12:39 AM XXCoder: cool :)
02:41 AM Deejay: moin
02:44 AM Deejay: merry christmas
02:48 AM net|: https://i.imgur.com/p2KA8ux.png
05:22 AM jthornton: Merry Christmas
05:23 AM XXCoder: merry xmas all :D
05:23 AM XXCoder: you know arudino jt?
05:23 AM jthornton: yea
05:24 AM XXCoder: how do I have custom config?
05:24 AM XXCoder: grbl have config.h but I dont want to alter library one
05:24 AM jthornton: copy it and rename it
06:36 AM jymmmm: Merry Christmas !!!
06:37 AM XXCoder: merry xmas
06:47 AM Tom_L: Merry Christmas
06:58 AM * jthornton was painting the house in a t shirt the day before xmas and the low tonight is 50°F
06:59 AM XXCoder: lol
07:01 AM Tom_L: 44°, Hi 66
07:36 AM jymmmm: Snow due in 30m, we shall see
08:31 AM XXCoder: jthornton: it finally work
08:31 AM XXCoder: BUT one bad issue
08:32 AM XXCoder: it defaults laser to full power when I enable steppers
08:32 AM XXCoder: not very safe
09:03 AM jthornton: wow that's not safe
09:05 AM XXCoder: yeah testing it by removing laser wire
09:07 AM Tom_L: does the laser have a separate enable line?
09:08 AM XXCoder: its 2 wire type so guess no?
09:08 AM XXCoder: laser head itself have 3 wire
09:09 AM XXCoder: control board output only have 2
09:17 AM gloops: how is the laser activated - spindle on/off coolant on/off ?
09:18 AM XXCoder: spindle but it turns on with steppers enable too
09:20 AM gloops: hmm, i think vfd with spindle prevents that, i do get a momentary power up of everything when linuxcnc is booting
11:31 AM _unreal_: been doing the gifting
11:32 AM _unreal_: XXCoder, sounds like thats hooked up to general enable
11:32 AM _unreal_: OR software wise is setup wrong?
11:33 AM _unreal_: less spindle enable
12:53 PM jymmmm: XXCoder: Does you laser accept PWM?
12:53 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, i was wondering that my self
12:53 PM _unreal_: if he was rather infact feeding 100% duty cycle ;)
12:55 PM jymmmm: XXCoder: Is so, maybe you can setup spindle speed as a percentage of laser power
01:36 PM _unreal_: I just had to help the sobbing tears one with her new braclet braiding toy.... "boo hooo it just tangles waaaaaahhhh...."
01:37 PM _unreal_: the last 2 pages of the simple how to were not important to her to read heh
02:04 PM _unreal_: There my X axis is starting to look like something
02:09 PM _unreal_: sigh
02:10 PM _unreal_: everyone must be christmasing hehe
03:19 PM _unreal_: ve7it, hurried the company off yet ;) LOL
03:20 PM _unreal_: I got a few things done so far on my new cnc bild
03:20 PM _unreal_: build
03:20 PM _unreal_: working on the X frame
03:36 PM ve7it: _unreal_, they are here for a couple more days... more eartquakes to day... https://i.imgur.com/89uQ2rT.png I live on the east side of the island... nothing felt here
03:43 PM elmo40: _unreal_, well... show us the x-axis
03:45 PM JT-Shop: hmm I need to drill a bunch of holes in some 0.036" copper sheet... need ideas
03:46 PM Tom_L: punch press
03:46 PM Tom_L: sammich it between something else and drill thru it all
03:46 PM Tom_L: that way it won't pull up on ya
03:47 PM JT-Shop: kinda what I'm thinking of using some aluminum to hold it still
03:48 PM JT-Shop: 0.250" wide with 0.125" holes...
03:48 PM Tom_L: oh, just a strip?
03:48 PM Tom_L: so .062 on each side
03:48 PM Tom_L: have fun
03:49 PM JT-Shop: yea, I have 8 toggle and 8 push buttons it's the 24v + rail
03:49 PM JT-Shop: could be 0.300" wide
03:49 PM Tom_L: i'd slot the aluminum and wedge it in the slot and cnc it
03:49 PM Tom_L: with alum on both sides of it
03:50 PM Tom_L: probably drill the first hole, pause and pin it then continue
03:53 PM _unreal_: any waves :)
04:06 PM _unreal_: ve7it, so I'm spreading the load out on the X rails
04:29 PM Loetmichel: hmm, any americans out there that could help me assessing a car price? -> https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=290362584 <- should i buy that or wait for another big truck to come around in germany?
04:30 PM Loetmichel: Ad says "drives good, automatic switching smooth"
04:59 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: https://www.kbb.com/dodge/ram-1500/1998/
05:01 PM Loetmichel: jymmmm: that doesent help me very much for deciding if i want to buy that or not. also there are no prices on that website to compare to
05:01 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Yes there are, but you have to go thru the options to get to them.
05:02 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: KBB is the de-facto standard on pricing in the US
05:02 PM XXCoder: merry xmas all
05:11 PM Loetmichel: what i was after was more like "any known problems with that model?"
05:11 PM Loetmichel: other than the homungus fuel consumption, i know that bit ;)
05:11 PM Deejay: gn8
05:25 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: But you didn't initially ask for that.... https://repairpal.com/dodge-ram_1500-1998/recalls
05:28 PM jthornton: what a roost time rumble we had today... normally pretty calm but I guess the chickens are pissed as all they got was a lump of coal
05:32 PM jymmmm: jthornton: WHAT?! No chicken snacks? Dipping Sauce?
05:32 PM jthornton: they got their normal spoiling
05:46 PM jthornton: oh they did get some ham trimmings but I guess that was not enough
05:46 PM Tom_L: you expecting them to lay bacon _and_ eggs for ya???
05:46 PM jthornton: that's a bit much don't you think lol
05:48 PM Tom_L: worth a shot i guess :)
05:50 PM jthornton: that would be handy to get bacon eggs and grits but I don't have an Naugahides
05:51 PM jthornton: chow time
05:51 PM Tom_L: just starting desert
06:08 PM _unreal_: more yacking in here then I was expecting for a christmas
06:08 PM _unreal_: day
06:08 PM _unreal_: OMG make it stop. I've watched 2 movies so far
06:08 PM _unreal_: and the kid wants to watch an other one later on
06:08 PM _unreal_: @#$@#$
06:09 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: take her for a boat or horse ride
06:13 PM _unreal_: its dark out
06:16 PM jdh: watch a movie and be engaged
06:18 PM Tom_L: _unreal_ it's good for ya
06:27 PM _unreal_: OMG I have so much steak to cook tonight
06:27 PM _unreal_: I may even just cut them in half
07:13 PM XXCoder: JT-Shop: finally had an idea heh. i defocused laser enough so it cant burn'
07:13 PM XXCoder: then I tried m5 and s0m3 then m5
07:13 PM XXCoder: didnt work, laser stayed on whole time
08:15 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, as I said I think its PWM
08:15 PM _unreal_: OR your tied to motors enable
08:16 PM XXCoder: yeah but it should be pwm set
08:16 PM _unreal_: if its PWM set then you should be able to adjust the laser just for testing on the fly.
08:16 PM _unreal_: depending on the software your using
08:16 PM XXCoder: using laserweb
08:17 PM XXCoder: machine is useless when its laser on by default unfortunately
08:17 PM XXCoder: wish I tested it before I updated firmware see if it is machine or firmware
08:19 PM Tom_L: couldn't do a backup first?
08:20 PM XXCoder: dont think can backup firmware? didnt think of it to be honest
08:20 PM Tom_L: sure you can on some
08:23 PM XXCoder: ok. well bit late for this one tho oh well :)
08:23 PM Tom_L: you could search for an older firmware
08:24 PM XXCoder: problem is laserweb dont support orginial firmware (0.9c grbl)
08:24 PM XXCoder: plus I dont know if china modified it to work or not
08:24 PM Tom_L: hmm
08:24 PM XXCoder: i checked flash drive. no firmware sadly
08:44 PM _unreal_: heh trying to get this motor https://lsicsi.com/datasheets/LS7366R.pdf
08:44 PM _unreal_: err not that
08:44 PM _unreal_: https://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRO-CRAFT-EC-PERMANENT-MAGNET-SERVO-MOTOR-01-000-24V-D-C/293082749094?hash=item443d17d8a6:g:vqkAAOSw5ydc1RF~&autorefresh=true
08:44 PM _unreal_: guy wants $80 + $15 shipping for a motor that around 35 years old AND used
08:44 PM _unreal_: that motor was in a desktop dot matrix printer
08:45 PM Tom_L: hmm
08:45 PM Tom_L: i got an assortment of motors, probably smaller than that
08:45 PM Tom_L: got a couple from copiers
08:46 PM _unreal_: I want that because I already have a few of the same one
08:46 PM _unreal_: steppers I'm guessing?
08:46 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/motors/motor3.jpg
08:46 PM Tom_L: no
08:46 PM Tom_L: dc
08:46 PM Tom_L: i "borrowed" the encoders off the back
08:47 PM _unreal_: ya I was going to say
08:47 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/motors/motors_index.php
08:47 PM Tom_L: the rest are smaller
08:49 PM _unreal_: My motors
08:49 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cZ_rTRuKh85aVzAOJW3WQTf6sAHK0dZi
08:53 PM _unreal_: god I'm so torn between building the ve7it servo motor controller and buying ether the odrive or tarocco
09:12 PM _unreal_: well time to go suffer an other movie :/
09:12 PM _unreal_: sigh
09:12 PM Tom_L: enjoy
09:13 PM _unreal_: at least I have a BIG thick ass ribeye
09:13 PM _unreal_: $30 for two HUGE ribeyes
09:13 PM _unreal_: at least I didnt spend that much this year on christmas
09:14 PM _unreal_: I think I got away with like $600. last year I think it was like $1,300
