to stay year around
05:19 AM XXCoder: the screen for showing machine movements etc right?
05:19 AM XXCoder: looks cool
05:20 AM jthornton: yea, uses VTK which is way faster than gremlin which uses hmm I forget
05:22 AM XXCoder: nice
06:35 AM Loetmichel: *MUHAHA* I just lifted an OSB shipping crate with a 40" TV inside for delivery weight "measurement". $me:"ah, maybe 20kg(44lb)"... Coworker: "lets get the scale to verify that..." So i lifted it onto the scale... Scale shows 53kg (117lb) OOOOps... Coworker: "yeah, thats what i expected, i couldnt lift even one side of the box. 20kg my ass!" :-)
07:09 AM Tom_L: morning
07:10 AM Tom_L: 32°F and windy
07:10 AM Tom_L: cases up to 36 here
07:13 AM _methods is now known as methods_
07:27 AM jthornton: we have 39
07:28 AM jthornton: but I have conflicting reports one says 28
07:39 AM andypugh: Who was the guy in Florida? Beachbum Pete?
07:39 AM andypugh: Just saw this on the forum: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/54-user-exchange/38596-6x12-calypso-waterjet-tank-and-gantry-free-to-a-good-home#160431
07:41 AM jymmmm: Good morning
07:42 AM net|: in italy they had 430 deaths in 24 hours
07:43 AM jymmmm: jthornton: drive the backhoe to backplot, I thought you CNC'ed your tractor =)
07:44 AM jymmmm: net|: WOW, ALL corona related?
07:45 AM net|: yeah pretty intense... it makes me feel like what im going through is only the flu or sars...
07:45 AM net|: most noticed part is my ribs hurt not even from cough
07:46 AM jymmmm: wrap them in an ace bandage???
07:46 AM net|: feels like it could be that in a week or 3
07:47 AM net|: the main problem is its modifying rna which modify's dna later
07:47 AM net|: a disease
07:47 AM net|: might be hidden cancer or new lungs from the aliens
07:48 AM net|: https://netpipe.ca/?p=3988 << i made this a couple days ago so i could be rich if i dont die
07:50 AM net|: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9JdcKfSpHQ 475 in 24 hours
07:53 AM net|: the same day they reported 4000 new cases
07:53 AM net|: in 24 hours
08:18 AM p0g0_: eh, RNA doesn't generally do anything to DNA, no editing, no epigentics. What you can get is a permanent infection, like herpes or chicken pox (that shows up later as shingles). I haven't heard of any evidence that the virus doesn't clear completely once the immune system gets on it, but it is a bit early to say much about that.
08:42 AM net|: rna is what transcodes dna
08:43 AM net|: its what takes dna apart and make copies i think
08:54 AM Loetmichel: Hihi, coworker just came by: "gimme your home adress please so boss can write permits for all of us in case hessia follows bavaria with the corona curfew!" :-)
09:15 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: HUH?
09:15 AM jymmmm: in case of what?
09:15 AM jymmmm: https://nypost.com/2020/03/19/old-malaria-drug-hydroxychloroquine-may-help-cure-coronavirus-study/
09:16 AM jymmmm: As I understand it, it delivers zinc that blocks/reduces corona. Could do the same with a OTC suppliment too
09:34 AM * JT-Shop has a 1 1/8" shackle and a 1" shackle... no clue what I'll ever do with them
09:39 AM jymmmm: padlock?
10:03 AM Loetmichel: Jymmm: the bavaria state of germany has a curfew in effect to thwart the corona virus. if the police gets you outside without a "pressing reason" (like buying essential goods for living) or having a letter from your boss that he needs you at the company they can fine you 3000eur. and fear is that the other states of germany will follow that lead
10:03 AM Loetmichel: so boss provided us with said letters
11:02 AM CaptHindsight: jymmmm: https://youtu.be/1vZDVbqRhyM?t=40 how ACE2 works with Zinc and SARS-COV-2
11:08 AM lecki85: Hello, does anyone know the max.voltage limits for the mesa 7i77 encoder inputs?
11:11 AM pcw_home: They are standard RS-422 receivers so expect 5V signals
11:33 AM Jymmm: Loetmichel: oh cool
11:35 AM lecki85: thank you
12:27 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: There was no mention of zinc in the link you provided,
12:34 PM CaptHindsight: Jymmm: https://youtu.be/U7F1cnWup9M?t=100
12:35 PM CaptHindsight: Zinc and Hydrochloroquin
12:37 PM CaptHindsight: 3:35 Zinc
12:44 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: Yeah, that's the one I originally linked above =)
12:44 PM Jymmm: #34, then you linked me #37 =)
12:44 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: Stop trying to confuse me =)
12:45 PM CaptHindsight: sorry
12:45 PM gregcnc: just announced shelter in place in IL starting tomorrow
12:45 PM CaptHindsight: 37 covers where 34 left off
12:46 PM CaptHindsight: yeah was just heading to the store
12:46 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: no worries, Now I'm trying to figure out if Quercetin Dihydrate (zinc) can penitrate cell wall
12:46 PM Jymmm: https://www.amazon.com/BulkSupplements-Quercetin-Dihydrate-Powder-Grams/dp/B00GW1TVWE
12:48 PM Jymmm: The shelves are kinda bare at the grocery stores here., and the line at costco is going around the building
12:56 PM andypugh: I have enough food to see me through to Sunday.
12:56 PM andypugh: Hmmm
01:04 PM SpeedEvil: I have enough to see me through till about January.
01:04 PM SpeedEvil: Last few months will be very boring though.
01:05 PM SpeedEvil: (90% bought in 2019 or before)
01:14 PM andypugh: I am wondering how long it will be before folk decide that the ones likely to die of CoVID are expendable after all?
01:14 PM p0g0_: today
01:15 PM p0g0_: "we get to inherit early", what's the downside to that?
01:15 PM andypugh: They are talking about this going on for a year. I can’t see many companies surviving being closed down for a year.
01:16 PM SpeedEvil: SARS-1 had 10% of the working age population that got ill unable to work as normal the next year.
01:16 PM Javabean: a year is someone hoping and praying to get it over as fast as possible
01:16 PM SpeedEvil: SARS-2 - who knows.
01:19 PM SpeedEvil: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3071317/
01:21 PM Tom_L: SpeedEvil, don't eat all the good stuff first :)
01:21 PM p0g0_: two scenarios are fast- massive infection rates soon, or some damn lucky vaccine.
01:21 PM p0g0_: Nothing else ends soon.
01:22 PM SpeedEvil: Tom_L: trying to store grapes for 9 months may go poorly
01:22 PM p0g0_: wine?
01:22 PM Tom_L: make wine?
01:22 PM SpeedEvil: p0g0_: zombies on the 4th of July
01:23 PM p0g0_: vinegar, jellies, raisins...
01:23 PM gregcnc: what is south korea actually like now?
01:23 PM gregcnc: some places seem to have a handle on it
01:24 PM p0g0_: The food supply doesn't worry me much, distribution might be challenged, but I suspect that is managable.
01:24 PM gregcnc: singapore claims to be business as usual http://theconversation.com/why-singapores-coronavirus-response-worked-and-what-we-can-all-learn-134024
01:24 PM Tom_L: kroger is hiring 10k more workers
01:24 PM SpeedEvil: What I'm worried about is lack of grocery delivery - which I rely on. Hence the above.
01:24 PM p0g0_: The food delivery companies in the US are hiring like mad.
01:25 PM gregcnc: but it's probably too late for that in many areas
01:25 PM p0g0_: gregcnc, ?
01:25 PM gregcnc: this is probably how the matrix began
01:25 PM p0g0_: ah, you mean the tracking and sequestration
01:26 PM gregcnc: right kind of like using anti seize. pay close attention and you can keep it at bay, don't and your wife will be asking why your willy is silver
01:27 PM gregcnc: wife/partner/so/i don't judge
01:29 PM Javabean: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/365841373447847937/690580133802672168/image0.png
01:30 PM pcw_home: We could learn a lot from South Korea: massive testing and contact mapping
01:32 PM p0g0_: The contact mapping boat has sailed for the most part around here. Maybe the cell phone tracking types can still do it, but it's kinda past the sell by date.
01:32 PM p0g0_: USA)
01:33 PM FinboySlick: Heh, the can and maybe even have done it, but the capability is secret so they won't use it ;)
01:34 PM pcw_home: Yeah the US fiddled around for a month or so (so about 10Kx cases at the current 10X per 8 day rate)
01:45 PM methods_: perfect opportunity to free up some social security moniez
01:47 PM methods_: push them old's out onto the coronavirus iceberg
01:49 PM SpeedEvil: See above for problems with that approach - SARS1 affected 10% of the 'recovered' to the point they could not continue their previous work.
01:53 PM methods_: that was sarcasm
01:53 PM methods_: never translates well to irc
01:55 PM SpeedEvil: I was commenting about the people that might make that arguemnt seriously, rather than your comment.
01:56 PM Tom_L: in the afermath someone should market a whole line of "I survived" memorabilia
01:58 PM methods_: with a giant roll of toilet paper on it
03:11 PM * JT-Shop wants a T shirt with I survived the toilet paper wars
03:17 PM CaptHindsight: grocery stores here are busy again
03:18 PM andypugh: https://youtu.be/wnd1jKcfBRE?t=16
03:19 PM CaptHindsight: people were joking about people not hoarding properly
03:19 PM CaptHindsight: "go back and get at least 3 of everything"
03:20 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: Mitchell & Webb have some great sketches
03:21 PM CaptHindsight: what have you won? It's fuel
03:31 PM SpeedEvil: CaptHindsight: my supermarket (Tesco) has just limited all orders, delivery and online, to 3 items per line.
03:31 PM SpeedEvil: This works well for rolls of TP. Less so for apples.
03:34 PM XXCoder: only enough applies for 3 days
03:35 PM XXCoder: *apples
03:47 PM CaptHindsight: how do you guys handle having multiples of the same parts on the same mill at one time?
03:47 PM CaptHindsight: if the fixture holds say 4 x 4 of the same part
03:48 PM XXCoder: theres 2 ways
03:48 PM XXCoder: if single stock can have all 4 sharing single coord
03:48 PM XXCoder: or you set coord each part g54 g55 etc
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: do you use the same CAM file for each part and then 0,0 for each part or do you generate CAM for the whole batch as one new file?
03:49 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: so which way do YOU do it?
03:49 PM XXCoder: usually latter. i handcrafted one that had 9 parts to do a function all because it was huge and old machine couldnt handle it
03:52 PM XXCoder: *function all
03:52 PM XXCoder: *call dammit
03:52 PM CaptHindsight: heh, am I typing for you :)
03:52 PM CaptHindsight: <-- CaptTypo
03:52 PM XXCoder: :)
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: i think they the parts will all have their own reference marks
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: they/that
03:53 PM XXCoder: its usually easier to reuse also
03:53 PM XXCoder: if you use sheets its better to use one reference at corner
03:54 PM XXCoder: saves lot of time
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: these are all separate/individual parts
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: so they come in already separate, with reference marks
03:55 PM CaptHindsight: all the same size so they could fit several into one fixture
03:56 PM CaptHindsight: so they will be somewhat aligned, but I'll have to use the reference marks to get 0,0
03:56 PM CaptHindsight: a camera should do it
03:57 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe2RACwiEbg similar
03:58 PM XXCoder: unwatchable but slides i see what you mean
04:00 PM andypugh: Maybe skunkworks can explain how he did that. 6 years ago
04:01 PM andypugh: And, for once, XXCoder, you are lucky. That video has a horrible high-pitched noise through it.
04:01 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: we are getting opneCV working in qtpyvcp
04:01 PM XXCoder: andy its very bad for me too
04:01 PM XXCoder: visually
04:01 PM andypugh: Yes, but youi only get half the horror :-)
04:01 PM XXCoder: couldnt watch more than a second before i had to stop it and start just clicking though video
04:01 PM XXCoder: lol ok
04:02 PM CaptHindsight: the new branch is already capturing video
04:02 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: heh, above my range already, I am immune
04:03 PM andypugh: I do seem to have unusual acuity at the top end for one of my age.
04:03 PM XXCoder: my body: "what is sound?"
04:03 PM CaptHindsight: i spent lots of time around loud music decades ago
04:03 PM XXCoder: ;)
04:04 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/WrVACYoWOPMGWIjvvWbuOAvz
04:05 PM CaptHindsight: openCV widget with edge detection for QTPYVCP
04:05 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: and we are getting the SVG slicer in QTPYVCP as a widget as well
04:05 PM XXCoder: svg slicer eh
04:06 PM XXCoder: svg to 2d toolpaths?
04:06 PM CaptHindsight: setting up the test mill later
04:06 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: SVG layers for raster output, resin printers
04:06 PM XXCoder: hmm ok
04:07 PM XXCoder: been using slic3r slice to svg
04:07 PM XXCoder: for my laser
04:07 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChKmIHP7G_U
04:07 PM CaptHindsight: sure point source vector vs raster
04:08 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: I do the same as you only with SLS
04:08 PM XXCoder: you have a sls? dang im jelious
04:08 PM XXCoder: i want to make nylon stuff using a sls
04:08 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: yes i make all sorts of hybrid machines and printers
04:09 PM CaptHindsight: small SLS https://imgur.com/ukGDmqf
04:09 PM XXCoder: ahh yeah remember that one yeah
04:09 PM CaptHindsight: the cover is off the build chamber on the left
04:10 PM CaptHindsight: SVG slices are used for DLP/LCD printers https://imgur.com/zKNtBAg
04:30 PM skunkworks: bent the boring bar.. oops.. I guess I will have to grind one.
04:30 PM XXCoder: doh
04:31 PM skunkworks: logic error - thought I could reset the eoffset and the polygon componant at the same time
04:31 PM skunkworks: I can't
04:31 PM CaptHindsight: skunkworks: I have a cheap set from Shars. I think they come prebent and dull
04:31 PM skunkworks: CaptHindsight: yes - same set I have
04:32 PM CaptHindsight: $20 or similar?
04:32 PM CaptHindsight: I knew they looked familiar
04:33 PM skunkworks: I think from enco... but same
04:33 PM CaptHindsight: well $14 was why i have them https://www.shars.com/products/cutting/boring-bars/3-8-c-6-carbide-tipped-boring-bar-set
04:33 PM CaptHindsight: how bad can they be? pretty bad
04:34 PM XXCoder: komit
04:34 PM XXCoder: you guys need it heh
04:35 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: Shars is 45 minutes from me
04:35 PM skunkworks: they are usually grabbed as a last resort
04:35 PM CaptHindsight: it's on the way to one of my other suppliers so I'll stop in
04:35 PM XXCoder: fun
04:35 PM andypugh: Shars pops up a box “which best describes you: cnc magician / home shop hero / the happy hobbyist / other “
04:35 PM CaptHindsight: fine for abuse
04:36 PM andypugh: Can I have “all of the above?”
04:36 PM CaptHindsight: they have some nice end mills made in the USA
04:36 PM skunkworks: did I just stop the gene thread? sorry about that
04:36 PM XXCoder: skunk I wonder if it would work for thread cutting lol
04:36 PM CaptHindsight: the vises are great that i got
04:37 PM XXCoder: not tht its nesscary just curious
04:37 PM XXCoder: tool is probabky too long to make threads
04:37 PM CaptHindsight: parallels are ok, same for 123 blocks and some other odds and ends
04:37 PM Loetmichel: andypugh: all of the above ;)
04:38 PM skunkworks: hmm - spindle has decent torque at 20rpm
04:39 PM skunkworks: it is just a little lumpy
04:39 PM Loetmichel: skunkworks: "decent torque" as in "just put wrench on the ERXX nut and let the spindle tighten the tool" kind of torque?
04:40 PM skunkworks: no - like I can't seem to stop it by hand without hurting myself torque
04:40 PM skunkworks: more than enough torque for machining plastic
04:41 PM skunkworks: at small diameters
04:43 PM andypugh: I got a set of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32835013911.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.383b4284CHUjvo&algo_pvid=9df1e342-d859-4d9b-a007-7ebbb555fb9d&algo_expid=9df1e342-d859-4d9b-a007-7ebbb555fb9d-31&btsid=0b0a182b15847405200176095efe7c&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
04:43 PM andypugh: Or similar.
04:44 PM andypugh: Note that includes 30 tips.
04:44 PM XXCoder: not bad
04:44 PM andypugh: Much cheaper without, obviously https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32972425275.html
04:44 PM XXCoder: though not adjustable like komets at work
04:45 PM andypugh: Ah, well, you see…. I got the 18mm ones to fit my Wohlhaupter boring head.
04:45 PM XXCoder: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33025353730.html
04:46 PM andypugh: It isn’t clear what you get for your money there. But I suspect not quality.
04:47 PM XXCoder: definitely not quality no
04:47 PM XXCoder: cheap and you can use dial indictor to size it though
04:47 PM andypugh: And it does come with an “exquisite box”
04:48 PM XXCoder: love chineseium crap discriptions
04:48 PM andypugh: Is it me, or does the picture of the exquisite box look like a rendering?
04:48 PM CaptHindsight: shopping for tools there was always fun
04:49 PM CaptHindsight: they would have a few grades of each tool
04:49 PM CaptHindsight: how much do you want to spend
04:49 PM XXCoder: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33013837656.html interesting
04:49 PM XXCoder: expensivbe too
04:50 PM CaptHindsight: same for cordless tools, price went up by a few dollars based on how many volts the batteries are
04:54 PM andypugh: I have some of those Komet shank adaptors.
04:55 PM andypugh: Interesting design.
04:56 PM andypugh: Komete ABS here: http://www.tools-n-gizmos.com/specs/Tapers.html
04:57 PM andypugh: Clever self-balancing screwy-wedgy thing
04:58 PM Tom_L: https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-nasa-images-china-pollution-clears-7dd8961d-0627-4342-ab0d-029c872ced1e.html
05:00 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_L: silver lining
05:00 PM Tom_L: coronavirus: cure for global warming
05:01 PM CaptHindsight: what do about parent complaining about their kids being at home and eating too many carbs
05:01 PM Tom_L: might be good for them too new one on one parenting skills
05:03 PM Tom_L: now all we need is a data blockout and we're surely doomed
05:03 PM CaptHindsight: if it ends up that appeasing the gods by tossing them into volcanoes works, I am for it (parents not the kids)
05:03 PM Tom_L: both.. you really want those kids leading us in the future?
05:04 PM p0g0_: like we have done such a great job?
05:04 PM CaptHindsight: the kids might be better off
05:04 PM p0g0_: they get to inherit early too
05:04 PM XXCoder: what i hope for is they will see effects of envormental cleaning
05:04 PM XXCoder: and want to keep it going
05:04 PM XXCoder: but nah
05:05 PM Tom_L: XXCoder, naw... next years will have more impact
05:05 PM p0g0_: I dont think it is the kids that are missing that point
05:05 PM CaptHindsight: monkey see monkey do vs putting 2 and 2 together
05:05 PM XXCoder: true though there is some immendate effects'
05:05 PM p0g0_: The USA's heritage Foundation hired an eye candy schill to oppose ms Thunberg
05:05 PM CaptHindsight: why did they have kids?
05:06 PM p0g0_: That was a pack of old white guys...
05:06 PM CaptHindsight: p0g0_: truly warped group
05:06 PM p0g0_: well, they just fired their president too
05:07 PM p0g0_: losing revenue at a good clip
05:07 PM CaptHindsight: not white enough?
05:07 PM p0g0_: not effective enough
05:08 PM CaptHindsight: I don't recall seeing sun in Beijing
05:08 PM CaptHindsight: or stars at night
05:08 PM p0g0_: I suppose not, but if you've watched for 20+ years, there is a lot more effective concern in china, as well as a lot more gov't effort to stifle same.
05:09 PM p0g0_: If they'd quit building thermal coal power plants...
05:13 PM CaptHindsight: p0g0_: they have them in the Beijing, really tall chimneys every mile or less
05:13 PM CaptHindsight: the building tie into them for heat vs individual heating units
05:13 PM p0g0_: yep, and more under construction.
05:14 PM p0g0_: co-generation is not a bad thing, it's the energy source and the fugutive emmisions
05:14 PM p0g0_: I have lived around them for 5 decades...
05:15 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.china.org.cn/environment/2015-05/26/content_35662846.htm
05:15 PM CaptHindsight: p0g0_: are you there now?
05:16 PM p0g0_: The bag houses are 95-99% effective, but for mercury but that 1-5% lands mostly within 50 miles. I am in Kentucky, USA
05:16 PM CaptHindsight: p0g0_: any talks of them going more nuclear for power?
05:16 PM CaptHindsight: ah the ones here
05:16 PM p0g0_: I am not in China, but they have built more NPPs than anyone lately
05:17 PM CaptHindsight: what do we expect, we did the same when manufacturing was booming in the USA
05:17 PM p0g0_: Yet, they haven't met the real issues there yet- water, age, waste, what happens to public support when one goes oops.
05:17 PM CaptHindsight: no cares about tomorrow
05:17 PM CaptHindsight: no it's their turn now
05:17 PM CaptHindsight: manufacture
05:18 PM CaptHindsight: has been
05:18 PM CaptHindsight: now that has slowed
05:18 PM p0g0_: NPPs are the only energy source that gets abandoned when there are issues- so a nation ends up building the alternatives anyway- viz US, Japan, etc
05:19 PM p0g0_: And of course, there is the milspec side of things- what to do with all the Pu...
05:30 PM Deejay: gn8
05:30 PM gloops: https://twitter.com/i/status/1241107243883470848
05:30 PM gloops: Man walks his dog using a drone while in quarantine
05:31 PM andypugh: I call fake
05:32 PM XXCoder: so, whos taking the video?
05:32 PM skunkworks: another drone!
05:32 PM andypugh: (Not sure if it’s the same everywhere, but here it’s OK to go out for exercise by yourself)
05:33 PM Tom_L: just carry a 6' 2m stick with you to beat anyone off that violates your social distancing
05:33 PM XXCoder: why?
05:34 PM XXCoder: just use skunk oil and people distance themselves automatically
05:35 PM p0g0: mercaptan?
05:35 PM p0g0: could work
05:48 PM Loetmichel: gloops: taht would probably work just AS well without the drone
05:49 PM XXCoder: sk lol drones all way in
05:49 PM Loetmichel: a neighbor back when i lived in a "skyscraper" with 160 appartments had a dog that would fit there
05:49 PM Loetmichel: every day at the same time she would take the lift down to the entrance of the building with her dog
05:49 PM Loetmichel: set the collie free
05:50 PM Loetmichel: and the dog would walk about 1 mile down the street, across two other streets into the woods. come back an hour later like clockwork to the front door of the house.
05:50 PM Loetmichel: "relieved" ;)
08:45 PM _unreal_: So the batteries in my UPS have crapped out WTF
08:45 PM _unreal_: Mfer
08:46 PM XXCoder: jow old is it?
08:47 PM XXCoder: if its lathium ion, then yeah you can constantly charge it and it will drain to zero
08:47 PM XXCoder: it have to disconnect sometimes
08:47 PM Jymmm: I have yet to see a Li-Ion ups
08:47 PM _unreal_: 2018
08:48 PM XXCoder: i hope there never will
08:48 PM XXCoder: lathium ion is great on many stuff but being charged constantly not so great
08:48 PM SpeedEvil: _unreal_: how warm is your UPS room?
08:48 PM XXCoder: 2 years hmm thats around age yeah when it loses some charge
08:48 PM _unreal_: not worm
08:48 PM * SpeedEvil is going to use Li-ion as a UPS.
08:49 PM SpeedEvil: (but typically 60-70% max charge)
08:49 PM _unreal_: those batteries typically crap out after two years
08:49 PM _unreal_: The batteries them selfs are fine...
08:49 PM _unreal_: if I take them out I could likely charge them with a 12v charger no problem
08:49 PM SpeedEvil: _unreal_: yeah - but what's the ESR
08:49 PM _unreal_: ding ding ding
08:51 PM Jymmm: ESR?
08:51 PM SpeedEvil: Effective series resistance
08:51 PM Jymmm: ah
08:51 PM SpeedEvil: A UPS will typically require the battery to be able to produce enough current to discharge it in 15 minutes.
08:51 PM _unreal_: SpeedEvil, would be nice if UPS's had a discharge cycle option to cycle the battery
08:52 PM SpeedEvil: _unreal_: lead-acid batteries aren't really helped at all by that.
08:52 PM _unreal_: My usp's are large
08:53 PM _unreal_: apx backups pro 1500
08:53 PM _unreal_: I have not paid for a single one ether :)
08:53 PM _unreal_: I find them in the dumpsters at work typically once twice a year
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: I have a the similar or same one
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: I have it hooked to 2*12V*100Ah
08:54 PM _unreal_: alyways the apc 1000 or 1500
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: From ~5 years ago.
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: I need to test it properly, but it seems to do >1kWh still.
08:55 PM _unreal_: ya my 1500 series can take an external battery bank
08:55 PM _unreal_: SpeedEvil, I'm really torn
08:55 PM _unreal_: really really torn need an opinion
08:55 PM SpeedEvil: on?
08:56 PM _unreal_: so I'm building my new cnc as you know
08:56 PM _unreal_: My psu is the question
08:56 PM _unreal_: I have a large tranformer
08:56 PM _unreal_: I can wire it 110/220
08:56 PM _unreal_: at work where I'm going to be bringing this system there is a 220 and plenty of 110
08:56 PM _unreal_: a single dedicated 220
08:57 PM _unreal_: but my UPS's are all 110
08:57 PM _unreal_: I'd like to have a backup for the the machine
08:57 PM SpeedEvil: what total watts?
08:57 PM _unreal_: good question. all my motors are rated for 33 watt 24v
08:57 PM _unreal_: 3 motors
08:58 PM _unreal_: I have two 75v 27,000uF rated caps https://www.powertronix.com/userfiles/kcfinder/images/Linear-Power-Supplies-4.jpg
08:58 PM _unreal_: setting it up like that
08:58 PM _unreal_: I'm using ve7it motor servo controller so push pull for direction control
08:59 PM _unreal_: rather then H bridge
08:59 PM SpeedEvil: Sorry, afk
08:59 PM _unreal_: ?
08:59 PM _unreal_: SpeedEvil, real quick, I can wire the transformer for 220 or 110. it has 2x primaries/2x secondaries
09:04 PM _unreal_: any one live?
09:05 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, wonder if I could get this working on the lcnc box when I get it setup? https://www.amazon.com/APC-BIOPOD-Biometric-Password-Manager/dp/B0001V2N62
09:05 PM _unreal_: I have one
09:05 PM XXCoder: looking
09:05 PM Jymmm: Nope, ran out of Dos Equis, had to drink Corona.
09:05 PM XXCoder: pretty sure can yeah
09:05 PM _unreal_: https://wiki.debian.org/FingerForce
09:06 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, I'm thinking it would be really cool to set that up. so I can just walk up to the machine finger it ((:)
09:06 PM _unreal_: and get it to unlock etc...
09:06 PM XXCoder: yeah makes it hard for someone else to access it
09:06 PM XXCoder: safier I guess
09:06 PM _unreal_: I have to regardless
09:06 PM Jymmm: _unreal_: If a xmfr has two primaries and not just centertapped, they are usually wired in series for 220 and in parallel for 110
09:07 PM _unreal_: I cant let any one but me run it
09:07 PM _unreal_: Jymmm, correct
09:07 PM _unreal_: I'm torn between running 220 or 110
09:07 PM _unreal_: if I do 220 cant use a backup USP
09:07 PM _unreal_: I dont have a 220v ups nore can I afford one expecially RIGHT NOW
09:07 PM _unreal_: ;)
09:08 PM _unreal_: Jymmm, I have a spare apc backups pro 1500 which takes an external battery pack
09:08 PM _unreal_: if desired
09:09 PM _unreal_: just be nice to not have a sudden power issue fuck up a milling job
09:09 PM _unreal_: the marina is know for power flux now and then. especially during the mid summer AND T storms
09:09 PM _unreal_: known
09:11 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, my UPS for my computer says I'm drawing 33 watts
09:11 PM _unreal_: for everything, laptop, external monitor. and a few other things that are plugged in
09:12 PM _unreal_: not much on though
09:15 PM XXCoder: not too bad
09:43 PM _unreal_: freeeking agony
09:43 PM _unreal_: updating CC info on accounts
10:55 PM XXCoder: CaptHindsight: https://github.com/dmitry-t/inkscape-export-layers
10:55 PM XXCoder: nice if you have laser and want to seperate it into single layers
10:55 PM XXCoder: it used to be jpg and png only, I suggested svg and its possible now
11:23 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: I use Slic3r to make layered SVG's, then I'm using my own code as a widget in QTPY that ties into LCNC HAL to display layers while moving the Z
11:23 PM XXCoder: yeah different user case for me
11:23 PM XXCoder: im using laser engraver
11:24 PM CaptHindsight: SLS is similar to your engraver
11:24 PM CaptHindsight: it just sinters vs cuts
11:26 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: how are YOU using layers with laser engraving?
11:26 PM CaptHindsight: do you engrave to multiple levels?
11:27 PM XXCoder: oh im just abusing it to save time, select all, convert to path, then use extensions animtools to make all of em its own layer
11:27 PM XXCoder: then mass export as svg (last part dont work)
11:27 PM XXCoder: https://github.com/dmitry-t/inkscape-export-layers
11:27 PM XXCoder: machine is too small. only one layer a time
11:27 PM XXCoder: before I simply moved one a time which is annoying
11:30 PM CaptHindsight: thanks for the link, the python might be useful
11:31 PM XXCoder: https://gitlab.com/su-v/inx-toolsanim# nice one also
11:31 PM XXCoder: export one dont work for me. 0.92. can you try?
11:33 PM CaptHindsight: maybe tomorrow
11:33 PM XXCoder: ok
11:33 PM CaptHindsight: long day, part zombie at the moment :)
11:34 PM XXCoder: wanted to play with laser but headachy
11:34 PM XXCoder: annoying
11:34 PM CaptHindsight: we go into "Stay at Home" mode tomorrow
11:35 PM CaptHindsight: 24 hour notice
11:42 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: how far are you from Wash?
11:42 PM XXCoder: far impiles being outside of it :)
11:42 PM XXCoder: im in washington state
11:43 PM CaptHindsight: Oh i thought you were in oregon
11:43 PM CaptHindsight: thinks that might be roycroft then
11:44 PM CaptHindsight: are you under a Stay at Home order?
11:44 PM CaptHindsight: Shelter in place
11:44 PM XXCoder: nope im only one guy in house that have to go out to work :(
11:44 PM XXCoder: work recently added hospital type auto mixer santanize
11:46 PM XXCoder: basically its attached to sink and it takes water and adds proper chemical amount during its flowing into container
11:46 PM XXCoder: i then can spray it on stuff to make it less infectious
11:47 PM CaptHindsight: I'll be back later, take care
11:47 PM XXCoder: later
