01:38 AM Loetmichel: mornin'
02:14 AM Loetmichel: *hmm* Not bad at all for an half a decade old I3-clone 3d-printer, is it? -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17730&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
03:25 AM Deejay: moin
03:43 AM pink_vampire: hi
04:12 AM XXCoder: hey pink_vampire
04:17 AM pink_vampire: hi XXCoder
04:17 AM XXCoder: whats up
04:17 AM pink_vampire: nothing much
04:18 AM XXCoder: last weekend I finally found setup that cuts though cardboard
04:18 AM XXCoder: yay
04:20 AM pink_vampire: I need to find a way to collaborate with a real programmer.
04:24 AM veegee: pink_vampire what are you trying to accomplish? Perhaps I can be of assistance
04:24 AM veegee: I mean collaborate on the programming part
04:25 AM sensille: https://web.mit.edu/humor/Computers/real.programmers
04:29 AM pink_vampire: veegee: It didn't works at all, we even tried to write the oled only every 1 sec, not every loop, but it didn't run smooth as I want. so this project is now scrap, from the idea it was just something for fun, not actual useful tool so time to move on.
04:30 AM veegee: Ah ok
05:03 AM Tom_L: morning
05:03 AM jthornton: morning
05:04 AM XXCoder: heys
05:09 AM SpeedEvil: hey
05:57 AM XXCoder: how to make tungsein rod shiv https://youtu.be/HFR3-CGq1a8
05:58 AM pink_vampire: not very healthy
05:59 AM XXCoder: yeah
05:59 AM XXCoder: pointy thing not very safe either at end lol
06:00 AM pink_vampire: radioactive fumes from tungsten tig rods..
06:00 AM XXCoder: tungsten isnt radioactive
06:00 AM jdh: 2% thoriated are. sort of.
06:03 AM XXCoder: interesting. https://www.pro-fusiononline.com/tungsten/radioactivity.htm
07:16 AM sync: thorium is an alpha radiator tho, so just make sure that you do not breathe or swallow the dust and you'll be fine
07:50 AM p0g0: Heck, breathing any of the welding fumes is like camping on the edge of a volcano. The decay products of Thorium are not pretty either iirc.
07:52 AM p0g0: well, looking up the half-life, the decay rate is not much threat.
07:59 AM Elmo40: when outside your body. but like sync said, if you injest it you are fucked.
08:31 AM JT-Shop: nice, I just replaced the battery in my eyephone 7+ and it does not charge...
09:54 AM p0g0: Elmo40, sure, but it's not a radiological toxicity, it's heavy metal CNS/organ stuff. And the fumes are not toxic because of radiologic decay, they are just fine particles of likely reduced metal that come to live in your lungs.
09:55 AM p0g0: *have come to live
09:56 AM jymmmm: JT-Shop Is the phone still open? If so, see if it's below 3.8v. If so, you might have to manually charge the battery to get it up to 3.8V before it will begin to charge internally
09:59 AM jymmmm: Heh, watching Z nation, so far they have had a Canadian Mounty Zombie, Baby Zombie, and glow in the dark (literally) radiation zombie =)
10:03 AM SpeedEvil: jymmmm: 2.5, more like
10:03 AM SpeedEvil: 3.8 is ~65% full
10:04 AM jymmmm: SpeedEvil: Maybe so, but read up that apple recharge circuit is finiky
10:04 AM jymmmm: 2.5v I'd consder dead
10:05 AM jymmmm: Unless I'm trying to harvest/revive old 18650's =)
10:16 AM jymmmm: The 1/2" SS wire mesh in my chiminey cap keeps getting clogged, I'm not sure what gauge it currently is, but going to modify it to double the surface area, would 18ga 304 be thick enough you think?
10:26 AM jymmmm: I THINK the current mesh is 14-16ga, but I found a 10ft roll of 18ga for $40
10:41 AM jthornton: jymmmm, the phone works find except for it won't charge and the screen never turns off now
10:42 AM jymmmm: jthornton: HAve you tried a HARD RESET?
10:42 AM jthornton: yea
10:42 AM jymmmm: jthornton: what does it report as the battery voltage?
10:46 AM jthornton: I just plugged the old battery in and it works like normal
10:47 AM jymmmm: But what's the replacement batteri's voltage?
10:49 AM jthornton: don't know
10:51 AM jthornton: right now the old battery is charging
11:15 AM sync: p0g0: metal fumes besides cadmium are suprisingly non toxic
11:25 AM unterhaus_: I just want to get rid of our chimney. Such a heat sink
11:27 AM Rab: jthornton, where did you source the replacement battery?
11:27 AM Rab: unterhaus_, thermostatically controlled servo louvre?
11:30 AM JT-Shop: fixez.com
11:34 AM Rab: I thought the battery in an iPhone SE was swelling (display issues), so I got a replacement battery from iFixit. The OEM battery wasn't swolling, but I swapped it out anyway. The iFixit battery seemed to work OK, but a few months later it started swelling and the phone basically split apart.
11:34 AM JT-Shop: wow
11:34 AM Rab: So I put the old Apple battery back in, and it's been working fine. :P Quite disappointed in iFixit.
11:35 AM Rab: Fortunately the phone was constructed in such a way that the stress didn't do permanent damage. iFixit offer a warranty, and seem very interested in product failures, but I haven't made the effort to pursue it yet. I don't think I want another battery from them.
11:42 AM JT-Shop: my current battery seems to self discharge and just when I want to fly the Mavic it's at 20%
12:06 PM Rab: Kind of a crazy piece of automation: https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/prodjallen/boeing-automated-honeycomb-repair-system-a3726e
12:39 PM jymmmm: Rab I wish they had a better video of the whole system
12:41 PM Rab: jymmmm, the video is awful.
12:42 PM jymmmm: Think this is thick enough to replace an existing spark arrester mesh? https://www.amazon.com/MTB-SS304-Stainless-Steel-Welded/dp/B076WSJ39Z
12:42 PM jymmmm: Rab: yeah jumps around and too short imo
12:53 PM jthornton: interesting, I plugged the new battery back in after charging the old one and now it's working... I assume I didn't have the plug fully in the socket now...
01:53 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
02:01 PM jymmmm: jthornton: cool, good to know =)
03:30 PM Elmo40: jymmmm, reviving 18650's at 2.5V ? Is it possible?
03:30 PM Elmo40: i thought that was too low to accept a charge
03:31 PM jymmmm: Elmo it's possible, let me lookup a video for you
03:32 PM gregcnc: they will charge, but damage is usually done already
03:32 PM gregcnc: how much luck have you had doing this?
03:53 PM Deejay: gn8
03:55 PM jymmmm: Elmo40: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbEfhPbqTDE
03:55 PM jymmmm: Elmo40: it's a good video
07:56 PM jymmmm: If anyone cares... wood stove chimney cap's spark arrestor is 1/2" square SS mesh use 18Ga (0.047") wire.
07:57 PM Tom_L: how long before that burns out?
07:58 PM jymmmm: Tom_L In my case it hasn't burned out at all, actualyl in great condition, I just need to modify the whole cap to give a larger surface area.
07:59 PM jymmmm: I just went on the roof today, was COMPLETELY clogged, like as in ZERO light could get thru it
07:59 PM Tom_L: hmm
07:59 PM jymmmm: More of a engineering design flaw, bucause it was the manufactures tech support that gave me the idea to increase the surface area
08:00 PM jymmmm: so it's a "known issue"
09:54 PM _unreal_: So I finally got my toothed idlers
09:54 PM _unreal_: only 3 months later
10:01 PM _unreal_: sigh
10:50 PM Elmo40: you making chips yet?
10:57 PM fjungclaus1 is now known as fjungclaus
