12:24 AM _unreal_: well I'm going to bed
01:15 AM ve7it: _unreal_, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O_kSp8N4vt2R3FWCY6W7VSbVT9WVyCv-/view?usp=sharing
01:16 AM ve7it: now we need to define the connections!
03:07 AM Deejay: moin
05:11 AM jthornton: morning
05:12 AM XXCoder: yo
05:12 AM XXCoder: I finally cut tubes and assembled led light assembly
05:12 AM jthornton: how did that go?
05:12 AM XXCoder: just partial to keep parts together. I still havent dipped switch in ispy to clean oil out
05:13 AM XXCoder: and i still havent figured how to remove strain relief
05:13 AM XXCoder: without destroying it
05:13 AM jthornton: got a photo of it?
05:13 AM XXCoder: a min
05:17 AM XXCoder: blob:https://imgur.com/9f42ff0e-3643-4feb-9572-ff1a53d3eb15
05:18 AM XXCoder: lol a sec
05:18 AM XXCoder: https://i.imgur.com/AcI7rl7r.jpg
05:18 AM XXCoder: one have magnetic clips and other dont
05:19 AM jthornton: got a closeup of the strain relief?
05:19 AM XXCoder: not really but dont want to remove rubber cover lol
05:19 AM XXCoder: lemme google
05:19 AM XXCoder: lol first result https://www.amplifiedparts.com/sites/default/files/uc_products/p-h1200.png
05:20 AM jthornton: ah you just squeeze it with pliers to reomove them
05:21 AM XXCoder: oh really cool :)
05:21 AM XXCoder: I need to remove those short sections of wire and move wire in
05:21 AM XXCoder: and other side just needs plugs (standard plugs)
05:22 AM XXCoder: then its converted to standard plug very strong light
05:24 AM XXCoder: it was orginially cnc machine light system
05:24 AM jthornton: yea I remember it
05:27 AM XXCoder: its so hard for me to get up and do stuff
05:27 AM XXCoder: laser flop sucks :( I wont get new board for weeks
05:31 AM XXCoder: i bought https://www.ebay.com/itm/1X-New-Wolike-Grbl-Usb-Port-Cnc-Engraving-Machine-Control-Board-2-Axis-Step1C5/174110319820
05:31 AM XXCoder: I looked at it carefully make really sure it has pwm!
05:42 AM jthornton: did you hear back from the seller?
05:43 AM XXCoder: for first 2 messages yeah third one where i told them of discovery of how heavily cheapened board was, silence. it was entering weekend though
05:43 AM XXCoder: so im waitinf for weekdays again
05:51 AM XXCoder: mn I cant wait to get laser toy running
05:52 AM jthornton: couple of ladder backs decided my house was a dead tree and started pecking at the wood
05:52 AM XXCoder: is there a good "slicer" for laser? ie slice 3d shape into cut layer
05:52 AM XXCoder: s
05:55 AM jthornton: dunno, your the first person I know with a laser lol
05:55 AM XXCoder: lol
05:55 AM XXCoder: its definitely not fancy $10000 one or even $1000 one
06:17 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: Slicing of what material?
06:18 AM XXCoder: any material really material dont mtter heh
06:18 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: and is it uniform depth?
06:19 AM XXCoder: what I wonder about is programs not material
06:19 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: Even the weather matters when it comes to a laser
06:21 AM XXCoder: do you know of any program that can turn 3d model into slices of it for laser cutting?
06:21 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: The laser needs to be focused to the material. power levels change as thickness and density changes. So "slicing" at aarbitraray depths may not have the desired results.
06:21 AM XXCoder: im not talking about cutting materials
06:22 AM XXCoder: im taling about generating gcode
06:22 AM jymmmm: for 3d carving?
06:22 AM XXCoder: not carving, building layers
06:22 AM jymmmm: slicing, cutting
06:23 AM SpeedEvil: Do you mean cutting sheets?
06:23 AM jymmmm: the laser beam kerf changes as depth changes. It's like a flashlight, the beam widens
06:24 AM XXCoder: jy I dont know why you keeps misunderstanding me
06:24 AM XXCoder: im talking about 3d model slicing into gcode of parameters for laser machine
06:24 AM XXCoder: not physical process of cutting sheet into shapes
06:25 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: and I asked if the material will be the same thickness, you said no
06:25 AM XXCoder: I didnt say no. nor yes
06:25 AM jymmmm: nm, I give up
06:26 AM XXCoder: honestly its not powerful enough for much past paper, tape or coorgated cardboard
06:26 AM XXCoder: all quite flat
06:26 AM XXCoder: in fact machine dont even have z axis lol
06:28 AM XXCoder: honestly I dont know why you are confusing software process with physical machine process.
06:28 AM XXCoder: im asking about program not machine
06:30 AM XXCoder: I know of only one, loban whatever. dunno if that one is worth money and I hate monthly or annual fee type software license type.
06:30 AM Tom_itx: morning
06:31 AM XXCoder: yo
06:33 AM jymmmm: https://makerspace.tulane.edu/index.php/Creating_Stacked_3d_Models_using_the_Laser_Cutter
06:34 AM XXCoder: niiice thanks. reading now. :)
06:35 AM XXCoder: hmm dunno since on fusion 360 which isnt really software I can run
06:35 AM jymmmm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrU2eZ6URd8
06:44 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: NEVER EVER CUT/ENGRAVE PVC MATERIAL... NEVER! Releases HCL which is toxic to you and can damaged your laser/optics
06:44 AM XXCoder: yeah it corrodes stuff real good lol
06:44 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: Other plastics/polymers are fine, just not PVC
06:45 AM jymmmm: Yeah, like your lungs
06:45 AM XXCoder: my lungs isnt great shape so I would be careful never to try anything with pvc
06:47 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: If you are not sure if it's PVC, take a piece of 12ga copper wire, heat it until it will melt some of the suspect material on to the wire. Then hit it all with a torch. If you get a green flame, it's PVC
06:48 AM XXCoder: ok
06:48 AM XXCoder: honestly think ill do all wood and paper stuff
06:48 AM XXCoder: and nylon (its known to be nylon)
06:49 AM jymmmm: polycarb and acrylic sheet are fine, but you'll need to add air assist to get good results
06:50 AM XXCoder: yeah plan to test that dunno if can be any good
06:50 AM XXCoder: finally found https://www.luban3d.com/
06:50 AM jymmmm: Try a 2L soda bottle, it's thin and cheap and either PET or PETE
06:51 AM jymmmm: look at the recycle code on the bottom of the bottle.
06:51 AM XXCoder: ok will try that later :)
06:51 AM XXCoder: will it refect too much and burn something else?
06:51 AM XXCoder: or will it dissfuse too much?
06:51 AM jymmmm: nope
06:51 AM XXCoder: 2w isnt much
06:52 AM XXCoder: check that site out
06:52 AM jymmmm: but you will need air assist to get good results
06:52 AM XXCoder: pretty cool features, but not all laser related
06:53 AM XXCoder: $250 for forever
06:53 AM XXCoder: $50 annually. so 5 years
06:54 AM XXCoder: no linux tho
06:55 AM jymmmm: Blender and inscape have 3d slicing plugins iirc
06:55 AM XXCoder: inkscape really lemme look around that
07:06 AM XXCoder: sometimes pintrest is like a damn virus
07:06 AM XXCoder: messing with search results
07:07 AM jthornton: I avoid it like the plague
07:07 AM XXCoder: yeah me too
07:09 AM XXCoder: interesting https://tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/
07:09 AM XXCoder: can print a paper then cut em out
07:24 AM jymmmm: O_o
07:50 AM gloops: they sell a lot of small house name signs and chopping boards, personalised stuff done with lasers on ebay
07:50 AM gloops: especially anything horsey
07:50 AM XXCoder: jymmmm: http://forum.openscad.org/Slice-object-into-overlapping-slices-for-laser-cutter-like-123D-Make-but-better-td17332.html
07:51 AM gloops: i found sketchup best for those slice things, theres a plugin for it Slicr i think
07:51 AM gloops: made some shelves it worked fine
07:52 AM gloops: quirky app though with some shapes
07:52 AM XXCoder: hmm ok
07:53 AM gloops: cant remember now, fusion 360 also does it, but think i preferred the sketchup way
07:54 AM gloops: the are loads of plugins for specific things free on sketchup
07:54 AM XXCoder: yah just dont wanna load windows jst to slice stuff
07:54 AM gloops: you get to pick which axis to slice, xyz etc, how many slices, if you want the slots to assemble, even gives a plan for assembly
07:54 AM gloops: as not always straighforward lol
07:57 AM gloops: you can also do box joints on the flat with laser - loads and loads of laser cut mdf boxes for sale in the big home stores
07:57 AM XXCoder: lol cut wood yeah not happening. only 2w
07:57 AM XXCoder: cardboards sure
07:57 AM XXCoder: woods for engraving
07:58 AM gloops: well you could soon upgrade to 15w
07:58 AM XXCoder: not reallt
07:58 AM XXCoder: no room for any larger machine than tiny one I got
07:59 AM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Horse-Name-Plate-Stable-Door-Plaque-Vivaldi-Font-Horse-Head-Logo-Custom-Made/252536143503?
08:00 AM gloops: 1ft x 5inch
08:00 AM XXCoder: interesting
08:00 AM gloops: if you put those on ebay get ready lol
08:01 AM XXCoder: for what
08:01 AM gloops: to be busy
08:02 AM XXCoder: yeah no im busy with work already ;)
08:02 AM jthornton: gloops, you sell those?
08:15 AM gloops: i sell similar stuff - v carved not lasered though
08:15 AM gloops: anyway afk
08:16 AM jthornton: I thought you did something like that
08:31 AM _unreal_: morning
08:48 AM _unreal_: damn he left I was going to tell he his got some nasty selling issues on his ebay home page heh
08:50 AM _unreal_: wow i have issues
08:50 AM _unreal_: damn he left I was going to tell him he has some nasty spelling issues on his ebay home page
08:51 AM _unreal_: time for breakfast and COFFEE
10:08 AM elmo40: XXCoder, that LuBan software is cool. Not too expensive at $250 but expensive enough. The MeshSafe is $960!
10:21 AM _unreal_: ok there it is
10:21 AM _unreal_: so I took the angle aluminum off
10:22 AM _unreal_: and putting a TRUE straight edge on it. there is the tiny'est crown
10:22 AM _unreal_: so that must be whats putting all of the strain on the cars
10:22 AM _unreal_: I dont know if it would be wiser to try and block it and TAP it a few times with a mallet? or just sand it
10:24 AM _unreal_: and no one is around
10:25 AM elmo40: _unreal_, still messing with that beast? which one is crowned? when we changed linear rails on the Mazak we had to shim under each bolt to make it 'true'. different values everywhere. the main chassis appeared to be distorted a little.
10:35 AM _unreal_: bunch of gentile taps with a block of wood on a bridged setup took the warp out
10:36 AM _unreal_: just mounted the first one and tightened it up.90% better
10:36 AM _unreal_: elmo40, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1f5RpuuAvbcSQXCfoSPNeKWsTfQSwsbzo
10:37 AM _unreal_: the angle aluminum mounted to the cars
10:37 AM _unreal_: I just finished remounting one and its 90% better
10:37 AM _unreal_: still a tiny bit tight. but its NOT binding the bearings
10:38 AM _unreal_: there is one spot on the track that gives a little resistance. I dont know what that is all about. ether its mounted with a wiggle in it? or could be the track its self dont know
10:38 AM _unreal_: well time to go smash the other one into submission
10:49 AM elmo40: i don't think you should have mounted the Y axis to the wood yet.
10:49 AM elmo40: are you sure they are 'exactly' parallel?
12:10 PM _unreal_: elmo40, you dont know what I'm refering to
12:11 PM elmo40: right now i can not visualize it. no.
12:11 PM _unreal_: I just showed you a photo
12:11 PM elmo40: and, which one are you calling X? the bed rails?
12:11 PM elmo40: tool rails?
12:11 PM _unreal_: ! did I say X or Y
12:11 PM _unreal_: I'm refering to Y
12:12 PM elmo40: either way gets the other
12:12 PM _unreal_: Y is the main axis mounted to the base board
12:12 PM _unreal_: the rails are perfect
12:12 PM _unreal_: I've alredy run my dial indicator
12:12 PM _unreal_: as I said its the angle aluminum mounting the dual cars
12:13 PM _unreal_: the angle aluminum is warped out
12:13 PM _unreal_: I just finished mounting the last one and its as good as its going to get
12:13 PM _unreal_: I had to pound and sand the bottoms.
12:14 PM _unreal_: I can now push the bridge with my pinky
12:14 PM elmo40: nice
12:14 PM _unreal_: no difficulty
12:14 PM _unreal_: one side is not as free as the other but I can give the bridge a decent push and it will coast most of the way stopping short of the other end
12:15 PM elmo40: i doubt the motors will care about that
12:15 PM _unreal_: or crash if I give it to much
12:15 PM elmo40: and i doubt it will affect making perfect circles
12:15 PM _unreal_: I'm more concerned with ensuring I'm not over stressing the bearings
12:15 PM _unreal_: and rails
12:16 PM _unreal_: I'm building this setup with DC brushed servos
12:16 PM _unreal_: which will be geared down two times
12:16 PM _unreal_: I'd rather go for RPMS on the motors then raw torque
12:16 PM _unreal_: from the motors
12:17 PM _unreal_: sure that can have some direction change issues at higher feed rates but I'm not to concerned. working feed rate is working feed rate
12:18 PM _unreal_: I'm still trying to decide how to design the Z
12:18 PM _unreal_: Z will be mounted between the bridge https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fCGveW9ftNgEdcqa857odj_Deort-nNB
12:18 PM _unreal_: any suggestions are MORE then welcome
12:19 PM _unreal_: I'm also torn on where to mount the extrusion/rails for the X
12:19 PM _unreal_: they will NOT be mounted on the inside of the bridge
12:19 PM _unreal_: ether on the tops or out board sides
12:20 PM _unreal_: ?
12:48 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
01:20 PM _unreal_: ve7it, sup
01:21 PM _unreal_: gotten a little further
01:21 PM _unreal_: in building my machine
01:21 PM _unreal_: trying to get the bridge on with out torquing the Y tracks
01:21 PM ve7it: just a little... did you see the pdf schematic I posted?
01:21 PM _unreal_: ya
01:22 PM _unreal_: ? are you adding caps and other parts to the schematic as well? or just primary lines
01:22 PM _unreal_: for now?
01:23 PM ve7it: will probably completely document 1 channel for now....
01:24 PM _unreal_: ahh...
01:24 PM ve7it: today I will work on the 3 dips to see what they are trying to control or read
01:24 PM _unreal_: I have not traced them out but it is interesting. there are 3 fixed jumpers on the board
01:24 PM _unreal_: jp9, jp8, jp10
01:25 PM ve7it: I see that... they seem to all go to the first driver
01:25 PM _unreal_: I'll pull the jumpers later so they can be traces
01:25 PM _unreal_: traced
01:26 PM _unreal_: as I said last night one of the boards I have had a single jumper wire
01:26 PM _unreal_: on the bottom of the board
01:26 PM ve7it: mine too
01:26 PM _unreal_: ! oh really?
01:27 PM ve7it: I have the same rev J board
01:27 PM _unreal_: My rev G board has no jumper wires
01:29 PM _unreal_: there is one other difference the two resistors between the IC's and the motor drivers have a different value from one board to the other
01:30 PM _unreal_: I'll have to put the mm to it to be sure the values are different. its hard to tell if its just band discoloration or different bands
01:31 PM _unreal_: the inline j1 pin 15 is grd
01:34 PM _unreal_: pin14 is connected to the IN on the 7805
01:37 PM _unreal_: so pin 14 and 8 are high voltage motor power
01:38 PM _unreal_: the only ground pin seems to be 15 but then again the entire frame is ground
01:40 PM _unreal_: ve7it, non of the pins on the j1 are connected to the +5v
01:40 PM _unreal_: so they have to be all logic or signal
01:42 PM _unreal_: ve7it, as I said if you need me to try and mill away any traces I can. I just need to strip the board
01:42 PM _unreal_: err mill away any layers to see traces
01:45 PM _unreal_: ve7it, ok the top side component side is a ground plain, the bottom side of the board under the bottom traces is the high voltage power plain
01:45 PM ve7it: I should have a better idea by the end of the day... my thought so far is the dac sets the drive current and possibly the analog mux reads the current and passes it back to the controller.. but it could also be used to toggle some pins on the driver chip... just have to see what goes to what
01:47 PM jymmmm: XXCoder: I skimmed thru it, what did you want me to see?
01:50 PM _unreal_: ve7it, all 3 motor drivers enable pin are tied together. and tied to pin 23 of max505 it looks like
01:50 PM _unreal_: sorry wrong
01:50 PM _unreal_: vcc
01:50 PM _unreal_: vdd
01:51 PM _unreal_: they are connected to pin 22 of max505 vdd
01:51 PM _unreal_: so on board they are directly tied to 5v
01:51 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, you ever get that projector?
01:52 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: Yep and I sent you a few messages about that as well.
01:52 PM _unreal_: ? in chat or msg?
01:52 PM _unreal_: in chat I missed them?
01:56 PM _unreal_: ve7it, the 4099 pins 9, 10, 11 are tied to the DIR pins of the 3 motors
01:56 PM _unreal_: motor controllers
01:56 PM _unreal_: so 4099 individually controls motor direction
01:58 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, ?
02:03 PM jymmmm: in here
02:05 PM _unreal_: sooo
02:05 PM _unreal_: what did you say about it? I cant find any msg's
02:05 PM _unreal_: and I'm not sure where you talked about it in the chan
02:08 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, soo... what are your thoughts on the projector?
02:08 PM _unreal_: worth the $28 or not?
02:10 PM jymmmm: Yeah, it plays MP4, but NOT ISO's, still need to see if it'll play AVI's. it WILL read a USB HDD formattted to FAT32, but not ExFAT. HAven't tried the bluetooth audio yet.
02:12 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
02:13 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
02:13 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
02:14 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: I even backed up the USB stick that it came with, 484MB zipped
02:52 PM _unreal_: ok but was it worth the purchase yay nay?
02:58 PM _unreal_: well so much for that surprise surprise my Xwife is sending back are daughter and not taking her for school vaca
02:59 PM _unreal_: ve7it, well looks like I'm NOT going to have the bit of free time I thought I was going to have.
03:00 PM ve7it: hey... making progress here on schematic
03:11 PM ve7it: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1O_kSp8N4vt2R3FWCY6W7VSbVT9WVyCv-
03:11 PM ve7it: long way to go
03:22 PM _unreal_: ve7it, posted more of my findings above
03:22 PM _unreal_: if you have not read them already
03:22 PM _unreal_: I'm leaving shortly to go get my daughter
03:22 PM _unreal_: totally fucking amazing.
03:23 PM _unreal_: I had plans all set up. with friends to have a good new years... NOPE
03:23 PM ve7it: yes... ticking them off as I add them to schematic
03:24 PM _unreal_: you still have the photo I linked you of the board with the chips removed ya?
03:25 PM _unreal_: for easy trace finding
03:26 PM _unreal_: pissis me off I was JUST getting ready to desolder those jumpers
03:29 PM _unreal_: well I'll be back in 3 @$#%@#$%# hours... wish I could be a parent when ever I want to be... or its convenient.
03:32 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I do have a question for you. going by your servo page. because I have the same motors as you do on hand.... what are the power requirements for those motors. I currently have two of them and I'm still debaiting if I should have a 3rd? or go with the smaller bot same power " " bldc?
03:32 PM _unreal_: I'm asking because I need to order a PSU. and I dont know what I need for an overall amperage. Mainly beause I dont know what those brushed servos draw for power?
03:40 PM ve7it: good question
03:42 PM ve7it: my motor label says 24vdc/2.2A 1580rpm 30oz-in, output 33w
03:43 PM ve7it: but servo motors need a higher peak rating on power... sometimes up to 10x the current
03:45 PM ve7it: with the driver I designed, I think there is a built in 4.7A current limit (if I remember correctly) and one needs 2 supplies +24 and -24v
04:20 PM jymmmm: Mora SS knife $17, safe knife but Carbon $10,
04:20 PM jymmmm: same*
04:22 PM jymmmm: SS good for food prep, what would a carbon knife be good for?
04:28 PM burklefoo: Carbon steel is sharper than stainless..
04:29 PM burklefoo: and easier to sharpen
04:30 PM jymmmm: burklefoo: so holds an edge better is what you are saying?
04:32 PM burklefoo: I think some of the newer stainless steel alloys are close and the lack of corrosion is a big advantage
04:33 PM burklefoo: but I think they are harder to sharpen well (probably why you dont see many stainless steel cutting tools)
04:40 PM XXCoder: jym just wanted you to see interesting method
04:50 PM Jymmm: XXCoder: gotcha
05:09 PM Deejay: gn8
05:45 PM elmo40: _unreal_, how many motors? what size are they ? what drivers are you using?
05:45 PM elmo40: maybe get a PSU fit to max out the drivers, then add about 15% head room.
05:51 PM gloops: _unreal_ you shouldnt be trying to work out how stuff is going to fit at this late stage lol
05:51 PM gloops: wheres the plan?
05:53 PM Tom_L: what plan?
05:55 PM gloops: the painstaking plan drawn up over months working late into the night by candlelight etc
06:49 PM Jymmm: gloops needs to come out of the 15th century
06:50 PM Jymmm: "We Have Lightbulbs"
07:53 PM elmo40: LED, even.
08:32 PM jymmmm: cradek: FWIW, Atrii Document Viewer can read PS files
08:42 PM CaptHindsight: Jymmm: did the projector work well enuff?
08:46 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: it wasn't an exact model, it was just an example of a multi-DVD player
08:55 PM ziper: how should I go about measuring the cross section of a wing?
08:56 PM ziper: its about model plane size, and symmetrical
08:56 PM ziper: but my calipers jaws only stick out about an inch and a half
08:57 PM nvz: a cross section of a wing should be rounded on one side down to a point on the other.. mostly flat on the bottom, but curved on the top..
08:57 PM ve7it: _unreal_, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1O_kSp8N4vt2R3FWCY6W7VSbVT9WVyCv- getting closer...
08:58 PM nvz: https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/Images/geom.gif
08:58 PM nvz: ziper: ^
08:59 PM ziper: right, so I want to find the section so I can simulate it
08:59 PM ziper: now, if I could cut it in half, it would be easy
08:59 PM nvz: by the look of that nasa image, you need a max thickness, a chord line length, and a mean camber line, then its calculation
09:00 PM nvz: a cross-section means cutting it in half :P
09:00 PM ziper: well, really just a CSV of a sufficient number of points for the top and bottom surface
09:00 PM ziper: then the properties are derived from that
09:00 PM ziper: ok. I had an idea
09:00 PM ziper: just make a flat reference, and measure depths off of that
09:01 PM * nvz doesn't want to fly on a plane made by ziper :D
09:01 PM nvz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airfoil
09:40 PM ziper: nvz, http://puu.sh/EUAaT/33636d036d.jpg
09:40 PM ziper: check it out
09:40 PM ziper: the jig out to center itself on the leading and trailing endge
09:40 PM ziper: and i can use the flat top and bottom to take measurements
09:44 PM CaptHindsight: ziper: whatcha makin?
09:44 PM ziper: a jig so I can measure the profile of a hydrofoil
09:46 PM CaptHindsight: does it change much over its span?
09:46 PM CaptHindsight: or is that what you want to find out?
09:46 PM CaptHindsight: as well
09:47 PM ziper: i dunno
09:47 PM ziper: we will find out
09:48 PM ziper: it definitely shrinks in chord, but I can't tell by eye if the section changes
09:48 PM ziper: it will be rather difficult to measure at the tips, the chord is only an inch there
09:48 PM ziper: but at that point the section is basically out the window anyway
09:49 PM _unreal_: ve7it, been home since 9. tried to have a camp fire with my daughter but as I was afraid of. everytihng was just WAY WAY WAY AWY WAY to wet..
09:49 PM _unreal_: this endless @#$%@#$#@ rain we have been having in "sunny south florida" has been such a buzz kill
09:49 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.esru.strath.ac.uk/EandE/Web_sites/11-12/MORE/hydrofoil/img/1.jpg
09:50 PM CaptHindsight: http://aviationknowledge.wikidot.com/aviation:aerofoil
09:50 PM _unreal_: ve7it, wow all of those ceramic caps are tied in parallel to +v5
09:50 PM ziper: I don't think a hydrofoil gets relative wind ))))))))))))))))))))))))
09:51 PM CaptHindsight: angle of attack sounds aggressive
09:51 PM ziper: these stay at low Aoa
09:52 PM ziper: they have flaps to adjust camber
09:52 PM Tom_L: _unreal_, filter caps
09:52 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=H0AiaTKwsTA&feature=emb_logo
09:52 PM _unreal_: elmo40, http://ve7it.cowlug.org/dspic-servo.html I litteraly have the same motors
09:52 PM _unreal_: as ve7it has on his website
09:53 PM Tom_L: _unreal_, depending on the design there may be 3 different values tied to each vcc pin for various noise cancelling
09:53 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, ya.. he's trying to work out the fabulous bldc motors gift I gave him
09:54 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, its amazing. those motors and drivers etc.... when they where knew. I litteraly mail him about $3k worth in parts but we are talking parts from a device that has been in service since 2k6
09:54 PM _unreal_: in the marine environment :)
09:54 PM _unreal_: no les
09:54 PM _unreal_: less
09:55 PM Tom_L: that's what they were designed for
09:55 PM Tom_L: they should hold up
09:56 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, the main failure that I have found from the sat's I've collected so far. is the primary "and one I want the most :/" bldc motor that also has an encoder on its bearings fail
09:57 PM _unreal_: on it, its bearings fail
09:57 PM _unreal_: what I dont know is if I can take it apart or not. OR if if do take it apart will the perm. magnet get messed up like stepper motors often do? or is it totaly fine if I take it apart to replace the bearings.
09:58 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: i had the idea to build one to host 1500++ DVDs, but its just to much effort.
09:58 PM CaptHindsight: robot arm
09:58 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, sounds like a pick and place nightmare
09:59 PM Loetmichel: ripping them all and putting them onto a large disk array also has the benefit of being able to access them from all TVs in the flat
09:59 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: indeed
09:59 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, are you thinking a big circle tiered rack with a motoman? or something like a vending machine?
09:59 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: we built some back in the late 80's early 90's
10:00 PM CaptHindsight: held ~200 dics, for real high end home systems
10:00 PM CaptHindsight: discs vs dics
10:00 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, if your going to rip them all. you'd be better off using HD's and a NAS system that can spin down ALL drives
10:00 PM CaptHindsight: that was another project :)
10:00 PM Loetmichel: i was thinking more like a 120mm diameter u-shaped tube with a slot at the bottom of the U and enough lenght to store 1500++ disks on each side
10:00 PM _unreal_: and only power on demand
10:01 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: my server has 6tb at the moment. i think i will simply add a bunch if archive HDDs to it to have 60tb... should be enough
10:01 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, I could be wrong but I would assume an ideal pick/place system would be a disk older MUCH like the 100 disk cd/dvd holders that open like a clam shell
10:01 PM Loetmichel: and of course with spinning doen idle disks
10:02 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, I should show you photos of my super tower
10:02 PM Loetmichel: point is that regardless of which way you do it: a physical disk changer of THAT magnitude will have atrocious access time
10:03 PM _unreal_: https://www.overclockers.com/berins-case-mods/?__cf_chl_captcha_tk__=0dccce0f606b908fa30e2bcf48d1ba62a1b46ff6-1577678153-0-AcdOYNerAHacZHk7p-0g_T_JfpOMQgJ9Tw8XHHsREVBkXKkgHzRmZe2LF_6uRiq73XlNznc0ABNPcWINVzXEzEBatEtrcBVe8jnZCr6wvTPL6CpiEFobjHz923rAYfTtp8UY4sBuVmZZI2sSnUPPVO8LL7FvK9HgPIFLsORnjhG-kGT1aQHgcOdB-R90XkNnN-QF7hMsA3G46KsXbODWry02MBfwJDCmvMUBUfBQ57ZzowCp3VMFLvcZhFO4Fsz2sKLGr4UjTUA4Xsz93qc69s8x384cZn7epyZHNOKvSnkaJIXNH

10:03 PM _unreal_: wtf?
10:03 PM Loetmichel: rippinng them is the better way
10:03 PM _unreal_: wtf? https://www.overclockers.com/berins-case-mods/
10:03 PM XXCoder: oh man thats okld
10:03 PM XXCoder: 2002 no shit
10:03 PM CaptHindsight: for fun, place all 1500 dvd's on a belt, use machine vision to find the one you want to play, use vacuum pick up on end of robot arm and single player with drawer
10:04 PM _unreal_: that server tower has a lot more done to it I just dont have any current photos
10:04 PM _unreal_: it currently is holding 25HD's
10:04 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, I still have that trunk btw
10:04 PM _unreal_: BEST damn coffee table I've ever had
10:05 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: will still tage ages to get a DVD on the other end of the belt
10:05 PM Loetmichel: also will take tons of room
10:05 PM _unreal_: crazy thing... I stole that trunk back some 20 years ago
10:05 PM Loetmichel: physically
10:05 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN7BPyy69Ds
10:06 PM _unreal_: I was walking in the woods and came across an I assume abandoned shack.
10:06 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight i know what a SCARA robot is
10:06 PM _unreal_: nothing around what so ever. no houses no nothing. next to the marsh
10:06 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: for dramatic effect
10:07 PM _unreal_: I went in and there was a lot of god.... 40's/50's stuff in it everything had an inch of dust
10:07 PM _unreal_: the front door more or less fell off as I opened it
10:08 PM _unreal_: I saw the chest. I F'ING wanted it. there was other stuff as well but that chest had my name written all over it... I carried that freaking thing 3 miles through the woods. light misting and bugs chasing OMG....
10:10 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, https://www.overclockers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/stories/articles/Berin_s_Case_Mods/dcp_0008.jpg that image
10:10 PM _unreal_: the bottom right. now has 3 tiers of HD's
10:10 PM XXCoder: ye olde days of bleeder case
10:10 PM _unreal_: the purple thing is gone and a 3rd hd mount same kind is there
10:11 PM _unreal_: there are dual PSU's the radiator is gone
10:11 PM XXCoder: youre still using it?
10:14 PM _unreal_: ya
10:14 PM _unreal_: https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipOtptQDpHhjMIarNyUu2OFTcC6LU7bfiBc9lmp_
10:14 PM _unreal_: can you view that?
10:14 PM XXCoder: 404
10:14 PM Loetmichel: 404
10:15 PM _unreal_: https://photos.app.goo.gl/359SFfT5d5WXVvmt7
10:15 PM XXCoder: that one is fine. girl witgh flowers
10:15 PM _unreal_: that would be my daughter few years ago
10:15 PM _unreal_: took her to butterfly world just down the road
10:16 PM renesis: oh man arent those related to devils apple?
10:16 PM renesis: jymson weed
10:17 PM Loetmichel: renesis: as long as she only sniffs and not eats: no problem ;)
10:17 PM CaptHindsight: carnivorous flower?
10:17 PM renesis: srsly
10:18 PM renesis: capthindsight: put the girl in psych hospitals for the rest of her life
10:19 PM _unreal_: this was one of the most WTF boats I worked on mold wise https://photos.app.goo.gl/xYM2uXD1EZyoviE86
10:19 PM _unreal_: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1hkg12vn7vWoog2J7
10:19 PM renesis: _unreal_:
10:20 PM renesis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brugmansia
10:20 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: halluciongen
10:20 PM renesis: Brugmansia species are amongst the most toxic of ornamental plants, containing tropane alkaloids of the type responsible also for the toxicity of the infamous deadly nightshade.
10:20 PM renesis: dont let her do that anymore
10:22 PM Loetmichel: renesis: keep calm. they are only toxic if you eat parts of the plants. I would tell her to wash her hands after touching it though
10:22 PM Tom_L: it's an old pic. obviously she's fine now
10:23 PM renesis: what, not my kid
10:23 PM CaptHindsight: will they anathematize a small barking dog? just wondering
10:23 PM _unreal_: renesis, ahh WRONG
10:23 PM renesis: haha, might make the dog bark at everything
10:23 PM _unreal_: different plant looks close but not what you think it is
10:23 PM renesis: _unreal_: def not my kid
10:23 PM _unreal_: look at the leaves for starters
10:24 PM _unreal_: the brugmansia are pointy
10:24 PM renesis: okay eat some and prove it
10:24 PM _unreal_: those flowers smell like cotton candy
10:24 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: even if it were: those are not toxic to smell, only if you ingest plant parts
10:24 PM CaptHindsight: I often just make up very silly names for plants
10:24 PM _unreal_: the guide as I recall TOLD everyone in the tour to smell them
10:24 PM Loetmichel: so fine to look at and smell, not fine to eat.
10:25 PM Loetmichel: some people should be a bit less "helicopter parents" sometimes i think
10:25 PM Loetmichel: it dosent do the kids any good
10:25 PM CaptHindsight: my parents didn't even drive a car
10:25 PM renesis: why?
10:25 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, ?
10:26 PM CaptHindsight: speaking of plants, weed goes legal here in 2 days
10:26 PM Loetmichel: renesis: because if you dont let your kids make any experiences themselves you dont have to wonder why they are not able to live on their own at all.
10:26 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, get ready for a MASSIVE spice in car crashes
10:27 PM _unreal_: FUCKING auto correct
10:27 PM CaptHindsight: nah
10:27 PM CaptHindsight: they do that already
10:27 PM _unreal_: spice=spike
10:27 PM renesis: theres no such thing as ren's kids
10:27 PM renesis: they are a myth
10:27 PM Loetmichel: renesis: i fuigured as much
10:27 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, navada's accident rate trippled since they legalized weed...
10:27 PM CaptHindsight: I know, i enjoy the corrected misspellings
10:27 PM Loetmichel: figured
10:27 PM CaptHindsight: that are still wrong
10:28 PM CaptHindsight: _unreal_: don't helicopter people
10:28 PM _unreal_: huh?
10:28 PM _unreal_: I dont know what that means
10:28 PM renesis: tripled?
10:29 PM _unreal_: renesis, yes look it up
10:29 PM CaptHindsight: I'm looking forward to automatic weapons and legal opiates
10:29 PM Loetmichel: where is navada?
10:29 PM _unreal_: ! is it navada or Colorado that leglized weed?
10:29 PM renesis: Safety focused on police-reported crashes before and after retail marijuana was allowed found Colorado, Oregon and Washington saw a 5.2 percent increase in the rate of crashes per million vehicle registrations, compared with neighboring states.
10:29 PM CaptHindsight: Colorado
10:29 PM _unreal_: ya that sounds more like it colorado
10:29 PM renesis: 5.6% is less than 200%
10:29 PM CaptHindsight: 5.2% = 3X
10:30 PM renesis: oh, 5.2%, i am fake news
10:30 PM renesis: anyway, some people drive worse, some people drive better, some people drive same
10:31 PM CaptHindsight: what did the accident rate climb to in Portugal?
10:31 PM _unreal_: why not make drinking a driving legal
10:31 PM renesis: cali highway patrol, brit gov, and top gear tested and had those same results
10:31 PM Loetmichel: and nobody SHOULD drive under the influence
10:31 PM Loetmichel: neither alc nor THC
10:31 PM CaptHindsight: they legalized recreational drugs
10:31 PM renesis: because they tested that too and everyone drives worse drunk
10:31 PM _unreal_: why not make using Pain meds and driving legal as well
10:32 PM _unreal_: same SAME fucking difference
10:32 PM renesis: it is
10:32 PM CaptHindsight: ok
10:32 PM renesis: so is using psychotropes and driving
10:32 PM _unreal_: part of the reason why I left the medical field
10:32 PM Loetmichel: renesis: anecdotical evidence: they once caught a coworker driving a 7.5 ton box truck for the stage company
10:32 PM _unreal_: the news is SOOOO damn fake
10:33 PM _unreal_: I use to be a med tech gave up err let my licenses all of them laps
10:33 PM Loetmichel: ... driving 60kph on the autobahn, swerving slightly and slowing down even further every now and then
10:33 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2017/dec/05/portugals-radical-drugs-policy-is-working-why-hasnt-the-world-copied-it
10:34 PM Loetmichel: they pulled him out at the next parking lot... he had overstepped the maximum driving time by a coulple hours, the whole drivers cabin was thick with weed smoke AND his truck was 11.5 tons.
10:34 PM CaptHindsight: renesis: they need to have bad guys
10:34 PM Loetmichel: took a while to get the truck back, and the driver we heard nothing from for a few months ;)
10:34 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, wtf that webpage just crippled my computer
10:35 PM renesis: anyway, marijuana is comparable to an antidepressant
10:35 PM _unreal_: cpu ussage spiked massivly
10:35 PM renesis: someone driving on xanax is scarier
10:35 PM _unreal_: and LOL to "crime" dropped well NO SHIT it dropped, if everything is legal there is no crime.
10:35 PM renesis: if someone has decent tolerance and doesnt have issues doing anything else, i dont have a problem driving with them
10:35 PM CaptHindsight: or General anesthesia
10:35 PM _unreal_: even though its being done
10:36 PM Loetmichel: let us just agree that it is a BAD idea to drive under the influence of ANY drug, be that THC, "medicines" or simple alc
10:36 PM Loetmichel: they ALL impede your reaction time and thinking.
10:36 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, not the schedual II's
10:36 PM renesis: shrug, is all gray area
10:36 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: depends on the person and who else is allowed to drive while sober
10:36 PM * _unreal_ 's lower lip quivvers :)
10:37 PM renesis: people drink responsibly and drive after pretty much universally
10:37 PM renesis: bars exist
10:37 PM renesis: people get home
10:37 PM Loetmichel: renesis: and thats ok most of the time
10:37 PM _unreal_: renesis, let me tell you I've had some scary moments KNOWNING i was being tailed
10:37 PM Loetmichel: but thats not how laws work
10:37 PM _unreal_: but the blues never came on
10:37 PM CaptHindsight: renesis: yeah but some people need to be able to control others or they aren't happy
10:37 PM renesis: shrug, thats legal
10:37 PM renesis: that is how laws work
10:37 PM CaptHindsight: or less miserable
10:38 PM Loetmichel: you cant allow it to one reasonable drinker and deny it the next one that NOT able to control a car with a few pints intus
10:38 PM renesis: you can drink, be under some arbitrary limit, prob feel *some* effect, be legal to drive
10:38 PM Loetmichel: so you have to make it illegal for all of them
10:38 PM renesis: thats not true
10:38 PM renesis: least not here
10:38 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: they hand out drivers licenses here to just about anyone
10:38 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, sadly most of the world is not blond/blue eyed
10:39 PM _unreal_: AKA high tolerance peole
10:39 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: what do you mean?
10:39 PM renesis: ?
10:39 PM CaptHindsight: can't walk and chew gum types
10:39 PM Loetmichel: ah, tolerance to alc?
10:39 PM renesis: loetmichel: you live someplace with zero blood alc tolerance?
10:39 PM _unreal_: statistically blond and blue eye'd people have higher alcohol tolerances
10:39 PM Loetmichel: renesis: no idea
10:40 PM _unreal_: and brown eyes/dark eye's have the lowest
10:40 PM renesis: okay well law here, you can drink and drive as long as youre not drunk
10:40 PM Loetmichel: whenh i did my drivers license it was max 0.8promille
10:40 PM CaptHindsight: what if my reaction time with a BOC of 0.08 is 50% faster than someone sober?
10:40 PM CaptHindsight: do I get a cookie?
10:40 PM Loetmichel: nowadays its 0,3promille I THINK
10:40 PM renesis: capthindsight: doesnt test like that, shrug
10:40 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, no choco chip
10:40 PM renesis: tho some people drove better stoned
10:41 PM SpeedEvil: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073Z22774?ref=em_1p_1_im&ref_=pe_27542510_463012930 ' Aggressive Knurl with Deep channels to provide a strong grip for easier twisting and pulling ' - is knurl also applied to flat surfaces?
10:41 PM SpeedEvil: I thought the term was just used for cylinders
10:41 PM CaptHindsight: renesis: they don't seem to factor that in :)
10:41 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i knew that asians are usually less tolerant to alc compared to caucasians
10:41 PM Loetmichel: didnt knew it was that significant though
10:42 PM CaptHindsight: I won't drive with some people no matter how sober they are
10:42 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: better dont get into my car then ;)
10:43 PM Loetmichel: i tend to switch off the DSC and drift as soon as there is room on the streets and the weather is allowing it
10:43 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: I've heard your stories :)
10:43 PM Loetmichel: its fun ;)
10:44 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: how the winter been so far in Germany?
10:44 PM CaptHindsight: we had an early winter, it was -5C whn it should have been +10, and now it's +15C when it should be around 0
10:45 PM _unreal_: OMG CLOSING chrome.... its just locking my computer up hard
10:46 PM _unreal_: oh wow.... htop reports 12gb cache from chrome
10:46 PM Loetmichel: dry and without snow
10:47 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, ya there have been a few studies out there.
10:47 PM Loetmichel: and way to warm
10:48 PM _unreal_: light colored eye people are more likely to have an alcohol dependence. and higher tolerance. and dark colored eye people are likely to have a lower dependence AND a significantly lower tolerance.
10:48 PM Loetmichel: few years ago: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=9220
10:48 PM Loetmichel: now: dry and +5°C... and its 05:40 here
10:48 PM _unreal_: much better 700mg swap cache
10:48 PM _unreal_: used
10:49 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: record warm xmas and this weekend
10:50 PM CaptHindsight: last winter, record cold
10:50 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i stopped drinking and driving back in my 16teens when i managed to wrap myself around a traffic light on my Mofa
10:50 PM Loetmichel: "learning thru pain" ;)
10:51 PM _unreal_: I have never been in an accident
10:52 PM renesis: whats a mofa
10:52 PM _unreal_: though I DID have a 92yo guy side swipe his car on my PARKED car and it was still my fault. wtf....
10:52 PM Loetmichel: renesis: a cross between Moped and bicycle: 50ccm, pedals and 25kph max
10:53 PM renesis: dont mopeds have pedals
10:53 PM renesis: im so confused
10:53 PM Loetmichel: not in europe
10:53 PM _unreal_: renesis, ya I was thinking that.. a moped is a peddle/motor bike
10:54 PM Loetmichel: Mopeds in europe are defined as "light motorcycles" that have max 50ccm and max 45kph
10:54 PM renesis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moped
10:54 PM Loetmichel: thats a Mofa in germany
10:54 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, ya in the US a moped is a motor bike/peddle bike
10:54 PM CaptHindsight: Mo for motor and ped for pedals
10:55 PM Loetmichel: most 50cc scooters are "mopeds" in germany, the "mofas" have to have pedals and have to be limited to 25kph
10:55 PM Loetmichel: "motorFahrrad"
10:55 PM Loetmichel: fahrrad= bicycle
10:55 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: they won't let us use those on roads here
10:56 PM _unreal_: renesis, oh wow that wiki, the yellow honda moped my friends grand parents had two of those at there camp. god as a teen we use to love taking those down the road
10:57 PM CaptHindsight: has to have a big enough engine to be licensed
10:57 PM CaptHindsight: or human power only
10:57 PM Loetmichel: renesis: that was my "mofa" back then: http://www.sonnengelber.de/px-50-e.html
10:58 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, ahh people drive bicycles here in florida allllllll the time with small gas motors on the front wheels etc...
10:59 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, is that a picture of you ((:)
10:59 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: that means there are no 500c scooters over where you live?
10:59 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: not really.
10:59 PM Loetmichel: ramdom internet site with pictures of that old bike
10:59 PM _unreal_: damn
10:59 PM * Loetmichel looks a bit different.
10:59 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=15297&g2_serialNumber=2
11:00 PM Loetmichel: wrong link
11:00 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=15295
11:00 PM Loetmichel: and yes, thats a 50cc, too
11:01 PM Loetmichel: it drives nearly 70kph though ;)
11:01 PM Loetmichel: germany JUST made it possible for car license owners to have a few hours of schooling and then drive 125ccm bikes
11:02 PM Loetmichel: will take that opertunity once it goes thru... get a bit bigger bike ;)
11:02 PM _unreal_: wow cdrom.com is gone
11:03 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: oh they recently made those legal here, 50cc moped
11:04 PM CaptHindsight: but varies by city
11:04 PM _unreal_: ve7it, how goes it?
11:04 PM Loetmichel: interesting
11:04 PM Loetmichel: they are a staple of moving teens in euroe
11:04 PM Loetmichel: +p
11:04 PM Loetmichel: since i can think, and thats quite a while
11:05 PM ve7it: _unreal_, still adding little parts!
11:05 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, if its almost midnight here it must be what 5am for you?
11:05 PM Loetmichel: may be because we can drive mofas at age 15, mopeds at age 16 and cars at age 18
11:05 PM _unreal_: ve7it, cool
11:05 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: well here you are supposed to drive a large truck to get milk and eggs at walking distance
11:05 PM Loetmichel: close to 6am
11:05 PM _unreal_: an other all nighter ehhh
11:05 PM ve7it: about 20 parts to go and some wires
11:06 PM Loetmichel: nope, woke up at 0430 and had to pee ;)
11:06 PM Loetmichel: and then got hooked on this conversation ;)
11:06 PM CaptHindsight: then can't sleep until 7?
11:06 PM _unreal_: ve7it, at this point what is your opinion? best to leave the chips on the boards? or is there likely to be modifications to make it more useful?
11:07 PM CaptHindsight: the worst is getting up 2 hours early for me and then can't fall back asleep
11:07 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i am getting old
11:07 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: go back to bed, i am :)
11:07 PM Loetmichel: old people dont need that much sleep ;)
11:07 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, we are all getting old
11:07 PM CaptHindsight: speak for yourself :)
11:08 PM _unreal_: hay i'm in my 40's
11:08 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: i usually sleep less than 6 hours a night
11:08 PM _unreal_: granted I am 4 dee
11:08 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i will be 51 next feb ;)
11:08 PM CaptHindsight: I got sick a couple of months ago, still recovering, have to get 8+ hours to feel human
11:09 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, since I moved to florida I have been sick 3 times period
11:09 PM _unreal_: and I moved here in 13
11:09 PM CaptHindsight: _unreal_: my illness is unrelated to location
11:09 PM ve7it: _unreal_, I think I have enough figured out to drive a motor... really just strobing in drive and direction for each axis
11:09 PM CaptHindsight: well maybe earth :)
11:10 PM _unreal_: every time I talk to friends fam back in new england they are ALLLL giving me the snif sniff sniff sniff stuffy runny nose thing. and I'm like are you sick and they always go NO not at all...
11:10 PM _unreal_: I'm like right...... I'm glad I'm not in winter any more
11:10 PM ve7it: set address, set data, toggle write pulse
11:10 PM CaptHindsight: <-- willing to change planets if I get the right offer
11:11 PM _unreal_: ve7it, so is direction hold more or less just toggling dir?
11:11 PM _unreal_: err motor hold
11:11 PM CaptHindsight: I'd melt in Florida summers
11:11 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, not likely
11:11 PM CaptHindsight: dry heat i can handle
11:12 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, let me ask you a simple question
11:12 PM CaptHindsight: I prefer 40-s - about 70F
11:12 PM _unreal_: come fall 50's is NOT shorts weather right?
11:12 PM ve7it: brake is disabled.. still havent traced out the enable signal
11:12 PM CaptHindsight: I don't even like summer up here
11:12 PM _unreal_: ve7it, enable is tied to 5v
11:12 PM CaptHindsight: 50's is shorts weather up here
11:13 PM _unreal_: ve7it, all of the enable pins are tied to vdd
11:13 PM ve7it: why yes it is...
11:14 PM _unreal_: ve7it, hehe I had posted a bunch of pinout tracing above :)
11:15 PM CaptHindsight: I would not miss <20F temps though
11:15 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, I always tell anyone thinking about moving to the tropics.. DO NOT do it in summer
11:15 PM _unreal_: do it in fall
11:15 PM CaptHindsight: <-8C
11:16 PM ve7it: yea... still working on connections... I am naming all the parts the same as the board, so it should make sense
11:16 PM _unreal_: heh 75F here CaptHindsight
11:16 PM _unreal_: ve7it, cool..
11:16 PM CaptHindsight: i spent lots of time in south Asia in summer, too many bugs and too high humidity
11:17 PM _unreal_: sigh... I've been all up and down the east coast. and to puerto rico a number of times. thats it
11:17 PM _unreal_: and canada
11:17 PM CaptHindsight: wish Australia was so kooky politically, hot and dry there
11:17 PM CaptHindsight: was not so
11:17 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, the bugs IMO are way worse in new england then they are here in fl
11:19 PM CaptHindsight: haven't been to Florida since 2000
11:19 PM _unreal_: granted I have Miskitos year round here. they DONT suck to get bit by. the one's up north are larger louder. and hurt like hell and leave bleeding welts when they get you
11:19 PM _unreal_: not so down here
11:20 PM CaptHindsight: January in FL for me was top down on the convertible weather
11:20 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, oh hell ya
11:20 PM _unreal_: 70's day time highs, 50-70's over nights
11:20 PM _unreal_: now and then it can get down into the 40's
11:20 PM CaptHindsight: june-july however was spent inside with AC on full blast
11:20 PM _unreal_: there has not been a frost since 2005
11:21 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, were you near the coast?
11:21 PM CaptHindsight: not a fan of humidity
11:21 PM _unreal_: or inland
11:21 PM CaptHindsight: both coasts and inland
11:21 PM XXCoder: or outland? heh
11:22 PM _unreal_: inland SUCKS, hot muggy

11:22 PM _unreal_: daytona isnt to bad
11:22 PM CaptHindsight: Tampa in Jan was nice
11:23 PM _unreal_: the prevailing winds are normally from the east.
11:23 PM _unreal_: so you get that nice sea breeze
11:23 PM CaptHindsight: Gasparilla
11:23 PM _unreal_: godbless you
11:23 PM CaptHindsight: pirates
11:24 PM CaptHindsight: what they called it anyway, looked like an excuse for weekend heavy drinking

11:25 PM _unreal_: I'll do it in the morning tomorrow

11:25 PM CaptHindsight: had lots of friends work in the Keys during winters
11:25 PM _unreal_: or do you think it even needs to be done?
11:25 PM ve7it: no... not necessary
11:26 PM _unreal_: do you know what they are fore?
11:26 PM _unreal_: for
11:27 PM ve7it: jp8 and 9 set the decay mode... since they are jumped on both our boards, I just hardwired the schematic, one goes to gnd and 1 goes to +5
11:27 PM CaptHindsight: I might move to the south of France in the early 50's if I get the time machine working
11:27 PM ve7it: havent worked on jp10 yet
11:28 PM _unreal_: looks like jp10 is break
11:28 PM _unreal_: and tied to ground?
11:33 PM _unreal_: ve7it, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fE6JW3r7e_odzj2PmIikGYfI4qShKH2G that is the board photo with the removed chips
11:34 PM ve7it: J10 connects to SR (synchronous rectification is disabled)
11:34 PM ve7it: on all 3 chips
11:34 PM ve7it: pin 16
11:36 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I get pin 15

11:39 PM _unreal_: ya I'm going to pull the hard jumps tomorrow
11:40 PM _unreal_: ?
11:41 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I believe I'm going to just go and pull all of the parts as I get the chance. that way I can scan both sides.
11:42 PM _unreal_: and then I'll set it up on the mill and buss off a layer
